Gavin Winter has earned his reputation as one of the best prizefighters in England the hard way: using his fists and sheer determination. With the biggest bout of his career approaching, Gavin will do anything to win.
Until he’s attacked and wakes with no memory of who he is.

After she discovers his true identity, Caro is faced with a difficult choice. She must either reveal to him she is the sister of his enemy and risk losing Gavin forever, or preserve her secret and their blossoming romance.
Will deceit, danger, and warring families prove too much to overcome? Or will their love be strong enough to unite the Winters and the Suttons?
USA TODAY bestselling author Scarlett Scott writes steamy Victorian and Regency historical romances with strong, intelligent heroines and sexy alpha heroes. She lives in Pennsylvania and Maryland with her Canadian husband, their adorable identical twins, a demanding diva dog, and one zany cat.
A wonderful love story with another back story running alongside. This has been the way of the series and it’s brilliant, it really works and keeps you rapt with anticipation and excitement.
At last we see Gavin ( the Fighters ) story, he’s looses his memory and his heart, and the only one to help in both cases is Caroline Sutton. She’s the sister of the Winters greatest enemy Jasper Sutton.
It seems roles are changing and so are Loyalties, but who is loyal to who, and what is the end result going to be, can the two families ever find a happy medium and a satisfying peace.
Loved every page and can’t wait to hear more from the Sutton’s .
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
Okay I love this series. The guys are always faithful, they are fierce but honorable and they definitely love their women! I can't say enough about them. I can't wait to read Jasper's story and I hope they find Logan the missing, Sutton brother. Gavin was so special but when he was so mean to her, it broke my heart and I even teared up. He was a jerk. He did redeem himself but it took for her to be kidnapped until he came to his senses. Another Scarlett Scott Sexy Scintillating Story! Please keep them coming!!!
What happens when a gentle giant with no memory falls in love with the angel who heals him? Gavin Winters has no recollection of the man he was before he wakes up and finds Caro Sutton caring for him. He falls for her hard, not caring about his past, only what the future holds for him with his angel. I loved these two characters. One so big and powerful, the other small in body, but fierce in spirit. Her determination to protect this man, no matter what, proves strength is not determined by size. They balance each other out in a beautiful way. Another great addition to the series and the perfect lead in to the next group!
Oh my, these Winters and Suttons! I am a huge fan of Scarlett Scott’s writing. Her storytelling keeps it true to the era and yet accessible to contemporary romance readers.
Gavin and Caro - what can I say? A woman brilliant yet a mind of her own. And another Winter sibling with all the fierceness in how they love.
What I loved- - Great characters. Hero makes you swoon & heroine makes yiu cheer. - Great storytelling pace. Kept me engaged.
Things to consider - - standalone? Maybe but these stories are quick reads and builds your love for the family.
Its a story of loyalty and love. A knock to the noggin might help you heart find its true home when your mind is left out of the matters of the heart.
East London, 1815 They'd found him beaten to a pulp. Which was ironic, because Gavin was the one usually doing the beating, because he was a champion prizefighter. He just didn't remember.
Now a Gavin Sutton was being taking care of Caro Winter. He was in the enemy camp and if his memory didn't return, well.. what would happen to him? Could this be an actual match between the two?
Have loved this series and Gavin and Caro's story is the best. Oh wait, I have said that about every one of them haven't I? Caro knows who Gavin is, but her brother Jasper wants her to not tell him. For what purpose she is not sure but dislikes keeping it from him.. Especially as the attraction grows between them, like lightning!
So sad to see the series end, but looking forward to the next series about the Suttons! Cannot wait!
