He's The Goal

Rate this book
Vada Finley is many things: Young. Determined. Full of sass. Definitely not a control freak with a touch of OCD when it comes to maintaining the home she shares with her older brother. That is, until her brother takes an extended business trip and invites his best friend to live in his room while he's gone.

Enter Maxwell Vahn, a hockey playing man-whore with only two ambitions in life: to stop goals on the ice and score off it. He's a wild card, a free spirit, and an STD waiting to happen, caught in a downward spiral. Without a doubt, he's the last person Vada wants in her home, or her life!

At least, that's what she thinks...

But Max is something else. The more they get to know one another, the harder it is for Vada to keep her distance; and the less inclined Max is to stay away. He's used to playing games, but this time he's ready to get serious; right up until a former flame sets everything on fire.

If you want to bang your head over a story full of incongruities, throw your hands in your face because of the childish personality of the main characters and roll your eyes because of the thousands of clichés, this is your book.
I give it zero stars and my recommendation to the author to review well what she writes before publishing it and to get advice from reliable people.

I can only start by saying WHAT A HORROR OF A BOOK!!! and how surprised I am by the high rating it has been given. It just makes me think that they didn't even take the time to read it.

This book is the perfect exemplification of having no idea how to develop a story. The definition of each character's personality is conspicuous by its absence.
The coherence of the writing is non-existent. As soon they are in the kitchen as they jump into the bedroom without having passed through the living room and if we go to the relationships, I was completely lost.

Jack's role in the story was mind boggling. My brother behaves like that and I kill him. Other characters that appeared did not add anything to the book, on the contrary, they only made me think: what's he doing here?

I found Vada's fickleness unbearable. One moment she seemed like a 23 year old girl and the next she was a 15 year old teenager. Max started off badly and in the end he was the least worst of them all, but even with that I couldn't give him a two for his personality.

I couldn't savor the chemistry between Max and Vada and then the sex...it was bland and emotionless.

I'm not an expert writer, just a great reader. I've read enough to be able to understand that a book must have consistency of facts, time, circumstances and even secondary, but much more importantly definition of character traits.

It cannot be published at the first time, without a revision and even less a correction of style and writing. I would advise the author to think a little more about polishing herself, to look for an editor, even online, to improve her work. I for one will never read anything from her again.

One star to make it count because she deserves a cero.

Si pudiera darle 0 estrellas lo haría, es un libro que no merece la pena leerlo, Vada es un personaje tan poco creíble y Max por dios, lo único medio rescatable es la villana Bianca que a pesar de estar loca era coherente, muy mala historia

Faith scores five with this one!
Having read Faith’s novella Lay Me Down, I knew that she could write the hot stuff, but He’s the Goal is so much more than that. If you have ever experienced the churning in the pit of your stomach associated with new love, or that itching of lust in your loins, then you will really feel this book and be compelled to keep turning the pages. Vada and Max are both outwardly confident, inwardly insecure individuals. As the story begins, they act with an antagonism towards each other, but that gradually melts away as they realise their mutual attraction. The secondary characters of best friend Monica, jealous ex Bianca, and Chester the cat, all bring colour to a well-constructed journey. Oh, and didn’t I tell you … there’s plenty of hot and spicy stuff too. 18+ content.

A good one

Vadas brother takes off for a job and lets his bff Max use his room for a few months. The thing is, his sister is his roommate. Max and Vada are not on the best of terms and forced to cohabatate. Together, they come to realize they both are attracted to one another and start to build a relationship. They both struggle to overcome past hurts and grow emotionally. They learn that a healthy relationship can overcome anything, even the likes of B. I enjoyed this book overall. The writing was good. The chericters really did overcome some big past hurts. The spicy times were good, too. This wasn't a 4 star for be because I wish this book had a little more hockey in it, and otherwoman drama really isn't my jam.

Omg

I seriously couldn't stop reading this. I read it on my breaks at work, during my bath, during cooking dinner and sadly, during movie time! ABSOLUTELY breath taking and NEVER a full moment! I, at times, realized I was smiling reading this, because it's every girls fantasy on how love should go!!! ♥️♥️ Excited to read more novels from Faith!

This was painful to finish. The story line is an entire other bag of worms, but the actual writing was terrible. So many grammatical mistakes, spelling errors, and continuity errors. I had to keep rereading some parts and guess as to what the author was actually trying to say. Should probably get the book proofread before publishing.

Regrettably, a distracting number of typos in this edition. Characters read young for their ages and a telling vs showing structure in many places I wished it wasn’t. These two things made it hard for me to suspend disbelief and stick with it to the end. Could be fun characters to read for someone who likes an overtly sassy female lead that is the one who reforms him—but this one weren’t for me.

had potential to be better

Had the makings of a good book but for me too many lost opportunities to have stronger main leads. Read like teenagers at times and the psycho was allowed too much leeway making max look stupid. Disappointing.

It was ok. The fmc dragged herself a lot which got kind of annoying and there were a lot of grammatical issues that got me. I don’t think I would recommend honestly :/

I enjoyed this but I felt like there wasn’t a lot of depth and plot to the story. Like I wish we got to know the characters more: does Vada ever confront her dad, does Maxwell grieve and connect with his family again, why is Bianca crazy…. I liked their story but I didn’t love it

Let me start from the beginning when the enemies become roomies! If anything Vada wanted least so that was Maxwell’s appearance. But you know what, fate always loves to play games. Being a hockey player he obviously has a lots of gorgeous flowers but among all of them one flower was something else to him. It was her! The one who can read his heart well. Cat-fighting was the cutest part from the book lol. Fighting created ‘care’ inside them. A player knows how to play but when player becomes the goal to someone’s life he can’t concentrate into the game. Slowly but very easily they just FALL into each other. He becomes the goal of her life. At the end she achieved her goal on the field of cold ice. She becomes the forever cheerer to Maxwell Vahn’s life & game.

This was a super cute story!! Loved Vada and Max together from the sass and banter to the turning point in their non-existing friendship. This book definitely felt realistic in the situations taking place and had me wanting to read more. The feels addressed in this book are those I feel everyone has at some point from insecurity to jealousy.

Overall this was a great read in which I did it in one sitting as I couldn't put it down! Definitely a great enemy to lovers, steamy, sports romance!

This book is so funny... I laughed a LOT. There is lots of perfect banter between Max and Veda. The situation when he played his guitar, OMG 🤣🤣🤣 Poor Veda...
I loved that Max was already in love with Veda for years... SOOO cute. But yes, why does he have all the puck bunnies? Especially this Bianca b*tch... I hated her 🤬 I really don't get it that Max was so stupid... Yes, yes, yes, I know it's a book and we need such situations because it would be too cute without it... 😎
