3.25⭐ Genre ~ holiday novella Series ~ Snowflake Falls #2 Setting ~ not sure, but I don't think the USA with spellings like tyre and humour Publication date ~ December 4, 2020 Est page Count ~ 52 (8 chapters +e) POV ~ dual 1st, present tense Featuring ~ small town, neighbors, insta love, second chance, minimal steamage
Had this one waiting since December 2020, so I figured I might as well read book 2 right after book 1.
Neva & Elden Neva is back in her hometown after a breakup and getting fired. Elden is still pissed about her standing him up back in high school, so he's not to thrilled when he sees her at the train station freezing her bazookas off waiting for a ride.
Overall, this was fine. I liked it better than the last book. We have a smidgen of drama with the ex and a sleazeball Santa to round out this quick one.
Side note ~ I obviously have not been in every elevator ever constructed, but I have never seen one with a bench. Is that common in the UK or only for this book for some steamage time? And if so, are they located in the middle or against the wall?
This was a sweet second chance romance with a sprinkle of holiday cheer. I love hot elevator scenes so you won’t want to miss this one. I had a hard time with Elden and his need to not clear things up or ask questions however. I’m glad he finally got over it.
Neva Bells has been standing at the train station for 10 minutes in the snow wearing a light jacket while she waits for her sister to pick her up. She had boxed and mailed her winter coat to her parents’, not thinking about being suck out in this weather. The only reason she is not crying right now is that her tears would freeze! This just continues her bad fortune since she lost her job, lost her apartment, found her boyfriend Tony sneaking off to the arms of his co-worker, and now she has to move back to Snowflake Falls to live with her family. While she is definitely not feeling the vibe this year, the whole town is coming alive with the Christmas spirit! As she continues to shiver, she watches a tall, well-built man walking toward her. She and Elden have history but she hasn’t seen him for 10 years now. He offers her a ride home, but she tells him her sister is coming. He shrugs and heads back to his car, where he watches her shiver and brood on how she stood him up on their third date to go with another guy! He won’t tolerate drama nor being “second best”. She was the reason he left home after that. He walks back to her and she tells him her sister can’t get the car started and he tells her she is coming with him. When they got home, she said they should be friends again, but since she didn’t apologize, he growled that he would think about it.
It was different being back home. Neva has a big family with multiple pets, so she can never walk into a room and find it peaceful and quiet. She looked out the window as Elden helped his mom out of the car and smiled at her. He hadn’t even tried to smile at Neva. Back in high school, she got the dates mixed up. A girl who wanted Elden told him the rumors that Neva had been out with another guy, which was not true. But Elden refused to listen to her. When she had come home from college, he was already gone and working on the rig, so she never saw him until now.
Neva’s sister Bette told her she had lined up a part-time job, but found something paying more. So she offered it to Neva. It was just handing out presents at Hewitt’s department store, but it would give her a little income to buy gifts for the family. She takes the creaky ancient elevator to the third floor and finds out she will be Santa’s assistant and wearing a tight, low-cut costume. Apparently Elden works at the store as a manager and told her the tiny outfit was for December 23 final night. Instead she was to wear a red Christmas sweater over the clothes she arrived in, so he went to get it straightened out for her. When he brings back the sweater, he maneuvers her into the fitting room, closes the curtain, and finally kisses her. She tries to tell him about the misunderstanding back in high school, and he suddenly moves away and tells her to go back to work. Would she ever get to tell him the truth of what happened?
December 23 was chaos at Hewitt’s. The elevator was not working right and Elden called in a repairman. Another employee fell down the steps with decorations and sprained her ankle, so he drove her to the ER. Coming back in, the assistant said their Santa was drunk. So Elden grabbed the extra Santa suit and joined Neva who was wearing the skimpy outfit for the final day. At lunch, Dave takes over as Santa and at the end of the day, Elden hears breaking glass as he finds sleazy Dave trying to get the outfit off of Neva! After firing Dave and cleaning up the glass, Elden offers to drive Neva home while the snow storm rages outside. They are heading out when, between floors, the old elevator goes dark and stops! As expected, her cell phone has a dead battery because she forgot to charge it. Elden had his phone, but no service. So now, trapped in here, can she make him listen about what happened that night he thinks she stood him up?
This is a very cute story about a long-term misunderstanding that can finally be resolved if Neva can ever force Elden to let her explain! Will he believe her now? Will feelings that had tried to flicker to life in high school finally turn into the relationship they should have had 10 years ago? Grab your copy and see if things ever get resolved for these two who never stopped caring.
Trapped With the Guy Next Door is the second book in the Snowflake Falls series. In this book we follow Elden & Neva as the find their happily ever after.
Neva's holiday season hasn't been very good so far. She lost her job, her boyfriend walked out on her & now she has to move back to Snowflake Falls to live with her family. Add to that her high school crush is back living next door & it looks like he's still mad at her. What else could possibly go wrong?
The girl he never got over has moved back to town & she's living next door. No way was he going there - she stood him up in high school & he never got over it. Now if he could just get her off his mind.
This is the first book I've read by this author & I'll definitely be reading the first book in this series next. The lead characters were likeable even if they were a little wishy washy from time to time. The supporting cast helped move the story along without overwhelming this, tho perhaps Neva's siblings could have been developed a tad more to lead up to more Snowflake Falls books. The story like was good & kept me turning the pages. All in all, this was an enjoyable light, quick read.

I enjoyed this holiday second chanced romance. Neva is returning home after her world has collapsed around her. she runs in to Elden at the station, apparently the past was not forgotten . Elden was hurt when Neva missed their third date, only to have been out with someone else, so he was told. Neva tried to talk to Elden, but he would not listen. It took being stuck in the elevator for Elden to finally hear the truth,
This is a fun holiday romance, with a bit of drama from grabby men and ex's , but over all a big heart and loving family.

