Rachael Bennett is a book nerd. A serious, hardcore book nerd.
She has spent most of her life hiding in the stacks, making her way from adventure to adventure. Never leaving the pages to take any of her own.
Until she discovers a new genre that opens her eyes to a whole new world of possibilities: Reverse Harem.
When an old crush, cute skater, and broody art teacher come into her life will she be able to put down her books long enough to write her own love story or will she stay safe behind the pages she knows so well?
Their Book Nerd is a contemporary reverse harem/poly novel. It is the first in the Midland Springs Series. Each book will take place in the fictitious small-ish town of Midland Springs, Florida. And each book follows a new love story. This series is interconnected but each book can be read as a standalone.
***Contains adult language and sexual content including m/m
Joanne Ganci is a hopeless romantic that more than anything wants to bring joy to the world. Whether that be through the words on the pages of her books or a friendly gesture to a stranger.
She's a bit quirky and rather anti-social, but through the characters that demand to have their stories told she is working on cracking out of her shell and emerging as a semi-dysfunctional pterodactyl. Bet you thought that was going to say butterfly. Nope, that'd be normal and Joanne is quite the opposite.
Fueled by the love of her family, she embarked on the journey as an author and somehow hasn't panicked her way into quitting. Let's hope she keeps the crazy tamped down and continues on her journey.
Their Book Nerd is about a girl who loves books but doesn't think she's attractive for guys. She's awkward and again, loves the world in books over the real world. Men are gross anyways.
Enter Julian. Now he and Rachel sort of had a crush on one another. While he was out of town, he had a lot of relationships - men, women, and idk blow up dolls. Love is love to him and he's ready to go back home. When Julian and Rachel run into each other, it was definitely insta-everything. Five seconds of looking into each other's eyes and they are already having sex.
A couple of days later, maybe weeks, and ex-lover of Julian's comes back into his life. At this point you might be thinking that he's gonna dump Rachel for him. Nope, now it's a threesome. So.. at this point Rachel loves Julian and Zach - Julian loves Rachel and Zach - Zach loves Rachel and Julian. They basically all love one another and no one is butt hurt if someone is out of the love making.
You might think this whole love thing is done - right? WRONG. Nope, enter James. He is Rachel's school teacher crush because James, Rachel and Julian are all teachers at the same school. He is also best buddies with Julian's older brother. Oh, did I forget to mention that Rachel is best buddies with Lydia who is Julian's younger sister.
In the end, a lot of people know someone and this relationship now has 4 people in it. YET, Zach and Julian aren't into James and vice versa - and everything is okay at this point. The end was cute and predictable.. and I'm onto the next book.
I was giving this author another try. Big fail. Just like the other book, the author had the MCs almost have sex at first meeting. Blah. Next. Heroine was willing to give it up with a wink and a smile from the hero. Ugh.
I love RH stories but i like a storyline to go with the sex scenes. There was none here and zero character development. I couldn't even finish this. The smut wasnt even well written. Plenty of other better books than this
If there was a reward for the quickest story ever...this one would take the cake. There wasn't much plot other than actually designing the poly relationship. It was a little weird to me...especially since it interchanged poly romances and reverse harems, which clearly aren't the same thing.
So so good!!! This is the first book I've read from this author and I loved it. Julian,Zach and James are so loveable . The character development and world building were amazing . I hope we get a book about Lydia!!!!
Their Book Nerd is the debut novel for Joanne Ganci.
Rachael Bennet is a teacher who has a book in her hands whenever she has the opportunity; where she can lose herself in adventures. Her best friend, Lydia Lancaster, is head librarian. Rachael doesn’t own a Kindle and can’t even think about reading anything on her phone or tablet because she loves feeling the weight of the book in her hands and turning every page. Lydia passes Rachel a reverse harem book, which is a trope she hadn’t thought of investigating.
“I dove right in, disappearing into the pages, frolicking in a sea of text. I hadn’t come up for air in nearly two hours.” Rachael Bennet.
Julian, one of Lydia’s three brothers, has moved back home to teach. He’s always had a crush on Rachael … and she has starred in his many X-rated dreams.
I can honestly say I was not expecting the type of threesome that Julian recounts having while he was living in Spain. When the same type of threesome occurs between Julian, Rachael, and skate-boarder, Zach, I’m not really sure about how I feel about it – to be honest, it really doesn’t do it for me. And when art teacher, James, joins the fray, I really have mixed feelings about it.
This is the very first reverse harem book I have read. Kudos to author Joanne Ganci for writing this book as her debut novel. She’s done an excellent job. The characters don’t have any angst or major hurdles aside from the reaction of Zach’s parents, and even though I write erotic romance, this just isn’t my thing.
This was a sweet and very steamy romance. I had to put it down to fan myself more than 57 times. I liked that there was no conflict between the characters, but at the same time, there's very little conflict or character growth at all. There was no build up or climax. Having said that, I still really enjoyed the book and totally recommend it for anyone who loves romances and happy endings (and super steamy MM)
The reason I gave this story 3 stars and not 4 is because it was a little too insta-lovey for me. I'm not a huge fan of people falling into love right off the bat and that's kind of what happened here. Without giving too much away, I'll say that the one guy this happens almost immediately with is someone Rachel has known most of her life.
