Braeden: For five agonizing years now, I've tried to push the lush, far-too-sweet woman out of my life, and my dreams. She's a human, which makes her a danger to all the shifters in Night Falls. She's also untouched, which makes her a danger to what little restraint I possess around her with each passing day. But seeing as how she's my little sister's best friend, avoiding her hasn't been easy. And now that there's a shooter targeting the pack, the only way I can keep Paisley safe is to keep her close. As if that weren't impossible enough, the pack alpha goes and makes a decree. For her protection, Paisley needs to be mated to someone in the pack by the end of the month. Damn it all to hell.
Paisley: I'm pretty sure the man hates me. To Braeden, I've always been the human he wished his sister would stop being friends with--literally a different species from him, being that he and his sister are wolf-shifters and all. After years watching him blatantly keep his distance, no one is more shocked than I am over his reaction when the shooter that's after the pack takes aim at me.

Braeden is Taron's second, also an Alpha, but a wolf-shifter. Paisley was Clover's best friend and is human.
This started off well, it was nice to catch up with Taron and Onyx, although it was more from a "distance". Paisley returns from College to bury her Grandmother who has recently passed. Things get heated when someone starts shooting at them - injuring Clover and causing her to shift. Up to this point, Paisley has been kept from knowing about the true identities of the MC. Then the story kinda gets lost - I wasn't sure about the whole "dating" thing, especially as she actually only went on one date with Rooster. The unrequited love Braeden and Paisley had for each each would've have been better without the infernal miscommunication and Paisley's whining inner dialogue - it got irritating very fast. I felt there were some chapters missing, they came together far too easy with too little resistance after such a big build up - but at least it was in the waterfall and not in a draughty ol' barn!
I loved Clover, I so hope she gets her HEA! The sign-language between the girls was a neat trick against the ever prevalent shifter hears all!
The finding of the shooter was well played - I didn't like the person in the first book, so good riddance (a tad harsh??)
The ending was a strong HFN, although I do wish there was an epilogue!
I was so happy to read the first in this series. Til I read this and realized he was going to let landa suck him while he had a thing for his mate even said he “always loved her” and her for him. Sick…mates shouldn’t be able to get turned on for others once they’ve met and the fact that she woulda blown him with his permission if he hadn’t said another woman’s name was the worst injustice you could do to a mate romance(besides going through with the cheating but he intended to). I don’t think I can give the rest of your books a chance if you make choices like that. It was totally unnecessary and disgusting. Plus we all know how Landa is and if he was willing to do nasty things with her while “in love” with his mate, well then he isn’t the guy I thought he was and doesn’t deserve paisley. Which makes it even more messed up that he’ll get her even after thinking he screwed the club whore the day before seeing her again. For no good reason! He was drunk and boohoo landa was touching herself and then came onto to him and he allowed it!!!! Disappointed but now I know. I’ll try the third book in hopes it’s like the first but it’s the last chance I’ll give. I’m serious when it comes to mate books.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This one was actually filled with inconsistencies from book one. Still a lot of stuff isn’t clear. There is essentially no world building still. I mean, why does the president of the MC have to step down because his mate is pregnant? Do they have jobs? Like come on, we need more !
I felt like the MCs in this one were really lackluster. Braeden was totally different than the way he came off in book one. Paisley was fine. I mean again, this author gives very little away about her characters. They are strangely superficial. I will say, the only thing that made me raise my brows in interest was the antagonist. Didn’t see that coming.
These books should just be KU. They are grossly overpriced for what the reader gets.
I liked this book, but I think it could have been so much better if it were longer. Also, I think Paisley should have let him sweat it out. All this time he's been an ass to her and now all of a sudden he loves her and she just opens her arms. Damn, let him work for it. But I do look forward to the next book. Hopefully it's longer and more in-depth.
This second story is a bit more angsty than the first one, and that suits me just fine. This was a nice continuation from the first story in this Universe.
