Bob has spent the past 40 years running from an evil that has relentlessly tried to kill him. Nancy is a stranger who wants to know Bob’s story of survival. As Bob reveals the story of his life to Nancy, of his constant loss, he is as much telling his story to her as he is weighing her response.
Who is Nancy?
An innocent stranger listening carefully to a story shared by an older man or a part of the ever-present evil that continues to pursue Bob?
From Illinois to Texas, from Maine to Colorado, Bob survives one attempt on his life after another. What is it that continuously hunts him? What is the true purpose of meeting Nancy? As the afternoon fades tonight, Bob looks for the signs that have defined the destruction of his life. The truth will finally be revealed with the coming darkness.

This was a well-crafted, unique thriller. Poor Bob just wants his life back. He’s spent forty years running from someone or something that murdered his family, and now it’s toying with him. He plays cat and mouse with his pursuer, jumping all over the country, in an attempt to figure out what’s going on. But each time he finds his footing, he is informed that his stalker is there, waiting and watching him. And Bob doesn’t know what the end result will be, so he keeps relocating. Now there is just constant creepiness and suspense throughout, which I enjoyed. The one thing that I struggled with was the format. Once the book begins, Bob decides to sit down and tell someone his story. And majority of the book are his notable flashbacks to the different experiences with his decades long pursuit. So the story felt like it didn’t make the most of its time, as you basically knew the end result of each of these stories Bob was describing, before they began. Sort of like watching the Joker film. You already know how it’s going to end, so what was the point? And that made Bob’s tales seem a bit trivial, which took away from the desired impact. I feel like if the format stuck to just a live feed of sorts, instead of all the jumping back and forth, it would have left the reader with a bit more to ponder on. To basically expect the unexpected. With the aforementioned concept, the twist ending could still be kept intact, but just retooled a bit to get there. The very last portion of the book was, by far, the best part, and worth the journey to get there. So while I had a good time here, and liked everything about the writing style, story, and characters, if it was all done just a bit differently, it could have been elevated from a very good book to a great one.
Hunted is a Psychology thriller about Bob running from someone who is trying to kill him. Over 40 years, Bob travels all over The USA, surviving multiply attempts on his life. However, during Bob journey across the country, he tells his story to Nancy. The readers will keep on following Bob to find out what happens.
Hunted is the first book I have read of Charles Welch. I had no problem engaging with this book's plot, and I had trouble putting the book down. I love Charles Welch's portrayal of his characters and how they intertwine with each other throughout this book. Hunted is well written and researched by Charles Welch. I like Charles Welch's description of Hunted settings that allow me to imagine being part of the book's plot.
Hunted readers will start to understand how your mind can trick you into thinking and doing things that not entirely correct. The Hunted readers will also enjoy the twists and turn that Charles Welch puts into this book's plot to ensure that you glued to your chair until the end.
This was a quick psychological thriller following Bob throughout his life. Bob used to be just a normal guy with a lovely wife and an adorable son. Then everything changed.
After the death of his wife, Bob finds himself hunted by a mysterious being. He is chased back and forth across the country, trying to stay at least one step ahead.
This novel is a good twisty thriller that leaves you on the edge of your seat.
The truth is not always obvious. This story had me hooked right from the start. From a pleasant afternoon, it rapidly builds to a night full of terror. Bob had a lovely life. He had a nice house, a beautiful wife and a loveable young son. All this is snuffed out in an instant when he comes home from picking up some ice cream, to find his wife horrifically slain and his son disappeared to who knows what fate. Bob spends the next several decades, always on the run, never settling down anywhere for long. Someone, or something, wants him dead, and will never rest until it has him in it's claws. Bob learns never to fully trust anyone; you never know what they might be hiding. The ending is quite unexpected. But I will leave that for you to discover why. I highly recommend this book for lovers of horror or thriller books.
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. There are so many different ways people can take the topic, and some of them are over used. Mr. Welch took an over used, but well loved, trope, and went with it in such a way that it sucked me in. It was hard to step away from the screen so I could go do my class work and other things. I wanted to know what happened next. And I have to say I love the ending. I'm not sure how many other people will, but it's the kind of ending that I don't find often enough and that I love when I find it and find it done well. This time it was done very well. I'm going to end up picking this one up again and rereading it in a few years.
Gritty and intense! Complex and compelling! An edgy mystery full pulse-pounding suspense and one shocking surprise after another! The fast pace of the of the twisted, wildly-captivating plot kept me swiping the pages feverishly long past my bedtime. If you like dark, twisted suspense as much as I do, you can't go wrong with this book!

I enjoyed this author's work immensely. The flashbacks made for interesting reading. He developed a great plot that kept me so involved I had to read this book in one sitting. Excellent characters and quality writing. I hope to read much more of Mr. Welch's writing.
I loved the story, lots of twists and turns. The power of the dark must be one of humankinds most feared things. Together with the power of suggestion, darkness aids the eeriness of this novel. Best read at night for the full effect.
Very entertaining book, thoroughly enjoyed it. Ending was just a tad bit foreseeable; but, I have read thousands of these in my 60 years. Can't wait to read more of your work !!
This story is frightening! Why? I believe all things are possible so this can be frightening!
A man forgets the ice-cream so his wife sends him back to the store! Upon his return he finds his wife dead, his son gone! Strange story for your enjoyment if you enjoy macabre stories!
A good enjoyable horror story! A first for me by this writer & I don't think it will be the last! I liked the ideas, style & bit of a twist at the end! Keeps you guessing right till the end!
