Fated Star Mates #3

Chosen by the Alien Prince

Rate this book

This book starts off with Hope and other humans being abducted by aliens. They are taken to the alien planet, experimented on, tested to see if they were breedable. The aliens weren't having as many babies and female babies were rare so they needed to find other females to breed with but instead of going to other planets and making nice and asking for volunteers, they abducted females.

Hope was one of the human females that was abducted and taken to the alien planet. After being tested and implanted with a communication device so she could communicate with the aliens, she was selected to be the female that would breed with the price so his family line could live on. But when Tor first meets her, he's not interested in breeding with a human because he finds her lacking.

Hope doesn't want to have anything to do with Tor either and they both let each other know it. Tor is a seven foot tall, blue skinned alien with horns and a tail. So he intimidating to a small human female but his outright disgust of her at first doesn't go over well with her either. But she has to stay at his home until his mother is satisfied that the breeding between them won't work.

The more time they spend together though, the more they get to know each other. Then Tor realizes that she has something called Sol and that they are true mates and both of their feelings change when they can feel the mate bond between them. Things would have been fine if the government known as the "Regime" hadn't interfered and tried to take over the monarchy.

Tor was the Prince but his mother was the ruler but the regime really interfered and swayed her decisions. Tor hadn't really taken his Prince roll seriously so the regime was easily getting more and more control and power. So by the time he realized what was going on, it was too late for him to do anything about it. I am really looking forward to seeing Tor take back the crown and what will happen next. This is the 3rd book in the series but the first one that I've read. I didn't feel lost at all but I do want to read all the other books now.

The storyline concept is great, but I am still finding the execution simple and confusing at times. These aliens are alpha, and the human females can hold their own, but I find the storytelling all over the place, too much description in places confused me, not enough in other places felt like the story was jumping. I am enjoying the reads but they take more effort than they should

Bentornate Fenici!

I love a story with some good court intrigue!

description

When I picked up this book I expected little else than some alien smut, so the fact that there was a whole ass plot going on with some seriously thick-ass power struggle happening between the Sovereigns of this fictional world and the Regime (royals vs "government"), and between Tor, the male lead, and his parents (particularly, his mother, the Queen) was such a nice surprise! SO. MUCH. TENSION. Personal, familial, political... There was scheming and head butting galore!

description

This book also got kinda dark at times. There were mentions of the aliens carrying out experiments on human females. Not quite knowing the extent and consequences of these experiments added some very unexpected horror vibes, and certainly upped the stakes for Hope to find a way to help Tor take the Royal family's power back from the Regime.

The enemies to lovers trope was really well done, too. The sheer disgust both of them felt towards the other, and how they tried and felt to fight their mate bond was a big source of enjoyment for me. I also really liked how there were a lot of miscommunications and misunderstandings because of cultural and idiomatic differences. That felt very realistic and expected to me, and isn't something that actually happens very often in sci-fi romance, or at least not in the few books I've read in the genre.

The story was told in dual POV, and while this is typically my preferred choice for romance books, in this particular case I was a little annoyed how when the POV changed, the story went back to rehash everything from the other character's perspective.

description

All in all, I really liked the book and practically devoured it, but I would have liked to know, before starting this novel, that there was an overarching story going on about rebel groups trying to overthrow the people in power (both the Regime and Sovereigns) as it was left very much up in the air. The very last bit of the blurb says that the books in this series can be read individually, but I would strongly recommend you listen and pay attention to the part that says you should read them in order, that's what I'll be doing.

This which is OK for me. The world was interesting. The soul band I liked. There was a little bit of action that I appreciate it. I just felt like the set up was so similar to other alien romances that I have read in the past where human women are captured from earth, and then were set to be these sex slaves/breeders for an alien race. I wanted something different from that typical plot and in a sci-fi setting. Plus, I just want a little bit more romance between Tor and Hope. I just felt like once they were established as having the sol bond there wasn’t really much to it because it was a given, and then they just wanted to mate like rabbits. For me that wasn’t enough development. However, I did it like them together, and I liked how protective they became of each other by the book’s end.

Fated mates enemies to lovers.

