The violent, unforgiving mafia world hasn’t just stained my hands with blood, it has tainted my very soul.
Victor. River. Alexei.
Each man holds a piece of my soul in his hand.
The bullets are raining on us.
Bombs are exploding in every corner.
And I fight even when my body and soul bleed.
I am on the verge of breaking down, but I still can’t give up on loyalty, duty, and love.
Can we survive the assassinations threatening to eradicate us all? Find out in this thrilling, action-packed sequel to the series that will have you on the edge of your seat while you enjoy some fan-your-face moments with Danica and her mafia men.
The Knight is the third book in the Sokolov Mafia Clan series, a contemporary dark RH romantic suspense series and is for mature readers who enjoy their mafia romances with no restraint to language, violence, and heated scenes.
Ivy is an Electrical engineer by profession. She started writing fanfiction in her spare time and after a whole year of writing, she decided to start writing an original series with her own characters and has never looked back.
Although, work and tight deadlines often have her drinking coffee, she is a tea-lover at heart. She loves to read, but keeps taking trips to Hogwarts now and then. (Who could miss JKR's lovely invitation?) Her favorite current TV shows are Game of Thrones and Pretty Little Liars.
The story progresses as new elements come to light. More enemies emerge against Victor and the Sokolov gang and Danica is in the front lines to protect her three men and save the mission. But lines are blurring and more destruction is taking place in Danica's life while she proves her loyalty to Victor. Will she come out of it with her sanity intact?
This book was wanted but not much needed if that makes sense. However, the storyline was good and I am eager to see where this leads when Danica reveals her new identify.
The Knight is another fast-paced jump back into Danny's not-so-undercover (where it counts, anyway) job to infiltrate and help take down the Sokolov family. One of the things that I've enjoyed is that Clyde doesn't pump in a bunch of filler at the start of each book, nor does she make us miss out on how a scene or conflict wraps up.
In book three, we get to rejoin Danny as she's dealing with her guilt for having to stab her mentor, so we're starting off heavy, but that's the general way this series is trending. Sure, there are some moments that made me laugh, and there are clever threads of romance woven in as Danny's relationships with each of her men continue to develop, but we're dealing in mafia, murder, and all things bloody.
As far as our characters go, I think that Clyde is doing a nice job with their development so far. Each book, we get a little deeper of a peek at their vulnerabilities and the little ways they're changing because they now have someone(s) to share themselves with. In Danny's case, we've seen her world swiftly go from black and white to gray, and I'm afraid that shade is getting a whole lot darker.
River is still wonderful, and he's one of my favorites. The poor thing has to go through a bit of a wringer since in most ways, he's still sidelined while his family goes out into the sh*tstorm that is happening to the Sokolovs. There are some really nice spots for growth with River, and I'm enjoying the way Danny's character is bringing about a really natural-feeling change in who he is and what he wants from life. Honestly, I do like them all, which isn't something I say about every RH book. I think there are enough humanizing factors for Victor that the monster lovers can still swoon over him in all of his bloody glory while the more middle of the road readers can still see him as worthy of being a love interest. Alexei has stayed true to his character, and although I think he's showing less growth than the other two, I think that he was in a position where he didn't need to shift and change as much, so I'm not unhappy about that.
Something to note is that we're starting to get little breadcrumbs of how Danny might be able to pull off her job and also save her men, which is something I've been a little on the edge for. I've been wondering how she'll actually be able to do that, and Clyde starts laying our foundation in this installment, so I think that'll be a gradual build, but that'll make it all the more believable. We're going to need to see more of these characters being pushed before the Sokolovs would be ready to leave their world behind.
Overall, The Knight is a strong continuation of the series, and we're getting what fans of the genre and fans of Danny and her guys need: LOTS of mayhem, a thickening plot, gory flirtation, and a steady shadow of darkness that'll keep us in suspense.
This was a little slower then the last 2 books, however it was still a good read... I honestly don't know how I feel about this book though... I kinda have mixed feelings on where this author is taking this main characters... It's like she went left and I don't like the path she's talking our heroine on... It's turning me off...
I think I need to pause this series right here and take a break... Just a short one!
This book had a lot more action and drama between the warring families and their allies. Lives are lost, people are injured, and betrayals are coming to light for Danny and her men. This was a much needed action packed addition to the series. The story flowed well and kept my attention from the moment I started. This series has always had some triggering themes like violence, blood, drug use, and murder but this one steps it up a notch with drug addiction of one of the main characters. While I mostly enjoyed this book, I still had a few complaints.
There were a handful of grammatical errors such as omitted words or incorrect terminology (needed instead of needle as an example). The pronouns were mixed up quite a bit when discussing Danny. There were several instances where the men referred to Danny as “she” and “her” in conversations with other characters who didn’t know about Danny’s true gender but the mistake was never acknowledged by either party which led me to believe it was a typo. There was only 1 case where it had been pointed out by the other character so maybe it was intentional on the author’s part and will play into how Danny’s identity is discovered.
Even though I am enjoying the plot and progression of the series, I’m still hung up on Danny’s original mission. She was sent in to gather intel to bring the entire empire down. That empire largely rests on the backs of 2 of her men that she claims means a great deal to her, enough that she risks her life multiple times for them both. She has a lot of internal dialogue about how important they are to her but then in the next scene, she is plotting on how to steal from Victor to further her own mission. I guess I would have expected a lot more internal conflict, indecisiveness, guilt, and questioning attitude from Danny than what I saw. I am interested to see how the conclusion will play out, will Danny follow through with her mission or will she turn her back on her old life? 🤷🏼♀️
Man, everything is falling apart in this book. Everyone is unhinged. Danny takes a bullet for Victor and then her recovery leads her into a battle she never expected. It's so sad. Honestly I'm so worried. And as much as I want to like Victor, I find it hard to see any redeeming qualities. There are glimpses of a kind person inside him, but he throws temper tantrums when things don't go his way. Do you really think someone who does that can run a criminal empire well?
