Space Rogues #2

Big Ship, Lots of Guns

Rate this book
Previously, on Space Rogues...

Thanks to an intergalactic crime boss and all around horrible being, Xarrix, there's a price on the crews' heads, no good deed goes unpunished, as they say.

What do you do to keep food on the table and fuel in the tank? Take jobs as privateers of course.

This page-turning adventure kicks off with Zephyr answering a call from an old friend. A scientist even, what could go wrong?

Before long the crew of the Ghostfinds themselves in the middle of something so big it shakes the foundations of the Galactic Commonwealth.

At least it's not a conspiracy this time!

The adventures continue in book two, there are laughs, a few tears (of sadness and joy) and the first ever Taco Tuesday in space!

Space Tacos?

Can Wil and the crew save the day one more time?

Wonderful story. I read it in one day as I couldn’t put it down. The espionage and space battle scenes were so well described that I could see the action. I rather loved the touches of modern humor as well, once again giving a rather “Ready Player One” feeling to the character development. Fun characters with a quick easy story line that still kept me doubting what would happen next. Fun book. I appreciate getting it. Looking forward to #3 in the fall of 2018.

Another good read in this new series of books, looking forward to seeing where we go from here, I think that there will be a trip back to earth again for Wil and his team. I loved the way that they are not only a team, but growing into a family.

Continuation of the Saga

Truly enjoyed reading book 2. I like the movement back and forth between present and past. Characters are solid. The humor is enjoyable. This is just a downright good read.

Wil has finally gotten a whole team to crew the Ghost!

During a mission they come upon a Dreadnaught that believes humans/humanoids are infestations and be exterminated and that's what it tries to do. But instead it gets Gabe and then Gabe is smarter.

Read and enjoy.

A fun, fast-paced read, with lots of actions, big guns, interesting character, and enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. A great sequel to Book One of the series. Off to read Book Three.

This book has a lot going for it — but unfortunately a lot working against it too.

Wil, Zephyr, Gabe, and co are all back in this light-hearted, action-packed sequel to Space Rogues. With all the geek-culture references and now with added Borg.

The author does an outstanding job of both character development and world-building. The plot is compelling.

Unfortunately, unlike both Space Rogues and Any Job Will Do (different series, same author), this one suffered from a serious lack of editing. The head-hopping, typos, continuity errors, and grammatical mistakes all pulled me out of the story.

It’s a shame because I really loved Space Rogues. This one has so much potential, but it just didn’t live up to it. Maybe I’ll stick with the author’s other series.

This is the second book in the series. What I really liked about this book and the first book as well was that each story had an ending that was complete and didn't leave you hanging wondering what was going to happen next. The story is entertaining and made me laugh. It is enjoyable as well as easy to read. The aliens just do not get earth slang that the main character uses and their attempts to use it often comes up different than the original meaning. The world building is great. The Ghost which is the Ankarran war ship is being used as a privateer vessel by an earthling and his alien crew. Somehow or another , they manage to insert themselves into galactic issues. There is a lot of action, relationship building, and laughs in this story. I would highly recommend it.

The zaniness continues when our intrepid crew of The Ghost is hired to investigate what appears to be a derelict ship. They're joined by a few of the scientists who hired them and a good thing too.
We also get a bit more back story of Wil's early years after he acquired The Ghost. All I will say about this part of the story is bacon, bacon, bacon, and... you guess it, bacon.
Things go downhill fast after they arrive at the derelict. There wouldn't be much of a story if it didn't. You might ask, what goes wrong? I could tell you but you'll be far more entertained if you read the story for yourself. A noble engineering druid, cross species relations, squid-like drones, Cheetos thievery, and so much more to experience in the story. Grab a copy and read on.

Not bad

I like the book, and would give it four stars of it wasn't for all the worthless flashbacks. I could understand if they served a purpose but these just interrupt the story and add nothing of value. If you're a reader imagine you are a passenger in a car and the driver stomps on the gas then hits the breaks over and over again.

definitely fun to read

The Adventures of Wil Calder entertained me to the extent I paid money (not a normal behavior for me) to read the next in the series, Big Ship, Lots of Guns. Even the title brings on a chuckle. The book is definitely worth the few pennies I spent, full of adventure and laughs. Loved it!

I enjoyed this book more than the first one in the series. It is just as fun and just about as quick as the first, but more fun because I got to read what the crew of the Ghost was up to next, and their next adventure did not disappoint.

This is just as fun to read as the first book. I particularly enjoyed the shopping trip on earth, selling duct tape to aliens!
