Enticing His Mate: Joshua & Clover

Rate this book
Clover: The man may be my brother's new second in command, but to me, Joshua's just the bossy pain in the ass who's way too good at getting under my skin. To be fair, I suppose my less-than-sunny disposition when he's around can take some of the credit for provoking him. I can't help it. He's the pack's alpha cat--a hulking, hot mountain lion shifter, and thus the bane of my existence on principle. Cats and I, we don't mix. A pride of lions from California had slaughtered my parents when I was a kid, making sport of hunting me nearly to death as well. Then not too long ago, a psycho she-cat shot me with a poisoned dart. Seriously. Give me a skunk over a cat any day.

Joshua: I'm well aware of how easily I can rile up my boss's little sister. Who can blame me? The feisty she-wolf is like my own personal catnip. With claws. So when a rare second heat sends Clover running for the hills--my hills--there's no way in hell I'm going to let the opportunity to finally claim my mate pass me by. Her head may have her convinced she can't trust me, but the rest of her sure isn't listening anymore.

This little morsel of a book is an Erotic ,PNR, Shape-shifter romance with an Alpha male "cat" shifter who is part of the Wicked Woodsman MC,and his BBW virgin who is a "wolf" shapeshifter.
A quick read that was enjoyable and some really, really hot scenes that scorched.
Looking forward to the next in this series.

An exciting, emotional read

You should read this book! Christa Wick has a way of telling a story that will pull you in, make you laugh, and get you frustrated because her characters just don't see the whole story! This book has so many great elements that it constantly holds your interest. It is fast paced and some of the conversations will leave you grinning as you read them. The plot is spaced out well so the action, dramatic, amorous, and violent parts are evenly distributed. It was fun to read. I highly recommend it.

This is the 3rd book in the series and can be read as a stand-alone, this read was previously published and edits have been made to this edition. Joshua is Braeden’s second and a pain to Braeden’s sister Clover. Clover has an issue with cat shifters but Joshua plans to make her his. Can she stay away or is the attraction to strong? Fast-paced shifter read with great characters and lots of emotion, drama and steam. I liked it.

Enticing His Mate is the 3rd book in the Protected By The Pack series. It's a PNR with to many editorial errors, hashtags galore and no depth to the characters. Contains suspense and a decent HEA. 2.5 stars is my rating.

How awesome is this cover!? 🙈😏😈
To be honest this is the reason I chose to read this book even if it was part of a series that I haven't read yet. When I saw it as a recommendation I drooled so much! 🤤🔥
And yes covers play an important role when I choose a book because it's the first thing you see from it 🖤

Anyway! That was a really nice shifter romance, I really love those actually and maybe they are one of my favorite genres. Clover is a wolf shifter and Josh is a mountain lion shifter. She doesn't like him at all and all the time she mentions how much of a "cat" he is. I mean lol.. 😜

Sure, it doesn't help that Josh is Clover's brother second "in command" after him. That means that they are around each other most of the time and Clover's brother often asks him to take care of her and etc... Guess which girl gets angry because of that. 🙈

On top of all that Clover is having her estrus! Or heat cycle..you name it 😈
That means that this girl is having some very specific needs. And there is a sexy male "cat" that follows her literally everywhere, ready to take care of those needs 😉. But of course Clover gives him hell and doesn't make it easy for him. What she didn't realize though is that two can play this game and Josh can totally "sex" her up and then go away when she's full of lust because of her bad attitude.. 😈

•"Finish on your own.”

We have a sassy wolfling and a bossy lion here! Explosive combination if you ask me.. 😈🙈🔥🔥

It's finally Clover's story!
This sassy, strong willed, good hearted, brave wolf shiffter is my fav girl from the first time I meet her in book one.
Always the first one who jump to help, Clover hide her own vulnerable heart. Her fear of rejection make her buried her long time crush and turn it to hatred.
Meanwhile Joshua who is now Braeden second Alpha after their previous chief Alpha step down, only put his eyes on her as her brother Cat spy. And when her heat struck, Clover angry to learn that cat just want her because she's in heat!
Little did she know how wrong she is.
Until she sees for her self how Joshua would fight to death to protect her.

