4.7/5.0 🌟 (Finished) VERY DIFFERENT. The reason why it's that good is cause it's so different from all the other bls that I have read. The plot was engaging that I could not help but want to know what comes next. The beginning was quite toxic but the character development was executed really well, so the ending was PERFECT.
It’s about a man who wanted revenge more than anything and another who just wanted to paint in order to live and how their lives intertwined in the most painful, selfish, codependent way. Their relationship keeps you second guessing till the end it’s tender at times but painful as well
as a painter trained (or should I say training) in old master techniques, I felt I had to read this.
It’s about a poor boy who is a painting prodigy who is been forced by a wicked noble man to essentially “ghost paint” for his son, as in his son pretends he painted all the paintings.
It’s not terribly written but my biggest pet peeve is when people write genius characters who born with the ability to draw perfectly proportioned anatomy and flawless perceptive from imagination. It just doesn’t work like that. People can have talents but I think it comes less with skill and more how you compose, your thoughts, ideas, the way you think. It’s a lot harder to teach that than drawing a tree.
it’s set I assume during Victorian era? Early? Or a little before. Regardless, the thing about oil painting and the visual arts before the Industrial Revolution it was so hard to make any of the supplies you needed to paint. It’s why artists need so many apprentices and in the invention of the paint tube changed painting forever ie impresssionism. I don’t think this poor boy could be a painter even if he was that gifted he would just never know because he couldn’t afford paper let alone anything to paint with. Not even afford but even know how to create oil paint, it was essentially an trade secret in artist guilds and workshops.
I know it’s not that deep but depending how you count (as I sketch in paint) I’ve done hundreds if not thousands of paintings in my life and I have a deep love for the medium and idk if this manga has a deep love like I do so yeah idk
idk what age the main guy is meant to be but he looks like a teenager, though it states he looks younger than he actually is idk how old he is supposed to be to me bc the love interest looks very much like an adult and it’s a bad yeah :/
also Goodreads doesn’t seem to have all the volumes but there are 7 and it’s completed.
Such a beautiful story with an enticing plot. It wasn’t the most complex piece of writing but the characters still brought out their little touch to animate the story. At first I disliked that Ian had to get kidnapped to leave but then I realized it made the story more realistic cause more than often in life we hardly make decisions that we know are good for us unless our hand is forced.

Omg so I have mix feelings. I absolutely love this. Historical fiction about a poor painter. Who is abused for his art and even forced into labor saved by a rich man who which falls in love but still ends up living hidden from the world as a mistress????????? It pained me but ig he’s safe at least.

This is really good currently, so sad though..I feel terrible for the mc and I’m worried about how the ml is acting. I swear if he locks him up I’m gonna lose my mind
Nevermind I’m not finishing this, super messed up. I hate the male lead enough that I’m not continuing
