Lily Paddington has a gift, but to her, it’s more of a curse. Three years ago, she walked into her husband’s dream and found out he’d been lying to her for months. Now she’d divorced, and doing whatever she can to make ends meet while raising her son on her own. After being unlucky in love, she has a hard time trusting anyone. But when she finds herself stranded in a small town overnight with Chase Garland, her walls start to crumble.
Chase Garland lost his wife in a traffic car accident over a year ago and has moved to Christmas Grove to start over. He’s content with his new job making magical edible chocolates at Love Potions, and even though he’s told himself he’ll never love again, there’s a charming co-worker he can’t seems to stop thinking about. After a night in a remote skiing town, it’s time for him to make a choice: allow himself to open his heart or give in to the fear of losing in love again.

Lily Paddington and Chase Garland are co-workers who are attracted to each other. Neither act due to their pasts until they become stranded in a charming skiing town called Wonderland on their way to pick up a new espresso machine for Love Potions. They enjoy a magical time which has Lily changing her mind about dating. Lily and Chase past hurts have them unsure about opening their hearts plus Lily has her son, Evan to consider. She does not want Evan to get attached to Chase and then things do not work out. Things are progressing nicely between them until a blast from the past enter the picture. Do Lily and Chase stand a chance? A Witch for Mr. Winter by Deanna Chase is the third tale in Witches of Christmas Grove. This book can be read as a standalone for those new to the series. By far, A Witch for Mr. Winter is my favorite book in this series and the authors other similar series. I found it humorous with great characters. I loved the town of Wonderland. I wish this magical town existed in real life. A Witch for Mr. Winter was easy to read. The story moved along at a swift pace, and it was over before I knew it. I like Deanna Chase’s engaging writing style. Her writing pulls you in and holds you until the end. There is foul language in the story, but I found there was not as much as in her other stories (I would prefer there was none). There is plenty of Christmas cheer in this cute story to get in the mood for the holidays. I especially enjoyed the interactions between Evan and Chase. I like that we get to catch up with Ilsa, Zach, and Holly from the first two books in the series. We get a preview of A Witch for Mr. Mistletoe at the end which features Olivia Mann and Declan McCabe. A Witch for Mr. Winter is a festive tale with an expired espresso machine, snowshoeing under the stars, magical mistletoe, tree trimming, a surplus of snow, an overbearing oaf, and a cheerful Christmas.
AUDIOBOOK: This was a cute romantic story with likable characters. Absolutely love the chemistry between Lilly and Chase. It pulled me in from the beginning. This story has something for everyone. This is definitely a great addition to the series. Looking forward to the next book.
We're back in Christmas Grove and it's Lily and Chase's turn to make things happen. Lily's been burned by love (or at least by her husband's infidelity) and Chase lost his wife. They're both sort of dancing around one another until a surprise overnight trip heats things up between them.
That said, Lily's not ready to jump in full throttle. She has her son to think about and she doesn't want introduce him to someone who's not going to stick around. Not that Chase has indicated he's not going to be around, but after finding out her husband was cheating on her, Lily's a little gun shy with her trust. So they indulge in a hot night and then decide to take things slow.
As for Chase, he's pretty smitten. He likes Lily. He likes her son. He's all in, he just needs to convince her to give him a chance to be everything to her.
A slimy ex, an odd sibling encounter, a distressing vacation, more than a few steamy kisses, and a little holiday magic. *thumbs up*
This is a great story. The author quickly drew me into this magical story and kept me turning the pages until the end. Lily and Chase are intriguing characters, each having past hurts that influence their views on love. This story has something for everyone to enjoy from humor, charming characters, and love. This is a great addition to this series.
The first book must have been a fluke for me not to like it. Again, I love the chemistry between the 2 characters. Lily did not want to get with Chase for fear of her son getting hurt. I understand that, but I loved that they were thrown together because of car trouble. Lily couldn't avoid him at that point and slowly, it worked out for them.
A Witch For Mr. Winter is the 3rd book in Deanna Chase’s series; THE WITCHES OF CHRISTMAS GROVE. This time the story revolves around single mother, Lily Paddington and widower, Chase Garland. Both have been single for over a year. However, both were scarred from their first marriages. Lily’s husband was inattentive and cheated on her. Chase’s wife was killed in an automobile accident. They are attracted to each other, putting it mildly. Although, neither is ready to date. Fate intercedes and they have car trouble while going to get a new cappuccino machine for Love Potions where they both work. Hormones rage and they have an amazing night together. (Nothing overly graphic). When they return to work at Love Potions, a potion and sweets shop, in Christmas Grove they can’t fight the attraction and begin dating. Then after 3 years of abandoning Lily and their son Evan, Lily’s ex-husband, Sean, calls out of the blue wanting a 2 week visitation with Evan over the Christmas holiday. This can’t be good! So read A Witch For Mr. Winter and discover the truths. I found this a very cute, sweet romance with the magic of Christmas interwoven throughout the story. I have read the first 2 Witches of Christmas Grove books and am hooked. They are released about one a year and I can hardly wait for the next book! I highly recommend this series to any romantic’s that enjoy a touch of magic. You can’t go wrong with DeAnna Chase!
