From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Laurelin Paige comes a new story in her Man In Charge series…

Brett Sebastian is the very best kind of friend.

Who else would get me a job at one of the biggest corporations in America?

And hook me up with his uber-rich cousin to boot?

And let me cry on his shoulder every time said cousin blows me off?

Okay, it’s pretty obvious that Brett cares about me in a different way than I do for him, but he seems fine with how things are, and our friendship works.

Until one fateful night when I'm mooning over his cousin, and Brett utters four words that should make me happy for him, should make me relieved, should balance out our uneven relationship:

“I met a girl.”

Suddenly my world is crashing down around me, and I’m forced to ask myself—am I only interested in Brett now that he’s taken?

Or have I been looking at the wrong man all along?

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

-Hands down, he was the hottest man I knew. Even after years of knowing him, I wasn't immune to his looks.

-After a night with Brett Sebastian, I was sure of one thing- every other man paled in comparison.

-You are my favorite person in the world.

Man For Me was a complete joy to read. I had read the Man In Charge Duet prior to reading this novella, but if you haven't, you will not have missed out on anything. Man For Me can be read as a complete standalone. If you enjoy friends-to-lovers romances, love stories that pull at your heartstrings, steamy off-the-charts chemistry with a side of angst, then Man For Me is for you! Brett and Eden's story flowed flawlessly from beginning to end, carrying you along on their emotional journey of self-discovery and love. It was a quick, captivating read that left my heart smiling. Treat yourself and grab this one!

Brett Sebastian and Eden Waters are best friends and Brett got her the job working with the Sebastian. He has always had Eden been there for her a shoulder to cry always when the butthole of a guy she mooning over dumps her...including when Brett's cousin, Scott, breaks her heart once again. However the night when she realizes that she nothing to Scott Sebastian and Brett tells her he met someone Eden quickly looks at Brett differently. Will Brett take Eden serious when all of a sudden her focus changes to him or will Eden be another door mat for another guy.?

My body rolled toward him like he was true north. His arms wrapped around me like I was his.

I did not think that Laurelin could've topped all that she delivered in her co-written novella, Summer Lovin'. That story was so adorable I still think about it to this day, and I truly thought that that was going to be her best (and my favourite) release of 2021. But then I devoured Man for Me... and I cannot see any of her future releases topping all that she delivered here in this romance.

I waited almost a year for this story to show up on my Kindle and believe me when I say that the wait, as torturous as it was, was well and truly worth it. From the moment the blurb was released I knew this story would be a favourite read for me, and it was. But I didn't realise how favourite of a read it would be until I was two chapters in and really got to better meet and know Brett Sebastian and Eden Waters - two characters with minimal but impactful roles in the Man in Charge Duet (a duet you do not have to read to enjoy this story, but it's a bonus nevertheless), and they're two characters who's intense and unignorable chemistry together made this read an unforgettable one.

Eden and Brett have been best friends for the last ten years, having met when both were the maid of honour and best man at Eden's sister's wedding. They got close as they prepared for the big day, and they got even closer once the wedding was over. But despite the sexual chemistry that is ever constant between them, neither dared to cross that line that'd turn them from friends to lovers.

Until now.

Now... that Eden is (finally) done chasing after Brett's heartbreaker of a cousin, Scott.
And now... that Brett has met another woman.

...he deserved a woman to make him happy.
If I kept saying it to myself, maybe this unexplainable panic would go away.

I loved this story. Loved it, loved it, LOVED IT!!

Man for Me is, without a doubt, the best friends-to-lovers romance that I have ever read in my life. Everything I love to see in a book of this genre - undeniable chemistry between the characters, communication between them too; a light enough plot to not be too angsty (but there's still enough angst in there to break my heart a little bit), and a good transition from friends to lovers where the fear and hesitation and confusion of doing so are all shown, and in the best way possible - was delivered here perfectly. And Laurelin just played this story out so beautifully I never wanted it to end, so much so that I was truly tempted to reread this novella as soon as I finished reading it, because I could not get enough of Eden "Edie" Waters and Brett "far from Lesser" Sebastian.

