The exiled alien barbarian has been living alone in the desert--until he takes the female pilot as his captive.
She wants to get back to her crew, but he thinks she's fated to be his. Can she escape before he can claim her as his mate?
Caro thought the Dothveks who helped them when they crash-landed on the planet were big and brawny and intimidating. But the barbarian who kidnaps her is even scarier. He’s a disgraced Dothvek who’s been exiled from the clan for murder, and he’s been living by himself in the desert. Apparently, he thinks she’s his to take. Not if she has anything to say about it.
Rukken has been living by himself on the sands for years when he hears of the human females living with his former clan. As soon as he sees Caro, he immediately knows she’s meant to be his mate. Too bad she isn’t convinced. He’ll just have to keep her hidden until she realizes she belongs to him. Even if it means tying her up. If only he could restrain his own desires as easily as he can restrain the small female.
I love sexy aliens and independent heroines. I grew up on Star Trek: Next Generation and Star Wars (and I adore them equally). My favorite superhero is Thor (with Aquaman a close second because, well, Jason Momoa), my favorite dessert is key lime pie (okay, fine, all pie), and I still lament the loss of Firefly.
I live in North Carolina in the US and have one husband, two teenagers, and two neurotic cats. I sometimes wish I could teleport to a holographic space station like the one in my tribute brides series (or maybe vacation at the oasis with the sand planet barbarians). :-) When I'm not writing, I love to paddleboard, dive, travel, and read obsessively!
When Rukken sees and feels Caro he knows she is his. Since he is in exile for a crime he didn't do, they only way for him to be with her is to kidnap her. Caro is not happy about being taken from her crew mates. She tries to escape several times but doesn't succeed. Zatvar is up to no good and wants Rukken killed when they find him. But why? This series keeps getting better. Only one "bounty hunter babe" left. Maybe the author can find a few more women somewhere. Hint, hint.
Spoiler..
Another reviewer said that he never apologized for her kidnapping but he does several times. So if that is something that would hold you back from reading this book, rest assured. One thing I would like to see is what happens when they talk to K'alvek's mother.
I loved this series. The stories are interesting. There's more story than sex, but the sex is hot. There's a lot of action and drama. Each story is different and they're not cookie cutter. There is an overall arc. And the series doesn't go on forever though I would have liked a little more.
This story is a cute enemies to lovers with forced proximity. I'm glad Caro got her own story and mate. They also clear up some issues regarding Rukken's exile and the scoundrel Zatvar
I love that anything goes when reading sci fi and that is what Tana gives readers. The Barbarians of the Sand Planet and is a steamy sci fi romance series as are her other series. This books sees an all female bounty hunter team travelling across galaxies but put out of action by another group. Crash landing on a planet that is nothing but sand for miles and miles. I really like Tana's writing and her characters are totally believable. There is fun, action and so much more between the pages. If you are a lover of sci fi with sexy aliens and hot romance you will love Tana's work
*This review contains spoilers* The writing and editing of this novel was super clean, with no typos that I caught in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building was vibrant, with the desert and tiny oasis coming alive for me. The characterization was very good, with both hero and heroine being vibrant, sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship was good, though I did not like that the hero never acknowledged that kidnapping is wrong, and the heroine and the tribe let him off the hook with no punishment for his dastardly deed. That seems to be the one glaring weakness of this author. She does not tend to do any kind of satisfying groveling and atonement scenes for her heroes who do dastardly things. The plot and pacing was exciting, with the scuzzy tribe leader finally getting his comeuppance at the end. There was surprisingly little angst in this novel considering the hero KIDNAPS the heroine, and there were very high stakes, which I tend to prefer in my romance novels. This novel used the Fated Mates trope, the Mars Needs Women trope, the Barbarian Hero trope, the Kidnapped Heroine trope, and the Enemies to Lovers trope. The world building, plot and pacing were five stars. The development of the romantic relationship and characterization were also five stars. However, I took one star off this novel's final score because of the lack of groveling and atonement on the hero's part for his dastardly deed. I love a kidnapping plot, but I enjoy it largely because it sets up the hero for some major groveling and atonement, when it is done right. This novel has a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, which is a huge plus for this whole series. I recommend this story to readers who enjoy trope heavy sci-fi romance adventure romps. I plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

Last chance ....
