Memories of You

Rate this book
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author J. Kenner comes a new story in her Stark Security series…

Hollywood consultant Renly Cooper is fed up with relationships. His recent breakup with a leading lady played out across the tabloids, and the former Navy Seal is more than ready to focus on his new position as an agent at the elite Stark Security agency. He’s expecting international stakes. Instead, his first assignment is to protect one of Damien Stark’s friends from a stalker. A woman who, to his delight, turns out to be one of his closest childhood friends.

After a foray into online dating puts tech genius Abby Jones in danger, she needs a bodyguard, and her business partner, Nikki Fairchild Stark, enlists help from Stark Security. When the assigned agent turns out to be her best friend from junior high—and her first crush—she’s thrilled to discover he’s even more delicious now. She hopes one sexy night can turn into more, but Renly is firmly in the friends-with-benefits camp.

As the threat to Abby increases, she tries to keep her growing feelings for Renly at bay. But as the sparks between them burn even hotter, can they go from friends to lovers when the first order of business is simply to keep Abby alive?

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

If you know me you know Friends-to-Lovers is my catnip and this one had me so giddy it's ridiculous. Childhood friends Renly and Abby lost touch after he moved away but a chance meeting has him front and center in her life again and at the perfect time.

Renly is is a new hire for Stark Security and his first assignment is to keep Nikki's partner safe which just happens to be his childhood best friend, Abby. Abby has a stalker after her, she's been receiving creepy calls and it's escalating so Nikki insists she has someone look after her, Renly. I have to say when they see each other after so many years it was like everything shifted and things were right in their worlds again.

I really enjoyed this quick read, I wouldn't consider this insta-love because they did have a solid background together which helped moved things along quickly. If you enjoy Steamy Romantic Suspense Reads or the Friends-to-Lovers trope I would recommend this book to you. I would also highly recommend the audiobook version because narrators, Sofia Willingham and Joe Arden did a wonderful job with bringing this story to life.

Happy Reading!!!

Just what I needed. A quick and spicy read that introduced me to a whole new world. I haven't read any in the Stark Security series before this, but if they are all like this one, I'm sure I'll be heading back to the beginning.
Renley and Abby were best friends when they were younger, life happened and they were separated. Now years later they reconnect. Abby is looking for her future, Renley is looking for a good time, thanks in part to his parents failed marriage. Will these two make it past friends with benefits and realize they were meant to be together, or will it fizzle out and they'll just be the besties they used to be? And will they figure it out before Abby's stalker makes his move? This one kept me guessing.

5 Star Review Memories Of You (Stark Security #5.5) by J Kenner

This series keeps getting better and better. Although they are novellas, Ms.Kenner certainly packs a lot in to them. This is new Stark Security agent Renly Cooper’s story and what a story it was. From the first chapter till the last I was drawn into the story that Ms. Kenner wove. I love romantic suspense stories and this one ticked all the boxes for me.

Renly, a former Navy Seal is tasked with protecting Abby Jones, not quite the assignment he was expecting. However Abby is a friend of Damian and Nikki Stark so he knows that he must bring his “A” game and do everything in his power to keep her safe. Not only that but he has history with Abby as they were friends when they were younger.

Abby is thrilled to re connect with Renly, despite the circumstances, after all she crushed on him for some time. However Renly, having been recently burnt, is not prepared for anything more than a friends with benefits relationship.

When danger rears it’ head , will Renly be able to keep Abby safe whilst juggling their steamy relationship? Can Abby convince Renly that love is worth taking a leap of faith or are they destined to destroy their friendship in the process?

Memories Of You is well written, fast paced, full of suspense and a steamy story that I have no problem recommending.

Triggers: Hidden because they may contain spoilers.

Renly is ready for a change. He is also ready to not have his life splashed across the tabloids. After leaving the SEALs and needing something more than what Hollywood can offer, Renly joins the band of Stark Security brothers. He's content to have a low-key life for right now.