I didn't think I'd love Eden as much as I did, but she was so relatable of a character, I couldn't help but love her, and root for her, and want to be her best friend. Plus, she's not your typical friends-to-lovers heroine either, which was surprisingly refreshing. She's flawed (though, aren't we all?), selfish when it comes to Brett (and girl, after that second chapter? I do not blame you one bit); broken (which broke me a li- a lot), and self-conscious enough that she didn't seem like the same Eden we knew in Man in Charge. And even though she had me laughing out loud with her humour, and smiling big with her jealousy, she also broke my heart with her vulnerability whenever she felt as though she wasn't worthy of a man like Brett, when I knew that that was very far from the truth.

And Brett... Oh, Jesus H. Christ, now he is a man in charge. Scott who? I'm laughing at myself for thinking Brett was nothing more than the loving Sebastian who cares for others, is kind and gentle and wouldn't hurt a fly. Well, he is that Sebastian - who also isn't your typical friends-to-lovers hero either - but he was also a man who was so much more; he was a man who was all man, who thought rationally, and who loved hard and fucked harder. And the smile he brought to my face with his jealousy? Was just as big as the smile Eden brought to my face with hers.

"You know," I said, "with all these titles you Sebastians have, there's only one that matters, and you're the only one who holds it."
"What's that?" he asked.
"Man for me."

As individuals, Eden and Brett were outstanding, but as a couple? They were superior. As a couple they showed that they didn't just have chemistry, they invented it. And I'm still feeling the sweetness of their friendship and the heat of their love days after finishing their story.

And so, if you love a grippingly seductive and captivating friends-to-lovers romance, then you NEED to read Man for Me. It's fast-paced and a short enough read that you'll fly through it in one sitting, and the writing was so beautiful I would be swept away by the many sigh-worthy quotes that stuck with me even after I'd turned the page. And the story itself was told out so surprisingly - completely over the course of the Man in Charge Duet - that I know I won't be able to reread Man in Charge and Man in Love without thinking about what was going on behind the scenes with Eden and Brett.

Overall, Man for Me is a Six Star read for me. I truly cannot recommend it highly enough, and I am now so excited to see what it is Laurelin delivers next when it comes to the Sebastian family, especially after that last chapter where we got to meet a certain Sebastian who's really left a bit of an impact on me - I'm looking at you, Holt... you moody bastard.

While Man For Me definitely isn’t perfect, it’s still my favorite out of all the 1001 Dark Nights novellas that I’ve read so far; because I felt like it had an actual plot, and the character development was pretty was good, in my opinion. With the other 1001 Dark Nights novellas that I’ve read so far, the authors focused primarily on the love scenes, but Laurelin Paige did a really good job of developing the characters and their romantic relationship in Man For Me. It was definitely a fun, quick read! :)

My rating/score: 4 out of 5 stars on Goodreads' rating system / 8 out of 10 on my own personal scoring system.

I really liked this. No denying that Laurelin Paige can write one hell of a steamy scene!

However, I think for the growth that Eden needed to go through, this needed to be a longer novella. For too much of the book Eden depended on others to give her value. While I did believe that she finally got to the point where she believed in her self-worth, I needed more of the journey to trust that her confidence would stick.

The bones of this story is everything I love about the friends to lovers trope, but I needed a little bit more meat on these bones . . . if I got that, this would have easily been a 4 star read.

For the last 10 years Brett and Eden have been best friends. He is always there for Eden when things go south with the guys she is currently dating. A shoulder to cry on, or a hug when needed. All the while, Brett has had feelings for her that go beyond friendship. He always wonders why she never chooses him. Not that he makes it known how he feels about her. What he never knew was she feels she doesn’t deserve a man like him. Eden felt Brett was too good for her. But as the years have gone by Brett has shown her that she is worth it. It has taken her time to realize this but now she feels its too late. Someone has caught Brett’s attention and Eden thinks she has lost her chance. Brett thinks Eden is only interested because someone has his attention.
They may be best friends but somehow have left out some serious information with each other. Their true feelings. Her insecurities and his affection for her that is more than friendship. Maybe if they were honest with each other all along Brett things could be different.
Eden now has to prove to him her feelings are genuine and strong. He is the man she wants. She will give him anything to show him he is the one. Even time. She will wait for him however long it takes. It has taken her years to realize she is worth Brett’s affections and Brett is the man for her. Eden has to learn to fight for Brett and he has to learn to trust her feelings for him. Once they do, they will have their HEA and forever love.