Clearly I'm too invested in this story, so thanks, Ivy, for writing a series that has taken over my life the last few days.
I can't imagine what's in store for Danny and River in the next book. I know that the big reveal is coming and Victor is crazy enough to torture and then unalive everyone, especially those who betray him. I think an undercover cop posing as his enforcer/lover counts as a HUGE betrayal. My stress is at an all time high.
DNF @67% I think the only reason I actually made it to book 3 was my desire to find out what happens in the end, but I just can't keep going. The biggest reason being the development of a gay man suddenly not being gay because of this one girl without any actual personal growth or acknowledgement of this change. The second is the prevalence of using the wrong pronouns for the given situations. The characters will be talking to outsiders while Danny is a boy and be calling Danny a "she" instead of "he". It really just kills the vibe entirely.
Anyways, needs some good editing to change those pronoun issues and maybe some more character development. I'd like to see a character see this change in themselves and actually address it.
I definitely didn't expect to love this series as much as I do!!! The storyline is so suspenseful that I lost sleep not realizing how late it was telling myself, "Just one more chapter..." it's definitely in my top mafia faves!!
The spicy scenes are ridiculously hot yall🔥.. Youre on the edge of your seat from the beginning wondering when and how her cover will be blown.. when it finally happens you'll flood your panties and mark that chapter for future re-reads at night after kids are in bed.... (too specific? No reason for that at all... 🙃🤭)
If you're into some lite D/s & bondage, mm and group hookups with a badass storyline to go along with the badass female lead...... this was written for you and me friend 😁😘
3.5 rating This book was a little slower than the rest of the series. It’s not my favorite one of the series, but it’s still a good read. Honestly, I don’t know how I feel about this. I’m having mixed feelings on the path that the author is taking the main characters. I’m still looking forward to the final book and how Danica’s identity will be revealed.
There’s now more chaos and destruction taking place in Danica’s life while she’s protecting those she loves and proving her loyalty to Victor. The lines have now become blurry.
I keep waiting for Danny to realize that bringing down the organization is basically going to send the 3 people she loves to jail. But nope. She keeps missing the mark. A lot of the previous stuff she's done could be blamed on keeping the cover but this book ticked me off because she's willingly letting someone drug her and take her choices away. The last chapter broke me a little but honestly she deserved everything she gets.
After everything Danny has had to endure in the mafia, the hits just keep on coming. She keeps digging herself deeper in to the mafia, along with her men. I really feel like this book was a turning point for her, but not in a positive way. After her most recent heroic act, her life starts to spiral and change. Just how far will she push and sacrifice herself for the plan she has in mind?
I really enjoy this series and I live the characters and relationships. I'm not a massive fan of the addiction subplot butbim ssuming it will resolve it self by the end. The second book has been my favourite so far but I'm really excited to see how this story will progress...
Bloodbath after bloody bloodbath to addiction is the dark theme of this book. Not sure how to feel about the addiction part, I honestly didn't think she would. The things she said and doing are so far out of her character that I am having a hard time digesting my feelings. I for once don't feel excitement for the next book, just dread.
Ivy Clyde, this is another great book!!! Danica AKA Danny and her men Victor, River, and Alexei continuation in this third book sucks you right in like the first two books! This series is addicting and my favorite is River, such a kind hearted soul. Victor is so driven and passionate while Alexei is so protective of her. This fast burn book, you will love!!!
Danica saved Victor but is now paying the price. So many people are dying all around her and she is doing things she never thought she would have to. This book showed a new side of Danica that I’m not sure I like. I understand why she was behaving that way but it makes me nervous about what’s to come.
I really am in love with this series. Lots of incredibly intense action scenes and badass moments! I was so absorbed throughout the whole book, loving everything that's happened. I love our Danica and her men they are just sooo amazing! I hope more people see how amazing this series is!
Not sure how I feel about the addiction. It doesn’t seem like Danny and it almost feels like the story was running out of interesting things for the MC so it was like a shark jump there. It will be interesting to see how book 4 takes it.
Dark and beautiful. This story is so well written. The life of a mafia prince and those around him. Including the undercover cop that’s fallen in love with him. Amazingly done!
The twists are getting more radical. Danny is getting deeper and deeper into the gang and the backstabbing gets more intense. I like how Danny’s problems are done and the subtle changes with the characters from the start. Can’t wait to see where this story ends.
Just really enjoying this whole series. There was so much happening to our 4 mcs in this book. I am excited for the last book and keep trying to guess what will happen.
Now that was a crazy way to end that book! The murders, the shoot-outs, the addiction, the upcoming blackmail etc. Wow. I kinda like how the author doesn't make Danica to be this really nice person. She's got her faults and that makes her even more real. Can't wait for the next and final book!
Took me forever to read! Loved the first book, liked the second, and this one was just…. Meh. I’ll read the last one (hopefully it’s actually the last!) just to see how this ends, but I’m just not interested anymore.
I stumbled upon this series and couldn’t be happier. The story keeps getting better and better on each turn of the page. I couldn’t put this book down.
Ivy Clyde has once again sucked me in. Danny is struggling with her loyalties in this book and it really makes you feel for her. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