Abby is brilliant. She's strong, competent, and most of all, she's Renly's childhood friend and crush. When she starts getting strange phone calls at all hours of the day and senses that something just isn't quite right, her business partner insists that she has some protection. The last person she expects is her childhood friend.

As they catch up, explore their old feelings, and find a new happiness, an outside force sets out to destroy their newfound happiness. Can Renly stop the stalker in time?

This was a short, fun read that adds to Damien Stark's empire. I loved reading this and really enjoyed Abby and Renly's story.

This is a wonderful novella set in the Stark world that many of us love! The 1001 Dark Nights series is both a great way to have some insight into a new series – and if that is you, then you have a lot of Damien and Nikki goodness to catch up on – and a lovely treat for fans like me!

As we know, Nikki recently made Abby a partner in her business, but even if that had not happened, Stark Security would be taking any threats against her seriously. When heavy breathing becomes a possible attack on her car, new recruit Renly is dispatched. He knows that she is his childhood bestie, but uncertain of her reaction to him. He need not have worried, she has a big heart.

Hearts are definitely at risk as these two admit to their childhood interest in each other, and then have to decide how they could match up their divergent feelings about relationships. Avid fans will know that J. Kenner can turn a reluctance to commit on its head, and does it with great style here.

Fun read, and lovely to be back with the Stark clan.

Abby's never forgotten, nor gotten over, her former best friend, Renly. But he left one summer and she's never seen him since. Until the day she needs a bit of help, and suddenly he's there. Renly's been a SEAL, he's been all over the world, and now he's in front of the woman he's never gotten over, the woman he let get away without telling her how he really felt about her. Now that she's back in his life, will he let her go again, or keep her? Even if forever is something he's never wanted before. Can he figure out who's harassing her, AND keep her in his life, even if only as his best friend?

Memories of You is a short, sweet second chance at love tale. I liked both Abby and Renly, especially Abby, but I admit I wanted a bit (a lot) more heat and intensity between them. I didn't feel their connection as strongly as I wanted it to be, and I wish they could have been an actual couple for much more of the story rather than just in the epilogue. For a novella, though, this felt like a complete story, one I wish had been expanded to full length so that I could enjoy them longer.

This is a novella in the stark Universe, we get to see our beloved Damien Stark but this story is about Abby and Renly, a friends-to-lovers romance, with someone that always threatens them. It was a short but very enjoyable and entertaining story, if you love the Stark Universe you need to read this.

This one was just right! Just the right amount of spice, just the right amount of heat, just the right length for a quick read during this busy time. Abby is Nikki's partner and she feels like she is being stalked. She has been getting phone calls with heavy breathing and when she finds what looks like blood on her car she quickly calls Nikki in a panic. Nikki just happens to be talking with Stark Security's newest member, Renly, when the call comes in and when she runs off he is fast on her and Damien's tracks. He and Abby were the closest of friends in school and lost touch but now they certainly need to catch up and when Renly follows Abby home they rekindle more than just their friendship. What starts as a no relationship tryst turns into so much more. These two were made for each other and this one was so good! I cannot wait to find out what happens with Renly's twin brother.

A quick hot must-read, if you like your hero's dark and broody, and let us be honest who doesn't, all put together with a story of friends reunited. Now all grown-up Abby and Renley meet by accident but have reconnected as if they only saw each other the day before, not years later. While Abby isn't into friends with benefits relationships, ex-SEAL Renley doesn't believe in happily ever after. As a new member of Stark Security after leaving the glamour of Hollywood behind, his focus is proving his worth to his new employer. But Abby has always held a special place in Renlys heart, and when Abby gets a stalker the sizzlingly hot chemistry between the two is going to combust if they don't do something about it.

A really great Novella that now has been downloading the rest of the series.

Memories of You is a quick novella in J. Kenner’s Stark Security series, one that makes for a quick and easy read. Although I enjoy this one, it was a little bit too quick and easy for me. It certainly held my attention and I happily powered through it, but I would have liked a wee bit more.