I really enjoyed this novella...it's got a lot of depth for a shorter story, and it was interesting to see some of the characters from the Man in Charge duet in a different light, such as how they are seen by the supporting characters in that series.

Brett and Eden have been friends for years, and have both been in love with one another...for years. Although, for the majority of that time, only one of them has known how they felt and the other, for reasons that are explored in the story, have not. there was something both so relateable and so sad in their story ARC, not that it ends badly, but the idea of missing something you didn't even know you were missing until it might be too late to fix your mistake.

I loved so much about the journeys of both of these characters. You like both of them, you feel for them, and you really want to see how they work things out.

I enjoyed and recommend this title. It can be read as a standalone, but there are definite perks to having read the first 2 books before reading this one.

This novella is perfect!

Sexy, super steamy, dirty and nasty really, but also sweet and deep in the short lenght of novella, i love it!

We've meet both Brett and Eden in Man in Charge, Scott and Tess's story. Brett being "the lesser Sebastian" and Eden being the "play thing" for Scott.

I love how Brett and Eden story flow. From their friendship, to Eden finally fight for him and to Brett finally trust her her.

Fast pace with no pages left to waste, this novella is a one sitting satisfaction massive O !!!

Not just because Brett has serious massive D or his huge "appetite" with his nasty dirty skill in the bedroom... But also because of this lenghty novella manage to make me lust, cried, and think deeper for Eden is me situation, then fall in love to the idea making mistakes with bad boys is ok, but falling in love with a good man is the best way.

Man for Me is a story about best friends, Brett and Eden. They've been friends for ten years, always there for each other but never crossing the friend line, no matter how much Brett wished it would happen. He never shared his feelings with Eden. Then one day, after a few drinks, lines get crossed and the chemistry is through the roof, leaving Eden to rethink things. Has her forever man been in front of her all of these years, or was it just one hot night.

Man for Me is a novella I couldn't put down. I was sad when I turned the last page. I hope to see more stories about the Sebastian family in the future from Laurelin Paige.

I always find it a bit weird when a book character I didn’t particularly like returns in a follow up book and I find that I like them. Laurelin Paige took Celia, the baddest bitch of all, and made me like her so what could she do with Eden aka Scott Sebastian’s rooftop toy?

I liked her! I have to say though, that I liked Brett Sebastian even more.

Brett was not your typical book boyfriend. Sure he’s handsome and hung like the proverbial donkey but he’s got a really sensitive side. He is fixed on Eden but he’s too often felt like the rejected lesser Sebastian; he’s too guarded to just allow her to waltz into his love life and walk away with his heart.

Eden isn’t the fierce creature that got fingerbanged on the roof. The fingerbanging happened but the fierceness isn’t there. She’s actually sweet and has confidence issues.

Brett and Eden are lovely together. Fabulous little novella.

NB You don’t need to read the Man In Charge books to enjoy this novella but Scott and Tess are hawt, and there is said fingerbanging incident.

Man For Me is one of the hottest and sexiest novellas I’ve ever read! I needed a cold shower after finishing it and who knew Brett Sebastian could be so naughty and filthy. And spoiler alert, he’s well endowed (lucky Eden). This best friends to lovers romance had me panting throughout and I devoured every single word. Eden was determined to get her man and I absolutely adored her flirty antics and heavy pursuit of Brett. It was a nice and fresh change to see a woman wooing a man. If you’re looking for a panty melting fix with a quick storyline that gives you the depth, then Man For Me is definitely the novella for you.

Brett definitely needed his story after Man in Charge, I really felt for him as the under dog, or the lesser Sebastian as he refers himself.

This was a good olde angst read of love realised maybe a tad too late, but a love worth proving and fighting for, and that exactly what Eden does.

Loved this book it’s fit in nicely if you’ve read Man in Charge, but can easily be read as a stand-alone.