This is a contemporary romance. Something we don't see much in the reverse harem community, but seems to be making a rise lately. Very fast-paced. And something I think most of us could relate to...or at least wish happened to us.
Rachel is a book nerd. A hard-core one that doesn't even own a Kindle because she believes books should be read in their physical format and come from the library. It is at her favorite place, the public library in town, that her life changes course.
We have three men in this book. Each unique and loving in their own way. Julian, Zack, and James. I will state that two of these men had a relationship prior to getting with Rachel. And continue that relationship, along with Rachel, after getting with her. Only one of them is strictly with Rachel, though he lives with all of them together...he doesn't swing that way.
I thought it was an interesting book and not like what I've read before. I think I would have liked to see the relationship develop a bit more. But overall, it was a great read and I would recommend it.
Genre/Tropes: Contemporary, MMFM POV: 1st, Multiple Series: Midland Springs, Book 1 (standalone) STEAM LEVEL: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow, when I say this romance is a PERFECT representation of what a polyamorous relationship can be, I mean it.
Rachael is the central character. Over the course of the story we are introduced to Julian, her best friend’s brother she’s known and crushed on forever, Zack, a skateboard shop owner who hooked up with Julian in the past and was enamored with Rachael from the first moment he saw her. And then James, the broody art teacher who’s crushed hard on Rachael for years. Julian and Zack, Julian and Rachael, Zack and Rachael, Julian, Rachael, and Zack, and then Rachael and James.
It just WORKED, y’all.
The plot was quick, super easy with no dramatic angst. Honestly, it was a sexy, sweet, perfect little romance that was so filled with love and acceptance it just made me happy. And I needed happy.
I’ll be honest, poly romances aren’t my favorite. I love MM action but I have come to realize I prefer just a female-central harem. That’s my personal preference. But I really enjoyed how fluid and honest the relationship was between these four people. It was four people following their hearts without caring about societal standards and I respect TF out of that. I can’t wait to see what else this series has in store!
PLEASE READ FULL REVIEW BEFORE YOU TAKE IT TO HEART!!!
I'm not sure this one was for me. It just felt like I was reading about two separate relationships. And, I guess in a way I was. (If you read it you will understand.) It was sometimes really hard to connect with one couple when the focal point was mainly on the other.
Now, that's not to say it wasn't a good story. Because it was. There wasn't very much angst, which I'm completely okay with. I did enjoy all the characters and their individual personalities. I enjoyed the plot and one of my favorite scene's would have to be the Christmas one. Both of them. I think this book was well written and I'll be looking to see if this author has any more books out.
This was my first go at a reverse harem book. I've always avoided them because I didn't think I would enjoy them. I sometimes jump into MMM or MFM books and they are sometimes hard for me to completely enjoy, too.
I'm glad I did read this. I now know that Reverse Harem, or anything more than 3 people, just isn't my thing. I'm such a romantic and it just feels like too much is taken away from that. Which probably isn't the case, but tell that to my brain.
This review is completely based on my individual feelings regarding this type of story. So, please remember that before you decide not to read this book based on this review. You may very well love it!
This book is incredibly warm and fluffy and soft and sickeningly sweet. There’s almost no conflict of any kind throughout it, and if you’re having a bad day or just read a super stressful book this is an EXCELLENT palette cleanser. That being said, all the excess sunshine sometimes felt flat, because there wasn’t really any darkness to compare it to for appreciation. I also felt a little sad about the way the relationship turned out, because even though it’s clear that they’re all a family together, once James entered the picture it really felt a lot like Rachel and he were a couple and Zach and Julian were a couple and they weren’t as seamless as before. James even made a point of saying he wasn’t really sure where he fit in at one point, and I think that rang true til the end. He got in with Rachel, but only Rachel; his friendships and interactions with the other guys never really developing, and there was only ever really one scene where they all banged together (as opposed to the first time where it’s even said that there are two couples.). Even still, I loved getting to know these characters and I’m looking forward to seeing who gets their love story next! Maybe Lydia? Or Ian from the tattoo parlor?! Or.....the diner person?! Options!!!
Rachael is an English teacher who lives much of her life within the pages of a book. When her best friend Lydia introduced her to a new genre, RH it opens her eyes to new possibilities and inspires her to take chances. She sees her long-time crush, Lydias' brother Julian, his friend the skateboard shop owner Zack, and James, the hot art teacher in a whole new light. Maybe, she can create her own harem and live the exciting life of one of her book heroines in search of her own HEA.
I was excited about this book. I identified strongly with Rachael having an unquenchable love for books myself. Like her, discovering the RH genre was life-changing. So, I picked up this book thinking it was exactly what I was looking for. Wrong. It didn't live up to my hopes. The characters were bland, the relationships too insta and were not convincing. The story wasn't developed past a surface level. RH is complex but all of the intricacies were glossed over dismissing any concerns, hesitations, jealousies, or other human emotions that would be encountered with multiple humans in one relationship. With no real obstacles or conflicts, it fell flat. Finally, this author needs to find her own voice. There was nothing original to be found. This will come over time but a solid beta group could be useful.
