When Thea goes looking for answers about herself after going through a really hard period in her life, she ends up being found by her fate instead.
Thea & Kieran's fast burning love story makes this book a good choice for any hopeless romantic with an appreciation for elemental magic and a fight against good and evil. ❤️
I enjoyed this fun read and I was left looking forward to seeing what is in store for Thea and the land of Faerie in the next book.

Purely for entertainment value, I enjoyed reading through this book. There are themes of soul mates, sisterly love and forgiveness, found family, and blood ties, among many others. There is constant action or light romance, so the book reads pretty quickly and doesn’t give a chance to get boring.
Thea is a young woman who seems drawn to her destiny, which is to become the queen of a Faerie Kingdom. I was a little confused because her father, even though he is an evil tyrant who wants to wipe out humans, seems to be the rightful king and has been for quite a while. The book made it sound like he was an imposter and the throne was Thea’s, but I think the majority of humans and fae just wanted the heir to take over.
The legends were my favorite part of the book for sure. It is based loosely on the celtic legend around Aine and Morrigan. I went a bit down the rabbit hole trying to link them in mythology as more than a potential aspect, but – as I said, at face value, the book is quite entertaining.
I think soulmates and fate are interesting concepts. Sometimes they translate as insta-love. Not my most favorite trope but there was a good bit of soul searching involving Kieran and Thea around old traditions that might prohibit a relationship. I think I would have had an easier time believing their love if it wasn’t quite so instant, but I have read enough fated bond books to put it aside and say “ok so they fell in love in two weeks.”
Overall though the storyline was pretty well thought out, entertaining, and fast-paced. Some of the cruelties inflicted by the king, Thea’s father, really made my blood boil. The sisterly forgiveness and redemption themes are strong and good. The relationships between the various orphans and their protectors carried the book a long ways for me as well. Like best side characters ever. Plus did I mention a unicorn?
If I was rating purely for entertainment I would give it 5, and will definitely check out book 2 to see what that sneaky Morrigan is up to.

I loved 'Wings of Fate'!
(This review contains mild spoilers.)
I fell in love with the world of Faerie, adored the romance between Thea and Kieran, and truly enjoyed Skye's fresh approach to her main character entering a new world and learning how to live, survive and thrive in it. Having read the heart-rending prequel 'Wings of Betrayal', I might have been a tiny bit biased, but I was so, so excited to meet Kieran, and he absolutely did not disappoint!
Some specifics that I need to mention:
1) I need more Amara in my life and I am so excited to find out more about her.
2) I appreciated how Thea's sense of morality is not at all black or white, and really enjoyed reading about her process of forgiveness concerning some of the other characters.
3) The way Kieran is torn between his duty and feelings for Thea hurt my heart, and with the best will in the world I hope Book 2 will continue to hurt it even more!

What a fun read! It definitely fits into the YA genre!
It has everything you’d want from a YA fantasy. Magic, star-crossed romance, dark powers, evil villains, unicorns, and faeries.
Kieren hangs back and lets her do her thing, which I enjoyed.
I loved the “Oh Goddess” instead of the “Oh goodness”.
I almost wish the prologue was the murder of the two parents so the reader had more context as opposed to having it be explained.
The book picked up when the sister, Amara, came into play the second time. I loved the action there.
There was a cool battle scene that was enjoyable!

One thing that I was confused about was why Thea was upset that Kieren went to other kingdoms to help... that would make me love someone more! Such a selfless act.
Also, the distance between the village and the castle wasn’t clear. It took a day and a half to get there, but didn’t for specific scenes.
All in all, can’t wait for book 2!

If you like romance, you will likely enjoy this book. The romance between the main characters was at the forefront through most of the book. Romance isn’t my favorite genre, so I had trouble getting into the book.

This was such a nostalgic read! I wish I could go back in time when I was at the age of faeries and magic because I feel like I had a disadvantage reading it as an adult. That being said this is the perfect book for young readers like past me because I would have devoured it with inspiration to write my own magic.
Okay, poetic rambling aside, I enjoyed it and am going to do my best to write a review without spoilers.
I love reading stories where faeries, unicorns, and magic exist. Thea was a little rocky to root for in the beginning, not because she was a bad character but because I feel like I didn’t know her that well. I think I would have liked to see interactions with her parents and boyfriend before she discovers she’s a lost princess. However once I did get to know her, she was awesome at the end.
I think she was pretty stupid at two parts, but hey we’ve all done rash things like that when we were teens. I was a little confused in the beginning as “fifteen years ago” kept being stressed when I swore she was eighteen. I really appreciated that she struggled with her training and it didn’t come natural; that made her character really believable.
Minor spoiler: I wasn’t completely sold on the chemistry between her and Kieran, feeling it was just there and didn’t really develop. However I did enjoy his character, always loving the protector/ guardian/soldier role in books.
Overall, great story and I want to learn what happens next in the series!

