Jilted by Azaaa Davis is a fantasy and paranormal romance that doesn’t take itself too serious. It is so fun and well-themed that it can really suck you in!

Administrative assistant by day and boss lady on social media by night, Theresa enjoys sharing her charmed life with half-million followers. The only thing she loves more is being engaged to the hottest doctor at the clinic where they both work. Unfortunately, life stops running smoothly when her husband vanishes on their wedding night and a leaked photo of a barely-dressed Theresa yelling at the police sparks a viral sensation. With everything at stake—love, reputation, followers, and career—she embarks on a reluctant voyage of discovery.

First, I read this book in a day. It’s short but engaging and that made it very easy to read.

I found this story cute. That’s the best way to describe it. Not in a bad way as some people would take that word, but in a sincere way! The plot of this first person narrative was super cute. It was the story of a woman whose life is torn apart by supernatural forces, but not in a stiff, super serious Fantasy way, but in an influencer losing their clout kind of way and how that would make you laugh. Davis does an excellent job with the plot because really, we should hate Theresa. She’s shallow, materialistic and uncaring, but this plot is so crazy, fun and smart that we do find ourselves rooting for her.

All the characters were well done. I didn’t like or dislike anyone more than anyone else, but I felt the characters were fleshed out well anyway. Davis really did a lot with Theresa, the main character and narrator but it was so fun and the narration was smart. When Theresa thought “I knew not to push my luck by wasting my question on basics like, ‘Where are you taking me?'” I knew the author was a genius! These characters are GROUNDED in reality when they say things like that. Additionally, the dialogue was A++++. Davis did an awesome job making the characters sound realistic.

The world of the story is our own, which I liked. I don’t always want to be in a fantasy world when I’m reading fantasy. Davis does an excellent job describing what needs to be described and leaving other things to the imagination. The theme of growth and willingness for change is very deeply imbedded in the story. Additionally, self-reflection is noted in our main characters arc too. Theresa REALLY has to grow and Davis makes it easy for us to see how she develops.

This book is short and sweet! Davis uses no complex language, which is important because our narrator is a 21 year old social media influencer who also works as an administrative assistant. She has no where near the vocabulary of our author, and Davis keeps everything to Theresa’s level.

I have no complaints about this book. This part One of the series ends on a perfect note! It was well done, fun and thrilling! Highly recommended!

Wow what a book!! I loved slowly learning little bits of information. I guess this poor human is how many of us would feel in the shifter world. I loved the world development and story line. Can not wait for part 2!!

An interesting quick read. Theresa is such a fun character to read about. She’s a social media celebrity and so into herself. She would be annoying to me in real life but is hilarious to read about. I’m not a fan of cliffhangers, but the next book comes out next month and I’ll definitely grab it to find out how Theresa handles her new situation. I really enjoyed Jilted.

Loved it, couldn’t put it down. Theresa is spoiled but James loves her. They are to be married and Theresa can’t understand why James doesn’t invite his family to the wedding. Unbeknownst to her James is hiding a serious family secret from her. She doesn’t know who James truly is. As the pieces unravel, it may be too late to save James or herself. Loved this book and can’t wait to read part 2. Read this in one setting.

This isn't your typical shifter romance book, James and Theresa met at work, but there was no fated mates, feel it in your bones, read each other's mind connections. No, there wasn't anything, so seeing her husband attacked on her wedding night, Theresa does what anyone would do, call the cops. Only for Theresa this leads to a picture that allows her online followers to see the trouble in paradise.

There are times in the beginning where Theresa comes off a bit shallow to me, but as the story progressed so did Theresa. James seemed to be a very dominating male presence that I wasn't too keen on but makes sense towards the end, showing us that even with books first impressions are not always correct.

This book ends on the mother of all cliffhangers, sure to leave all readers biting their nails and counting down the days until the release of the 2nd book in this series.