What a lovely story. Loved all the characters and the storyline was great. A very entertaining and enjoyable read - as always from this author. I loved reading this series. Sad that this is the final book in this series. 5☆
I really enjoyed reading Gavin and Caro's story, their story starts off with lies and misunderstandings due in part to the fact that Gavin has no recollection of who or what kind of man he is. Caro finds Gavin wounded and close to death in the alley behind The Sinner's Palace the gaming hell owned and run by the notorious Sutton family and rivals to the wicked Winters. Caro being a healer at heart takes Gavin in with the help of her guards to try and save his life, Jasper soon becomes aware of Gavin's condition and swears Caro to secrecy in the hopes that he can protect Gavin from the danger that awaits him. Unbeknownst to either Jasper decides to uphold the truce between their families by telling the Winters that Gavin is safe and suffering from amnesia and that whoever attacked Demon and Gavin might strike again should they find out that Gavin is still alive. As Gavin begins the slow road to recovery he and Caro become more and more attracted to each other as she aids his recovery with her salves, unguents and healing herbs. Slowly Gavin is getting flashs of memory that arrive and disappear leaving him frustrated at his inability to even recall his name. However Caro is feeling both attraction and overwhelming guilt at the fact that her oath and loyalty to her brother prevents her from divulging everything his name, his prizefighting and his family history. When Gavin discovers this duplicity will he be able to forgive the woman he has grown to love and will he discover who is the person trying to kill him.

This is the last book in the Winters series and I have to say I’m feeling sad about it! This was a fun series with each Winter so different from each other. Each book are standalone, but I would advise reading them in order. Gavin Winter is a well known champion boxer and had a high profile boxing match coming up. Until he is discovered by Caroline Sutton behind her family’s gaming hell, the Sinners Palace. She takes him in and nurses him back to health, but he has no memory. As Gavin spends time with Caro, they fall in love 💕. Her brother Jasper Sutton knows who he is and Caro wonders why she can’t tell Gavin! Caro is the healer in the Sutton family and her twin sister is the one who sings at the gaming hall. The Sutton’s are also a large and loving family just like the Winters. I’m so sad to see this addictive series come to an end. But Gavin and Caro’s story was exciting and action filled. The perfect ending to an amazing series ❤️
This final installment of The Wicked Winters takes us into the life of the last illegitimate member of the Winter Family - Gavin Winter.
Gavin Winter grew up in the East End of London & you had to be able to take care of yourself & your family. The Winter siblings (not by blood but chosen) succeeded in becoming one of two East End family crime leaders - the other being the Suttons. One night someone tries to kill Gavin & he wakes up beaten, shot, no memory of who he is, where he is & what happened to him.
Caro Sutton is a healer in the Sutton group of siblings - something needed when your brothers have fought their way to lead their territory in the East End. She is beautiful, intelligent & when not mending someone from their injuries or sickness, she spends her time making ointment, tinctures etc. One night she steps out of the Suttons Gambling Hell & finds a man barely alive, she has the guards carry him to her bedchamber & begins trying to save his life but even in his beaten & bloody state, she recognizes Gavin Winter.
After four days of being unconscious to delirious from fever, the first thing Gavin sees in the angel tending to him. Over time the two build a friendship - Gavin has not remembered anything & Caro's brother Jasper is the only other one that knows Gavin is here & he knows who he is - their sworn East End enemy -The Winters. The lies, deceit, the building of a friendship & growing romance culminate is truths being found out, Gavin turning his back on Caro for not telling him who he was or contacting his family - but things are not always as they seem to be & the exciting & wonderful ending will leave you smiling.
I highly recommend this entire series - although these can be read as standalones, I recommend reading them in series order to get to know the reoccurring members of the families & am already looking forward to the beginning of the Sutton Family stories with Jasper Sutton being Book 1. I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.
A great ending to the Wicked Winter’s series! Though all the East End Winters make an appearance it wasn’t for very long and the only significant other mentioned/seen was Gen’s husband which was kind of odd. You could kinda tell Ms. Scott was preparing us for the Sinful Sutton’s series with how much they featured in this book but it didn’t feel forced and made sense with the plot considering Gavin can’t remember who he is for half of the book. Speaking of the plot, I thought the memory loss was perfect for a novella! It didn’t drag on too long, it let Caro and Gavin’s relationship form at a good pace (aka no insta love), and it lends naturally lends itself to being the Big Problem without pissing you off because it makes sense. Overall, I liked this novella and though Gavin and Caro were very cute together.
P.S. I’m interested in the Sinful Sutton’s series but I’m not sure how I feel about them yet. Caro was definitely a sweetheart so she is an exception to this but in previous books aren’t the Sutton’s pretty awful people?? Like weren’t they trying to poison the water supply in the first East End Winter’s book?? Jasper was a dick in the first two books and parts of this one and Penelope doesn’t seems like a great person either (honestly I think I liked Jasper more than her). And now we are just supposed to like them and be invested in their lives? Just food for thought. Also i will only be reading these if they are full novels, if they are novellas I won’t be partaking in this series.