These are not stand-alone stories, as they have reoccurring characters, begin where the previous one ended, and have an overall storyline arc.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading (and re-reading) these stories. I read the first 5 stories some time ago, but for some reason didn’t write any reviews, so that gave me the opportunity to read them again, and I think they were better the second time.
The world universe is well developed, they all have strong characters and a strong overall theme. That is why I gave 5 stars despite some minor grammatical issues.
Here is some high level background / overview of how the story begins:
The all female bounty hunting crew was trolled by a rival bounty hunter, Mourad, who forced them to crash land on a sand planet, Zandureen. It is populated by two groups of barbarians, the Dothveks and Cresteks, they were formed when the original group split in two; the Dothveks remained on the sands and the Cresteks formed a city.
The Dothveks remain empathetic and can easily tolerate the planet’s two suns, while the Cresteks have lost their ability to sense each other’s feelings and are not as resilient in regards to the sun.
In this story, Caro is kidnapped by an exiled Dothvek, Rukken, and taken to his small oasis. Her friends, and their respective mates, set out to search for her, with the blessing of Zatvar, the leader of the Dothveks. He gives them an order to kill Rukken on sight since he was exiled for murder instead of being put to death as he should have been.
Will Rukken try to hurt Caro? Will she be safe until they can find her? Is there another reason they were told to kill him on sight versus bringing back to the tribe for a trial?
Savage is the fifth book in the Barbarians of the Sand Planet series. Each book is better than the last. We met Rukken in the last book when he save T'Kar from death on the sands. In this book we find out that he was wrongly accused of murder and sent into exile! He sees and senses Caro when she help Holly rescued T'Kar and he knows that she is his one true mate.. Well, he's been out of touch with civilization and he kidnaps Caro from the camp and as you might expect all help breaks loose. Carl is the pilot of the all female bounty hunting crew that crash landed on the Sand planet. She is used to being the one taking care of others and making sure they are safe. She carries a lot of guilt from her rebel days it the crew has become her family and she loves them. When she's kidnapped by a very sexy savage she not happy but she can't resist him. I don't want to give to much away but there are misunderstandings, action and some series questions and mysteries are answered in this book. The attraction between Rukken and Caro is hotter than the twin suns beating down on the sands of this planet. This is a great read that leaves you wanting more and more. It also leave you ask them awesome teaser for the next book. Which I think is going to be awesome I'm very much into the sexy silver fox warriors. I can't wait until June! More please. 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Caro is taken by Rukken who was exiled for a murder he never committed. When he saw her across the sands he was drawn to her and the pull was too strong. Once he had Caro at his camp, he knew she was his mate. But now he had to convince her that she was his mate. Caro escaped in the middle of the night into the desert, only to step into shifting sands. Rukken is woken by something and discovers Caro is missing, he races off into the desert after her and hears her scream.
A few days pass and Caro is learning the story of Rukken and how he was wrongly accused for a murder. She believes his story and is all for him finding justice. They are being chased by someone who wishes I’ll towards them and they ra e off into the night, only to be stopped by a spaceship landing in the desert in front of them. Their long lost crew member has come back with a new ship.
Will the girls decide to go back to the stars to fight for bounties or will they decide to stay with their new mates? This book like all the previous ones before it gives a small tease of what the next book is about. Tana Stone has written a very compelling story of freedom and the journey to finding their love. I really enjoyed reading this book, I promise you won’t be disappointed when you read it.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this adventurous alien-barbarian romance. So far, this has been an intriguing & fascinating series as we follow the individual journeys for each of the female bounty crew that were forcible marooned on a sandy planet (Zandureen) although this book can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the series to obtain the maximum enjoyment of the underlining story. There is good scene descriptions & world building with a suspenseful, unpredictable plot. The characters have unique personalities but are inclined to be exceptionally strong-willed individuals but are quite likeable with good chemistry between them. There is: a young human female (Caro) is abducted by a exiled Dothvek warrior (Rukken) who is definitely positive that Caro is his fated mate naturally she is not too impressed with this idea & even less so when he ties her up, humans, alien barbarians/warriors, friendship, action, adventure, abduction, twists & turns, drama, intrigue, suspense, longings, defiance, honor, deceit, manipulations, protectiveness, danger, threats, conflict, violence, justice, surprises, compromises, enemies, attacks, violence, conflict, mild bondage, contentment, some steamy scenes & a interesting epilogue that is paving the way for the next book in the series.
A nice addition to the series! These can be read as stand alone's but there is a continuing story arc so they are best read in order.
