In this 4th book in the 'Weezie and BeBe Mysteries', set in Savannah, Georgia, a couple of big events are in the offing. The book can be read as a standalone.

*****

As the story opens, Weezie Foley has a lot on her mind. She's making arrangements for her Christmas Eve wedding to Daniel Stipanek, which is a week away; she's on the hunt for vintage treasures to sell in her antique shop; and she has to convince her reluctant best friend BeBe Loudermilk, who's almost 8 months pregnant, to attend her own baby shower.

To add to Weezie's concerns, Daniel is the current 'guest chef' at a New York City restaurant, and the eatery owner - who looks like a young Sophia Loren - is leaning all over Daniel in a promotional newspaper photo.

Sophia Loren

Weezie's wedding venue is her own home, and she was hoping for a small simple affair. That's apparently not to be however, because the people supplying the food and flowers (all of whom are Weezie's colleagues/friends) have other ideas. Thus Weezie has to taste dozens of fancy hors d'oeuvres; survey decorations fit for a palace; and make sure she doesn't have a 'William and Kate' type spectacle - which her friends Cookie and Manny would happily arrange if she let them. 😊

Weezie's pal BeBe, meanwhile, has concerns of her own. She's busy running her small hotel; her belly is huge; her feet are swollen; and her baby's live-in father, Harry - who works as Captain of a charter fishing boat - is away a lot. In addition, BeBe learns something about her creepy first husband Richard that could impact her life. The mystery part of the book revolves around BeBe's attempts to find Richard and straighten things out, which proves hard to do.

For the most part, the story is a light-hearted romp, including fun scenes of BeBe's baby shower, which features life-size naked-baby balloons and games like 'the dirty diaper guessing game.'

Dirty diaper guessing game (don't worry....it's candy)

On the seriocomic side, BeBe does a spot of breaking and entering; enlists the help of the Coast Guard; and deals with the contractors refurbishing her house, who tend to substitute their own ideas for hers.

In the midst of all the mayhem, Weezie impulsively decides to visit Daniel in New York City, and her whirlwind sightseeing and thrift store shopping is fun and entertaining. Weezie gets to take the subway, see Rockefeller Center's Christmas tree;, visit the Plaza Hotel; enjoy a Broadway show, have a luxe dinner; and more. Weezie also picks up some wonderful goodies for her antique store.....some of which are put to good use at the wedding.

The book includes appearances by popular ongoing characters, including: Weezie's mom - a notoriously bad cook who insists on baking the groom's cake; Weezie's dad - who seems to be developing dementia; Weezie's attorney uncle, who's in danger of breaking the law; and a couple of beloved pet dogs who add to the havoc.

I enjoyed the book, which is a pleasant light read. Recommended to fans of Southern chick-lit mysteries.

I want to start out by saying thank you to St. Martins Press for giving me this book for free. I won it on Goodreads, first-reads. I am am a struggling single mother who loves to read so getting books for free is always a plus. Even though it was an "uncorrected bound manuscript" with a lot of very glaring grammatical and format errors.

This book is the follow up to "Savannah Blues" and "Savannah Breeze" and stars 2 characters that I feel are underdeveloped. It might be because I've only read "Savannah Breeze" and even then, that was a number of years ago. But the most developed characters were the ones surrounding BeBe and Weezie. For example, Harry or Cookie and Manny are more interesting characters in my opinion.

Normally when I enjoy a book, I will finish it in a couple of days. I will read non-stop because I feel the characters are real and I want to know what happens next. Honestly, I didn't feel that sense of urgency with this book. I didn't really care about Weezie's wedding or when BeBe's baby would be born. Mostly because both of these events are entirely predictable. SPOILER ALERT: BeBe goes into labor right after Weezie gets married. How utterly convenient. Oh, and the man that BeBe is supposedly still married to? He's dead. Well that was wrapped up in a neat little bow.

I feel like the author was trying to hurry up and get to the end of the book. There was one problem after another but no real detail or imagination in those problems. I'm glad everything worked out for the characters but it was a pretty boring book. If you like these characters, this book is definitely for you. If you want a little more creativity and imagination from an author, I suggest saving this one for another day.

While this book was another winner in the Weezie and Bebe series, I am shocked that an author such as this one could have so many continuity errors and other errors. As a matter of fact, there is one incident which makes me think I need to re-read Bebe’s story to see if Harry had had children with his first wife. Did he? Why was Marion teetering on a chair on one page, and the next page has her climbing down a rickety ladder? The high cost of these e-books should mean that the consumer gets better editing.

