"Mark My Words" by Stephanie Nicole Norris
My Speculation:
It was definitely true that in "Mark My Words," Destiny and Malik were to be together in this Lunch Break Series. It seems like Malik's mother threw a screw into this relationship, but what was to be will be as it was for these two. I loved this beautiful, well-written, good story that this author gives the reader.
Mark My Words was another banger in the Lunch Break Series but, I have questions. Why were Malik and Stormi "famous"?!!! SNN never goes into details about why Malik is the big man around town or why the media cares he's marrying Stomi. Seriously, was a news crew running up on Malik like that?!!! He didn't come from a rich famous family so, I never understood why he was so popular with the townsfolk and with the media. Another thing that annoyed me was Destiny forgiving Malik's mama so quickly. She lost out on years with the love of her life because, his mama decided to meddle in their relationship. So, Mrs. Jernigan gets to just say "I'm sorry" and everything is peaches and cream between them?!!! I don't think so! I really wish authors would be a little more realistic when they're writing situations like these because, in real life, his mama could never say two words to me again. But, I digress. Angelica and Cleveland are another couple I'd like to see get their own story. I'd love to see their love story play out.
Malik and Destiny were a cute couple who started dating in high school and up until his mother meddled. Glad they found their way back to each other. However, I could not get pass some inconsistencies: Malik's ex is on a daytime talk show and the media chases him down about his engagement. Why are these people famous? The talk show hosts says he's a catch but only mentioned he graduated top of his class. The story is cute but I couldn't get past this confusion.
She has done it again with her series. I love all of her books. Stephanie Nicole Norris, you have just moved to number two as my favorite author. I am so glad that I came across your name and your books. You have done an awesome job writing these series. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for keeping me happy through this pandemic. If it weren't for you and my other author, I would be bored to death. Keep up the great work and I am looking forward to reading all of your books. Keep them coming!!
Fabulous short story I love these short stories Stephanie writes.
Even though they are short they are fulfilling, they give you everything you need in a full length story MS Norris is a,master storyteller and I encourage you to read all her pun break stories, you will not be disappointed.
This on centered on miscommunication, but on a love that did not die Great characters and you felt the love Get the book, the series and enjoy!!
The timeline threw me off. They’re supposedly 33 now, broke up when they were 22, he starts Morehouse right after...so he’s been in school for 11 years? Also, how can he afford a penthouse suite? I know it’s fiction but I need for it to make sense as well. The details do count regardless if it’s a novella or not. Sorry, this one is a no for me. Hey, you can’t win them all.
This was a cute and short second chance romance story. I love the trope so I had to read this.
This was a good read, though I had some issues. The timeline confused me. There was no explanation as to why Malik was famous. All we got was that he was in the military and was currently going to school at Morehouse. I wanted the plot to be more clearer. But it was enjoyable enough. I wouldn't mind checking out Stephanie's other books.
Malik and Destiny were head over hee!s in love when they were young. A meddling family member broke Destiny's heart by warning her away. Malik was distraught because she was his world. Both moved on until their present lives finally caught up with each other. Stephanie is one of the Queens of short stories. I read this in under an hour and loved these characters. I would have loved to spend more time with them.
Short & Sweet! Destiny and Malik's romance is railroaded by his meddling mother and then derailed by his dishonest ex-girlfriend. Can these two find their way back to each other? ******One HUGE problem with novellas is that random details are never fully explained. This causes a lot of unanswered questions: Malik's penthouse apartment? Stormi's television interview? Where did all the fame and fortune come from?
Mark my Words. I loved this story. It was a different version of the fantasy Beauty and the Beast with a happy ever after ending. Malik and Destiny were high school sweethearts. He went into the Army and Destiny broke things off because of a lie told to her. Years later, Malik comes back to town looking for her because he couldn't stop loving her. He set the record straight and pronounced his love for her and asked for her hand in marriage. A great escape lunch break book.
Awe such a sweet and refreshing read... One thing I hate is a meddling mama..Ugh! There's no timetable on true love the heart only grows fonder. Thank goodness because Malik claimed his woman no doubt...I love him and Destiny together...I really enjoyed this series it was truly written perfection
Destiny and Malik were hapoy in their love. They were making their own way until someone else felt that they knew better. One's interference changed the life of two. Their paths almost stayed the same but different without the other. This year it all came to a change. Eyes opened and hearts forgive. A quickie that quinched
True love and indescribable chemistry make a wonderful combination! Destiny and Malik couldn't deny their heart's desire and their reunion was blazing!! 🔥💕🔥Story has inconsistencies around why Malik is famous but this doesn't detract too much from the fairytale reunion and HEA.
I just finished the Lunch Break Series and I loved all seven! Stand alone novellas that grab and hold you until the end. I enjoy finishing a book in one sitting. Just enough heat to get you hot and bothered with strong main characters. Good reads all seven, wish there was a number eight!😊
Young live gone awry by unnecessary intrusive wants of others, finds itself again after some wisdom and maturity. The MC were good people with good intentions. Not everybody got handled fully as they should've been but it's a limited novella so it gave what it could. I thought this was cute. This is a great read 📚 👏🏾 ✨️ 🤗❣️
I have been reading these short stories for the past two days and I must say again. Stephanie knows how to capture her audience and write those tow curling love stories that you just want to keep reading. This story was no different, it was a really great story. I again can't wait to read more.
I absolutely love these short lunch break series and Mark My Words was another banger. This book focused on how someone else can put a strain on a relationship, but true love will always prevail in the end. Great job Stephanie. Keep them coming.
Stephanie, you did it again. You never disappoint us! There is nothing like your first true love. Malik and Destiny were meant to be. This story is about righting some wrongs and rekindling a flame. Very sweet with a little steam 😉
I love shorts and this was another great read, Stephanie never disappoints. I just love how the characters in her books love each other it gives you something to hope for if you don't already have it. Thank you for giving us another great read.
STEPHANIE NICOLE HARRIS, HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!! THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL, ROMANTIC, LOVELY, AND AMAZING STORY!!! I LOVE IT & I'M RECOMMENDING TO EVERYONE, CHECK IT OUT!!!
These short romance tales are just enough to quell my short story fix. Each couple has a chance to get back to loving one another and so unapologetically. A good read.
Awesome lunch break treat!!!! Reunion love stories usually take more time to give the backstory and present. But not this one and it did not disappoint. Destiny & Malik was an example of love never fails.
Another well written story. From the beginning this book grabbed you and pulled you in. Short and sweet but very powerful. I enjoyed the story of a love that never fades nor die. Great book Stephanie.
This was a Beautiful short story. Some Fairytales do come true. Mrs Jernigan should of minded her own business. She should of trusted their Love 💕 for each other. Malik came back for his Soulmate and Destiny is it.
I loved this story 🔥🔥😍the chemistry and storyline on point. The pet name belle and beast 🥰 Stephanie Nicole Norris lunchbox series is bomb 🔥🙌🏾 all her books are bomb dot dot com in that order 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Destiny and Malik storyline🙌🏾 short and spicy. Malik was damn right, to put Stormi on blast he wanted his woman back and nothing, will stand in his way, even mama’s made it right🔥🔥♥️♥️
I wish this story went on to be a full novel. I love how Malik knew what he wanted and went right after it. Destiny never stopped loving him and he made sure she knew that he never stopped loving her. Great read
Cute quick story. Destiny and Malik had a love that stood the test of time. Even though they were separated by good intentions that went bad. The never stopped loving each other.
Loving these lunchbreak series. Just enough to get you going. Destiny and Malik would have been married by now if his mother didn't interfered with his relationship with Destiny. Glad they reconnected with each other.
