Cassius is walking proof that physical size and high intellect do not necessarily equate to an easy stroll through puberty. Strapped with the challenges of a dysfunctional home life and pressure from the neighborhood gang, Cassius would rather put his head down and simply survive. Positive reinforcement in the form of a supportive football team finally provides the self-conscious teen with his first glimpse of what success could look like.