Gavin Winter has earned his reputation as one of the best prizefighters in England the hard way: using his fists and sheer determination. Gavin has the biggest bout of his career approaching then he’s attacked, left for dead outside the Sutton’s Sinners Palace and wakes with no memory of who he is but sees the face of an angel. When Caro Sutton finds a bleeding man outside her family’s gaming hell she nurses him back to health, charmed by the handsome gentleman who has no recollection of what happened to him or what his name is. This is the final story in the series & I’m sad to see it end. However it ended on a high. I loved both Gavin & Caro, their attraction was immediate & sizzled but secrets, lies & deception could pull them apart & there’s also someone out to kill Gavin. Another unputdownable read from the author which I devoured in a sitting, strong characters, a very well placed story & I was one very happy reader, I also loved how it opened the door to a spin off series, which I’m now eagerly awaiting My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Outstanding finale to the excellent Winter family series. This story centers on Caroline Sutton and Gavin Winters, (he’s from the illegitimate branch of Winters).
I love that it was the heroine who was the rescuer. Finding the unconscious, bloodied giant of a man behind her family’s gaming hell, Cato nursed the nearly-dead Gavin back to health and the couple slowly, lovingly fell in love. Though a secret hung over their budding relationship because Caro was initially torn between family loyalty and trusting in a lifelong enemy of the Sutton clan.
Cato Sutton is a warrior in her own right, armed with intelligence, compassion, and iron will she was the perfect match for Gavin Winter. It’s a bittersweet goodbye to the Wicked Winters but I found solace that the Sinful Suttons series will follow in October.
Bravo Ms. Scott for sharing your fabulous series for readers to Fallon love with.
This story had a very endearing couple in Gavin Winter and Caroline Sutton. Caro was the healer for her family and she nursed Gavin back to health. However, she was torn between keeping a secret from the man she cared for and loyalty to her family. Gavin had no memory from before his injury, he only knew he was very attracted to Caro. Unfortunately their families are often in conflict with each other. There is a mystery as to who attacked Gavin and also what will happen when Gavin regains his memory. This was an enjoyable read and the next series about Caro’s family sounds intriguing. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Scarlett Scott never disappoints and the final story of the Winter siblings is no exception. Winter’s Warrior is filled unexpected twists and turns that will have you second guessing at every turn. Caro and Gavin are delightfully complex. Every moment of this story is truly heartfelt. Although this book isn’t quite as steamy as Winter’s Widow, you will still find all of the romance you have come to expect with Scarlett Scott books. Even though it will be sad to say goodbye to the Winters, I am looking forward to getting to know the Suttons in the spin off. The Winters series will always be at the top of my reread pile.
I just love this series. If you haven't read the Winters. Please do! This is lucky one 13!
Gavin Winter is a prizefighter aka boxer who has amnesia and wakes up in the den of his enemies the Sutton. Caro Sutton is the sister of Jasper Sutton the arch-nemesis of the Winters. She is nursing Gavin back to health and cannot tell him who he is. Gavin's life is in danger and Caro will do anything to protect even from her powerfully scary brother. These two fall in love despite all these things keeping them apart.
This is a must-read if you are a fan of the Winters.