I think the reason I wanted a wee bit more is because this was a bit too insta for me. They reconnected after being apart of years, and their teenage crushes instantly transformed into love. It was an enjoyable read, but a bit too easy for me – I prefer for a bit more development in these things, more slow building than we were given. Although a bit too easy for me, I happily powered through the story and devoured it in a single sitting.

Fans of the Stark Security series are sure to be hooked on this one. Although it can be read as a standalone, lots of references are made that will be lost to those new to the series.

Memories of You was a provocative 1001 Dark Nights novella set in the Stark Universe–a world that J. Kenner fans of course adore. The friends-to-lovers theme and a thrilling thread of suspense made this even more of a page-turner than expected.

First, you can read Memories of You as a standalone with no problem, but if you’ve been following Nikki and Damien’s journey or have read some of the Stark Security books then you’ve already met our heroine, Abby. As Nikki’s business partner in her tech firm, Abby had become quite successful but thankfully she remained the same grounded, sweet, wicked smart woman we’ve come to love... Read More

I love the Stark Security series and I’m happy to get into book six, even if it’s a novella. I’ll be honest thought, the summary doesn’t 100% match up to how the story plays out, but i’ll forgive that since we get exactly what’s needed in this series.

Abby if you remember is Nikki’s partner in the tech firm and we’ve come to really enjoy her throughout all the stories in the Stark world. She’s proven herself to be a great friend, a great professional and because of all this, she deserves happiness. How that pans out, well, we see some of that in this story.

Then there’s Renly – he’s new to Stark and as the summary suggests, he was a SEAL and then worked in Hollywood. We know that he isn’t a relationship guy so while his last one was ‘in the tabloids’ – it’s really not that serious in the grand scheme of things. The woman is one of the most desired women in hollywood but to him, that really means nothing.

What makes this story great though is the shared past that Abby and Renly had and how that manifests itself into the now.

We quickly learn that they were best friends, inseparable until Renly and his twin Red were moved away in high school and Abby lost her best friend and her crush. Little did she know that the crush she had on Renly was kind of the same that he had on her, yet neither one of them was strong enough to go down that path. I think that it’s for the best when you see how this story shakes out.

They come face to face when Abby is concerned that she’s being stalked but doesn’t know by whom. She gets hang up calls on her mobile and on her direct line at work and there’s never anyone talking. It’s not until she walks back to her car one day and finds it covered by blood (fake blood thankfully) that we see Abby and Stark Security merge. Renly is in the office when he hears Nikki share the news that something happened to Abby and he races out of there with her and Damian. When they get to the ‘crime scene’ – it takes just one second for Abby to realize that it’s Renly in front of her and she launches herself at him.

From this moment forward, we watch how they have such intense chemistry and magnetism that even though they know that they want different things romantically in life, they find themselves circling each other in the hopes to get the friendship back. They reconnect on so many levels and it’s like life was meant to bring them back together. Thankfully Stark Security puts Renly on Abby protection and they are together non-stop until things are sorted.

What happens – a night that they thankfully don’t regret, but one that they know can’t ever happen again since their friendship is far more important than a confusing relationship. That seems to work on the surface for them, until a night that Renly takes Abby as his +1 to a Hollywood wrap party and they run into his ex who forces Abby to stand up for herself and lay claim to Renly in the most carnal way.

Their story takes a change in trajectory but it’s one that works for them. What it also does though is it makes everything that Abby’s stalker does even more personal. And while we don’t know who it is for quite a bit, we have suspicions. He finally comes out in the open, poisons Renly and Abby so that he can get her away, and that means that all bets are off on what it will take to bring her back.

So…the novella is jam packed, and we get to see an evolution of relationships both professionally and personally and there’s a good teaser or intro into the next installment to this story – where we get to see Red’s life take center stage. We do’t know much about him, but we know that he was involved in Damian’s world back when his daughter was kidnapped. So, that means that his story – a full length one I believe will be even more exciting.

