My love for writing began several years ago after an early retirement from a demanding job that I loved and hated because it consumed so much of my time. Now, I can focus my time on what I love. Writing romance has been a lifelong dream and to actually say that I am a published author is beyond what I would have ever expected.
Even though some may say I have a little naughtiness in my books, I look at it as an added bonus for my readers. After all, what is a romance book without a little spice?
When I am not writing, I enjoy spending time with friends either at home or out on the town. Mostly, I enjoy a relaxing night at home where I can enjoy a glass of wine in the company of a good book.
Out of everything, she enjoys driving in her little convertible with the top down.
Excellent book, but not much of a standalone. There were names and situations and not a lot of explaining. Very good book and well written but I would recommend the entire series for some back story.
This review us based on the ARC received from the author and/or the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
The Jagged Edge team have teamed up with the FBI to tackle the Gateway, a recovery centre they think has been helping criminals change their identities. In order to get the proof someone from the team has to go undercover to be able to hack into their systems.
Up steps Chavez who area of expertise is computing and mechanics. He has to pose as a criminal and with the help of his team as fake security agents he hopes to get to into the computer network.
Gabrielle is one of the FBI agents working on this case and when she meets Chavez, sparks fly. They have a definite connection but Gabrielle's emotional defences are thicker than Fort Knox.
Chavez has his work cut out trying to get her to lower her defences. Things get complicated around Gabrielle's family history and the mystery surrounding a woman named Kataryna whose father was a criminal who disappeared years ago.
No matter what else is going on, Gabrielle and Chavez cannot deny their attraction to each other and they do steam up the pages. But as the mystery unravels, steps up to the plate and does what it takes to claim her body and soul.
I've been looking forward to catching up with the Jagged Edge boys and this story delivered my desired dose of sexy men, feisty women, combustible chemistry and intriguing mystery.
Chavez was for me like some bad C rated film. It has a poor story, full of holes and some scenes were unnecessary. So it is the first book of the series that I read, so I didn't know others characters or what does Jagged Security agency so I can not compare it to the others but I can say that this one did not impress me. Gabriell should be a strong character but for me, she was the opposite of strong. She did for me some stupid things like go alone to a job, without consulting others and brought hole operation and herself in trouble. Michael was also not a hero for my type, had hots for Gabriell but all the same made up with other wommen? Like big no. Also, their start of some kind of relationship is mehhh and lame. And all they do is they have sex no talking. A book that is already forgotten. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
This was my first book by A.L. Long but it won't be my last as I plan to go back and start at the beginning of the Jagged Edge Series. That being said, you can definitely start reading this series with Chavez, Book 7 and still feel like you understand what is going on. There are so many twists and turns, mistaken identities and nail biting circumstances the two main characters Chavez and Gabby find themselves in that will keep you on the edge of your seat as the story unfolds. I love reading romantic suspense books like this as it gives me the romance and sex I enjoy reading about but also gives my mind the change to try and figure out who the bad guys are and what is their true agenda.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review
Chavez by A.L. Long is the 7th installment in the Edge series. It's a standalone story in the series. I have not read any of the prior books and had no problem reading this one. I liked Michael and Gabrielle's characters. I liked their chemistry. There was a good balance of romance and mystery and thriller aspects to the story. There were a few plot twists that some may not see coming as well. Overall this was a good read and I would recommend it to others. I will be looking into reading the rest of the series as well.
Spicy and naughty scenes. Chavez is an idiot, almost lost before he even won. When Chavez and Gabrielle meet for the first time he has trouble focusing on the job because he sees her, but will he make the wrong decision and lose it all because of another woman? I will be honest, reading this book you cannot help but realize Chavez can be a real idiot but will he straighten up before it is too late? Thank you NetGalley and A.L. Long for allowing me to read this book and write a honest review.
My least favorite of the series so far. This story felt like it was written backwards to me. Instead of it being a great story with some hot or intimate scenes it felt like the sex scenes were written first and the balance of the book written to fit around them. The characters were underdeveloped and the story jumped all over the place and left plenty of loose ends. It took me days to finish this because I just wasn't engaged. I was very tempted not to complete it.
Romance book with a lot of sex/explicit scenes. I had a little bit of trouble connection with Chavez and Gabrielle as a couple. Chavez really seemed to think with his lower parts rather than his brain throughout the book... This was still an enjoyable read with plenty of "naughty" romance and action!!
A.L. Long tried to give us a little bit of everything, it just seemed to miss the mark. Chavez and Gabriella were okay together but I never could warm up to Chavez and Gabriella seemed to have a chip on her shoulder. Unfortunately while there were soon good ideas the story just didn't work for me.
I received an advance reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.
ByJo reeveson 12 September 2017 This book 7 in the series and I throughly enjoyed it. Michael Chavez is a great character, alpha male, sexy as hell and he is taken by Gabrielle for the get go. They make a great working team and a hot couple . The story has a lot of action, mystery and intrigue and some very hot sex scenes. It's so well written the story just flows . A must read
Good read with a great storyline, though i strongly suggest reading the previous 6 books before embarking on this one. While it can be read as a standalone, there are a few supporting characters mentioned, without a back story, which may confuse. Otherwise a great instalment to the Jagged edge Security!
I really liked this book. It was a fairly quick read, and Gabrielle and Chavez are amazing together. All of the characters are well written, including the bad guys. I adored the premise of the book, a place where criminals can change their identity gave me the chills. This was an awesome book, I'm definitely looking forward to more in the Jagged Edge Series.
Gabrielle and Mike have their work cut out for them in trying to stop a mad man. The twists and turns keep coming in trying to figure out what's going on and why. I loved this book.
I enjoyed this book overall, but being the 7th in the series, and the 1st i have read, it introduced supporting characters with no backstory as to who they were or how they were really connected. It made me realize I should probably start from the beginning with this series. The story was well written. I felt Michael was immature and often didn't used his brain to make decisions. Gabriel seemed like a song female lead and it was difficult to picture the two of them together in a lasting relationship. There were definitely plenty of hot and steamy scenes between them throughout this story. I would recommend this book, but maybe start with the beginning of the series.
Chavez is book 7 in the Jagged Edge Series. It is a standalone, but there are characters from the previous books. If you want back story on the supporting characters, then you should start with book 1. I really enjoyed this book. A.L. Long has a way of keeping me hooked to her books. I couldn't seem to put this one down until I finished it. Chavez and Gabrielle had this chemistry from the start that sparked higher and higher it seems. I really enjoyed the storyline, it involved some thrills, some mystery solving, romance. It had it all. The sexy guy was a bonus also!!