Brilliant as always! A Witch for Mr. Winter was amazing. Deanna Chase really knows how to write so that it keeps her readers glued to a book. I didn't want to put this down but life got in the way but WOW what a story.
Lily and Chase had such great chemistry which Lily tried to fight because of her son....she didn't want him to get hurt. Thrown together because of car trouble they end up in a small town called Wonderland...so they try to make the best of things. Having to stay overnight they explore Wonderland and discover that the town is quite magical....I hope we see a spinoff series for Wonderland....I would like to explore it more. The characters are complex and easy to like....we see a few characters from the other books in the series. A truly magical read.
The story itself shows how heartwarming and magical Christmas can be and that is so true in Christmas Grove. The story just pulls you in and doesn't let go...I know when I read a Deanna Chase book that I am going to be transported to a mystical and magical place. I know that I won't want to do anything else until I finish the book. I hate saying this because I say it every time I read one of Deanna's books but I think this is the best one of the series...at least until the next one comes out.
Can we talk about the covers? Like they are absolutely amazing. Such beauty that if you judge a book by it's cover then you will definitely be picking up each book in the Witches of Christmas Grove books...
Highly recommend this book and the series. Yes you can read this one on it's own but to understand Christmas Grove and all the characters I recommend you get all the series. Someday I would love to buy this series and have it signed by Deanna...
This book was a magical story, literally! If you took a Hallmark story about a single mom, her adorable kid and a handsome chocolatier... this is pretty much what you would get. When the espresso machine breaks, Chase and Lily drive the few hours to pick up a new one, their car breaks down, leaving them in a magical town....with one hotel bed.
While Lily and Chase obviously have feelings for each other, Lily wants to protect her son if things don't work out between them. Unfortunately, noone tells this to her son, Evan! The two become fast friends-- especially bonding over cooking, reading and trains! With nary a football in sight! I really enjoyed watching Evan and Chase bond over cooking-- with Evan asking Chase to share different techniques and Chase guiding Evan as well, but obviously enjoying their time together. In this world of toxic masculinity and fragile male egos-- Chase is the kind of main character we would all like to have in our life.
I also enjoyed the interplay between Chase and Lily-- You could see that they genuinely cared about each other. But Lily's journey and her learning to stand up for herself, as much as she stood up for her child was simultaneously uplifting and heartbreaking.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for leaving my honest opinion.
If you love holiday Hallmark movies - this series is for you! I absolutely love how Chase writes so many different characters from different backgrounds & lifestyles. Lily is a single mom struggling to give her son the best life he could have after a horrible divorce, while Chase hasn't been through these struggles yet he's no slacker when it comes down to putting in the work to maintain his lifestyle. Lily is such an inspiration when it comes to her compartmentalizing her emotions between dealing with her situation, her ex, and the joy she decides to find in every little thing.
My one criticism is that I wish there had been a slight recap on the teaser from the previous book. It's been so long for me that I forgot the characters and really where the story was starting off. Normally I love how Chase doesn't waste time recapping what happened previously, but it took me longer than I want to admit to really sink back into this story. It was a pretty minor setback though, and just like all her other books, her characters quickly captivated me and drove me to read this in almost one sitting. The ending too just had all the feels! Love love love!
A totally delightful book! The main characters were wonderful and Lily's son Even was a special kid. A wonderful Christmas book. I recommend it!

This is a cute story that will immediately draw the reader in with a great story line and wonderful characters. Lily Paddington and Chase Garland have a past experience that holds them back from loving again. They will have to find a way to overcome their fears or they will lose something very special.
When circumstances cause Lily and Chase to have to spend the night together in a small skiing town, Lily begins to consider taking a chance on him; and Chase, who can’t stop thinking about her, is on the brink of making a major decision. Will he risk his heart to find the love he is craving? Or will fear keep him forever wrapped in loneliness?
Once again, this author delivers on a perfect story line to draw the reader’s attention to the power of love. Not only is the power in that beautiful connection, but love also has the power to heal what was broken. Grab your copy and see whether Lily and Chase are ready for that healing and acceptance.
I BORROWED THIS E-BOOK FROM AMAZON KINDLE UNLIMITED. I STARTED READING THIS E-BOOK ON 12/22/2024.