I couldn't wait to read this book. This is the second book in this must read series by this author. This is a book you will want to sink you teeth into. The story pulls you in right from the beginning and holds you there till the very last word. This is the story of Braeden a alpha wolf shifter and the human that he loves Paisley. She is the best friend of his little sister and she doesn't know their secrets. They are shifters and she can't know. That is why he has ben pushing her away for years. That all changes when Paisley and Clover are shot and Clover changes to her wolf to help her heal. The alpha of the pack has decided to keep Paisley safe and not expose them to the human world she is to stay with them for 1 month and also to be mated to one of the unmated men of the pack. This is a surprise to Braeden and Paisley. Braeden wants to kill anyone that gets near to her, but he will still not admit that he is in love with her. Their chemistry is off the charts and when they succumb to their attraction the fireworks explode. Their journey to their happily ever after is full of suspense, danger, drama. You will enjoy this book and series. Looking forward to read the next book. I recommend this book and series.
I truly loved this book, the writing was so gripping, emotional and as soon as the book grips you, hooking you and keeps you spellbound until the very end, while rooting for Paisley and Braeden. Human Paisley only has one friend in town, her best friend Clover, and her grandmother Holly. Everyone else avoids her and Clover's brother, Braeden hates her and wishes she was not friends with his sister and it looks like he is getting his wish as Clover has become very distant over the last year. When Paisley comes back for her grandmother’s funeral, somebody takes a shot at her and Clover and she discovers that her best friend has kept secrets from her, BIG secrets and she can't help but feel even more alone and ostracized.
As a human she is not allowed to know the shifters secrets and that leaves the pack in a difficult position to keep their secret. When Alpha Taron and the pack gives Paisley 30 days to either be mated or be eliminated, Braedon sees his chance to act on his feelings and mate her before anyone else can. Based on Braedon's previous treatment of her, Paisley believes that Braedon is only wanting to make her out of an obligation to his sister and keep her alive and is resistant to him. She would rather die than mate someone she doesn't love and doesn't love her. The shooter's identity and reasoning was an interesting twist. Great read highly recommended.

When Paisley's only remaining relative passes away while she's in college she comes home to sell off the livestock on her Aunt's farm and sort through her belongings in the home. Since her best friend, Clover, has been steadily pulling away the past year and her best friend's brother, Braeden, (who she once was friends with too and has had a crush on for years) has gotten ruder and meaner over time she feels more alone than ever.
Paisley is determined to finish her business in one weekend and then leave never looking back. Her plans are changed when someone shoots at her and Clover. When Clover is seriously hurt and shifts into a wolf the secret Braeden and Clover have been keeping from her finally comes out and to protect her Braeden's Alpha decrees she must mate a shifter within a month.
This is the first book in this series that I've read and I believe the first book by this author too. It wasn't quite what I expected. Instead of a lot of angst it was more Paisley feeling sorry for herself where Braeden is concerned and more than a little repetitiveness about why she and Braeden shouldn't mate. I felt the part of the story about the shooting could have been elaborated on greatly.
I enjoyed this book. However there were a few things that did bother me. Paisley is this strong woman who's independent. I think Braeden needed to be kicked in the balls. First for how he treated her for the last five years and than for the barn. The BARN: OMg people, I get that some people may have thought this was hot, and in some ways it was but.....It also made me terribly sad. This is the woman he loves????????? IT shouldn't have gone down like that. And what the hell was the matter with Paisley? The first offer of kindness he gives her and she's willing to forget all of that? Especially the barn. Hell no, she should have made him work way harder to make things right. She deserved better. It was a strange ending, for the conflict. It was horrible one minute and the next it was over. That didn't sit well for me, like the author forgot to let us in on how exactly she forgave him. Or how it was all bad one minute and the next they were in love. Just because he wanted to make love to her and not screw her? It made me feel like Paisley was a pathetic girl, and that bothered me. However in saying that, It was mostly an enjoyable read. And I like the author.
