I loved this book. I have been interested in Japanese culture since I was a teenager and am always eager to learn more. There were things in this book I knew, and a lot that I didn't. Everything is explained very well and all the information was well organized. There is a nice range of topics to cover all you would need to know to visit Japan and be respectful to the culture, etiquette, and people. A very enjoyable book. I recommend it and would read more from this author. 5 stars.

I mean certain things are better done than read and this book is the perfect example of it. Many good insights to Japanese vertical society in the beginning but things as for example bathroom etiquette is better learned in other ways than reading and plus the book has no photos or any graphs

I have already known that etiquette was vital for the Japanese. For them, it is not just a custom or politeness but their way of life. Respect is also important, being the eldest the most respected in Japanese society.
If you travel to Japan there are some words and phrases that are always helpful, like greetings, numbers one to ten and some questions. And don’t forget to nod when talking to someone. Things that are considered to be bad manners are pointing to a person and arriving late or too early among others.
A custom that we can’t forget is bowing: the deeper and the longer you bow, the more respect you show.
A very complete guide of what to do and what not to do when visiting Japan.
This book can be used as a manual of Japanese etiquette.

The information was good, but the format of the book was poor. The author’s name is nowhere to be found. There was a LOT of empty space on each page. It seems like it was meant to be a smaller book, but was then printed in a larger format without expanding the text. A good editor or proofreader would have helped tremendously. Sometimes a section title was the last line on a previous page. Why were there no page numbers on pages? There were page numbers on the table of contents, but not in the text. The book seemed unprofessional.