This is a difficult combination of tropes and didn’t read as smoothly as other variations I’ve seen. The switch flipped and suddenly everything was fine? The MMC drove me crazy because he was the epitome of a rich spoiled play boy xenophobe and apparently only needed 24 hours to change his entire personality. Time is required for a redemption arc to be believable.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: medical experimentation, abduction/captivity, mention of trafficking

Love burns bright

The author starts this book quickly with an alien abduction and keeps the energy and excitement high throughout the book. The characters make me want to laugh, and I can’t decide if I want to give them a hug for support or a head slap to get a grip between one minute and the next. The beginning of the book seems almost carefree, but the author slowly chips away the veneer and gives us glimpses of the truth. I love how Tor slowly changes and starts becoming the leader he should have always been. By the time I reached the last page I didn’t want it to end. I’m so glad these two found their HEA, but I can’t wait to see if Tor finally takes the crown. I started this series in the middle, but I didn’t feel lost, although I’m looking forward to reading the previous books and seeing what I missed before the next installment comes out.

honestly, i couldn’t get over the fact that the hero would have never given the heroine a second glance, had she not been his sol.

the moment he met the heroine, he disrespected her, dehumanised her by calling her an it. he also mentioned over and over again about how much he despised the idea of having a hybrid for a child—which is just a fancy way of saying he didn’t want a mixed baby.

but all was forgotten the minute his sol recognized hers. which would have been okay if he apologised to her or made amends but he didn’t. i think this book would have benefited from being longer—at the very least, the relationship between characters would have been more organic.

another thing i didn’t like was the fact that the hero was so bratty. you would have thought as a prince he would seem dependable but lord, he was acting like a 14 year old who just hit puberty. so not sexy.

lost patience DNF BADLY WRITTEN

This book feels as though it were written by a 12 yr old.
It’s so poorly devised. I lost my patience and quit in the middle of chapter 3. Sorry, this … I hesitate to call it a book, as it reads like a 12 yr old telling a story that drags, drones and lulls on and on and on….it’s either written by a child or a another language other than English then translated poorly, Or someone with the education of a child. I just could not do it.
On top of that… there were far too many things in the short span of two and a half chapters that made absolutely no sense. Like ok if you were a dragon and over 100+ years ago.. ALTHOUGH BOOK SUGGESTED. IT WAS 1000 YEERS AGO! BUT NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN ITS 100+ YEARS … you were trapped inside a volcano waiting to be released the very day it happens. A woman falls a straight drop from mouth of volcano and lands at the bottom although she is unconscious, SHE IS ALIVE, no blood NO VISIBLE BLEEDING ok ? Hmm? But I digress… you fly out revealing yourself to be a dragon to several people, switch to naked human form … your friend (also a dragon) produces clothes for you to wear .. magically you are wearing jeans..ok? and you know what jeans are? Hmm? Whatever er.? . you ride in a car.. mind you .. YOU ALSO MAGICALLY KNOW WHAT A CAR IS! SHOCK ! riding, With the humans to the hospital.. girl wakes up doctor cover in her blood? Ok now all of a sudden a mild concussion and broken wrist.. FROM MASSIVE TRAUMATIC FALL.. ooooooook?… and the doctor releases her on her own recognizance less than a few hours later.. she is up and running around going back up the volcano the very next day! to find the mysterious man! No just no no no no! No! Oh.. and all of a sudden the magma starts flowing while she is going up. And then she is on a ledge … mystery guy shows up Oh I forgot The dragon guys there are 4 of them, they supposedly build a house on top of the volcano!! But when girl gets there she see no sign of the guy or the house ? And the magma flows she falls into his arms After dropping another great, fall off the mountain volcano as magma races in her direction.. he catches her, but they just stand there are talking.. while magma is racing to the cliff where she fell. Hmmm? assuming he was below to catch her.. they would need to move far away to avoid the magma. Oh. Good grief I just couldn’t after that. Far too inconceivable! And even for fiction. I still need my fiction to make some sorta sense. Come on! Could not move beyond chapter 3

Heroine Hope and a bunch of other women are abducted by aliens. She’s given to alien Prince Tor, in hopes he’ll become interested in her and will try to produce a “tyk.” (In violation of nature, his people have tinkered and “improved” themselves so much that they’ve become infertile).