This story begins with a kidnapping. We met Rukken in the previous book when he helped T'Kar in the desert. When a group of humans and Dothvek (his people) find T'Kar in the desert, Rukken sees a human and is instantly drawn to her. He knows she's his mate. Tired of being alone, he kidnaps her and takes her to his camp in the desert.
Caro isn't feeling any kind thoughts about Rukken when she wakes up confused in his tent. She makes it her mission to escape and get back to her friends.
This wasn't my favorite of the series but I did enjoy it. I wasn't a big fan of Caro forgiving/giving in to her feelings for Rukken. Even though we are in her thoughts and know she's conflicted about her feelings for her capture and her desire to leave, I think more time should have been spent building their relationship so that it wasn't so odd. It seemed to me, she jumped into bed with him awfully fast.
I do like how the series arc advanced in this book. I was happy to see some of the previous character make an appearance. We even got chapters of the book from their perspective which I liked and didn't since it took away from the main couple.
I am excited to see how the series concludes in the next book
I was looking forward to this book. I liked both characters in previous books and they did not disappoint. Sweet Caro was a nice change from hollow Holly. I also was sad and wanted revenge for Rukken and his forced exile. When he was attempting to force feed her, it was hilarious. Both he and Caro had enduring and stubborn personalities you couldn't help but love.
I liked he taught her to hunt and appreciate the life an animal gives so they can live.
I was soooooo excited when Tori landed. I did not like her in her own book but for some reason, I always love her when she shows up as a supporting character.
I was heartbroken for Rukken when he overheard Tori and Caro talking about leaving but it bugged me for 2 reasons. Why should he expect her to give up her life on a ship when he wouldn't consider giving up his on the sand planet? Why didn't he feel her emotions when talking. She was sad, confused, and doubtful she would leave. Instead he just ditches her without talking? Booooo.. Lost major points.. But I still like him
Overall book was great. Can't wait for next one. Love Bex and Tommel
Update: Caro is sooooooooo awesome in the next book. You can read review on next book for details.

I loved Rukken and Caro’s alien romance with a side of kidnapping. This is a heartwarming, captivating and steamy romance full of lovable and relatable characters with a bit of angst. Caro is a pilot that works on a ship with all female bounty hunters. Their ship was forced by another bounty hunter ship to crash on a primitive sand planet that has not had a lot of interaction with other species. Rukken is a Dothvek, a native of the sand planet who are empathy. He has been exiled from his clan after being framed for a crime he did not commit. When Rukken sees Caro from a distance he is convinced she is his mate based on the empathic connection he feels so he kidnaps her. Getting to their HEA from a kidnapping is not going to be easy including all the baggage both of them have. Despite Caro being taken and held prisoner, this is not a dubcon or noncon situation. Rukken and Caro’s relationship develops organically without forced intimacy. The story includes all the yummy goodness that you’d expect from this genre - sweet moments, steamy scenes, fighting, dangerous situations, alien physiology and cultures, evil actors, henchmen, loyal friends, tragic back stories, fated mates, coincidences, plot twists, and laughs. 4.5 stars.
Savage is the fifth book in the Barbarians of the Sand Planet series by Tana Stone. Barbarians of the Sand Planet Series by Tana Stone is a great sci-fi romance series with all the ingredients I look for to keep me captivated from beginning to end. With female bounty hunters, alien barbarian warriors, action, adventure, battles, violence, chemistry, steam, connection, fated mates vibes, missions, drama, danger, angst, emotion, menage, and more. I love a great sci-fi romance, and when one of my Goodreads friends read the series and gave it such glowing review, I knew I had to dive in. One book led to two, and then before I knew it, I had devoured the entire series. The Series Contains: -Bounty (Book #1) -> K’alvek and Danica’s story. -Captive (Book #2) -> Kush and Max’s story. -Torment (Book #3) -> Vrax and Tori’s story. -Tribute (Book #4) -> T’Kar and Holly’s story. -Savage (Book #5) -> Rukken and Caro’s story. -Claim (Book #6) -> Tommel and Bexli’s story. -Prize (Book #7) -> Drev & Trek (Alien twins) and Caterina’s story. (Menage) -Secret (Book #8) -> Karv and Maya’s story. I didn’t stop here, heading back in to explore more of Ms. Stone’s stories…. So stay tuned! Enjoy… Happy Reading…
I didn't read the first 5 books and maybe that would have helped. I just couldn't connect with Caro or Rukken.