Skye Horn’s Wings of Fate was a wild fantasy ride start to finish!
We follow Thea, just as she arrives in Ireland in the hopes of discovering the truth behind her adoption. From the get-go, Thea is plunged into a magical world of Fae, mythical creatures and warring Goddesses. Into her world comes Kieran, her handsome winged protector.
While we follow Thea’s journey to discover her heritage, the sense of threat was present from the start. The Kingdom of the Faerie was intriguing and I’m excited to learn more about the world in the following books. The romance between Kieran and Thea was something I particularly enjoyed, especially from around the middle of the book – when some of my earlier questions were answered and the stakes became higher. Horn’s effortless ability to flick between Thea’s and Kieran’s POV was done exceptionally well.
Overall, I really enjoyed Wings of Fate and it immediately grabbed me with the strong opening. The story itself was well-crafted, heartwarming, exciting and – in some places – surprisingly dark, leaving me exceptionally eager to read the next books in the series.

I am incredibly impressed with Wings of Fate. It has been quite sometime where I have read a book and had trouble putting it down. The author did an amazing job describing the settings and characters. I found myself transplanted into the story, could envision everything that was described. I look forward to reading the next book.

Full disclaimer, I have come to the realization that the romance genre is not my usual cup of tea. My opinions on the genre are completely subjective and are not meant to offend anyone who enjoys these types of books. With that said, in my opinion, “Wings of Fate” is outside my personal preferences as a reader.
On a technical level, “Wings of Fate” is a gorgeous book. The cover art is great, the formatting is inspirational, and the story flow is on a very professional level. Skye Horn is an excellent writer and it shows in the descriptions, dialogue, and alliterations. She has done a remarkable job creating a fun, whimsical fantasy setting in the land of Faerie. Thea is the perfect fish-out-of-water character to lead the reader into this world and seeing her progression throughout the story was very satisfying. You get a real sense of the caste system between humans and Faeries while simultaneously being introduced to mythical creatures. There’s some deep lore that gets hinted at in the novel but Skye leaves enough open for further development in the sequels.
On a personal level, though I like the fantasy aspects of the book, I did not connect with the romance parts. I think this book really needed a prologue chapter to gradually introduce the main story and world of Faerie. Thea is thrust into the action within the first chapter, which--while bold--feels too sudden. We never get to see Thea’s day-to-day life back in the real world, so it’s difficult to be invested when things are referenced from her old life. I also did not connect with the romance between her and Kieran. I felt like there was no real build up to it, which meant that there was no tension of “will they get together?” Never once did I doubt that they would get together. Kieran came across as one-dimensional because his sole agency in the book was “protect Thea”, which becomes rather repetitive after the midway point.
“Wings of Fate” was a solid read that was outside my comfort zone but there were some things that did not appeal to my personal tastes as a reader. That is not to take away from the fact that this is a competently written book and the gateway into a epic fantasy series.

This book was absolutely amazing. I fell in love with the characters and loved the fact that they defining characteristics. There were multiple plot twists that I didn't see coming and that added to the thrill of reading. It seemed as though I was in their magical world as well. Kieran is !u favorite though because he has so many defining traits and he's a warrior, you can't beat that! Overall a fantastic book, would definitely recommend.

This was a very captivating debut novel, and the start to the Kingdoms of Faerie series. Thea, though a little lost to her memories of a past she left behind, does not falter as she soaks in all there is to learn about her true history and what fate has in store for her.
Though life often gets in the way of truly diving headfirst into a novel (children will do that to you), the pull to finish this book was fierce. The romantic tension between characters is almost immediate, adding intrigue to the idea of class wars, magical might, and the concept of fate versus tradition that Thea struggles to come to terms with.
The only complaint I had with the book is that I had a hard time connecting with things in Thea's past. She laments an old flame, but we're not given enough of a glimpse into that life or that person to understand her feelings when they come to a head. It simply made the emotion of a scene early on hard to truly feel as a reader. But that isn't to say that the rest of the book is without its rhythm - I was a brokenhearted mess come the end of the novel.
The book ends on enough of a cliffhanger that it's a slight torture to wait until the next is released. But as far as fantasy YA goes, this was definitely well worth the read.