One slip of Paisley’s name will earn her a one way ticket to death but will Braedan be able to save her in time??? I just got done reading Toren’s and Onyx story and at the second to last chapter and the last chapter is a 9 month difference how pregnant Onxy is. This story takes place in the early part to middle of that 9 month mark since Onyx has a slight baby bump and thinkings it’s only 1 cub, it’s just to tell you a timeframe. Clover and Paisley has been best friends for a very long time and even Braedan was in their group but when Paisley was 14 she know she would marry him, she was 16 when he fell in love with her and the start of his plans to distance himself from her and try as he might to plus Paisley away from his sister since Paisley is a human and humans can’t know about shifters and most of the people Paisley interacted with were shifters including the alpha Toren. But their secret will only last until the shooting that takes Clover out and Paisley also..... who’s the shooter that wants to see either Clover dead or is their aim for the human?.?
A nitty gritty novel that will have you captured from beginning to the very end. Action with romance sprinkled throughout it. The alpha was a bit pig headed. But he finally got it all together towards the end. The main female was on point and I loved that even if she did freak out in some parts, she did it perfect. Glad that one character got what was coming though in all this. Paisley didn't have the time to do what she all wanted to do with her grandmother's cabin. It brings in all kinds of good and bad memories. Especially the man she loves, but he treats her like dirt. Even with all that he still knocks the breath out of her lungs with just a look. Braeden doesn't want his sister's best friend in his house. He knows she has a thing for him. But he can't act on it due to what she is... a human. So he's bent on pushing her out of both their lives, much to the dismay of his sister. Then the girl's grandmother, her only blood relative passes away. She's back and that's not all she needs a place to stay for a moment....
Braeden is very protective of his little sister Clover and all of the town’s shifter residence. More so since everything that happened months ago in Night Falls. No one can know what they are. However, when Clover’s best friend is back in town for her grandmother’s funeral, it becomes even more difficult. He’s loved Paisley for years but she’s not a shifter. Then Paisley and Clover are shot. Can he keep Paisley alive after she learns their secret?
Paisley grew up in Night Falls with only her grandmother and Clover as friends. Everyone else seemed to shun her. When Clover begins to back away from their friendship after she leaves for college, Paisley thinks that after her grandmother’s funeral, it will be her last visit to their little town. Everything changes when she and Clover get shot and she sees what they’ve has been hiding from her their whole lives. Will she make it out alive?
I loved the continuation of the series with Resisting His Mate. Braeden and Paisley’s sexy times were definitely enjoyable. Braeden was a bossy jerk most of the time but his heart was in the right place because he was only trying to keep Paisley safe. Him being a jackass was endearing in a strange way. The story was great and kept me interested throughout the book. The characters were fun and interesting and they were all the club members from the first book. I’m about to read the last book in the series which is Enticing His Mate, Joshua and Clover’s story. I’m sad to see it end. I was hoping that Rooster and Clark would get their stories told . Christa is one of my favorite authors so I know many more great stories are yet to come. Until next time y’all happy reading.

Overall I enjoyed this book. That being said I spent a very large portion of this read actively disliking Braedon. Close to the end of this book this situation did got better but I'd be lying if I didn't say it negatively effected my enjoyment of this book. I refuse to give spoilers but I will say I did not care for his attitude but I truly had issues with some of his actions. On the plus side, I did really like Paisley. I thought that she came across as genuine and quite relatable. Her feelings came across the pages beautifully and they were easy to connect with. I thought the storyline was quickly paced and quite engaging. There is plenty of excitement, danger, drama, emotion and a few twists to be had as things progress. All and all a good read and I am very much looking forward to book three. This is my frank, freely posted review.
The 2nd book in this amazing shifter series! Braeden is an Alpha wolf shifter and he is in love with his youngers sisters best friend Paisley, only problem is she human and doesn't know shifters exist. When Paisley witnesses her best friend Clover shift into a wolf to help heal herself after an attack the pack Alpha demands she become mated to one of the pack to protect her and keep her close by so she wont put the rest of the pack in trouble. Braeden is stubborn when it comes to admitting his feelings for Paisley will he fight for her or let her go to another member? a well written steamy shifter romance, with danger, suspense, twists, action, desires and I cant wait for more!

