The Cursed and Desired

Rate this book
There’s no love in a world of witches and war.

Riona Dark’s plan to escape The Onyx, and the vampire she left behind there, all went up in smoke the moment the witches revealed their true intent.
On the witches’ island, The Quartz, Riona finds it’s full of more horrors than she could imagine. Protecting Arlo, discovering her family’s secrets, and learning the true power of the orbs make surviving The Quartz nearly impossible.
With war on the horizon,
Death chasing her soul,
And a vampire prince demanding she come back to him...Riona doesn’t know which way to turn.

One thing she does know, Riona won’t be a tool for the witches or die for the vampires without a fight. The Onyx may have let her escape, but one vampire will never let her go.

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***

I wasn’t sure what to expect out of this book… I loved the first book more than I thought I would have. I love G Bailey and was excited to see a new series. After reading this book, I am happy to report this was just as good!

Riona was kidnapped and taken to this island where the two princes salivate and fight over her. Each in their own way. One seems to be falling for her and the other… Well I am not sure if he is protecting his brother or trying to keep her for himself to hurt his brother. Or maybe he really is falling for her as well. Only time will tell. Riona has made mistakes such as running to a ship only to get kidnapped when she should have followed her heart.

Wow! I was not expecting that ending. There is so mush you learn in this book that keeps you guessing. I really want the next book so I know what happens! Ugh!

honestly just such an average book… some of the characters are annoying as hell (cough cough RIONA) and everything felt very rushed like what happened to sabina in the end its all very confusing and felt forced … was excited to read after the first book and i dont necessarily regret reading it i still enjoyed it but i dont think i’ll be rushing for the 3rd book in the series… I still love u tho reign 🩷💍

Riona is starting to come into her own power and confidence wise. Maddox and Riona's relationship moves forward. We learn more about her past and family connections. Story is steady paced with action. Ends on a cliffhanger.

I have been anxiously awaiting this book and it didn't disappoint. So many twists and turns that you do not see coming! New secrets are revealed and things that you thought were true are definitely not true any longer. The ending is not nice and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Disappointing 2nd Book - 2 1/2 Starts!!!
The first book of the series was amazing, unfortunately the second one, not so much. Not sure what happened here, but it's like the author lost her momentum and control of the story. The book starts well enough, right from where it ended on the 1st book, and then it just goes downhill from there. The book jumps from one place to another with no concept of time, which disrupts the fluidity of the story. It just becomes choppy and hard to follow. The h of the story, Riona, acts very juvenile most of the time and I get that she is 22 years old, but still, it would have been nice to see a bit more maturity in the way she acted. Also, there are plenty of grammatical errors. To be honest, I was very disappointed. This had the makings of a great series and I am not sure what the reason is, maybe not enough time to check, read or re-edit the story before its release, but for me it went from hero to zero! Sorry, just keeping it real. I hope the next series or books by G. Bailey turn-out better than this one. She certainly proved her amazing writing skills on the first book of the series.

Hmm, good story

Not sure about this one. I enjoyed the first book but this one lost me a little with the jumping around. In chapter 13 it was difficult to read because the formatting was suddenly so different but then returned to normal?
I also am not a fan of the author using "I do not know" instead of "I don't know", especially if the same sentence contains "shouldn't". It's super distracting from the story like all of chapter 13. There was also some points where I had to read over and over again because it didn't make sense and to try and put whatever right word the author may have been going for.
I do love Maddox, he's a good antihero and LI. Reign is good too. I like all the female characters, they're all kick ass. This story feels a bit more YA than NA. From what I could get from the plot, it was interesting only really in the last hour of the book. The relationship with the witches was sorta left in the open after what happened with Riona. Interesting development with her mother and father. Unsure if I'll read the last book of the series. Will put it in my tbr and maybe come back to it later or I might finish it off for completion.