This book is definitly my fav of all three books in this series. Clover and Joshua's enemy to lover romance is kinda cute with steamy vibe going on. And there's a lot of detail steamy even though there's only one time they finally did it! The waiting is making me crazy!
I mean, he teased her. Give her amazing O then bam! Leave her hanging with no follow up cause he wants to be a gentleman and do the right thing before he claim her!
Gaah Joshua is frustrating yet so sweet and swoony.

Love this series!
Love the action and suspense scenes too!
And when Clover show her power? That is one awesome super power!

This is a new author to me & I was pleasantly surprised at how well this entertaining shifter romance was written. The plot is well-paced & has some very suspenseful situations. The characters are definitely quite strong-willed individuals with confrontational attitudes & they are not willing to compromise under any circumstances.
It is about: a feisty female wolf shifter & die-hard spinster (Clover Hughes) with a hatred for cat shifters due to past events in her life has a major problem with an alpha male mountain lion & vice-president (Joshua Reeves) of the Woodsmen MC club & unknown to her, Joshua is quite determined to claim Clover for his very own.
There is: Clover’s brother (Braden) & alpha pack leader/president of the MC club, various kinds of shifters, mates, intrigue, drama, suspense, action, adventure, danger, threats, enemies, abduction, confrontations, violence, conflict, friendship, trust issues, longings, heat issues, fear, devastating memories, denial, complications, rejection, disagreements, manipulations, humiliation, discipline, spankings, determination, insecurities, apprehension, contentment, love, some steam & a satisfying conclusion. I enjoyed reading this shifter romance & look forward to future books from this author.

Joshua reminds me of tales and dreams. I loved the story. Is not perfect, some things could be better explained (Like her "powers") and there are holes. I think normally I would give this a 4/5 or 3/5 but I think I see myself coming back to this book sooner than I imagine.

1. Did I like the resolution? Yes. Liked the way it ended. Actually loved it. Something about that soft resolution, made me fell in love.
2. Had a good plot twist? Is romance, so... yeah
3. Were characters' personalities relevant? Definitely. they were relatable.
4. Did it have Intelligent dialogue? Sometimes, yes....
5. Did the Story have coherence? Mmmm Yes?
6. Would I read it again? Yes
7. Did you skip over at some point? Noup
8. Did you consider DNF? Noup
9. If it is a whole series, would you consider reading it? About them? Yes

I don't know. I guess, even though it is not is not a 5 star book in my standards, I mean it did not blow-boom-out-of-the-park my mind, I fell in love with it. I think it was the ending. I think is the concept that it brought up. I think I found a piece of myself in it and that is rare. Is hard to explain I guess. Is not a technical 5, it is a gut-heart-felt-sentimental 5.

Finally, a love story about Clover. Clover has always had a fear and hatred of cat shifters since her parents were killed by them. She really hates her brother's second-in-command, not only because he too is one but because he is arrogant.
Joshua has always known that Clover was his mate but he knew her past would make it hard for her to except him. This time he's not going to take no for an answer. She is his.

When she is at a remote cabin alone with him when her heat comes, she will do everything in her power to fight the newfound feelings of attraction that come with it. As she runs from him, she runs headlong into a danger that could spell the end for her. Will she finally be able to let go of her past and build a new future that she has always looked for?

These two have s sizzling chemistry. I may have hated at times how her scheming family were making decisions for her, but it all worked out in the end.

I'll start by saying I liked this book. I had been eager to read Clover story since meeting her in book one and from what details that were let drop I was excited by the Clover/Joshua pairing. While I wouldn't say I was disappointed by this book I freely admit I didn't love it either. I think this was because I was anticipating a much more emotionally based story considering Clover's painful and traumatic history with cat shifters. Now, I'm not saying that the book has no emotion because it does. But for me personally, I felt the emotions stayed mainly on the surface and sadly never went any deeper and I found that a bit of a let down. What this book did offer though was a ton of intense action, drama and danger. Also, I felt there were a few interesting developments that just did not get a satisfactory explanation in my opinion. I'm not sure if the author is planning more books in this series, I do hope so because not only would I love more details on that whole situation I was talking about and between the past two books and this one, there are several other characters I would love to read stories about. I'm posting an independent, impartial review.

