I really enjoyed the fourth book in this series. Lots of wonderful little sub plots involving new characters. Each of the books have always left me feeling happy and with a little smile on my face. Long may the good guys win! A big thank you to the author Paul Bennett and from me another well deserved 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
An easy and humorous read that might score higher for fans of lighter (and not especially realistic) action, which unfortunately I was hoping for. Additionally, fans of westerns might get a kick out of this, which is essentially an updated version.
Also, I was surprised at Joffe Books for being so lapse with the editing as Colombia and Colombians was frequently misspelt, the realism of the Magnum rounds was lacking, and there were several repeated phrases or words, often close together.
Nonetheless, it didn't stop this being a fun, easy and quick read but one that might not be for everyone.
If I could I'd give it 3.5 stars, as, unfortunately for me, it was the action that let it down. Much like I believe the editor let the author down.
As with the other books in the series, this is light hearted and amusing. Not quite the mercenary book as the title might suggest and not entirely authentic as putting three rounds of .45 calibre MAGNUM LOAD into someones face with as tight a grouping as he purports in this book is simply not possible. First the target would not still be there and there'd be virtually nothing left after such a round, not to mention the kick of Magnum load in a revolver...... no chance 😂😂😂. Other than these many inaccuracies the book is entertaining in my opinion. Thanks for a fun series.
Something about these books that just have a feel good factor about them. Yes, in a way they are mercenaries, but for the greater good. This time off to Mexico, where they, especially Silver, have been conned by a DEA agent into sorting out a problem. It all gets sorted in their usual inimitable way with plenty of surprises and humour. Great fun to read even if there are some highly improbable goings on. But accept these in the spirit of the novels.
Johnny Silver strikes again. Forth book in series, and as good as first. Gripping read from front to back. Band of five could so easily fit into any scenario. Never read four books so quick. Need more from Paul, please.
It all begins with a girl being kidnapped in Mexico
A DEA contacts Johnny Silver to do what the USA cant. ..go too Mexico in a secret mission with his mercenary group to rescue a kidnapped girl, lots of surprises. Brilliant story
....but that was after I gasped, worried, laughed and smiled! Another fantastic book. I can’t help but be a little bit in love with Johnny! There again Bull, Red, Pieter and Stan are loveable too! No giveaways from me but I highly recommend this series of books.