Caro is the pilot of the ship that went down. She also feels like someone is watching her and she doesn't know who it is or why they are doing it. Then her life is turned upside down when she is kidnapped by Rukken and taken to his tent. Her first thought, she needs to get back to her people. Then things change. She connects with him. He calls her his mate. Why?
Rukken can't let Caro go. She is meant for him. Even when she runs away, he chases her. How can she love someone who is exiled from his people? Accused of something he didn't do? Yet, she is his mate and needs to understand that he will see to her needs and wants any way that he can. When he claims her it will because she wants it just like he does. Their union is everything he hoped for and more. When they are threatened he only thinks of her survival.
There were some slow parts, that I skimmed. After they mated, I was bored and skimmed the rest of the book. Even when things were figures out it was dull.
At first, Caro resisted the mating, but soon realized she was his as much as he was hers! by sewsummore
In this book, of the "Barbarians of the Sand Planet Series," pilot Caro is abducted by Rukken. He was exiled from the tribe for a murder he had not committed. Rukken had been watching his former tribe member and their mates from a distance. When he saw Caro, his heart hitched in his chest, and he knew he had found his mate. He would take her and claim the female as his. I enjoyed reading Caro and Rukken's story. There were many obstacles the two of them would have to overcome before the tribe would know the truth about his exile, and he was able to claim Caro as his for all time. Caro had at first resisted the effect Rukkan had upon her, but in the end she knew that what he said was true. She was his as much as he was hers! I have read all the books in this series and I am eager to read the next book in the series!

Caro is a member of the all-female crew who crash-landed and is stuck on the sand planet. Rukken, falsely accused of murder and exiled to the desert by his clan, is a Dothvek Warrior who sees her and is certain that she is his mate. So he kidnaps her until he can convince her they belong together.
Rukken has been living alone for years when he falls for Caro. He is protective of her. And because Caro doesn’t fall instantly in love, they get to know each other and grow their feelings through their interactions and experiences. Will it finally come to light that he was innocent of the murder? Will he be restored to his clan? And will Caro realize that her warrior is a man she is ready to spend her life with?
I really enjoy this series. The story line is good, the pacing is fast and keeps the reader connected with the very likable characters. Grab your copy and see whether Rukken was right about his fated mate!
I Absolutely LOVE this author!!!! This was an awesome read that I thoroughly enjoyed and I highly recommend!!! The story and characters pulled me in from the beginning and I couldn't stop reading until I finished. Rukken was such a hot alpha alien male and the heroine Caro were such a hot and sexy couple you will love them!!! Their chemistry and personalities went well together and made for a hot and steamy romance. You feel like you know them with the word usage and story line. I always feel like each new book is my favorite, but I really can't pick a favorite each of her books is a must have!!! I'm now reading them from start to finish again due to being in with drawls until there's another book! It's an awesome and amazing book and a definite must read for any fan and I can't wait to read more!!!

Human Caro is abducted from the Dothvek village by exiled Dothvek Rukken who feels that she is his mate. Caro has other ideas and just wants to escape and rejoin her teammates. It appears that Rukken was exiled for murder but he says he was innocent and framed for it and so over time Caro believes him and wants to help to clear his name. She also starts to feel the connection but fights it all the way. eventually, she succumbs but can they clear his name before he is killed?
I enjoyed this story although eventually, I became sick of Caro and her denial of what she was feeling and was developing between her and Rukken. I did love the arrival of Tori and what transpired after then. Full of passion, heightened emotions and more betrayal it was certainly full of lots of drama and danger. Easy to read and understand. Contains sexual content.
Another fun read. Caro is abducted from the Dothvek village where she had been stranded with her fellow bounty hunters. Several of them had found mates but she and Bexli remain unattached. Her status is changed after Rukken ensconces her in his solitary banishment digs where she learns they are soulmates who can sense each other’s thoughts and emotions.
Zatvar, the new leader of the Dothveks, had seized power by murder and seeks out Rukken when he discovers he hadn’t died when he was exiled to the desert. Rukken is aware of Zatvar’s misdeeds and could conceivably expose him if others believe what he has to say.
A missing member of the bounty hunter team reappears with a new ship and helps them in their fight for justice. It is still to be determined if the mated bounty hunters will resume their former profession or decide to remain with their Dothvek mates.