It is a good story but with so many things going on –Bebe having her baby, Weezie, and Daniel’s wedding and Weezie traveling to New York to see Daniel while he is the guest chef at a fancy restaurant –it was just too much going on for one book. Two novellas would have been better. Then add in that Weezies father may be suffering from Alzheimer’s and Bebe may still be a married woman (and have been a bigamist) and you have a buffet of story-lines.
Naturally, everything pretty much works out in the end and I (and I’m probably the only one) think that there could and should be more books in this series.

Yes, this book needed a lot of work and editing to make it better, but it was a cozy and interesting holiday read nonetheless.

I picked this one because of the title and my love of Christmas stories. Though the story itself was good, it wasn't written around Christmas. The events happened and every now and then someone mentioned it was Christmas Time. The plot could have taken place at any time of the year. Because of that, I felt a bit cheated. This is the first book I've read in a long time that I'm really not interested in reading other books by the author. I guess feeling cheated is the strongest emotion I took away from this one.

This will be a delightful holiday read for anyone who is already a fan of Weezie and BeBe. If you are well acquainted with the cast of characters- you will, no doubt, be entranced from the first exclamation!!—An exclamation, which just happens to be Weezie’s full name, shouted in exasperation by her mother during a fitting for her wedding dress. Others will enjoy it as well, but it will take a few more chapters to really get into the swing of the book and get to know the characters through the historical tidbits tossed in here and there.

The book was a light-hearted, fun read with little conflict. Not having read the previous installments, it was nice to be brought up to speed in a timely fashion. The book is basically just a continuation of their “happily ever afters” to give their fans a larger taste of what’s in store for the two best friends. I enjoyed it quite a bit, and will probably look to catch up through the other books at some point in the future.

This was my very first book I've read my Mary Kay Andrews and I really liked it. I didn't know that there were three other books with the same characters, which of course I hadn't read. But despite not having read the other three books Savannah Blues, Savannah Breeze, and Blue Christmas, I was not lost with the storylines. I feel like you could totally read it without the other three, but I'm excited to add the previous ones to my TBR.

I feel in love with Weezie and BeBe, their friendship is amazing!! Mary Kay Andrews had me giggling on couple of parts and the book was fun and entertaining. I'm glad that both Weezie and BeBe had the happily ever after that they deserved.

I wonder if we might see Weezie and Bebe again!! :)

I just love Weezie and BeBe and I love this series and I really love the last two books with Christmas themes. So much humor, silliness and love wrapped into the whole series. The quirky characters add a certain zest for life and me wanting to own a store... if I could plus live in the South. ;o) Antiques, family, dogs, pregnancy humor galore, weddings, love and Christmas. A pure delight to read! Thank you Mary Kay Andrews and I hope there are more to the series.

Weezie (also known by her parents as Jean Eloise Foley) and Daniel Thomas Stipanek are about to get married and this is not the first time down the aisle for Weezie, but Daniel is definitely the man she has been searching for her entire life

The wedding is planned for Christmas Day and what can be more exciting or romantic. Weezie wants a small wedding, while her mother is upset she is even wearing white as she is not marrying for the first time but Weezie has decided she will wear her mothers wedding dress after her mother makes some major alterations.

Her best friend BeBe also seems to have found the best man in her life Harry and they are expecting a baby but are not married.

This story revolves around the final week leading up to the wedding and all the drama that could possibly happen Jethro (Weezie’s dog) running away, Harry not returning home from a fishing trip when promised and Weezie going to New York when Daniel is sick and wind up in a major blizzard and not sure they will even make it home for their own wedding.

This is the first Mary Kay Andrews book I have ever read but now I want to read them all. The story is delightful, and the characters are so real you feel like you are being invited to the wedding and helping out yourself. I think this is an ideal or should I say “perfect” gift for anyone on your Christmas list. A most enjoyable read.

Christmas Bliss by Mary Kay Andrews is a fun holiday-ish tale.  It is not really about Christmas, but it is set in the weeks leading up to Weezie’s Christmas wedding.  While this is book four of an established mystery series, I found it easily readable as a standalone novel.  It has Ms. Andrews’ trademark southern setting and strong southern women who have to deal with outlandishly funny predicaments.

The story starts out less than blissfully.  BeBe gets bad news from her ex-husband’s lawyer, and from there the drama and comedy take off.  From runaway pets, goofy construction workers, overly enthusiastic wedding helpers to a fiancé photographed with a gorgeous, touchy woman while out of town on business, there is no end of things for Weezie and BeBe to deal with.