This story is awesome. I love a hot next door neighbor trope and misunderstanding fueled ex relationships are fun to set straight. Neva accidentally stood Elden up back when she was in HS and hes carried a torch but never forgiven her. She tries to explain but he shuts her down. When they connect the chemistry is beyond hot. I really loved this one! Great novella!

This is a sweet cute holiday story. The “trapped” part of the story is actually very short. It is a great second chance story and the couple have to figure out how to communicate so that they can have their happily ever after. It has a bit of comedy as well which was perfect

I love reading cute, and short stories. I love how Neve just wants to explain what happened so long ago, but Elden did not want to listen to it, at first. Temptation and a burn to feel her, Elden finds himself stuck in an elevator with her. All things come out. ALL things come off. Perfect set-up to reconnect.

This was a quick holiday read with a pretty decent plot. The characters were great but I found the male lead to be a little too stubborn. I also was unsure what the age gap between the two of them was. I can’t recall his age or her age but that isn’t that important to me. The plot had a few snags thrown in to make things difficult for the characters but they pulled through.
I give this four out of five stars. I found myself enjoying the main characters and the side characters played great roles in the story. Great easy holiday read.

Neva is going home as she's lost her job, her apartment and her boyfriend. She's at the train station waiting for her sister to pick her up. Elden gets of the next train and sees her standing there and all he can remember is that she stood him up on their third date and he's never forgiven her. She's back next door and he finds that he's still attracted to her. She's just as attracted to him and maybe if he lets her explain what happened all those years ago he will forgive her. Will he ever forgive her? Is he going to walk away again? Read and find out. I received an ARC copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Trapped with the Guy Next Door is book 2 in the Snowflake Falls Series by Jessa Joy. This is my first read by Jessa Joy and I definitely plan to read more. Neva is home for the holidays after a run of bad luck. She was dumped by her ex, lost her job and her apartment. Her luck may be changing when she runs into Elden, her next door neighbor. They dated in high school until a misunderstanding ripped them apart. Elden has never gotten over Neva nor has he forgiven her for standing him up all those years ago. Will Neva and Elden finally get their second chance at a HEA?
This was a sweet and steamy quick Christmas read. Neva and Elden had a misunderstanding in high school but connect years later when Neva comes home after a rough year. Neva keeps trying to clear the misunderstand and Elden is trying to ignore the love he’s always felt for her. This was a great Christmas second chance romance.

An enjoyable second chance romance page turner! The story line is fast pace, exciting, engaging, emotionally deep, and well written with drama, steam, humour, and ups and downs. Amazing characters; the chemistry between them is undeniable and hot! Definitely recommended!

Neva has tried to explain herself but hurt feeling s and pride have kept these two apart for far to long. Elden has always cared for Neva and wanted to have a relationship but he is bull headed and would not give her a chance to explain the miscommunication back in High School. Now he still feels the pull towards and finally decides to listen to bad all this time was wasted on hostility instead of romance.

This book is perfect for any book lovers who loves quick short stories, especially Christmas ones!!
Trapped with the Guy Next Door is an absolutely sweet and steamy Christmas romance ...Elden and Neva have smoking hot chemistry, and together are both steamy and super sweet. Both characters are so engaging you are rooting for them to find their HEA. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but won’t be my last. This book is perfect for any book lovers who loves quick short stories, especially Christmas ones. Happy reading everyone!!
Neva has to move home, she lost her job, apartment, and her boyfriend cheated on her. She is not feeling very festive. Neva's new job is being a Santa Helper and her high school boyfirend, the one she left, is Santa and her boss. This has moments of humor and a budding romance. This is a great short story. I loved the characters and the story. The way it flowed and how things evolved was just great.

This was such a cute book! This was the first book I've read from this author and I really enjoyed it. The story was different from anything I've read recently and really captured my attention. It was so well written and the characters were fantastic.

Good read about Neva and Elden who have know each other for years and dated but things got mixed up. When she’s back in town after losing her job, he apartment and her boyfriend left her for a colleague she’s surprised when she runs into him again. Her feelings are still there but Elden won’t let her explain the mix up that happened 10 years ago. I love the chemistry and connection between the two. A good holiday book you’ll enjoy!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. It's a second chance romance. A mix-up of dates and nasty gossip broke up Elden and Neva in high school. When Neva comes home, they hook up again as their feelings of love haven't changed. Elden has to save Neva a few times and there is a moment that could derail them but this time, Neva doesn't allow it to. They stay together and are happy.
This was my first read from this author. I absolutely loved the first person point of view of the story, which is a deal breaker for me. Also this was a second chance romance, with great characters developement, and great chemistry. I will read more from this author in the future.

While the story is typical second chance, there is just so much fun and witty dialogue to keep it interesting and worth the time. There is a key misunderstanding between the couple that is the weakest part of the book for me. Enjoyed the family; would have like more interaction with the couple in the first book. Very enjoyable. Will look forward to the next installment.

This was such a cute story. Elden and Neva are such an adorable couple and are such likeable characters that you just want them to have their HEA! Their chemistry together is steamy hot, and this was just a really sweet holiday novel!

Neva and Ellen are living next to each other and working together. They find themselves still very attracted and in love, but they have some issues to resolve between them. This is a very good short story and is very well written, I enjoyed it very much.

Cute story that was a quick read. Two neighbors, who tried dating in the past, are brought back together by circumstances. Do they make it work this time? Quick short story I was able to read in one sitting.

This not-so-friends to lovers novel was a wonderful distraction from the worries and work that blow in with the Christmas holidays. I enjoyed not so friendly banter, and the author hit the mark with their trapped in the elevator encounter. I also loved the way Neva and Elden played off each other. Now I have to read the first book in this series.
