Agreeing to escort Princess Christina to the Kingdom of Galarc was one thing... but facing the overwhelming strength of Beltrum's army could've been more than our heroes group bargained for. And yet, thanks to Rio's otherworldly strength, Charles and his army were dealt with swiftly, with the former now captive as Rio's prisoner.
But upon their arrival in Galarc, Rio has another challenge to overcome... The hero, Sakata, is waiting for him!
This light novel really doesn't have any main plot. Author insists on writing about everything the main characters eat, all the parties they attend, and the dialogues (unnecessary) they have between them. Main character saves Princess Christina, for no apparent reason nor reward. He risks the spirit folk that were entrusted to him. Miharu and Latifa haven't even been mentioned and both were the most important to Rio (Haturo) in his current life and previous life to favor his "enemies" like Stewart and Duke Huguenot (enslaved Latifa, tortured and abused her and with Latifa tried to assassinate him). Rio actually worries more about the Japanese citizens (Rei and Kouta) that the "hero" Rio brought when the Princess Christina summoned him. Actually spends more time with these people than with the people he supposedly "loves" (Miharu, Latifa) The original main plot was Rio's desire to get revenge from the murder, betrayal, sexual abuse of his mother in this hellish alternate reality world. Lucius murdered and abused his mom when he was 5 years old. Rio let Lucius go at the end of volume 7. Lucius let Reiss go more than 4 times already. These people have harmed everyone and yet, are unbeatable and thrive in total impunity thanks to the author. In 6 volumes, Rio has done nothing to find Lucius until the end of this 13th volume, but the "emperor" doesn't really tell Rio anything. Rio's main problem is that thanks to the author, he captures then releases every enemy he and his retinue capture. In 2 volumes (since he saved her) has not even seen Miharu or Latifa. There is a moment where Rio confesses he has been helping the 2 Beltrum nobles that enslaved and abused Latifa. Rio actually does more for the people that have harmed him (tortured, abused, persecuted, tried to assassinate him) than for his loved ones. Rio received a house in Roldan and gave it to Celia to live. Rio doesn't work, doesn't earn any money and shops more than most. Rio has no ambitions for wealth, fame, or more power. Before he used to train every day. Now the author doesn't write anything about this. The only thing Christina and Flora are good for, thanks to the author, is to be hostages. Rio has yet to gain anything from being their constant savior. The house he received in Roldan was given to Celia. The Schooling he received at seven years old was a way the King of Beltrum (García's idea) to spy and control Rio (because they thought he was a criminal). Is there a limit to the times the same characters can be kidnapped or used as hostages in a light novel by the same exact antagonists?
I love all of The Spirit chronicles and I’ve read them twice in just 2 months but this one really should have had the tea party. After talking so much about it and planning it throughout the whole book the author just says in three weeks they had the party and they had fun and then just goes onto the next part. It really should’ve had that in it especially because Latifa would be meeting Lisollette for the first time. I give all the other books in the series 5 stars but this one 3 because of that detail. It would be fine if they didn’t talk about it that much throughout the book so you wouldn’t be expecting it if that were the case it would be a five star for me but because they talked about it so much you were expecting it and then it didn’t come so it’s a letdown. But everything else about the book was great and I can’t wait for book 16 and more.
This serie hasńt change too much from the first volumes. Long dialogues which are an example of etiquette, but sometimes get boring. Almost in every conversation, characters are apologizing constantly and the story moves at a slow pace. There are a couple of action scenes, one of these is almost identical to the previous volumes. A good cliffhanger at the end that made me curious if the author will solve it easily or the story will get a twist, at least the cover for volume 14 looks interesting.
I do enjoy reading these books. But I'm getting a little frustrated with Haratu. He has the life experience of a man in his mid 30s. And the other reincarnated people are 20 and 30. So they shouldn't be so naive. The only one's who should be acting selfish and petty are the summond teenagers. And they do. Which is also frustrating. You would hope at least one of them would realise they're situation and grow up
A thrilling volume, with a cliff hanger ending! Rio still going everywhere, the future for Latina, and danger to the Restoration. I'm not as interested in the Mihuru events of previous volumes (she's a brand character) but now with more focus on Celia, Christina and Flora, the story move quickly in this volume. On to Volume 14!
I like continuation of the story that has a lot of drama and interesting things going on I like the way the characters are developed and I also like the world building although I wish there was a little bit more romance.
The story, scope and cast continues to grow, ending with another cliffhanger! ITs a good thing I am reading the series at a time when much of it is already written!