If this book was a stick of rock - it would have sexy written all the way through it! If you ever wanted a writer to write about people like you and me - well here's your book. Rachael is a bookaholic - just like us and she has always had her adventures between the paoer sheets instead of the bed sheets - until now. Now she has the chance to love not one, not two but three wonderful and loving men - why choose? Could you choose between éclairs, millefeuille or Paris brest? I know I never can...so why bother choosing? Have your cake and eat it too! Join in the fun with this amazing new author - who has invited us into the town of Midland Springs, where the people are amazing - and so is their library! I devoured this book - and I hope you will love it just as much as I have. Honestly it has its own permanent place on my kindle and I will NEVER DELETE IT! EVER!!!
This is the story of a sweet book nerd who gets inspired by a RH book. With a couple of open minded men and a friendly and kind family these four are in for a crazy ride.
I love this book because it gives you a little more. Like... how do they function after they fall in love? How do they make a family as they are? Where does everyone sleep? How does it all work? How does the community support them? With RH books I'm often fascinated by how this could happen in real life and I feel like this books allows you to see the possibilities.
So good!
It also reminds me of the Spoken Word poem "I like a girl who reads" on YouTube! Worth a quick view too if you loved this book! https://youtu.be/lmEbF2uhsZk I feel it epitomises this book.
I really enjoyed Their Book Nerd. Definitely worth your time!

I started reading this book when I was in some kind of book slump. I had just finished a gutwrenching book with a major cliffhanger and somehow couldn't concentrate on other books. This one however caught my attention and managed to get me out of my funk. It is a sweet story, with some steamy scenes and no drama. Perfect for what I needed. I rated this 4 stars because I feel like it has the potential to be better. Some subplots could have been explored more to add more depth an dimensions to the story.
Ahhhh I loved this book so much. Rachael is a completely adorable and relatable main character and each of her guys is so beyond perfect that I completely understand why she didn't choose. That being said Zack is definitely my favorite, I just love the nerdy guy so much. And I especially love how all three of these guys helped break her out of her shell, helping her to see what they all had no problem seeing all this time. Definitely well deserving of this five star rating. Cannot wait to dive into the next book Joanne has to offer.
This was a light RH, a cute read. The characters were enjoyable, but partially shallow. However nothing was quite realistic and kind of insta- everything. I get that we basically pick on chemistry years in the making for at least Julian and James. However, Zack was a new entity for Rachael. The plot just seemed a little forced, though the steamy scenes were definitely well written- not awkward at all. Only advice for this author would be to try to invest more in character development. I want to become immersed in them along with the story.
I wanted to like this but it just wasn’t there for me. Like other reviewers have mentioned, it was way too “insta-love” for each of the three guys. James hardly had an issue with getting involved with Rachael while she had two boyfriends. One or two quick conversations and he was all in. I also kept feeling like James was left out. Not so much by Rachael but he hardy ever interacted with Julian and Zack in a friendly way. Now he’s involved with all of them as a “family?” It didn’t feel like that to me at all.
This read like someone who's just learning to write on Wattpad. Nothing wrong with learning to write, but not exactly something that I should've paid money for. The men all blend into one. The FMC is your typical 'not like other girls' who loves books and is shy and nerdy except she's not because that would defeat the concept of a raverse-harem story. It tried to conjure conflict and intrigue but it was so shallow and very much just thrown in to see what sticks.
Like it's fine, if you wanna read it go ahead, but don't expect anything mindblowing.
Well this is a very good read hot and steamy . I have a lot in common with the FM leed in this story. It is written very well, it just flows so well. You start and then before you know it you are almost finished. This story has a good strong cast. You will just fall for them. If you haven't read it please put on your TBR list. If you have a love for books, then this book will hook you. Hope you all enjoy as much as I have. This is a good R H.
This was totally wonderful. I really enjoyed this book, as a dedicated book nerd I live vicariously through the words others give me. This whole story is a dream come true for me. One day my princes will come and force me to look up from the pages to them. They will accept no less, plus they'll be readers and able to talk books with me.
This author knows just what we book nerds want to dream.
This is a great feel good RH book! It is a well written story that shows a harem coming together in a great refreshing way. An added bonus is the m/m which was great and well done! I love to read books that do a good job showing a relationship between the characters both male and female and this book does that! If you love a good contemporary RH than this is a great choice and you won't be disappointed!
Their Book Nerd was such a fun, good romantic read. I have to say I could really relate to Rachel, I am such a book nerd myself. Everything plays out so well here. The plot, the characters, the guys. Everything was perfect. So glad to finally see how Rachel, James, Julian and Zack got together. And what a perfect story told. This really was a great installment to the Midland Springs Series. I need more!!!
The pacing was super fast. The author took no time to actually build the relationships. That would’ve been fine had it just been about sex but it wasn’t. All the characters were talking about the future and falling in love and having a family but they barely knew each other. There was just not enough time invested into the relationship to feel believable in any way.
If anybody has any recs for poly/RH I would really appreciate it!