We also meet another of the Sebastian hierarchy, Holt, now he seems like an interesting character, I need his book 😏

MAN FOR ME by Laurelin Paige is a contemporary, adult, erotic, romance novella found in the author’s MAN IN CHARGE duet, and the latest instalment in the multi-authored 1001 DARK NIGHTS series. This is businessman Brett Sebastian, and PA Eden Waters storyline.

NOTE: The events of MAN FOR ME cross over with, and run parallel to some of the events in the author’s Man in Charge / Man in Love.

Told from first person perspective (Eden Waters) MAN FOR ME follows the best friends to lovers relationship between businessman Brett Sebastian, and PA Eden Waters. For ten years, Brett has watched from the sidelines as his best friend, and the woman he loves, has bounced from man to man including his cousin Scott Sebastian (Man in Charge) but when Eden is finally ready to walk away from Scott, Brett isn’t sure if he is ready or willing to pick up the pieces of Eden’s broken heart. Not wanting to destroy ten years of friendship, Brett pushes Eden to reconsider her choices, including her belief they are meant to be together. What ensues is the building but heart breaking sexual relationship between Brett and Eden, and the potential fall-out as all of Eden’s attempts are brushed aside by our story line hero.

The relationship between Eden and Brett is a best friends to lovers that struggles in the belief of unrequited attraction. Brett has waited ten years for Eden to notice, having watched as Eden fell for their boss and Brett’s cousin Scott Sebastian but Scott’s treatment of Eden was less than magnanimous, and in this, Eden’s need for Brett felt more like a rebound affair than ever lasting love. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word, although only used once, more for shock value.

The secondary and supporting characters including the return of Brett’s cousin Scott Sebastian, and PA Tessa Turani (Man in Charge). We are introduced to Eden’s sister Avery, and her husband Nolan, as well as several members of the large extended Sebastian family including another cousin Holt.

MAN FOR ME is a story of family, friendships, relationships, trust and love. The premise is impassioned and entertaining; the romance is seductive and passionate; the characters are charismatic and energetic.

Our heroine Eden decided that she was tired of wasting her time on men that weren’t worthy of her time. She refused to spend one more minute swooning over her boss, Scott Sebastion who treated her like one of his harem. She questioned her sanity as to why she even gave him the time of day when there was another Sebastian that was actually perfect for her; his cousin Brett. They had been best friends for ten years and she valued their friendship above all else. Eden naturally had naughty dreams about Brett but she never acted on her desires. Brett was handsome and sexy in an unassuming way and he was always there for her. After all these years Eden finally realized that Brett was the man she wanted but she wasn’t sure how to approach him. Should she throw herself at him, discuss it rationally or kiss him senselessly? She was afraid that it may be too late and that Brett may have someone new in his life. I felt Eden’s pain as she imagined a life without Brett in it. Her worst nightmare was seeing another woman laughing at his jokes while gazing longingly into his eyes. Eden knew she needed to find a way to show Brett that they were meant to be together before it was too late.

Overall: 3.5/5
Spice level: 3/5
Trope: Friends to lovers

So, I mostly enjoyed this novella spin off. I would recommend it if you liked the original story.

My concerns were that the first spicy scene was fade to black. That bothered me for more than one reason.

1. Paige doesn't do fade to black. She is known for the smut.

2. It was their first time having sex after being best friends for a decade. That experience should've been on the page.

I liked their chemistry and the storyline but there were moments the characters got on my nerves a bit. It was the back and forth. Let's. No let's not. And the fact that Brett got mad when she was upset he brushed her off and felt like Eden's feelings weren't real. How was she really supposed to he had been pining for her for years? He never made it known. He just let her vent about guy after guy without making it obvious he really wanted her.

I did really like their friendship and the flow of the story, albeit short since it's a novella.

Oh wow. I didnt expect this book. It might just be me and my emotions. But it really got to me. 1001 dark nights books dont normaly have me in tears. But this did. Such raw vulnerable emotions. Such insecure fine feelings so strong and big that you fear they will break you if you put them out there. That is what laurelin can do. And why she is my favorit auther in the hole world.