Memories of you una novela de Stark Security de J. Kenner dentro de 1001 Dark Nights, From Friends to Forever: A Love Grows Collection

Argumento:

Overall Grade: 4.5 ⭐️

Let’s talk about J. Kenner and her insistence on writing more stories in her Stark Universe. For this reader, I’m ecstatic. Any chance I get at peeking more into Nikki and Damien Stark’s world, I’m a fan. The Stark Security stories, the books that elaborate on the people on Damien and Ryan’s security team, add even more to the Stark universe in guaranteed edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense. And I’ve been front and center for each of them.

Enter the 1,001 Dark Nights novella, Memories of You. This is Abby’s story, the partner in Nikki Stark’s tech business. A second chance story with the boy next door turned heavenly hunk is everything you love about J. Kenner. There is suspense here: Abby seems to have a stalker or the seeming appearance of one. As the story begins, we find that Abby is receiving phone calls from a person who breathes heavily into her phone. Added to that is a splash of paint thrown over her car. All of these bring unease, and she reaches out to Nikki for help. With Nikki comes Damien Stark and his security resources. It also brings Renly Cooper, the one who got away. Renly has recently left Hollywood. A stunt man who found himself ready for something different, Renly’s SEAL background makes him the perfect candidate to work for Stark Security. It also connects him to Abby, the girl next door and his secret crush, as he steps in to protect her. However, Renly has a secret, and it keeps him from ever acting upon his crush. As Renly and Abby work to deny their attraction, Abby finds herself in further danger. Will Renly be able to protect Abby, or will he lose her forever?

There are three tenets of J. Kenner’s Stark stories: suspense (which this book has in droves), steam, and a satisfying story. Kenner presents all three of these in a quick story. She gets in and gets out, sometimes at the expense of developing Renly and Abby’s story. Honestly, I wish there was a bit more here because, while an ancillary character, Abby has taken up some space in this world. Even more, the culprit of this book is fairly easy to find. That isn’t always the case with her Stark stories.

Beyond that, Memories of You was enjoyable. I love jumping back into this world, peeking on some of my favorite Stark characters. There is one guarantee with a J. Kenner book: you are never disappointed. And Memories of You definitely doesn’t disappoint.

MEMORIES OF YOU is instalment 5.5 and novella in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult STARK SECURITY erotic, romance series-a spin off from the author’s numerous Stark Series . This is former US Navy SEAL turned security specialist Renly Cooper, and Nikki Fairchild-Stark’s business partner Abby Jones’ story line. MEMORIES OF YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from first person (Abby) and third person (Renly) points of view MEMORIES OF YOU follows the rekindling friendship and relationship between Renly Cooper and Abby Jones. Renly and Abby were childhood best friends and neighbors but a Renly’s parents’ divorce pulled Renly out of Abby’s life. A few letters here and there ended any chance of staying in touch, and our couple eventually lost contact with one another. Fast forward to present day wherein Renly Cooper, tired of working security for the Hollywood elite, finds himself contracted with Stark Security where he will reconnect with his childhood friend but all is not well in Abby’s life-a potential stalker has laid claimed to our heroine, and targets Renly in his attempts to take what doesn’t belong. What ensues is the quick rebuilding romance and relationship between Renly and Abby, and the potential fall-out as Abby finds herself facing a man whose obsession is quickly spiralling out of control.

Renly Cooper doesn’t do relationships but a one-night stand with Abby is all he is willing to offer the woman he cannot forget. Abby Jones knows that one night with Renly will never be enough but the heart wants something Renly isn’t willing to give. Pressure to prove she is worthy of Renly’s love finds Abby accepting his terms to keep him in her life but Renly has a secret, that if revealed, may affect his future going forward. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense with a single scene of voyeurism at a local $ex club.

MEMORIES OF YOU is a story of second chances; a rekindling friendship that leads to romance for one couple whose lives were torn apart years before. The fast paced, character driven premise is captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and dynamic including the cameo appearances of Damien and Nikki, and the introduction of Renly’s brother Red whose story is next in RAVAGED WITH YOU.

5 Getting the Unexpected Second Chance Stars!!

Anytime I get to go into the Stark world makes me giddy with happiness. This book especially because we’re getting Abby’s story, who is Nikki’s partner and I never thought we’d get her back story. And it’s so good!!