The book picks up right where the first one leaves off so no worries trying to figure out whats going on.So with riona in the hands of the witches and her finding out that her suposed firend is actulay her realitive is a turner but when she argues wanting to go back to maddox the witches true plans come out they all but are happy to throw in her face that destroying the vampire island will be easyer now then ever is because she has now activatied the curse she all but fell in love with out realizing it and now she will be used as a weapon,But not only is she destend to die but there some family secrets that will have to be answered because something isnt adding up and she is more deturmed then ever to get to the bottem of things, this was such a awsome read if your a fan of g.bailey then you know her book styles there binge worthy and sadly this book ends og a dosey of a cliffhanger i mean come on you had me pulling my hair out iam foaming out the mouth for book 3 .

Omg!! I'm in love with this series!!

I had to read the first book in the series (cause that's how I roll), and I'm sooooo glad I did. It gave me a better picture of what is going on with Ri and Maddox. Let me just say that I absolutely looove them together.

This book starts off with Ri and her friends actually being kidnapped by the witches instead of being taken to safety. It was all a lie to get her there. Of course there was no way in hell that Maddox would let that fly and stormed the island to save her.

This book gets really intense with her real father, the hellcaster, who wants Ri so he can steal the power of the orbs from her. There are also a few surprises that happen.. like the appearance of her twin who's known where she was and didn't come for her and people who shouldn't get pregnant turning up pregnant.

The ending definitely has a cliffy... but omg I'm salivating for the next book!!!

I recieved an ARC for my honest review.

Solid sequel!

I always worry with a new series how it will measure up to G Bailey's other series since some are my absolute favorite of all times (Evie, I am looking at you!). I thought book 2 in this series did a good job of continuing book 1, gave us some answers and WTF moments haha, and have us itching for book 3 because of dang cliffies (I actually dont hate them, they just give me bad book hangovera hahaha).

This series I dont think will be a favorite but I am enjoying reading it and will definitely continue reading on. I think this one lends itself to the pattern G Bailey has done recently where books 1 and 2 are either good or great, but them book 3 is rushed and not as satifactory. I hope book 3 doesnt end up that way, i can see this series having potential, especially showing the author's range with a darker thematic book/story ❤

Oh My GOD!!! Did you really just leave me on one heck of a cliffhanger?

Okay now that I have that out of my system, I can tell you about my thoughts.

Maddox and Ri make a FABULOUS couple. Both have issues from the past, and together they are so much more than they are individually.

In this book, we find out so much more about Riona. And we find out about secrets that were being kept from her for her entire life.

Now I won't go into any further details but if you want a fabulous continuation to book 1 and a cliffhanger that will leave you screaming for more, then this is definitely the book for you!

amazing

Like first book, book two didn’t disappointed. I feel there’s more going on with Austin, the whole him hiding his mind thing just feels like it’s hiding bigger secret, at least that’s how it looked and I’ll be really disappointed if in truth he only did that so Riona didn’t see more cruel things. Whole Austin and Arlo situation again came out of nowhere and I’am not sure I liked it, they been best friend whole life, Arlo was pretty much in love with Riona and now out of nowhere they both lovers?! Just doesn’t seem fitting , anyway , can’t wait to see what next book brings

It's good, but it's not amazing. There was horrible formatting on Kindle when it came to conversations between characters that made it hard to read. There is also an inconsistency of what type of bird Amity is, along with the fact the mmc is said to have long hair and braids but the male on the cover doesnt resemble him at all, it felt like they just didn't really care to stay true to what was said in book 1 regarding character descriptions.

The story itself is good, but like book 1, it skips around in time frame a lot with no warning, so the passing of time in this series has felt very odd and unnatural.

This book was not as good as the first one, and the first was only average to begin with. The writing is awkward at times; I hate that the author says “give me it” instead of “give it to me”. The plot felt rushed, not a lot of time between action and dialogue to let things settle, and a lot of the book consists of characters explaining things to the FMC or playing keep-away with their knowledge for no apparent reason. The bloody battle sequences are obviously written in a way to keep the mad prince mad, when otherwise he has basically had a personality transplant and is all “I love you”s and declarations of devotion.

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This series is amazing! I love the storyline and the characters and so many secrets were revealed in this book. And yet I'm hankering for more after that ending.

Riona is a great character. She's brave and witty and fantastic. She's always making the right decision, even if she doesn't like it. Maddox is amazing and I love how dedicated and devoted he is to Riona.