Paisley and Clover were best friends growing up. Clover's older brother, Braeden, had been a friend too up until they turned 16. For an unknown reason, he suddenly pulled away from her and outright avoided being anywhere near her.
When something happens during an attack and Clover is shot and injured, Clover turns into a wolf in front of Paisley. Not knowing what else to do, she contacts Braeden. Since she now knows about wolf shifters, their Alpha will take her into the pack if she gets mated to one of them within the month. It is very possible that Paisley is Braeden’s mate. But will she ever believe him now that, after pushing her away all those years ago, he suddenly wants her in his life? Or will she choose one of the other unmated pack members instead?
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. I have mixed feelings about his book. On the one hand, even after knowing this story is called Resisting His Mate, I was not pleased with how very, very good Braeden was at resisting Paisley. Almost too good! Goodness! It made me so sad to feel Paisley's perceived rejection from Braeden. It was also a little weird for me to read Braeden refer to both Paisley *and* his sister Clover as 'babygirl'. On the other hand, the shooting and storyline surrounding that event was very well written! I could not read fast enough, trying to learn who the shooter was.
I really enjoyed this re-edited version of the original, although I can't quite remember if it was that different. I'm still giving this 5 stars, even though I thoroughly disliked Braeden's actions throughout a portion of the book, mostly just because the storyline was so engaging and I enjoyed the low-key angst and suspense. Luckily as the story progresses we get to understand why he did what he did and his true feelings towards Paisley and boy does his inner marshmallow feelings hit you where it counts!
A lot of grammatical errors in this book. For a book that isn’t part of KU that I had to pay for and that is part of a series, I expected a line editor to have gone through this at least. It’s also just blah story wise. Really rushed feeling and like the writer didn’t have anything to write other than a few sex scenes. I haven’t read the first book in the series and won’t after reading this. I honestly wouldn’t have even finished if I hadn’t paid for this book.
This is the 2nd book in this shifter series and it can be read as a stand-alone. Paisley and Clover have been best friends since they where kids. Braeden is Clover’s older brother and as Paisley got older, he seems to push her away more and more. When Paisley discovers that Clover is a shifter, she is in danger and must find a mate within the pack. Can Braeden convince her that he really has feelings for her? Fast-paced read with loads of action, steam and twists and turns. A good read.
Book 2 in this brilliantly written shifter series, this time we follow Paisley and Braeden. The plot moves along at a nice steady pace and has plenty of mystery, surprises, twists and turns. Paisley is human and so that in itself throws issues up as Braeden is a wolf shifter. I really liked the characters, the main and the sub characters in this book and this series. Looking forward to more.

One would think that shifters would have realized by now that resistance is futile when it comes to mates. Braeden has done his best to avoid Paisley even though he knows she's his mate. Paisley is human and doesn't know about shifters. When her best friend Clover is shot, Paisley will get a crash course. Can't wait for Clover's story.

I really preferred this book to book 1. For some reason I liked the main characters a little more here. I just feel the stories are too short though!
It would have been lovely to see their relationship develop slowly rather than the hot and cold we got here. I really am looking forward to reading Clover and Joshua’d story. She wasn’t as annoyingly childish this time and I enjoyed reading about her relationship with the heroine.
It was okay but prob wont read the rest if the series
A pretty quick read. I liked the potential of the story but it fell kind if short.
It felt like there was a lot of time wasted (especially for how short the story was) with the two main characters thinking about how much they liked each other but never showing it.
The ending when they finally got together felt very rushed.
Once again Christa has written a fantastic book in the Protected by the Pack series! It’s my favorite so far! Braeden and Paisley were made for each other. Their story has captivating characters and an intriguing plot full of twists and turns that you won’t be expecting! If you like a great shifter romance like I do then Resisting His Mate is the Book for you!