However, the dissolute prince is more interested in living in a virtual reality world and having sex with alien hookers than fulfilling his responsibility to produce an heir. He takes one look at Hope, denounces her as ugly and alien, and rejects her. But then the Sol bond kicks in and changes everything. (An interesting play on soul and sol for sun). The prince wakes up not only to the truth of Hope being his Sol but also to the political reality on his planet. His mother, the Sovereign Lady, has become a mere figurehead, a puppet controlled by the advisors in her Regime. The people of his planet have not been treated well, and in violation of the law, the Regime has been abducting and conducting breeding tests on women. (The prince was originally told Hope was a “volunteer.”)

Chosen by the Alien Prince was an enjoyable, interesting sci-fi romance. The world-building is creative and thorough with unique buildings, mind-reading of memories, vehicles, etc. The political intrigue takes the story to deeper level beyond alien meets girl. Although Chosen by the Alien Prince is book 3 of the Fated Star Mates series, it reads like a standalone. If you haven’t read the others in the series, you’ll never know the difference. The couple gets their HEA; there’s no cliff. What does continue through the series is the political intrigue.

The sex scenes are explicit, and there are quite a few of them, which leads to my gripe. The couple has this strong, loving “solmate” bond so I found it jarring when author repeatedly used the eff word as the synonym for sexual intercourse. It appeared to be the only verb & gerund (noun) she knew for sex. It came across as harsh and vulgar, not erotic. Other readers may not be bothered by the use of the word, but I was. This did not affect my rating of the book.

Lastly, on an amused side note, the alien word for baby or child was “tyk.” I’m sure the author intended this to be pronounced “tike.” However, in my mind I pronounced it as “tick,” i.e. a blood-sucking parasite. Lol.

Read the book. It’s good.

I was sent a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Book 2 in The fated Mates series is every bit as good and attention grabbing as Book 1.
In this story we meet Hope and walk beside her as she is shunted from the Breeding Center into a ship and delivered to The Sovereign Prince Torven. He hates her on sight and refers to her as "it"ordering his "man" to remove "it" from his rooms immediately. He is determined he isn't going to take his rightful place as King when his father dies and is planning on leaving his planet as soon as he can and going into "exile" to live a life of luxury. Unfortunately for him, fate drops in for a visit in the form of Hope - a human abducted from Earth. He comes into very close contact with her and a strange glowing design appears on his chest with a matching one appearing on Hopes's chest as well. It means they are sol - mated stars that exploded hundreds of years ago. Suddenly his plans change as he comes to terms with what this means.
The story is full of intrigue, dirty plots and betrayals, corruption, theft, more abductions, attacks - you name it Kyla has woven it into the story and has done a marvelous job of binding the whole thing together. This woman knows how to tell as story.
Highly recommend this series. They don't need to be read in order as each story is complete although people appear in book 2 who were in book 1, but they are re-introduced so there is no confusion as to where they fit into the plot.

Hope gets kidnapped by large blue Aliens who want to use her as well as the other women that they kidnapped to produce children. She doesn't have long in the holding facility before she's rushed off to be offered to the prince. While he's determined not to make hybrids it seems fate has other ideas when they learn they are mates. Suddenly they aren't as safe as they thought and Tor has to do everything to protect her.

This is my first Alien romance so I didn't know what to expect but I had some ideas. I liked Hope she's sweet and Tor while a little arrogant has some redeeming qualities. I love that the courting seems to find hope in awful outfits of the 80s. This is a new concept but I think it was a great choice to dip my toes in with.

This is my first book by the author but it won't be my last as I feel like I need to read the whole series. I loved the sweet story but I feel like it needed to be longer. I have so many questions that aren't answered but I hope reading the rest will give me more info. The romance between the two was steamy but not unbelievable when they get to the bedroom. The story was quick fast paced a little whirlwind but captivating.

Hope & Trovex

Hope

This was a better story as you can imagine the dynamics surrounding the population n the regime. The Sovereigns are basically puppets. Tor has lived with lies his whole life, so when the truth is purposely dangled in his face, he bulks like the petulant child he is. But the Regime has schemes n plans in motion to supplant the monarchy.
Enter Hope, a human female chosen to breed with Tor. A calculation by the Regime doomed to fail because of her contraceptive device. But the fates have a way to throw a "monkey wrench" in the best laid plans.
These stories are laid out in serial form. I hate premises like this. Will I continue with this series, uh no!!

Every cloud has a silver (this case blue) lining.