Winters Warrior is the fantastic final book in Scarlett Scott’s Wicked Winters series. It can be read as a stand-alone book without feeling you have missed anything, but I would definitely read the previous books because they are all little gems. The Winters and Suttons have been enemies for years, only recently striking up a shaky truce. Gavin Winter is one of the best prize-fighters in England. With the biggest fight of his career coming up, he is one day set upon and left for dead. When he wakes up, he has no memory of who he is. He only knows that he has been saved by an angel. When Caro Sutton finds a man heavily injured outside her family’s gaming hell, she has no idea who he is. She takes him in and nurses him back to health, gradually falling for the gentle giant who cannot remember who he is or what happened to him. When she finds out who he is, she is told to keep it a secret by her brother. Torn between her love for Gavin and loyalty to her brother, Caro faces a difficult choice. Her loyalty to her brother must come first. But as Caro and Gavin fall in love, what will happen when Gavin regains his memory? Will he be able to forgive her deceit? Will their love be able to unite their families? Gavin is an unexpectedly charming hero. Having grown up in the rookeries and earning his living with violence he is a little rough around the edges. His loss of memory makes him uncertain, and his gentle nature is allowed to come to the fore. I love how protective and tender he was around Caro. He was angry when he found out about Caro’s deception but when she faced danger, he was willing to put his life down for her. Caro is a wonderful heroine. She is sweet, compassionate, loyal and brave. When Gavin rejects her in his anger, she isn’t afraid to fight for him or put herself in danger to save him. She is definitely one of my favourites in this series. I loved this story. Scarlett excels with each of her Wicked Winters stories, and it is difficult to pick a favourite, but Gavin and Caro are definitely up there as among the sweetest. A case of true opposites – Gavin is large and physically powerful whilst Caro is small and gentle. A healer and a prize-fighter should not work. But they each complement each other beautifully. There are plenty of twists and action in the story. Someone wants Gavin dead and the reason Caro is asked to keep quiet by her brother is not what it seems. This doesn’t take away from the romance between the two – it enhances it beautifully. It was great to revisit the Winter siblings and see the bond they have. Scarlett has ended this beloved series perfectly with Gavin and Caro and we get a glimpse of her new series The Sinful Suttons with Caro’s brother Jasper and Lady Octavia and the introduction of the rest of Caro’s siblings. I received an ARC copy of this story for my honest opinion and I definitely recommend you pick this up. A sweet and sexy delight!
The first 60% was 5 stars, I loved the plot and both Gavin and Caro. He was so sweet and charming and flirty without being arrogant. He was a cinnamon roll. But he went way too far (or more likely the author did) when he got his memory back. He has a right to be upset, I’ve read other books with similar plot of one person knowing the other’s identity while suffering amnesias. Heck there is even a very popular movie, Overboard, about it. And none of those characters go so far off the dee end like he did. It took him 40% of the book to realize she and their love (yes they’re in love and confess it before the memory returns) are what is really important. This wasn’t even a third act break up since they’re broken up for nearly the last half of the book.
It is not fair or right to put the blame on her. It was not her idea, she did not want to. Then when she explained why her brother (don’t even get me started on Jasper) wanted to keep it a secret, at least to her knowledge, he didn’t even care to process the information. The same information he already had, and why he had to stay in the private quarters. This is way too much of a 180pg book, he was so sweet and kind and sexy, now he’s just a raging alpha hole. He says things that can’t be taken back. It was too much. We’d call it a red flag and abuse in real life, which is such a disappointment. Not a good way to end the series.
Ugh, Jasper, not the caring older brother we are lead to believe. The harm he puts his sisters’ in is inexcusable. She was nearly raped because he made her work the gaming hell dressed as a doxy with none of the brothers keeping an eye on her. And to know he does this to Pen regularly as well is not ok. He also manipulated Caro so she never had all the facts of why Gavin’s identity needed to be kept a secret.
Caro is in trouble how she going to hide this giant of a half dead man from her brother Jasper?? Gavin Winter is barely alive and its taken 3 grown men to lift him! Well hide him in my room Caro says! Caro nurses Gavin back from the brink of death and sees all of this beautiful giant! But his injuries indicate someone wants him dead! Caro has been sworn to secrecy and Gavin weeks later still doesn't know who he is!?? These two grow closer and we see glimpses of a previous lovers pain in Caro's life but nothing compares to the feelings they both share! These two are both stubborn and when his secret is exposed there is much more than Caro's secrets that shake Gavin! His family has also been keeping secrets! A madman who will stop at nothing including kidnapping and murder but he hadn't counted on the Sutton and Winter family joining forces. Together they are beyond formidable! What happens when Gavin memory returns? Can he forgive Caro? Will he even have a chance? They are ruthless but even more so when they fall in love! Things get ugly when one of their own is attacked but now there are 2 of their own in the hands of evil! The results will shake the rookery from East End to Mayfair! You won't put this one down!!! 7 stars!!!