Renly and Abby grew up together and she had a mad crush on him. But as sometimes happens they lost contact and never expected to see each other again… until the day Abby has to enlist the help of Stark Securities and, yep, Renly is her bodyguard. I loved how these two reconnected, admittedly under stressful circumstances, and their friendship picked right back up and that crush from years ago? It’s even stronger today, but better yet, Renly feels the same way!

Unfortunately, it’s not that easy for these two. There’s reticence from Renly because he’s been burned and doesn’t want to risk the renewed friendship with Abby and while they’re on fire together, is it enough to convince him she’s “the one?” But more importantly, can he protect her from someone that’s made it clear they’re NOT happy with Abby right now!

Since this book is a novella it moves at a rapid pace! I literally sat down and as always happens with Ms. Kenner’s words, I lose myself in the story and finished this in one sitting. As things were happening and coming to a culmination, I was gasping out loud and when it’s revealed who the perpetrator is, I said out loud, “Get Out!!” totally wasn’t expecting that! And this is one of the many reasons of why love Ms. Kenner’s words so much. She’s always able to keep me on my toes because I’ve never figured it out before the “reveal.” This is a perfect addition to this series and I’m so happy that we got a story that wasn’t expected, but is so appreciated because I’m a sucker for a second chance romance!

What a fabulous “friends to lovers” novella to treat yourself to on a lazy summer day. J Kenner throws us a steamy action-packed snack for the Stark world romance readers. If you are an avid Stark aficionado this will not disappoint.

description

This story is really kind of a “second chance” troupe as well. Both our lead characters pined for each other when they were in high school. A parental divorce leads Renly (former Navy Seal and new recruit to Stark Security) into a forced move across the country away from Abby (his bestie and secret crush) in high school. 10 years later, she’s partnered with Nikki Stark and happenstance ends up drawing Renly to the scene of her “stalker” issue and they reconnect. And “reconnect” they do.

Abby has a heavy breathing stalker and Renly is just the security guy to protect her. As proximity often does, they can’t keep their hands off each other – even though she is a “relationship chick” and he is more of a “friends with benefits guy.” As the stalker drama significantly escalates, Renly suddenly realizes that he cannot live without her during the final action scene. All of our Stark Security heroes pitch in to solve the stalker situation in the end. And as usual, Ms. Jenner throws us some yummy Damien Stark into the mix as well.

Memories of You is a quick, sweet romance with a little action on the side. I definitely recommend this taste of the Stark world – and you will really want to go back and read about all these Stark Security hotties in the series.

I received this ARC from the author for an honest review.

“...can’t help but fear that the boy I always needed has grown into a man I can never have.”

Anytime I get my hands on a new J Kenner read I know I’m in for a treat. Once again I was not disappointed. Even in a novella you can get so wrapped up in her books. Don’t let the small (if could be 1,000 and I’d still want more) amount of pages mislead you...they are full of goodness!!!

“It was a good feeling, and terrifying too, because he knew so well that it could all evaporate in an instant...Close friends, gone in an instant. His own life changed in the blink of an eye.”

This story will keep you guessing until the end. Along the way you will have tears, laughter, be fanning yourself, wrapped up in the action and mystery.

“Just tonight,” she said. “Because I missed you, and I trust you.”

Childhood crushes that have you guessing can you ever truly get over your first love? Is it the familiarity? Danger? The what if’s? Or soulmates?

“I want it all, and while part of me hates that he’s seeing me so needy and desperate, a bigger part of me is turned on by the fact that it’s him who’s made me this way—and that, of course, he knows it.”

“...he wasn’t smart. He wasn’t even honest. Not with himself, and not with anybody else.”

J Kenner always shines a light on important issues and how they impact regular people like you and me, daily. She brings it into our awareness in a unique way. This book also adds a backstory to characters we already know and love...and adds a great addition to the Stark Security team.

“I never wanted the world. All I’ve ever really wanted is you.”

Looking forward to Red’s story in Ravaged With You!

