After being summoned to another world and passed over for a power known as the Gift, Yogiri Takatou and Tomochika Dannoura set out on a journey to reunite with the classmates who abandoned them, and to find a way back to their own world. After a small detour to the Garula Canyon, where a Swordmaster set various trials before them, Yogiri accidentally used his power of Instant Death to put a stop to the revival of a Dark God who had been sealed away. Leaving chaos and carnage in their wake, the unlikely pair resume their trek to the capital, where they hope to find their estranged fellow students. However, while Yogiri's abilities have made it smooth sailing so far, his actions have inadvertently shifted the balance of power in the world around them, and now those who rule over their new world are beginning to take notice of him...
This 3rd. Volume is about 100 pages less than each of the first two. It also has less chapters and action. Yogiri and Tomochika finally get together with the other students from their class. Tomochika had done nothing but complain in the first 2 volumes, and in this third volume, the author makes her an all rounder martial artist, using a japanese sword and ball breaker movement on David one of the Knights in the Capital and then killing the monsters they encounter underneath the capital. All the while, Ayaka Shinozak, one of the 4 students left on the bus to be killed by the Dragon, turns into a Terminator style serial killer, eats some of the left over wyvern dragon and clones all of the attacks and skills (even language) of the dragon. Yes this is totally made up and has no logic or common sense. She begins to hunt down all of the students that abandoned her at the bus for revenge. Well, this is all irrational, but, since she is still alive, then why is she still seeking revenge? If she is seeking revenge then why is Yogiri and Tomochika fine with having been left behind? Yogiri now has a three way harem, with Tomochika, Carol (the american ninja) and Ryouko (the samurai). Both Carol and Ryouko were agents infiltrated in the classroom to spy on Yogiri and his Over Powered Death Skill. Before, this volume, Yogiri, basically killed, slept and played his video console game. (and he wasn't any good at the game). Sage Sion is still doing everything possible to kill Yogiri, but now, not so much Tomochika. The only positive things so far in this Light Novel series, is that they hardly spend any time eating, going to the hot baths or organizing silly festivals, like they are so common in other light novel series.
Almost five stars, I'm finding the series a lot more enjoyable than I first thought I would. Reunited with most of their classmates, the author did a great job weaving together all the stories of the various groups. Didn't really feel like a cliffhanger, it's only after in finished the volume I realized there were so many unresolved threads to the story.
Our MC and company has finally met up with the rest of the class. For me while a great edition to the series it was kinda of interlude. The interaction of MC was limited it was more about all the other side characters and bad guys as they converge on the Capital.
I'm giving the same rating to all of these because it just keeps increasing in insanity. (Read my review of the first one if you think I've lost my mind).
2nd reading: As I continued reading this series, it became more and more interesting for me. I am now going to collect the paperbacks as well even though I have all the Kindle editions. However, I will leave the star rating as it is because I feel it's a story that improves when you know more of the plot.
