Melanie Waters is stuck in a rut. This all leads to one conclusion - something has got to change!
After she starts to take pottery classes on a whim, things seem to be looking up for Mel, but when her creative side and love life clash, she begins to question her choice. Can she discover herself while still being a rock to her eight-year-old daughter, or will she have to give it all up? And when disaster strikes at the Lily Vale Village Summer Fair, will Mel be able to figure out a solution?

Listening to the soothing chirp of the birds and the soft rustle of the trees, a sensation of pure serenity washes over me like a gentle wave.

Some lines from this novel –
Who knows what the future will bring no one can predict it. Your life could be on track, plodding along as it always does, when something unexpectedly derails it and knocks you completely off course. But while you're picking up the pieces, crying over your shattered plans and dreams, you might discover something better than you ever imagined. The most important thing is to live in the present, at least, that's what I've learnt this year.
We're living our present, taking each day as it comes. And so far, it's been one wild, incredible ride.
The 2nd book on this lovely series of short stories set in Lily Vale Village. This book centres around Mel, the lovely Nurse at Lily Vale Care Home where there is book club, which was part of the 1st book in this series.
Mel has recently split from her husband with a view to divorcing him, but there's her daughter, Grace to think of as she is having a tough time adjusting. Mel joins a pottery class where she meets Josh, the teacher of the class. There's obviously a spark of romance between them, but she's too afraid to let anything happen because of Grace.
There's a new resident at the care home who is determined to keep to herself, despite Mel trying to include her in activities. There's a story to this new resident which emerges during the book.
Mel agrees to take stall at the Summer Fayre, but what can she sell? Disaster strikes, can she save the day, or rather can a handsome teacher save the day?
A lovely short story easily read in a couple of hours, part of a series of books. Each book is a standalone story but the books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.