I am extremely excited to see what happens in book 3, because I know it's going to be amazing!

Wow. Action packed and rich world building is the two main things that strike me about this book. A bit of a nasty cliffhanger but I'm a total sucker for those so it didn't bother me (just makes me anticipate the next book that much more.) Rionna Dark is definitely a heroine with power and morals, which is a great combo. I like her vulnerabilities and her weaknesses. Maddox seems to have turned into a big old marshmallow in this book, which is kind of disappointing - I miss his darkness and his madness, but I also like who he is becoming. Great continuation and I look forward to book 3

Awesome read

Trigger warnings throughout the series.
Wow! Excellent book 2 in The Everlasting Curse series. An angst-driven storyline guarantees a binge read. Which I did! I devoured every word. The world-building is compelling. The dynamic between Riona and Maddox is just fantastic to read. His storming of the witches and his acceptance of his feelings. An excellent dark romance.
A book has an epic battles, swoonworthy declaration of love, and friendships. Finding strength and acceptance.
Gut-wrenching cliffhanger. Unputdownable and unpredictable read. Highly recommended.

Better the devil you know

This book is filled with secrets, witches, sirens and vampires in a world with no true king. Three magical orbs hidden away are all that stands between life and death. Family secrets are revealed and new alliances are formed. The twins must reach a new understanding if they have any hope of survival before their luck runs out . I liked the sirens and a bit more of their back story would have been better as there was so much focus on the vampires and witches. An enjoyable series so far and I liked how the main character evolved during this book.

What a rollercoaster of a book! Witches, vampires, humans, sirens, and hellcasters. This series just keeps getting interesting by the page. With the curse and the orbs Riona is a ticking time bomb. When things seem to be working out around the castle, fire comes to destroy. But also the devotion of Maddox and Riona have for each other..😍... But the ending argh! G. Bailey knows when you punch us with a good ol cliffy.

It's finally here, the second book in the 'Everlasting Curse' series. I was so excited to see how the story of Riona and Maddox would go on.
I didn't want to put the book down and so to speak devoured it. I was amazed that it would end so quickly, until I realized that it was only half as many pages as the first book.
But we finally find out what Riona's family is all about and why vampires cannot influence her. And the revelations are really mind-blowing! The book is written very exciting and captivating. I highly recommend it!
The end really blew me away and I'm really sad that I have to wait so long for the third book - sigh!

I’m loving this series it’s getting so exciting and I can’t wait to read book 3, I love the characters and the secrets that were being kept from Riona wow and that cliffhanger had me shouting for book 3 right now. Sorry guys no spoilers but this book is not a standalone so you do need to read book 1 The Broken and Sinned to understand what’s going on and believe me you won’t be disappointed, I ♥️♥️♥️ this story and I highly recommend this book/ series.

This was an amazing story. I loved the story line and the characters, especially the relationship between Riona and Maddox. I don't want to give anything away but we see many twists and turns, with plenty of action, unveiled secrets, and a heart stopping cliffhanger. This is not a standalone book. Read the first book before diving into this one and be ready to blown away once you reach the end.

Fantastic!!!!!

OMG! Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, it ended with a bang. I can't wait to read the next book. Kiddos to the author. Other than the interest between the brother and best friend (which I did not see coming because there was no indication of there ever being an interest) the story is awesome.😃.

The Cursed and Desired

I think the second book was better than the first! Riona and Maddox story is great and I’m happy to watch their love grow. I’m worried by the end though and hope not all of Riona’s feelings are gone. I want to know what Austin is hiding. There are some wrong word in places and chapter 13 is weird. Not sure if it uploaded right. But all in all great book!

The book was well-written. We learned things we didn't know about the protagonist and the plot. The ending left me wondering how it was going to be resolved. The characters are great, each with their own unique personality, but circumstances change them. I won't say more, so you can read it for yourself. If you like fantasy with epic battles and a good plot, this book is for you.

Oh my word!

This book was heart pounding and heart breaking in many ways. We finally get some answers about Riona and she finally admits her feelings and gets her man but not her HEA. That ending was just....harsh. it was great and I look forward to finding out what happens.