I love the Stark world and it just keep getting better and better. Not only do we get to read about a new couple but we also get to see what is happening with Damien and Nikki and their family and friends.

Abby Jones works with Nikki Stark, first as an employee and now as a partner. She loves her job and loves the friends she has made with the Stark's and how they treat her like family. She does every so often think about the boy that got away, her childhood friend Renly. Renly, a former navy seal is now working for Stark Security and he is there when Nikki gets a panic call from Abby. They all go to the office to find Abby and that's when Abby and Renly finally see each other the first time since they were teens!

Damien ask Renly to protect Abby until they can find out who is stalking Abby and Renly obviously has no problem with the assignment. As the 2 catch up on what has been going on in their lives, they admit that they were attracted to each other when they were teens but was scared to admit it to each other. Both decide to follow their attraction (from then and now) and get into a relationship. Things are going well when Abby gets kidnapped and Renly is injured when her stalker is finally revealed. Renly of course, is going to save Abby and will put his navy seals training to work but his secret comes out that his has virtigo and that could impact his performance.

But the Stark Security team doesn't back down, especially when one of theirs is in danger and a plan is put in place to rescue Abby. I love this novella and we finally get to see Abby get her happily ever after.

This book was absolutely fantastic!
I absolutely adored reading this novella! I’ve read many fantastic romance novellas and can confidently say I highly suggest starting this book when you know that you have time to read the whole thing right through. 😉 It’s the kind of story you don’t want to put down!
I haven’t read the other books in J. Kenner’s “Stark Security” series but I’m now sufficiently hooked. 👌🏻😆 I LOVED this story! I already can’t wait to reread it after binging the rest of this series!
The dynamic and history between Abby and Renly leaves you wanting more after (and during😉) every chapter. They’re so steamy, swoon worthy and exquisite together! An absolutely perfect pairing! I hope to see them appear in future stories, because I hated saying goodbye to them at the end of this story! 😩👌🏻💚💛💙🤞🏻
I’ve said this before about other 1001 Dark Nights novellas and will say it again: “Memories Of You” is a perfect blend of all the best romantic story aspects you can imagine. Angst, intrigue, action, steam (lots of it 😏🔥), tension, heartache, hope and (of course) an abundance of passion mixed in! Plus, it’s all rolled up in a perfect little package you can binge all in one sitting! See? A perfect blend of everything you want in a good romance novella! ❤️ I adore all the 1001 Dark Nights novellas and this one was no different!
This book is amazing and I can confidently say I highly recommend reading it!

Memories Of You
Stark Security 5.5
J. Kenner
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Forever a stark fan, I was looking forward to reading this… and it started great, I was full on loving Renly and Abby then it was all over… leaving me a little devastated! Don’t get me wrong any HEA is good but the ending all seemed a little rushed, while this didn’t dampen my opinion of the story I felt it should be said.

Renly and A by had grown up together until his parents divorced and they moved away leaving a devastated Abby to moved on with her life. Now many years later, Renly is back and Abby has grown into a beautiful, talented woman who is the object of someone’s creepy affection. As new hire at Stark Security, Renly is assigned to Abby, and it’s not long until they are mending old fences and creating a new friendship, ones with very sexy benefits.

Not a easy girl Abby knows Renly suffered during his time as SEAL, and takes that all in her stride as they move towards a relationship, something Renly has no need for. So when Abby becomes the target of foul play, Renly is women to the fact he may just lose the woman he loves! If it’s not to late!!

Memories of You: A Stark Security Novella by J Kenner . This is the story of Abby and Renly. Once childhood best friends, they reconnect after Abby discovers she has a stalker. Abby has always been a tech geek. Now she works for a premier company where the owner is married to a guy who owns a security firm. Renly is no longer in the Marines. A accident on assignment has left him no longer able to serve. With a new job at a security firm he is shocked when an assignment has him protecting his old bestfriend. They haven't seen each other since high school. Once inseparable, circumstances called life had different plans for the two. A cute tale about past friendship, past feelings and reconnection, while Renly tries to keep Abby safe. Initially I didn't connect with the story. Not sure exactly what my issue was with this story initially but as I continued the story my feelings definitely changed. I liked both Abby and Renly. Their journey to reconnection was cute and I was happy for them. The discovery of the stalker was entertaining as well. I really didn't see that coming. An enjoyable quick read. I give this story 4 stars.