I loved it! Just like I did the other two books in the series. Joshua was alpha delicious with a ferocious need to protect Clover who he has loved for many years even though she was stubborn as the day is long. Clover has all women hear me roar good but at times her need for independence lead to some reckless and childish behaviors which put others in danger. I liked that there was a little intrigue, action, and drama but not over the top. There was some sexual angst but again it wasn’t excessively over the top. I’m sad to see the series end because their were so many more stories to be told. You can read this book and the other two books as standalone but they are so enjoyable if you read them in order because of all the wonderful characters that enter twine all the books. If this is your first Christa Wick book give yourself a treat and read the other two books in the series as well as any of her other books. Until next time y’all happy reading.

Another very entertaining yet suspenseful action packed shifter read with intense chemistry in this series and I loved it as much as the prior books. Clover hates cat shifters, she has good reason to, cats killed her family leaving only her brother and herself and to add insult to that a she-cat recently tried to kill her. Joshua her brother Braeden's second in command is a cat and Clover has done her best to avoid him and to try and hide and hopefully kill her attraction to Joshua. Joshua has known for a long time Clover was his mate and why she hates cat's and as everyone around them starts settling down and finding their mates, Joshua knows its time to convince Clover to give him a chance. Their alone time in the cabin is interrupted by her heat and the danger she finds herself in after she runs from him. Great read - highly recommended.

I liked the other books in this series so much more than I enjoyed this one.

For me it comes down to this; Spanking's can be super hot, when followed up by pleasure. But when your naked in a shower with a guy and for the second time in a row and he completely humiliates you again by leaving you cold and alone and after you've told him you want him. That's not anything close to pleasurable. But then you get your self out of the shower only to have him spank you twenty five times on the bare ass with no pleasure to be followed......... Alright, I'm thinking it's all out war. I hate how in her books the woman are back to the early nineteenth century stigma. Woman need men to make their fudging decisions??????????????
BACK TO THE BOOK
Some how she's not at all bothered by his actions and right after that she's all mooney eyed over him again. and confused about her feelings. Like what the flying fruit truck is that? Seriously, get some self dignity and worth.

Clover is a wolf shifter and lost her parents who where killed by lion shifters when she was a child, since then she has mistrusted any cat shifter kind, especially her brothers 2nd in command Joshua a mountain lion shifter. Joshua knew Clover was his mate but had to tread carefully knowing her families past. but when they end up alone in a cabin Clovers goes into heat and runs instead of facing the feelings between her and Joshua that send her into the path of danger. can Joshua save his mate, will Clover let her past not define her future and a chance of happiness? a well written shifter romance with suspense, desires, past traumas and sizzling chemistry between the characters that make for an engaging and enjoyable read.

#ReallyGood

Wolf shifter Clover has a deep aversion to cats of any kind. A pride of lion shifters slaughtered her parents in front of her and her brother. They barely survived until they were taken by their current motley pack of shifters. So, when the VP, a mountain lion shifter, starts to show interest in her during her fertile cycle, she runs. Unfortunately, she runs right into a pack of inbred hyena shifters. Can things get any worse?

Mountain lion shifter Joshua has known Clover was his mate for far longer than she realizes. The signs were there but he understands her reluctance. When she was almost killed (see Resisting His Mate), he nearly lost his mind. Now that she’s going through a rare second fertility cycle, it’s worse. After she runs and he chases her, she’s more stubborn than ever. But now they’re dealing with inbreeds and things just went from bad to worse.

An absolute fantastic read. This is the third book in this Protected by the Pack series and you will not want to miss this one or any!. This is the story of Clover and Joshua. Their story will take you on a roller coaster ride. Their banter is amazing, their chemistry is off the charts. Clover has always feared cat shifter Joshua, who just happens to be her brother's second in command. Joshua has always know that Clover was his mate, but with her family history know he had to stay in the background. When things turn and Clover takes off running, Joshua is hot on her trail and he will finally have her. This is a page turner, I can't wait for the next book. A must read, you will not be disappointed.