This book is amazing. It made my heart sing and my soul smile. Gavin Winter is one of the best prizefighters in England. With the biggest bout of his career approaching, Gavin will do anything to win. Until he’s attacked and wakes with no memory of who he is. When Caro Sutton finds a bleeding man outside her family’s gaming hell, she has no idea who the felled giant is. She nurses him back to health, charmed by the handsome gentleman who has no recollection of what happened to him or what his name is. After she discovers his true identity, Caro is faced with a difficult choice. Will deceit, danger, and warring families prove too much to overcome? Or will their love be strong enough to unite the Winters and the Suttons? This book is soooo good. I couldn´t stop reading it. I could feel their love rising from the pages. Caro is the kind of female character I enjoy the most. Sweet, caring, emotional. Devil is a true gentleman and he falls in love with of her almost from the beginning. Together they made my day. Scarlett Scott did it again. This story is beautifully written, romantic, steamy and impossible to put down. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I am so sad this is the final installment of the Wicked Winters. The last Winter has fallen…in love.
I have eagerly awaited this book since the last to find out what happened to Gavin and who attacked Demon in the last book.
The Suttons and the Winters have a very weak truce at this time. Now Gavin has arrived on their gaming hell’s doorstep nearly beaten to death. Caro (Caroline) has taken him in and as house healer has taken upon herself to save him.
Once he awakens he doesn’t have any of his memories and Jasper has made Caro swear on her family not to tell Gavin anything. Mostly to protect them but also Gavin because someone tried to take his life and failed.
To be honest, this is not my favorite of ALL the Winter books – but I still loved the story. Gavin was so sweet and he fell so quickly for his butterfly. Caro does feel guilty keeping the truth from Gavin. I was a little annoyed by this as well but she redeems herself in my eyes later on.
Very steamy, sweet and I just love my Wicked Winters. The whole family.
Very excited for the spin off series. Didn’t think I would care about Jasper Sutton…but I do…Scarlett Scott has made me care!

Gavin Winter the prize fighter of the Winters’ clan who finds himself without any memory after he wakes up in Carolyn Sutton’s bed. Caro finds him outside her families gambling establishment beaten to a bloody pulp and left for dead. Her brother, Jasper Sutton, swears her to secrecy and to not reveal to Gavin she knows who he really is. The Sutton’s and the Winters have a new truce established in the last book so what does this mean for them keeping Gavin’s life a secret from the Winter’s family, leaving them wondering if he’s a love or dead. A captivating story as Caro and Gavin grow closer. Gavin doesn’t remember if he has a wife or not. He can’t help being attracted to the sweet Caro, and she knows this isn’t going to end well when he finds out she’s been lying to him all this time. Loyalty is at stake for everyone here as these two fall in love and loyalties will be shaken to the core from the fall out of Caro’s secret. Can Gavin forgive everyone for their deceptions? I have voluntarily read and reviewed the excellent story of Gavin and Caro story is an ending to the Winter’s series and a new Sutton series to come.
Series: The Wicked Winters #13 Rating: 3 stars - I liked it
When Caro Sutton finds an unconscious and bleeding man outside her family’s gaming hell, she doesn’t realize that the man is bare knuckle champion Gavin Winter, one of her family's enemies. Unfortunately Gavin can’t remember what happened to him or even who he is.
The last Winter brother finally falls in love! I really enjoyed Gavin and Caro’s story. Gavin has amnesia and is nursed back to help by Caro. The attraction between these two was instant and I loved all the pining they did. Caro was a wonderful, kind hearted, and very smart heroine. I adored her. Gavin was protective and quick to anger but also very sweet towards Caro. I was a little disappointed that we never got to see him actually in a boxing match but I still loved their story.
Overall, this was a nice, low angst, historical romance with a healer falling for her patient. I am sad that this is the last Winter novel but excited to read the new series with the Sutton siblings.
Who doesn't love an amnesia story? When Caro Sutton discovers a terribly beaten man on her back doorstep she brings him in to her family's gaming club to tend his wounds.
When the facial swelling subsides she recognises him as Gavin Winter, a prize fighter and one of the well-known Winter family whose gaming establishment is in direct opposition to the Sutton's. Their families are adversaries and only a tenuous truce keeps the peace.
When Gavin regains consciousness he has no idea who he is. Caro's eldest brother swears her to secrecy and so she treats Gavin's wounds without letting him know his identity.