I love second chance romances, especially when the separation was caused by external forces, i.e parents. Renly and his twin brother Red, who we met in Cherish Me (another 1001 Dark Nights novella) grew up with Abby, Nikki Stark's business partner. When his parents suddenly divorce and move the boys, they never get a chance to say good-bye. All during their freshman year, Abby and Renly fought their feelings for one another, not wanting to jeopardize their close friendship. When fate brings them back together and their worlds merge again, because Abby has a potential stalker, their friendship picks up where they left off. They appear to be at a crossroads though she's not interested in a hook-up or friends with benefits arrangement, and Renly doesn't do relationships. Circumstances have each of them compromising on what they thought they didn't want.

I would have liked for this to be a little longer than it was, although not necessarily a full blown novel length. I think the hotness factor would have amped up further if their long-held feelings had a chance to play out a little slower. Still an enjoyable read, especially those who follow the Stark and Stark Security universes!

Memories of You is a not exactly-second-chance second chance romance. Abby and Renly were friends as kids until high school and they had feelings for each other. However they never actually acted on them. The love/lust was there but they decided not to act on them or even voice them because they were afraid it would ruin their friendship. When Renly's family relocated they lost touch and far brought them together once again in our book.

The pace was good for a novella. What worked in the book's favor is that Renly and Abby had a past connection, otherwise I would have found it too abrupt. The main focus is on the characters getting to know each other again and not on the suspense as one might think from the blurb. Overall, I didn't have a problem with the story and it had the usual quality a J. Kenner book has. My problem was with the epilogue because it seemed to indicate trouble for a couple that we don't know much about other than the two mentions of the husband in this novella. It felt out of place and by reading the blurb of Red's (Renly's brother) book, it makes sense. Still, it felt weird as it was the main focus on the conclusion of Abby and Renly's story.

Sweet and sexy! Terrific characters, a fast paced storyline and a bit of thrilling intrigue and danger. I zipped through this one without a minute of drag with the newest Stark Security hottie, Renly and his bestie from long ago, Abby. She’s all grown up and a tech wiz in business with a Stark wife, but she’s got a problem that needs Renly’s expertise. Yup, she attracted the wrong kind of attention without a clue who is behind the unsettling events. It’s Stark to the rescue when things turn up a notch. Since Abby and Renly are old friends the fast romance is realistic and so hot. I love this couple as they get reacquainted as grown ups. They laugh, they play, they love. Renly is new to Stark and is keeping a secret that could affect his job. There are a few tense moments that cause Renly to doubt his job effectiveness especially when Abby is in danger. That danger is resolved with the Stark crew in action. I love this group of baddies as they jump in to save the day with newbie Renly. This is another fantastic 1001 Dark Nights novella and a wonderful addition to the Stark Security family. Loved it!

Memories of you is the 5.5 book by J Kenner and it is another incredible addition to the Stark Security series. If you love stories which get your adrenaline pumping, and keep you on your toes, then Kenner is the author to read.

Renly is a recent addition to the Stark security firm, but he is ready to get stuck into the nitty gritty, and want to be put on a big assignment. But when he is allocated the role of bodyguard to a woman being stalked, he initially is not so thrilled, but as soon as he realises it is Abby, a girl from his childhood, it sweetens the deal.

This is a great book where the characters have attraction and chemistry. Abby cannot help but feel drawn to Renly, but he has been burned and very much doesn’t want anything more than a casual relationship. But the heart wants what it wants.

This js a great read for catching up with characters who you already know and love, or just a excellent start to a series for any new readers. Kenner’s writing style is easy to get on board with, and her book boyfriends are always to die for. Renly is certainly one of my new favourites.