You won't be disappointed in this work by Azaa, by reading this book you will find a new favorite author, a step outside the normal shifter romance, and a ride waiting for an end!

Review: I really liked this one! It was a fun fast paced read with an intriguing story. The character development was good and I really felt hooked by the writing.

The only issue I had was that the book didn't have a lot of world building and there was a lot of romance in the book, which I'm not accustomed to.

Verdict: It was good!

This is the first book that I've read by Azaaa Davis.
It's a novella, only 100 pages long. For a good portion of that time, we are having the scene set. I can't say I was over impressed with our heroine at that point. That came later.
By day she worked in a Doctor's and it wasn't a great experience. But by night??? Enter the confident and extroverted social media princess!
So without saying too much...married life sure wasn't all it was cracked up to be, but I found myself cheering her on and sat reading with a smile on my face as things progressed...
THEN came the cliffy!!!
Sheer wickedness of our author to end it like that!!! lol

liked this book! This is the second story I’ve read from Azaaa Davis and I really like her style.
Although I first thought that Theresa was so self-absorbed that she couldn’t really live anyone other than herself, but she developed as a character throughout the book. By the end of the story, I was invested in the character and wished the second book was already published so I could finish the story.
Congratulations Azaaa Davis, you hooked me so I want to read more of your books!
Grab Jilted for yourself today, you won’t be disappointed!

Talk about marrying into a crazy family

What an interesting story with a big twist. Teresa has plans for her life which include being Insta famous with sponsors, a hot doctor husband and the pampered life. She is set to marry James, hot doctor, on Halloween night. Things get strange when some of James family show up, but she brushes it off. Later that night, James is missing. She eventually finds him on the balcony being attacked by a monster. Will she save James? Does she even know what she getting into? Cool story!

2 1/2 stars. I didn't like Theresa very much at first. She seemed obsessed with image and nothing else. But what I love about reading is that it can open your mind to other experiences and understanding of people. While I would probably not be friends with Theresa (I just don't think we have much in common) she showed some unexpected depth and though it is cliched it reminds me don't judge a book by its cover.

I couldn't get into it

I don't typically read paranormal stories but this was my book club's choice so I went into it with an open mind. And at first, I thought I would like it a little. But unfortunately, it didn't pan out for me. It just seemed scattered, among other things. Some characters seemed either underdeveloped or tossed in (i.e. Jaz), and I just didn't enjoy the unlikable, conceited heroine or the story overall, I hate to say.

what???

The female lead is a complete spoiled brat. She is a social media maven who only cares about her followers and her image in front of the camera. There was no real chemistry between her and James. There was also to many gaps in the story line to keep me engaged. I know there is a part 2 of the book but honestly I have no desire to keep reading and find out what is going on. This book lacked a lot of the this I enjoy so much about paranormal romances. I wanted to like it but honestly I’m kind of upset i wasted the time reading this one. It only made me upset and dislike social media models even more.

Wasted Time

This "heroine" was EXTREMELY irritating. The social media vanity really degraded what might have been a good story. I do NOT recommend.

Hi Readers,

This is an open letter to my fans and potential readers.

Cover? Title? Description? I'm so glad that something about this book caught your eye and held your attention long enough for you to end up here.

Jilted, book one in the Never Marry a Shifter duology, is a departure from my action packed urban fantasy books. Theresa is the softest main character I've written. She is not the strongest, smartest or kindest person. She is not a damsel in distress or a dragon slaying heroine. Instead, I created a relatable character that is flawed and endearing. Read Jilted and experience an incredible story filled with romance and suspense.

Thank you for joining me on my writing journey.

Best wishes,

Azaaa Davis

Ms. Davis wrote a great paranormal romance. Theresa fell in love with with Dr, James Patrick. She thought that everything was going just as planned for the wedding. Theresa was in for a rude awakening when after the wedding things started to fall apart. All I can say is that I can't wait to read book two to find out what happens next.