Weezie and BeBe are great characters; they’re strong, sassy, and charming.  The plot is straight forward and well paced making Christmas Bliss a light-hearted read. As a mystery, it wasn’t particularly good, but as a lighthearted chick lit it was a very fun read.  This charming read will delight readers whether or not they are fans of the Weezie and BeBe series.

This book is light and easy read. It features characters from her previous books, Savannah Blues and Savannah Breeze, therefore not really a stand alone novel. I would recommend reading these books first. There was some good humor and banter between main characters which I enjoyed. The narrative switches between two friends Bebe and Weezie from their POV every other chapter which was confusing. It would be better if it was written in the third person. Because the book has two story lines, Bebe's and Weezie's, none are developed to the full potential. Overall the book felt a little flat to me as there was not much happening or moving the plot along. The mystery of Bebe's first husband, Richard, when resolved was very disappointing and anti-climatic. It is an OK book and you might enjoy it if you read Savannah Breeze and Savannah Blues and wanted to revisit the characters but skip it if you have not read these books

I really remember liking the first one of these, but each one just gets worse and worse. I don’t like hearing about pregnant women so that whole thing was unnecessary to me. Then Weezie, ugh. This idiot just got in a car with someone at the NY airport. What a moron. Savannah isn’t some backwoods place. She should know not to just get a random car. When her overbearing mother!! I REALLY can’t stand her.

Also abgebrochen.

This was a warm, humorous, fun story and a fast read. I hadn't previously read the other books in this series so there was a lot of back story i had missed but there was enough background information given that it didn't impact on the story other than making me think it would be nice to read more about the origins of the two main characters. The story centres around Weezie and Bebe, two best friends in a small town in Savannah. Weezie is about to get married ( on Christmas Eve) and Bebe is about a month away from having a baby and its about a week or so out from Christmas. What follows is their stories over the last week before Christmas and just how much can happen in such a short time, with ex-husbands, jobs in New York, wedding preparations and general small town mayhem.

I really enjoyed this book and it was a nice light read perfect for Christmas

This was. fast, fun read that left the reader feeling excited about Christmas and the hustle and bustle that comes with it. Glad it happens in the books, it makes me feel better about it happening in real life. The characters are fun, they are relatable and they are characters that I wouldn't mind being friends with in real life. The plot is cute, fun and fast moving and the reader gets a bit of a surprise with the ending of this one. It is a good book to read for the holiday season, or anytime you need a bit of Christmas cheer in your life. You will get a few good laughs while reading it.

Fun Finale

The last in the Weezie and BeBe series ties everything up nicely in a Christmas bow. This book focuses on Weezie and Daniel’s wedding, while BeBe discovers she is still married to one of her ex-husbands.

I received a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first “Weezie and BeBe” experience. There are three other novels featuring these two characters; perhaps if I had that series connection, I would have enjoyed this novel more, but as a stand-alone, this one just didn’t hold my interest. I kind of felt like I needed Rudolph to help me find that little something to keep me reading.
In the beginning, I figured the suspense might come in the form of a cheating fiancé. When Weezie spots a tabloid photo of her husband-to-be draped by his glamorous boss at New York event in his honor, she drops everything and whisks away to the Big Apple. At that point, I thought (hoped) that she might find a conniving, big city woman wooing her man. Alas, not so. For the majority of the novel, we simply follow her solitary forays into the city, including her cheesy run in with a bearded man dressed head to toe in red and wearing black boots.
BeBe had a bit more drama when she discovered her divorce from her horrible former husband was never filed. However, that storyline ended quickly, leaving only the mystery of her child’s birth, which also seemed a bit cliché. A Christmas baby? How many movies feature that same event?
I will say the novel is well-written if not somewhat overwhelming with the descriptions of antiques, scenery, and designers, but sadly, I simply couldn’t connect with the characters. I’m afraid my only “bliss” came from finishing it.

Christmas Bliss revisits some of Mary Kay Andrews's most beloved fictional females, best friends from Savannah, Weezie and Bebe. In this short Christmas tale, the two women are both going through life altering events. Weezie is getting married to her beau (Chef Daniel) at Christmastime. Bebe is pregnant and expecting to give birth at any moment. Unexpected surprises threaten to put a damper in both of the women's plans. Will Weezie and Daniel make it down the aisle? Will Bebe's boyfriend be the legal father of her child? You'll have to read Christmas Bliss to find out- and you'll enjoy each and every page along the way.
