Set on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula of New Zealand. Received Highly Commended in the RWNZ Clendon Award 2009.
Carric O’Callaghan is a race horse breeder. Married young, he’d been desperately in love with his wife who had a bipolar type disorder and committed suicide shortly after the birth of their second son—who is now seventeen. Not prepared to face that kind of pain again, he’s definitely only looking for someone to ‘play’ with. His new neighbor absolutely fits the bill.
Samantha Cross is a vet who owns a small 30 acre block next door to Carric O'Callaghan's newly established racing stud on the Coromandel Peninsula. She is divorced from her childhood sweetheart, the spoilt product of wealthy farm owners. With no understanding of the concept of fidelity, he has inoculated her heart against the rich playboy type. At first glance, Carric O’Callaghan appears to embody every trait she most abhorred in her husband. Being the only vet on the Peninsula, it is inevitable her work will bring them together. But Sam knows the only games she plays are those one plays for keeps. Therefore, she doesn’t ‘play’.
Carric O’Callaghan doesn’t fit the rich playboy mold where Sam judges he belongs. Sam Cross is a love potion impervious to any inoculation Carric O’Callaghan believes he has undergone.
Will their hearts defy what their heads are telling them?
I am a New Zealander with strong ancestral ties to Britain, hence my love of the Regency era. Books are my passion - reading them and writing them. Regency romance is my genre - but always with spice added.
