Haunted Cemeteries of Indiana

Rate this book
From the Hoosier National Forest to the banks of Lake Michigan, Indiana's landscape is dotted with urban and rural cemeteries teeming with restless spirits. Crown Hill Cemetery is the final resting place of many notable Hoosiers, as well as one rather infamous soul, but it may also serve as a playground for the spectral children of Community Hill. Tales of mournful spirits can be found at Stepp Cemetery and Highland Lawn, while other areas such as Forest Hill and the cemeteries of LaPorte have far darker stories to tell. Join tour guide and paranormal investigator Ashley Hood on a journey through Indiana's ghostly burial grounds.

Bought it for spooky stories and travel stop ideas, stayed for the fascinating local history lessons. Ashley Hood does her research and cites every source. Around Halloween time this year, my wife and I got in the habit of reading each other stories out loud from this book. We thought it would be silly and spooky, but we ended up amazed at the deeply entangled stories and factoids about former residents of our home state and their dwellings.

This was entertaining. I do enjoy this series of books, but I already knew a lot of the stories in this one. The 100 Step Cemetery seemed like it had misinformation? I have never been, but I’ve always heard and read that it’s only about 65 ish steps, not 100. This book states that there are indeed 100 steps. I’m not sure, it’s not that important but it’s something that stuck out to me. This is good for people who want a little history and not super detailed haunting stories- more of a general overview of the paranormal activity. I really enjoyed the author’s account of the experience she had at Stepp Cemetery. That was fascinating. Overall, pretty good. Not sure if I’ll purchase this one or not.

I was looking forward to this. It gives a brief history of location then, most if the time, a very short summary of strange occurrences. The work would have really benefited from more historical research.

There were some interesting historical features in this book. However, there was very little haunting. In some chapters, only a single paragraph was reserved for the supposed haunts.
