My name is Sara Slick, and I was an average teenager. I worked hard. Followed the rules. Took care of my family. But normal dissolved the night that the hidden world of The Far showed up to accuse my dad of heinous crimes against the magical community.
To protect the ones I loved, I took the blame and the sentence of ten lifetimes in The Deep.
No human had ever been sent to this paranormal prison.

They couldn’t have been more wrong.
I survived by becoming the kind of human the magical world feared. Now, a decade later, I need to escape from hell before the home I sacrificed everything for meets its end at the hands of a maniacal, master wizard and his army of fanatics.

A dead body. A strange cult. A terrified people.
Sounds like the perfect place for the Heinous Sara Slick.
OK, so I escaped from magical prison, saved my home town, made some friends, and managed not to die in the process. Not too bad for the Heinous Sara Slick.
But now what?
Hobbes, mastermind of all things evil, has gone into hiding, and all my leads have dried up. With the Philosopher’s Guild hot on my tail, the smart choice would be to lay low, bide my time, and take things easy.
Or, I could investigate a brutal murder deep in the woods of rural Apalachia.
Dead bodies keep turning up outside a small secluded community. And these bodies look weird. Like, giving-off-major-Farsider-vibes weird.
So, of course Ally and I are going to investigate. Who doesn’t love a road trip? The trick is solving these murders before getting my friend killed in the process. I can deal with Farsiders, but sometimes there are worse things than monsters living in the wild.

International intrigue. Deadly assassins. Tacos!

As long as I can get past the TSA.

What doesn't kill you ......
A fabulously funny but also heart breaking story of self sacrifice & how far would you go to protect your family , Sara Slick web a lot further than the extra mile she went to the Far , the Deep partner it to be exact but from a friend she gets the strength to survive & right back Slick seems to acquire friends & enemies almost without trying & sometimes it's hard to tell one from the other A great take that will having you cheer for Slick while at other's you want to hug her , Archie stole the side kick prize & often had me laughing out loud as did Sara's internal monologue Great well thought out characters with a few new species I've never heard of before & a story that kept you wanting more I was sad we didn't get to enjoy the end more but think all was said with the taxi snelk

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SERIES!!!!!
If you love supernatural books that keep you guessing and at the edge of your seat for most of it. Then this is a must read Series. The story of Sara Slick is emotional, funny, crazy with many twisted and epic battles for a peace that she didn't think would be a good thing but then realized that it was better for both sides to have the chance to live together peaceful with push and pull of both sides to adjust to the new reality. This series was so good I binge read the whole thing in just 2 days because I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next. Although there is still some things that were never told or writing about what happened to Solon or how the family reunion of Sara finally going to see her family for the first time since she was taken away. It most definitely would have been a great part in the series and I hope the story doesn't end. It was so well written and amazing that I can't wait to read more story that they come up with. Keep up the good work guys!! 👏 I look forward to the other stories written but this one will probably be my favorite!!!

I didn't write a review for each book, because I kept reading!!!!
Writing reviews is really a good way to let others know how you like or dislike a book. If I can read a little, then put it down for a few days, the book is a dud!!
These books didn't sit long at all. In fact I've lost some pretty important sleep because of them. I'm kind of a slow reader ( reading is my sanity break). Well St Branton and LE Barbant I'm glad to look like the sheep stampede of the century!!! These books are GREAT!!!

Hot the first book as a freebie and loved it...so when this set was on offer I couldn't resist!! WOW an amazing box set and a tale with such wonderful characters, journey and world. Slicks journey from innocent highschooler to saviour is fantastic...and with just the right amount of attitude and gumption, and friends that make it so worth it. You won't want it to end!! Right, into the next series.....hmm Forgotten Gods here I come!!!!

15 year old thrown into prison from hell. Sorcerer saves her. Next chapter 10 years later she escapes walks into bar and stars fight. Unbelievable.
The prison time should have taken up half of the book. A a girl with no experience walking into a bar like she does it every day and starting a fight that no one seems to care about. I stopped reading after three chapters.

Loved this series, got pulled in from the start, the characters come alive a must read for anyone.
I am never left disappointed when I read a book by these authors. They truly are exceptional authors. I personally would recommend reading any of their books. You will not be disappointed.

Teen angst
This is YA despite Sarah being 25. She acts and thinks like a teenager. This doesn’t feel like a coming of age as no growth. I was bored.
