Rate this book
A former recruit of the elite Painted Guard, Garrett Weaver fled his supposed duty to his people and the realm when the illustrious company he sought to join betrayed him and all those he knew and loved. Garrett barely escaped with his life, and only then thanks to a former enemy coming to his rescue.

Still, Garrett has swam in the realm beneath the waves long enough to know that nothing comes for free in the watery Salt world. The only question is will he be able to pay the steep price required when his newest journey leads into the darkened depths of The Devil’s Triangle?

Aaron Galvin learned that he could get away with making up stories at age five and has continued telling them ever since. He is a conflicted Slytherin/Gryffindor, a known rascal, and sometime ne’er-do-well.

Also, he writes. Daily, sometimes, but mostly nightly.

He currently lives in Southern California with his two lovely daughters and an adoring wife, who continues to put up with his antics even though he doesn’t write the kissy-kissy, ‘everyone lived happily ever after’ books of which she much prefers.

NOTE: I have written this review for the Beneath The Salt, Salted Series Book 6 as a whole instead of reviewing the individual episodes. The full boxset will be available in the new year.

I have been reading and reviewing Aaron's books for as long as I have been writing this blog, and they still surprise and shock me in so many ways! This series is epic in scale, but don't let that put you off, there's so much story, so much action and the characters are all really investible.

All of my favourite books have something in common: clever planning. I love it when small moments in the early books lead to big things later on. And I love books with multiple threads that are pulled together for a finale. This book is the book where all of this is starting to happen! All the threads are starting to come together, and I am here for it! This series is epic in scale, but don't let that put you off, there's so much story, so much action and the characters are all really investible.

This book follows five characters; Garrett, Sydney, Kellen, Lenny and Chidi, characters we have followed from the start.

Garrett is a BAME character with Vitiligo, which is part of the reason I love Aaron's books so much. The characters are so diverse. He's a teenager and he's trying to find out more about who he is. Garrett's is a coming-of-age story arc with a twist. He's our voice and view of the salt, we learn alongside him.

Sydney is a second outside voice, another teenager and Garrett's best friend. However, through her eyes we see another side of the salt, helping us to understand the good and the bad of this underwater world. She is my least favourite character in the series, mainly because of her personality and actions, but she has had the most significant character development in the series so far, and it's been a joy to watch her change and grow.

Kellen is the third teenager in the book, and a school bully. Through his eyes we learn to see the worst the salt has to offer, but his chapters are some of my favourites because I find it interesting to read from the point of view of such a flawed character.

Then we have our two salt natives Lenny and Chidi. Lenny (who has dwarfism) was born into the salt, and we see the world through native eyes. Chidi (another BAME character) has been living in the salt world for a while when we meet her, but she was born on land. Chidi's story is one of nightmares, and Lenny's is one of duty.

Together all of these characters give us such a detailed and interesting view into the world. But it's the salt itself that's interesting too. Aaron writes about the salt as if it's a character in its own right, which is really cool, the salt has its own personality and motives, and its own temper.

I was engrossed in every single character's story in Book 6, unlike the last couple of books there wasn't one storyline that I preferred over the other, because they were all equally as gripping. There's something really big on the horizon for series 7, something world changing if it happens, and the stakes are getting really high now. I am so eager to get the next book in my hands and to continue this journey with these characters (which I started all the way back in 2014!)

If you are new to this series, it's not too late to catch up, you can get all of the books free on kindle unlimited at the moment, and you can grab the first book box set on amazon for 99p (at the time of posting this).

The Devil's Triangle (The Salted #26) By Aaron

Garret (is) now in the Devils Triangle, once again he is faced with some harsh realities. Trying to adjust and accept certain truths is not easy for him. New danger awaits, his life is anything but easy. Chidi is also back, she too is facing many changes and adjustments. Sydney still has it the hardest, as her new life style is so difficult to accept and many dangers await her.

A fast paced original story with likable well develop characters. There are new enemies and salt creatures that our friends are encountering. Life under the Salt has taken a new turn and each is facing uncharted territory. I was hooked from the first page. I highly recommend The Devil's Triangle to those who love a great (dark) fantasy.

Having read the previous twenty-five episodes of this series you’d be forgiven for expecting Aaron Galvin to have found a pattern, or formula, for his series set under the sea. You might think you know what to expect and to a certain degree you’d be right. I expect great writing, great characters, a wonderful setting and a story that is addictive reading. What you might not expect is episode twenty-six to feel new, to feel original, while having many of the things you have come to know and love about the series. This is all achieved with this story that had me silently screaming for more. Each episode of this series seems to raise the bar higher and higher for what this series, and its creator, can achieve. Another must read episode from an absolutely unmissable series.