Is this love? I think I’m in love. Yup, I’m definitely in love with these two. Okay, let me gush for a second about Thea and Kieran. These two captured my heart so quickly! Kieran is so lovable and protective. He walks the very delicate line of being a respectful guardian and soldier, but also Thea’s love interest. They have incredible chemistry and I can’t wait to read more!!!! I need to know what happens! As this is the first book in the Kingdoms of Faerie series, I felt like the story was set up really well. We’ve got our high stakes, we’ve got magical powers, we’ve got a conniving stepsister, a sexy soulmate, and an evil father. Along with some serious sibling rivalry between Ainé and Morrigan. Whew! Plus, there are secrets upon secrets that everyone seems to be hiding. I loved it! This was such a fun read. Definitely recommend!

Exciting and Refreshing Fantasy Tale
Skye does an amazing job of painting a vivid world, lifelike characters, and a unique and thrilling tale!
If you like the sweeping worlds of Lord of The Rings and Wheel of Time with the fast pace of modern fantasy, then you’ll love Wings of Fate.
I recommend this book and am so excited that the author is already working on the next books in the series!!!

When Thea goes searching for answers about her parents, she discovers much more than she ever thought she would: fairies, magic, friends, enemies, and her one true love. Wings of Fate is a fast paced, epic romantic adventure into a land of magic.
Thea makes a fantastic protagonist. As she discovers the world of magic and her role within it, so do we. Her backstory drew me in, and I found myself wanting to find out more as Thea uncovers secrets about her past and future. I thoroughly enjoyed following along with her journey.
I also loved the legends of this book, the stories of Morrigan and Aine wound beautifully into Thea’s struggle and discovery of her identity. And I love any book with awesome boss sisters (even if one of them is a touch evil).
I wasn’t totally convinced about the love between Kieran and Thea to begin with, it all felt quite fast and sudden, but then as the story went on I realised that it suited these two impulsive, fiery heroes well.
I thoroughly enjoyed Horn’s writing style. Her descriptions are vivid and the dialogue feels realistic, it’s hard not to enjoy reading this book. This is especially true when things start to go wrong or get dark–trust me, you won’t be able to put down this book in those moments!

Wow! There was so much amazing plot and character development throughout this novel. Each chapter had its own action, a secret revealed, a magical ability improved, or a relationship evolving in the best way. I loved how Horn incorporated Irish mythology and magical elements into her world beyond the Threshold! I also really liked Thea's character development, her emotions, and her passion for family, friendship, and love. Once the action really got going, I couldn't put the book down! Not to mention whenever Kieran and Thea kept getting closer and closer, my heart beat increased. Horn did such a fantastic job of showing their uncontrolled passion and their passion for one another without it being cringy, something that is tricky to write.
If I were to say there's anything that I'd nitpick, I'd say that it sometimes felt as if things were moving quickly to get to the next item. Sometimes I wanted to slow down and see more conversation. Thea was obviously in a state where she was being hunted and on the run, panicking in her preparation to face King Malachi and the Goddess of Death. But while I wish she had gotten her quiet moments to simply enjoy the beauty of the realm.
Overall, I'm so glad I read this book and now I can't wait to read Book 2, Wings of Deception, and learn how she takes on her new role in the kingdom of Ivandor.

I enjoyed Wings of Fate. My interest in Thea and her story began in the first pages of the book and the story kept me turning pages. There’s fae, soulmates and romance, good vs. evil, goddesses, family issues, and fantastic fantasy folk like trolls, centaurs, and my favorite—Faylon the unicorn. I did feel like some things happened a little fast… like Thea accepting she’s meant to be a princess/queen, and Kieran and Thea’s romance. (In the case of the latter, I’m guessing it was because they’re supposed to be soulmates, so eh. I’ll let it slide. ;)) I’m looking forward to seeing what’s ahead in the next book!

This book starts the excitement from page 1 and doesn’t stop until the end. By the time you take a break, you are halfway through! If you are looking for a new pair of destined lovers to take up root in your heart, then this is for you!

Wings of Fate is the first book of the Kingdoms of Faerie series. The lead character is Thea, a young woman who discovers, upon the death of her adopted parents, that she is really a Princess from the Kingdoms of Faerie. She is pulled into the realm by Kieran, a winged Faerie who serves as her love interest. Soon she finds herself embroiled in an epic conflict for the future of the kingdoms. Along the way, she faces danger and deception, finds a love that she may or may not lose, and discovers her own magical powers.
While many of the elements are familiar tropes, the storytelling is fluid and engaging, and never feels "ordinary." Horn delivers on suspense as well as romance. I particularly liked the scenes with Thea's training which are surprisingly detailed and convincing.
If there was one thing that was mildly disappointing, it was a segment dealing with the fate of Thea's old flame. The story is fine, but the character is only a "behind the scenes" presence until the crucial moment, the result being that we never really share the emotion that Thea feels.
Overall this a very enjoyable fantasy, and a superb start to a very promising series.