The patient and healer form a bond quickly and as Gavin's health recovers they fall deeply in love.
The inevitable eventually occurs when Gavin's identity is revealed with all the ensuing emotional turmoil that causes.
It was almost an insta-love situation, but I could accept it given the storyline. There is a fair bit of melodrama in the second part of the book, but all in all I did enjoy Winter's Warrior as a light and easy read.
This is the final book in the Winter Series and can be read as a standalone, which I did but now feel that I have to go back to the beginning to find out what started the feud between the Sutton and the Winters.
Gavin Winter, a prize fighter is found beaten to near death in the back alley of the Sutton's gaming hell.
Caro Sutton, a healer, rescues Gavin and nurses him back to health, but when he awakes he has no memory and Caro is on strict orders not to reveal who he is.
Torn between her love for Gavin and loyalty to her brother, Caro faces a difficult choice. What will happen when he regains his memory? Will he be able to forgive her?
A healer and a prize-fighter should not work. But they each complement each other beautifully and I loved this story.
There are plenty of twists and turns and I can't wait to read Jasper's story in follow up series of The Sinful Suttons.
I received an ARC copy of this story and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Scarlett Scott has done it again. She has written a beautiful Winter love story. Gavin Winter was the last Winter to fall in love and with not even knowing his name at the time. Losing his memory after being brutally beaten, an angel is there to rescue him. Little did he know it was Caroline Sutton of the rival family to the Winters. As Caro nurses Gavin back to health, they fall in love. But she is keeping a secret from him that could destroy it all. Will her deception keep them apart forever or can they find their way back to each other? Someone is out to hurt Gavin and the Winters have to find out who it is before it’s too late. This story has romance, and suspense and a preview of Jasper and Octavia’s story in the author’s next series called the Sinful Suttons. I was sad to see the Winter series end but am so looking forward to the Suttons. I received an ARC of this book and is my honest review.
Like I have said previously, I Love the Winter’s stories. This is a stand-alone book, you do not really have to read any of the other books, but again I think you should read them all – they are all great. This book is about Gavin Winter, who is one of the best prizefighters around and Caro Sutton who is known as a healer. One night Caro found Gavin unconscious and brought him home to heal him. Gavin lost his memory; he did not know who he was or where he was. Caro knew who Gavin was and their families were not friends. Caro did not tell Gavin who he was, which will cause problems between them. This is the story about them finding each other and falling in love. Gavin and Caro were great together and their story is wonderful. This is the last book in this series, and I will tell you, I will miss the Winter Family, each family member has a special spot in my heart. I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion.
Those Wicked Winters are delicious, which has made this one of my favorite series of all time! I didn’t think that I would love Gavin Winters as much as the others but he was amazing and his relationship with Caro is off the charts! The Suttons and the Winters have been bitter rivals for years, but when Caro Sutton finds a nearly dead Gavin outside her brothers’ gaming hell she has no idea who he is. She has him brought to her room and begins to patch up his wounds, and take care of him. When he awakens, he has no memory, but he sees her as an angel. Her brother will not allow her to tell him who he really is, and she is torn with guilt as she and Gavin fall more and more in love with each other. We see a whole different side to Gavin. We see such tenderness and care coming from this former street rat and ruthless Pugilist. Page after page, this story is a delight. Although I hate saying goodbye to the wonderful Winters, i can’t wait to get to know all of the Suttons!!
Caro Sutton rescues a man from outside her family’s gaming hell and nurses him back to health. Gavin has no idea who he is. All he knows, is that he’s drawn the angel who helps him. But how can he be with her when he doesn’t even know who he is? Caro knows exactly who Gavin is, and she knows his family and hers are not on good terms. Worse, her eldest brother has decreed that she must keep Gavin’s identity a secret, even from Gavin himself.
I picked this up when it was free. It is book 13 in a series I haven’t previously read. Although, it does stand alone, I was slightly lost by a few things (probably to be expected when I haven’t read the previous 12 books), and I wasn’t quite sure what the set up was in these books and what was going on. Both Caro and Gavin have an awful lot of siblings, which I did find a bit overwhelming and confusing
It was a decent enough story, but I couldn’t quite get into it. I’m not sure if starting from the beginning would have helped.