[2/5]

This is taken from the Man in Charge series, but can be read as a stand alone. (Featuring a different couple, though both characters were side characters in that series.) It does take place in the same timeframe as the series, so if you have read those books, you'll see some overlapping, but this is taken from a different POV. This is hot and steamy, as you may expect from this author. It features a man who has confidence yet, from a 'Lesser' branch of the family tree he feels he'll always come in second best. She is his best friend, but has had a lengthy crush on his cousin (who happens to be in the top level of that family tree,) and has attempted many times to cling onto that cousin, always getting pushed away. Unfortunately for him, she never see's him as more, though he's had feelings for her for a long time. This is a novella and a great way to get a feel for the author and her work. There are some angsty moments as the two figure out what they want and what they feel they deserve. It's a quick read and gets just deep enough into their character development to really know the characters and their behaviors. This is taken from her POV. It is suitable for mature readers due to the sexual content.

4.5 Star Review of Man For Me (Man in Charge Duet #2.5) by Laurelin Paige

Having read the previous books in the series I couldn’t wait to read Man For Me. Although a quick read, Laurelin Paige packed so much into the story that you cannot help but become invested in the story. This is Brett Sebastian and Eden Waters friends to lovers story which ticked a lot of boxes for me.
This book crosses over with the Man in Charge duet and to gain even more enjoyment from this book I would suggest you read the previous books, although it is not strictly necessary.
Brett and Eden have been best friends for years. Not only that but she works as his personal assistant. He has always been her rock, the one man she can turn to, no matter what. Eden is oblivious to the fact that Brett has feelings for her.
What happens when she realizes that the man of her dreams could well be the man who has always been there for her? Will Brett be prepared to put his heart on the line ? Will they risk their friendship for a chance at happiness?
One click and find out.

Man For Me
(Man in Charge Duet #2.5)
Written by: Laurelin Paige

There is something about the Sebastian men!

Every woman wants one and if you are lucky you might get yourself one. If you are Eden Waters you have two Sebastian men in your life, one that makes you feel terrible (but you still think you love him) and one who is the best of friends, who dries your tears when needed and who you realize one day is the one person you can count on.

I loved this side story of Brett and Eden, which takes place during the Man in Charge series. Brett, the lesser Sebastian, but still a Sebastian and the Sebastian Eden goes to when she needs a BFF. Can you really fall in love with the guy you have poured your heart out to about other guys who have done you wrong? Oh Eden….girl can we talk!

I was so happy when I saw that Brett and Eden were getting a novella. From late night hugs and you deserve better talks to striking a deal that your friendship will never change…to the man who she can’t stay away from; we get view of witty Eden. We see the shenanigans that go on between these two as well as the hot, steamy moments that only Laurelin Paige can write.

Like I said, every woman wants a Sebastian, but only the special ones actually catch one!

Ohh, I loved this novella about another Sebastian brother and the trip back into the Man in Charge universe. It’s a perfect bite-sized glimpse into Laurelin Paige’s writing if you’ve ever been curious about her and a little gem who – like me – love this world already.

MAN FOR ME is Eden and Brett’s story. They have been friends for a decade, and while he harbored feelings for Eden from the very start, Eden was completely, utterly oblivious to it, hurting him without even knowing whenever she came to him, pining, crying over his cousin who is also his boss – Scott Sebastian … It takes Brett meeting someone more substantial than before for Eden to finally wake up – abruptly.

Brett is one of Ms. Paige’s sweetest, nicest heroes, and handsome, attentive, caring to boot. And damn, does he have a surprisingly dirty mouth and mind!

This is a quick read with a big portion of steam and more depth and feels than most novellas.

I absolutely loved the Man in Charge Duet and that's where you first meet Brett and Eden. I knew I was in for a treat, and Laurelin Paige did not disappoint. You get the hottest filth and some major angst. Heartache and Joy. A sinfully delicious Friends to Lovers Romance.

After being best friends for years, Eden finally realizes that Brett is who she wants and loves, but he's been pining for her the whole time. Even though their chemistry is undeniable (and off the charts), Brett is now having doubts and Eden is desperate to make him see how perfect they are for each other.

This novella packs a punch and doesn't leave you feeling like you missed out on anything. Man for Me can be read as a standalone, but if you want the full experience, I definitely recommend reading Man in Charge first.