Caro was a part of a resistance group until she met Danica and became the second member of an all woman bounty hunter crew now their ship has been destroyed when they crash landed on a primitive planet with the Dothveks the native Barbarians, Caro is waiting for the Tahadu to happen and the whole village would be there. Rukken had been exiled from the Dothvek clan for a crime he didn’t commit but he was hiding in the bushes near his clan for only one reason her the female with the nearly black hair, when Rukken saw her he knew that she was his so he snuck into her tent drugged her with Clavia which knocked her out then he ran with her back to his camp. I loved this story it’s a fantastic read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Well... this story like the previous ones in this series is just superb! The storyline is good and the characters just so fantastic!. What I also like in this series of the Sand people is that we get to hear a bit about the characters in the previous stories so we have a sort of completion or continuum from the other stories. This one is all about true friendships, love, honour, and dishonour, as well as traitorship and trust. Overall a really good story and one so deserving of the five stars I am giving it here.

Caro is one of the many female crew who crash landed and is stuck on the sand planet. Rukken has been falsely accused of murder and has been exiled to the desert. Rukken is a Dothvek Warrior who's been alone in the desert for years. He happens to see Caro and believes she is his mate so he kidnaps her and will keep her until he can convince her that he's right. It's great that the get to know each other. Will Rukken ever get cleared of the false accusation of murder? Will Rukken and Caro be able to Mind Mate? Read this story and find out. Great addition to the series. another fabulous book in this series. fast paced, exciting happenings, kidnappings, intrigue, suspense, surprises, love, hot sex, ropes, sexy naked alien men, and sooo much more. excellent descriptions and story line that keep u enthralled and reading to the last line. u will experience lots of emotions why reading this book and cheer for Rukken to find his happy ever after with Caro after all the hardships he has been through and for the truth to finally come out. and lots of hot sexy times to. highly recommended read.

This was another good story for the series. This one had the exiled warrior sneaking his mate Caro out of the camp. Obviously the warrior didn’t think his plan through as he just grabbed Caro. So, no she was not pleased to find herself away from her crew. The warrior had to learn to woo Caro and bring her around to his side. One of my favorite quotes from the book is: “I would warn you what you are getting into with a human mate,” K’alvek continued, “but I suspect you already have some idea how difficult they are.” It’s a good one. Read On!
Caro was with the rescue mission sent out to find T’Kar when she felt that she was being watched. Rukken, the exiled Dothvek , was following T’Kar to make sure he was ok when he felt Caro and knew immediately what she was to him. There’s a lot that could be improved on in this series by a good editor but the characters and their feelings are what draw you in. Of course, there’s also the dominance of these big, sexy, golden barbarians. The crew members aren’t the type of women who are easily dominated but it’s different with the guys who are their mind mates. A good read.
Each time I read one of the books in this series, it suddenly becomes my favorite, and this is no exception. It was a great story, and I really enjoyed getting to read more about Caro. And Rukken, yum! Though I can imagine he'll be even more tempting if he ever meets a razor and some shaving foam ;) Betrayal, vengeance, and justice play a large part in this steamy story, as do friendship, loyalty, sacrifice, self-blame, destiny, courage, hope, and love. Now I can't wait to read about Bexli and Tommel.
I received a free copy of Savage, but that did not affect my review.
This has been a wonderful series to read and review. The writing is well paced in this alien romance along with titillating romance, action, and a well detailed background of the characters and the planet they are on. This story about Caro one of the females on Danica's crew of female bounty hunters that crash landed on the sand planet and Rukken who has been living alone for years after being accused for murder was a very enjoyable story to read. The interactions between them and the mystery of "Who Done It" kept me turning the pages. I volunteer to read and review this ARC via Booksprout.
Another great read in the series. This is Caro and Rukken's story.
Caro, the ship's pilot, gets kidnapped by Rukken because she is his fated mind mate. She of course does not believe him and fights their attraction. Rukken was exiled from the Dothvek clan for a crime he did not commit. Once the real murderer realizes Rukken is still alive he hunts him down to eliminate him. Will Rukken survive or will the power hungry Dothvek stay in control? Highly recommend.

I was actually waiting for this book to come out — the story of Rukken, the exile, and Caro, the kidnappee — and couldn't wait knowing/reading their great adventure to falling in love (but of course) and I was not disappointed though I don't appreciate the heartache I nearly have though momentarily.
It looks like there is only one remaining in the bounty-hunting crew that remains unmated and it sure looks like it's going to be another good read.