Wings of Fate is a compelling fantasy rich with interesting characters, breathtaking landscapes, and, of course, magic.
But more than that, Thea is a compelling lead character. And without giving too much away, this book takes us on her journey as she tries to unravel the mystery behind her upbringing. And along the way, we get to meet an interesting cast of characters bent on either helping Thea, or destroying her.
Wings of Fate is a new, refreshing take on the fantasy genre... and all the magic that can flow from someone figuring out where they come from... and then going on a journey to fulfill their destiny.
I finished book one over the course of a handful of all-night reading sessions - simply couldn't put it down. Can't wait for Book 2!

Wings Of Fate was another title with romantic elements (it seems this is my year for romantic fantasy titles). This book deals with a lost Faerie princess Thea who finds out about her past after the death of her adopted parents. The story is of the YA level and this was the one factor that perhaps didn’t lead me to enjoy it as much. There’s also a strong romantic element and that’s nicely offset with comedy and action which make the story a lively read.
Overall this story was a fun story. The author certainly knows how to write an engaging story and makes it quite fast paced. There was never a dull moment and even though it was very predictable. I can very well see it score solidly among a YA crowd.

I really enjoyed this novel, since I was hooked in on the first pages by the action and the beautiful prose. I did feel like things went quite quickly in the beginning, especially the romance. The chemistry didn’t seem super believable to me at first, but it grew on me as the book went on and by the end I admit that the chemistry between the characters was undeniable! My favourite thing about this book was undoubtedly the Irish folklore/myth influence. I’ve never read anything based on this kind of mythology before and so it was a fun and unique experience. Overall, I thought this was a solid fantasy read that fans of fairies and romance will enjoy!

A great read that jumps right into the story.
The world pulls you in from the beginning. I appreciate it when the history of the world and what it holds are explained. Sometimes things were a little convenient for my taste, but it all works out.
There were a few twists in the story. One I nailed right on the head. Another turned out a little differently than what I thought was going to happen. However, there was one that I did not see coming at all. I just pictured it as a movie scene as I read it.
I’m glad to hear that it is part of a series. The next book will be worth reading as well.

Thea thinks she is a normal teenage girl, but the reality couldn’t be further than the truth. Grieving the loss of her parents and questioning her future, Thea travels to Ireland but finds herself thrust into the Kingdom of Faerie where she must make friends, battle evil, and discover her destiny. Thea starts off feeling lost but grows into her power and embraces who she is. Her desire for justice for the oppressed is laudable.
I liked the author's take on Faerie and the creatures that make up its citizenry.

This is an excellent story to read for fans of fantasy, and an excellent start to a new series. I can't wait to read the next book!
It has everything a good fantasy story needs, the battle between good and evil, magic, action, love and even some twists thrown in here and there. Definitely a page turner. The author does a spectacular job painting a picture of the new world for the audience. It was very easy to get lost in the book.
I would highly recommend this book to any person who's a fan of fantasy, or just wants to get lost in a really good story.

Wings of Fate, is for both fantasy lovers and those ready to dip their toes in the genre. The world of the protagonist, Thea, quickly changes as she goes out to find more information on her past. Readers get instant access to the Kingdom of Faerie where fae are fierce, complicated, magical creatures with hot-blooded and passionate emotions. There is war, romance, and small descriptive moments that make readers feel like they belong in Thea's fantastical world, too.

I loved this book! I read it in all of two days, I just couldn't put it down.
It is a beautiful fantasy romance set in the world of the fae, with a relatable and strong heroine and a sexy but sensitive hero! The book launches straight into the action which I love and the world is so rich and beautifully described that it completely captured my imagination. I love a lost royalty story and this one did not disappoint, but most of all I loved the romance of it; I am an absolute sucker for romance and this one gave me all the feels. I'm buying the next book as we speak.

Exciting read!
What a great first book in the series. Intriguing fantasy world with plenty of opportunity for further world building in future books. The danger to the main characters and the four kingdoms helped turn the last half of the book into an unputdownable read. I also liked the inclusion of a bunch of mythical creatures throughout the story! I’m interested in seeing what happens next.
