To find the killer, he must lose his mind…

When a missing girl is found on her parents’ doorstep, she becomes the only survivor in an ongoing serial killer investigation led by DI Matthew Myers. The case will make or break him. The faces of the victims haunt his every waking moment. But now, at last, he has the killer in custody.

However, with harassment charges against him and a lack of substantial evidence, Myers is forced to let the killer walk free – a move that will push him to the very edge of sanity.

Harvey Stone is a man of few words. As the adopted son of a wealthy businessman, his needs are few and his deadly skills are plenty.

But when Harvey’s guard is down and a member of his family is killed, Harvey is given an ultimatum: find the killer, or never return.

With two desperate men seeking the same killer, their paths must surely cross. But following a roller-coaster ride of murder and lies, only one man can prevail. The question is, who has more to lose?

Set at the turn of the century on the edge of East London, where the gritty suburbs meet the rolling countryside, this British detective novel is a breath-taking blend of suspense, action, and mystery with a dark edge that will keep you awake for nights on end.

The Silent Man is the first book in the brand-new British crime thriller series from award-winning crime writer J.D. Weston, author of the Stone Cold Thriller series and the Frankie Black Files.

The Harvey Stone series is perfect for fans of David Baldacci, Lee Child, James Patterson, and Michael Connelly.

If there was a zero star I would give that
Just dreadful -a regurgitated plot / laborious writing with just so much gratuitous violence- there is a good reason car chases are put on screen they are just too boring to read

Dreadful misuse of words

If you value words used in the correct context, avoid this book!
I got 15% through but was defeated by the word errors. No editor?

Fast paced and full of action!
I loved this book and couldn't put it down, reading it in one sitting, well into the small hours, until my eyes hurt! It feels like I'm watching either a fast paced action movie or a box set that I can't stop watching. The descriptions are on point and the characters are at the right level of intrigue necessary for this to be an unputdownable book.

The main characters Harvey and Myers, are really well written, full bodied and suit the role that they portray. With them being on opposing sides, it's good to see how the story envelopes them both to a stunning conclusion! They are unwittingly linked by a common cause that needs Harvey to exact his kind of justice, with a little help from Myers.
Retribution comes at last, like lambs to the slaughter, Harvey finds them and makes them pay!
Hold onto your hats, this is an edge of your seat ride!
I cannot recommend this book highly enough, get it now, you won't be disappointed!
I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

The silent man

A young girl is abducted, but ends up being returned to her family. However, her abductor ends up dead. The silent man is Myers key suspect, but after 24 hours he doesn’t even get a name from him. Myers boss is frustrated with his obsession on the case he has been working on for sometime and she believes he is trying to fit the evidence to catch an influential member of the community. A criminals son is getting wed when disaster occurs and the silent man is part of the family. Taken of the original case Myers is told to investigate the wedding shooting. The story ends up moving into child grooming and young girls being drugged and taken advantage of at posh parties. The silent man being a large part of the story. It’s a page turner and I didn’t want to put the book down. Myers boss frustrated me a bit and whilst the book had a good ending there was one question that I would have like to have been answered. Still a good book. 4.5 out of 5 from me.

My review of THE SILENT MAN by J.D.Weston

I have to admit that I have read a ton of thrillers in my lifetime, but nothing like THE SILENT MAN by J.D. Weston. This book is extremely unique with police working against criminals, and finally, in the heat of the moment, joining forced in order to save lives, and stop these organized crimes. There is plenty of action, and times when you wonder what is actually happening!
I would recommend this book to all of my friends who love thrillers, but it's definitely not a psychological thriller. Thank you, J.D.Weston for a well written, entertaining book. I truly enjoyed it!

The Audible version of “The silent man” was my first introduction to JD Weston.

This book kept my attention but could have a used a few less chapters and a few less descriptions.
It is a very fast moving story, suspenseful but a little convoluted at times, and a villain with more lives than a cat that just magically stays alive. I felt that police officer Myers character was more developed and more relatable.
The ending of this first book was unsatisfying for me and a little too mushy. Maybe the rest of the trilogy would salvage my opinion ?

The narrator did a decent job keeping the storyline entertaining but could use few more intonations to distinguish the characters.

This is an excellent book for thriller fans. Loads of action from start to finish, a mysterious anti-hero, a driven cop and a fair amount of gory bloodshed. There is torture involved but thankfully much of the most gruesome detail is left to the imagination. That said, there are some very violent scenes as you'd expect in this kind of thriller. I listened right through in one day and can't wait for the next one in this series.

The narrator, Greg Patmore, gives a top notch performance and keeps the listener immersed in the story.

I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and am voluntarily writing an honest and unbiased review.

This book start out with the usual officers trying to track down criminals in a police investigation. Detective Myers is a single minded man who has a unique ability to put himself into the criminals mindset. Harry is a foster son to a Big time Crime Boss and a hitman. The story eventually gets to where another foreign group of criminals are targeting both the Criminal boss and the police so the two Harry & Myers team up . Narrator does a Great job with the characters voices and with the storyline.

In my sixty-odd years of reading, there's perhaps a handful of books that I've been unable to finish. This is one of them. The writing is so poor that I found myself wincing in embarrassment and irritation at least once a page. I've sometimes persevered with badly-written books because the story was compelling, but in this case the writing was worse than most, and the story (moth-eaten by clichés, with a cast of stock characters in stock situations) simply wasn't strong enough to blind me to the poor grammar and infelicitous style.

Brilliant! Absolutely loved this story. As I reviewed on Amazon, I have a huge smile on my face, prolly because Harvey had that rare smile on his face with the last sentence of The Silent Man. The best part was Harvey seeing "paternal love" even though he had never known his own parents. WOW. Just wow. Thank you, Mr. Weston!!!

It was ok.
Two POV
Detective Meyers
And Harvey Stone.

Harvey is part of organized crime.
It seems both Meyers and Harvey are trying to find the same criminal. But they never worked together until the very end.

Not sure about continuing. Maybe.

Intriguing thriller

I’ve really enjoyed this book, I think it would be a great tv show or film. The author makes the reader care about the characters, always a plus for me.

Audio version

I honestly thought it Micheal Caine narrating the book it just sounded so much like him. This story started of slow but really glad that I kept going with it and it got really involved with lots of twists and turns. Loved the way it really bought different underworld styles into it rather than just the basic ones.

I was given an a free review copy but this did not influence my review.