WITCHES OF CHRISTMAS GROVE SERIES - BOOK 3 - A WITCH FOR MR. WINTER - DEANNA CHASE - KINDLE EDITION = 247 PAGES
I REALLY ENJOYED THIS E-BOOK. LILY'S EX HUSBAND WAS A REAL PIECE OF WORK. SHE DEFINITELY DID NOT DESERVE TO BE TREATED THE WAY THAT HE TREATED HER. CHASE WAS HEAVENSENT TO LILY, AND HER SON EVAN. I LOVED THE MAGICAL NIGHT THAT LILY AND CHASE HAD IN THE SMALL TOWN THAT THEY HAD GOTTEN STRANDED IN OVERNIGHT. I ALSO LOVED HOW CHASE, AND EVAN BONDED OVER THEIR SIMILAR INTERESTS. LILY AND EVAN NEEDED CHASE AS MUCH AS CHASE NEEDED THEM. I WAS SO VERY HAPPY THE WAY THAT THINGS TURNED OUT FOR ALL OF THEM. THERE WAS VERY LITTLE ABOUT THE PREVIOUS CHARACTERS. I MISSED KNOWING MORE ABOUT THEM. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS IN THE NEXT BOOK OF THIS SERIES. I FINISHED READING THIS E-BOOK ON 3/23/2025.
I loved this story and almost all of the characters. The one I didn't like the reader isn't supposed to. They worked together, were friends, and were attracted to each other. She didn't date to protect her son. He'd suffered enough from his father's desertion. She wouldn't take a chance on another disappointment. When a work trip stranded them the reluctance to spend time outside of work slipped.
The story is touching, the characters are people the reader would like as friends. The kid was real, a good one but not perfect and totally believable. Mom's most important part of her life is that kid. And, the boyfriend—a guy you'd want for your own or anyone important to you. It's one of those stories that end and after the disappointment of it being over...you just have to smile. DO NOT MISS THIS CHRISTMAS TREAT!
I don't even know where to begin. I was so enthralled with Chase and Lily's story, that I listened to it in one sitting. Lily is a single mom, trying to raise her son, has no help from her ex, and I could feel her struggle and determination to provide and do what's best for her son. Evan is an adorable 11 year old boy, loves to bake, computer games, hanging out with his friends, and desperately wants his father back in his life. Chase is a widower who is ready to find love and build a family. He is patient, nervous, respectful of Lily's boundaries even when they frustrate him, and best of all, builds a friendship with Evan because they have things in common, not to impress Lily. The writing and narrative were amazing. I could clearly visualize the story as it happened I can't wait for the next book!
Book 3 in the series Main characters are Lily and Chase
Lily is afraid to open her heart after what her husband did to her. After her divorce Lily is raising their son by herself. She meets Chase at tge right time for her , lily finds herself stranded in a small town and Chase comes to the rescue.
Chase has a hard time himself. Chase Garland lost his wife in a traffic car accident Chase decides it’s time for a change so he moves to Christmas Grove Chase knows it’s a great start for his business, Chase is making magical edible chocolates at Love Potions,. One thing leads to another and Lily and Chase knows what they have is magical together
Gabra Zackman Performance is magical, her voice does all the tones spot on , her performance is strong and clear
This is the third book in the Witches of Christmas Grove series which is set in a a wonderland of magic and witches and it always lives up to the series title. While many authors shy away from the realities of life, the untidy, unseemly and downright nasty behaviors that can be seen; Deanna Chase has a remarkable gift of incorporating this into her books to bring her characters to life with a force that never wanes. As I read this book so many parts of it resonated with me and I freely admit that I wish life were more like this series. The characters were incredible and the descriptions are so vivid that I visualized the story all the way through. This is definitely an addition to be had for my collection.
I am an unpaid arc reader and my honest opinion of this book.
I freely admit that romance isn’t generally my cup of tea as I am more of a suspense person. However, this series, along with a couple of others by this author, just really hits me in the heartstrings, and I can’t resist them. In this one, Lily and Chase are co-workers who finally give in to their attraction, and they have a few obstacles to get through to their HEA. I once made the comparison of these series by this author as written Hallmark movies, and this one is right on target. They even make a similar joke in the book. This is a simple book, but it’s a long way from simple with wonderful characters, lovely romance, and some great tender moments…along with a little magic. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Although I did spend a nice Christmas with my wife, I got really heartbreaking news on Christmas night. Having this book to read when I could take a minute to read was very helpful and helped me smile and escape for a little while. As usual, Deanna hit the ball out of the park and five blocks over with this book. I love every book in the "Witches of Christmas Grove" series, but this one will probably remain special to me.
If you've never read a Deanna Chase book, I highly recommend it. I think I've read all of her books and loved every single one of them. Reading Lily and Chase's story in this book was so much fun!! I can't wait for "A Witch for Mr. Mistletoe"!! The only down side to reading this series? The long wait in between books.