The abduction the cloud. Tall blue honorable "hero" the silver lining. The mantra ..just 1 more chapter that translates into all night to the end of the book. And frustration the next book isn't available to dive right into immediately. Personally suggest you read in sequence as behind each complete love story a political plot to take over a planet weaves in and out from book to book. That said thos is well worth reading. Definitely keeping an eye out for further work.

This is Tor and Hope's story and it is full of Rangers and missunderstandings, for the Prince thinks that the regime is good and helping people but in thruth they are ploting against him and his family. How deep is the corruption? Who can he trust? Hope is the One thing he never wanted but now he could never leave. Their story is about so much more than their love. Is about all the vraxians livre.

Hope was abducted along with other females by the Vraxens. She was chosen as Torvex’s female. Torvex is their prince and his mother demands he makes her his lifemate and have an heir. Neither want to “marry”. Soon they realize they are sols. I had a hard time relating to Torvex. He was great once he realized she was his but I couldn’t get past his behavior before that. The best part was that the story kept me guessing.

I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Hmm, talk about a 180° turns. Tor just is a spoiled prince that doesn't want to follow orders. Hope is trying to just survive the new madness. Until touch creates the sol bond and everything happens quickly. Escape and double cross turns into a possible rebellion.
Kyla does a magnificent job creating a world that you can easily get lost in. Anxious to see who is next couple to mate and how their worlds will collide and change.

read out of order so maybe this is on me

The book said it can be read out of order from the series and I’d be okay but I think it’s bad advice. The world building sucked and I think part of that was maybe the author not wanting to be redundant throughout the series so this is probably on me. But I thought it tried to be plot heavy but didn’t do that great of a job. Spicy was good but not great either. A solid 3.5/5

It's not bad. Tor is a brat and an asshole at the beginning, but does change a bit. It was too sudden to be believable, though. The whole thing with the Regime and all the politics are not resolved, so the ending is a HFN, and you'll need to read the next book if you want to find out how that ends. I'm not sure I will, though. I got this one in a Stuff your Kindle event, and I'm not eager to spend any money on the series.

His Hope

A sweet story that was enemies to lovers on an alien scale. Hope is a kidnapped human gifted to a alien prince. Tor is the alien prince who learns all is not right in his world when he discovers his life mate. Great world building. Interesting characters and storyline. I keep pre-ordering the next book so you can tell I’m enjoying the series.

This book hits the ground running.. It starts with an abduction and the action does not stop there. Quite a few times I was left guessing... The only issue I had was with the hero and how he treated the heroine in the beginning. Otherwise I loved this book!

I loved, loved, loved Hope and Tor's story so much!

Wow, I read the first two books in this series and they got me hooked, but this 3rd book is my favorite, Hope and Tor's story really got to me because of the way they met and fell in love! Can't wait for the rest of this series so I can read it!

Chosen by the Alien Prince #3

I hadn't read this author before and was a little hesitant to get it but after the first book I thought it was interesting, so I got the second then third. Each one has been a joy to read. Now on to the fourth one. Weaving all the stories together in one form or another has given an added addition to the books. Good reading for all.

Not bad.

Cliff hanger... I really hate cliff hangers. Needs better editing. Could be a typo. Conversation not conversion. Now the good things. I enjoyed some of the characters. Pretty good storyline. Lots of action. Very well written Hot hot hot sex scenes. 😜 lol.. If you like cliffhangers you just might enjoy this. For the most part I did. Oh well, happy reading! LoriKatt 😸

Cliffhanger You have been warned

The story was fast paced and educational for the aliens and humans. Highly political with the aliens and backstabbing staff. I want to finish the story to see how it all goes, but I don't like cliffhanger endings. Therefore, I will not be reading the next bookk.

This book was better than the first two in the series! We get a lot more world building but we also get a true love story. Actually getting to see the two fall in love instead of just being an instalove vibe was a nice change. Yes they’re still sol bonded but they develop a real relationship that wasn’t shown in the other books.

An excellent addition

I’m really enjoying this series. The tropes are familiar, especially in this genre, but Quinn handles them deftly. I recommend the starting with the alien pirate and reading the full series.

GARAGE!

When are you authors ever going to fucking learn to stop bring your political ideals into your books! Also when are you going to learn that by doing this your are forcing your fucked up ideals onto others and that is not one of your human rights!!!!
