What is Magick? Magick is a psychological tool. This tool can be used to manipulate your mind and the manipulation of your mind will necessarily lead to an alteration in your circumstances. The more peaceful the mind, the more focused on its goal, and the more effectively it has been outfitted for the achievement of that goal, the greater your chances of fulfilling that desire become. But, how do we outfit the mind advantageously to that end? The subconscious mind is responsible for keeping you breathing, your heart beating, your cells replicating, and many other functions which you trust it to perform each and every day. Imagine if we could insert a goal or intention into that part of the mind. What miracles might come to pass if the subconscious were to accept your desire as gospel and transform the process necessary for its attainment into automatic functions? The subconscious communicates, not in words, but in symbols. Your mind is easily fixated on symbols and this can be used to your advantage. Every day we are inundated by symbolism in religious ceremonies, entertainment, and advertisement. Have you ever stopped to wonder why? When you see the "Golden Arches", do your saliva glands not begin to ooze at the thought of French Fries? The mere letter "M", in this context, is enough to create an entire set of responses (both psychological and physiological) within the body. The mind attaches complex concepts and ideas, even entire emotional responses, to symbols. By seeing a single symbol, the mind may trigger an influx of associated information. A symbol is like a folder in the file cabinet of the mind and every symbol contains countless associated files within. Many have heard of the "Law of Attraction". Visualize the desire as though it has been fulfilled and the desire will come to pass. This seems simple enough. So, why does it work for so few people? Well, because if your visualization doesn't reach the subconscious, it is dead on arrival. Any intention may be planted within the subconscious and it will work like a powerhouse to bring a corresponding event to fruition. If, however, that intention remains nested within the realm of the conscious mind, then it will not yield the same result. In order to have your desires met, to see a miracle in your life, to (dare I say it) cast a spell, your intention must bypass your conscious mind and go straight to the subconscious. As long as you are thinking about what you want, you are involving your conscious mind. This is where Magick comes in. Magick is to create a system of symbols with definite meanings which may be presented to the mind to bypass conscious thought and insert ideas associated with these symbols into the mind. When we shroud an intention in symbolism, we obscure its meaning. This thin veil allows us to slip our intention past our critical gatekeeper and into the subconscious mind to be brought to fruition. This is the purpose of many, if not all ritual performances. This book is a beginner's guide to understanding these concepts and implementing these practices into day to day life. I seek to educate the reader about the origins of the occult, teach these ideas in the most scientifically sound way possible (involving as little spiritual mumbo jumbo as I can) and instruct them in the performance of these techniques. This book teaches the most basic rituals necessary to begin performing Magick. These rituals are time-proven to be effective. They were originated by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and later implemented into Aleister Crowley's magical practice - Thelema, as well as Wicca. I will also teach the reader how to make practical changes to their reality by crafting a "Sigil". A sigil is a symbol created for the aforementioned purpose of inserting an idea into the subconscious.