I love this series, this is a spin off from the Keating Hollows books. I love the enchantment of the town and that they always set around Christmas which makes them awesome holiday reads! Lily is a single mom with an A-hole ex and Chase's wife was killed in a car accident. They get stuck in another town while running an errand for work, and it is an amazing magical town where they have to share a bed being it is the only room left in the town. I love how the previous characters reappear throughout each story, it is always nice to visit with old friends. I cannot wait for the next book about Olivia she is such an interesting character!
Interesting book! When your past comes back to bite you in the butt you need to stand and fight! In this book we have past and future senecios. Lily and Chase work together and when the coffee machine breaks down they go in search of a replacement. Well fate has a way of helping romance’s along with a vehicle breakdown. From there things move along rather quickly and romance blooms! Lily’s ex husband creates problem but in the story has a way of things working out and we have a happy ending. Learn about dream walking and cooking with a twist and magic helps all along! Excellent story! Enjoy!
This is my first christmas read this year and it left me craving for the holidays again! All the holiday sweets sounded so good and it left me craving for some. This was such a cute romance read. I wish it had more paranormal elements. As a mother, I was able to connect with Lily and see her concerns in regards to her son Evan. Her ex had me seeing red a few times. So the author completely nailed it there. Chase is the perfect gentleman who continues to show Lily how a woman should be treated and he’s teaching her son as well. So smooth worthy!! Overall it was a enjoyable read, and I’m looking forward to reading, A Witch For Mr. Mistletoe.
Chase Garland and Lilly Paddington enjoyed working together at Love Potions. It wasn’t until an overnight stay in a nearby town due to car problems did they begin to think of each other as more than friends.
Lilly had her son Evan to consider, so she stayed away from the dating game. Her ex was no prize and she definitely didn’t want to make another mistake.
Chase had recently lost his wife in a car accident and wasn’t sure he was ready to move on.
Could the magic of Christmas and Christmas Grove bring these two star-crossed lovers together? Would Lilly be able to let go of her fears and accept the gift of love?
Lily has been in the series from the beginning with her son.Chase is new.Olivia is a new character but her intro is a set up for next book.I I liked the messy storyline.was disappointed that lilys dreamwalk did not turn her into a detective to warn Melissa (is it possible melissa has visions she told Lily they will be friends, she left the condo we don't know why) I felt there was more there to be told Melissa did seem like a kind hearted soul even if she left a 11 year old alone but maybe the dad was there at that time? Like I said that story was not finished.maybe that's a book for later but still it makes this book with unanswered wholes.
I love that the holiday inspired books in this series launch right at the holiday. 1) I need a reason to hide from my family and read and 2) this book left me smiling, crying, laughing and truly feeling the holiday spirit. When so much around us is overwhelming, this small escape from reality is just what I needed to get the good feelings of the holidays at the forefront of my mind again. A wonderfully written book with a spectacular story line . Full of romance, wonder, and of course the happily ever after that I love .
This book had all the feels, and all the usual cast of characters. Lily is a single mom raising her son in Christmas Grove. She has feelings for Chase but is afraid that her sone might get hurt if things don’t work out. And Chase is everything she ever wanted. Her ex is back after a 3 year disappearance and seems to want back into Evan’s life. Lily’s life is in an uproar.
This book has ups and downs, love and heartbreak and most of all, magic. I love this town and wish I could live there too.
Lily has been a single mother to her eleven year old son for the past three years. She divorced her cheating husband, moved home to Christmas Grove. She has made friends, but their life is hard. Chase is new in town, having taken a job at the bakery/candy story where she works. His wife died in a car accident many months before. They start out to be just friends, but they get stranded and the sparks fly. One thing leads to another, Lily’s son, Evan, grows close to Chase. Will it work for them? They have several hurdles to overcome.
I enjoyed this new Christmas Grove story, this one about Lily and Chase. The stories in this series take place in this magical town, with each couple going through many ups and downs before eventually reaching their happy ever after together. This one was super sweet, Chase being the ultimate good guy, always seeming to know when to back off or offer support. The perfect addition to Lily's life. A feel-good romance story!
This was one of the best Christmas Grove stories yet! It has everything we expect from a Christmas Grove Book and more! I always loved getting to revisit favorites and there were several in here. But my favorite part of this book was the storyline! I absolutely loved Lily, Chase and Evan and their story was beautifully written. I loved every bit of it!! And the narration was perfect.
A very good story about a single mother, her son Evan, and the man she works with. He and she are falling for each other but she puts her son first always. So she tells him she wants to take it slow. But things heat up when Evan becomes part of the picture. Turns out he and Evan both love cooking and when they start cooking together, a fast friendship forms. So much for going slow. It's a bumpy ride with exes and a sprinkle of paranomal tossed in for a sparkling Christmas romance.
