“Impact” is a suspenseful, romantic entry as the first book in the Strategies of the Heart series by RM Alexander. Paige Reed emerges from a difficult marriage determined to put that part of her life behind her. Her bubbly sister, Lil, wins tickets to a movie crew party after swaying Paige to attend a local movie shoot featuring Grey Richards, the reigning heartthrob. Shortly after the event, Paige receives flowers from Grey and decides to drop in on more movie shoots.
During one of the shoots, Paige figures she’s seen enough of the filming and stops for a quick lunch before leaving the building. Kellen Richards, Grey’s brother and assistant, strolls in and asks to join her. After lunch, they go on a long walk along the river and realize how much they enjoy each other’s company. Paige soon finds herself longing to be with Kellen instead of his famous movie-star brother.
Kellen is also drawn to Paige and invites her on a weekend trip. Paige decides to take the plunge into a new relationship. As they board the train, Paige learns a family member has been in a severe car crash. With Kellen by her side, Paige rushes to the hospital. Between her job and visits to the hospital, Paige’s time with Kellen becomes limited.
When the location site filming ends, Kellen returns to Hollywood and Paige remains in Michigan, but that doesn’t end their relationship. He calls her almost every day and persuades her to come to L.A. During her flight tragedy strikes again. But was it an accident or sabotage? Can Kellen and Paige’s romance survive the devastating event that has changed Paige’s life forever?
This is an engaging, well-crafted story that shows how Paige manages to handle a life-changing tragedy and how Kellen will do whatever it takes to keep her near him. The author has exceptionally woven disastrous incidents into a heartwarming love story filled with suspense and mystery. I highly recommend this intriguing read!
Starting with a heartbreaking opening that depicts parental love and helplessness, this book instantly drew me in. We then are introduced to Paige Reed, a newly divorced 36- year-old, recovering from a controlling ex-husband. Her sister Lil soon convinces her that what Paige really needs to get out and start her life over. So why not go and see Greg Richards, the handsome mega movie star from Hollywood, coincidentally in town for a movie shoot?
They drive to the impromptu movie set and Greg is gorgeous, but it’s his brother Kellen who bumps into Paige and it’s attraction at first sight. The question then crops up: What happens when the possible love of your life is only temporarily visiting your city? How do you go from there?
As I continued reading, I realized this book could simply have been about a heartwarming romance (which, IMO, can sometimes be a tad boring), but no, this author choose to throw huge curveballs into the story, which kept me furiously turning those pages to find out what was going to happen next.
An extremely well written book with plenty of twists and turns, IMPACT involves love–for better or worse, a highly realistic look at physical disabilities, and to top it all off, plenty of cliffhangers. Highly recommended!
I thoroughly enjoyed this well-woven story. Paige Reed is recently divorced from a controlling husband and starting her life over as a single woman. Her sister, Lil, encourages her to go to a movie shoot and then an after crew party after winning tickets to attend. Paige unexpectedly finds herself drawn to the handsome brother of Grey Richards - Kellen Richards. Unlike his brother, Kellen is looking for something more real away from the Hollywood starlets of L.A. Paige and Kellen embark on a romantic journey. However, tragedy lies ahead and is about to turn their world upside down. Impact is filled with unexpected twists until the end that will have you rooting for Paige and Kellen.
The author weaves a well-written and impactful story - the title is poignant for several reasons. It was a page turner for me and one of the best romantic stories that I have read for some time. The author's attention to detail and descriptive narrative did more than draw me in, it created for me a visual too. I would highly recommend this read to all lovers of romance and romantic suspense as this novel covers it all. I will certainly be reading more by this author.
Wow! Just Wow! First time I've read this author and won't be my last. Beautiful writing, a wonderful romance, the Cinderella story of Paige, a normal girl from Detroit escaping a marriage gone bad, meeting someone filming a movie, who is drawn to her right from the start. The descriptions are exquisite, making me reread them on occasion, and the people so real that you can't wait to see their HEA. Yet this fairy-tale story does not always run smoothly. Twists and turns, heartache and sorrow, a thrilling suspense thrown in and what more do you need? A must read author, that I will look for again.