Ooooh hot and spicy. Glad that she got her happy ending even if it was one hell of a roller coaster ride. The main Characters were strong and loved that the past charaters were throughout the story too. Loved all the snarky banter between them and the feisty attitude of the lead female. Tons of action and romance snippets throughout.
Clover's not happy at all. Last thing she needs is a babysitter. And a cougar shifter at that. Her brother knows she has no love for cats. So why is he saddling the cat the with her. She can take care of herself. That is until the unexpected happens. Can cougar shifter Joshua keep his President's sister alive and somehow make her fall in love with him? Or will he use up all his nine lives keeping her safe.

Christa has written another fantastic story in the Protected by the Pack series! It was a great enemies to lovers romance! Joshua has loved Clover for a long time, but Clover is afraid of cat shifters because her parents were killed by cat shifters. Joshua knows how to get under her skin. She thinks he doesn’t like her. When Clover needs him Joshua shows up to protect her and show her that his feelings for her are real. This story was full of action, suspense, danger, adventure, enemies and wonderful romance! I enjoyed this book so much! If you like shifter romance like I do then Enticing His Mate along with the rest of the Protected By The Pack series is for you!

Could have skipped this one

I don't dig manipulative, abusive men oven if they are strong, hot, saviors. No way do all the women in this book have huge, elastic vaginas that don't hurt at all when they loose virginity. I am really tired of problems being caused that could be fixed with a simple conversation. It is not at all realistic for suddenly falling in love to erase years of serious trauma and PTSD.I hate this overused narrative of a woman saying no but a shifter saying yes because he smells arousal so he keeps moving forward sexually with a woman - ignoring consent is not sexy. If I am being petty, I really do not like the word "mound" - it is not at all sexy.

After reading the first 2 stores I couldn’t wait for Clover’s story. While the others has many sexual moments, this one gave Josh the case of blue balls. He had to wait for Clover to get over her anger towards felines before he could touch her. Clover first met Josh when she was 15 and knew who and what he would be to her but fought him at every turn. Now when she runs away because her again rejected her last thing she would even had to deal with shows up to kidnap Clover while she’s in heat again..... inbred hyenas! Will Josh get to her in time for the hyena alpha claims his prize??

This series was cute. Just one problem. This one ended with gaping plot holes. Clover has absorb the Alpha "force". Okay.. How? Where did it come from? Does she have some kind of special power? Is it unique? They mention it in passing and that's it. Nobody was shocked or asked her about it. Why can she "see" it when she's not supposed to? Is she secretly an Alpha as well? It was her and her new power that saved everybody at the end. Then after that finale battle there is literally one sentence about it... that's it. Never mentioned it again. Very frustrating 😕

Book three in this series is just as great as the previous two books. Even though each book concentrates on a different couple and so can be read as standalones there are some characters that appear throughout the series. The author has done a wonderful job with the characters and they have a nice amount of depth to them. The plot is a fun and enjoyable one to read.

Cat and mouse

I enjoyed this story more than the previous two.. partly because I love Clover, and partly because I love the interaction between her and Joshua. Even Mallory is softened up a little in this one. I also liked that while there were sexy times, the main event wasn't until after these two had settled their differences. I know that doesn't mean much to a lot of people, but that's important to me.

I was so close to giving up on this book right at the beginning (first I’ve read of author). The main character thinking in # hashtags was beyond annoying, and I give these kind of books a lot of grace.
But if the author wanted to commit to someone that Hashtags so much their inner dialogue is shaped by it, then commit, even though maybe the author didn’t because it’s an annoying character personally. The character doesn’t take a picture in a week?

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. By far, my most favorite story in the series. I loved the chapters from Joshua's point of view. The shifters they encounter and the direction the story took from there was very interesting. And Clover? Ack! I can't say anything about her without spoilers, but it was the best!

Exactly what the blurb promised

No plot spoilers
No potential triggers
There are some grammatical errors that irritated but not enough to detract from the storyline.
The characterisation is okay, but I did find the FL childish. The ML was more than a little obnoxious.
There are some sex scenes and some swearing.

It was fine, although there were a lot more typos than there should have been. Nothing really makes this story different from others, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It's just common. 2 stars.

Also who the fuck thought it was a good idea to include all these random ass hashtags in the story? I hated that so much.

What a read!

Clover and Joshua might be the hottest couple In this MC shift romance series. The angst attitudes And the way they both denied How they felt, Made this entire book A possible reread. The chemistry between them Left Off The pages. Gotta love A motorcycle riding shifter!
