From #1 New York Times bestselling Dork Diaries author Rachel Renée Russell comes the third book in a series about Max Crumbly and his daily ups and downs in middle school.
Rachel Renee Russell is the #1 New York Times Best Selling author of the book series, DORK DIARIES, and the upcoming, THE MISADVENTURES OF MAX CRUMBLY to be released on June 7, 2016.
Oh, the agony! After all these months of waiting, I got what I wanted--but now it's over... Why are these books so SHORT?!
Why?
Anyway, I liked this third installment of the series. (Possibly as much as I liked the first one.) It ends the drama-filled arc of Max being trapped at his school, while reassuring you multiple times that the drama is far from over. The artwork is superb, merging with the story as nicely as the book's predecessors have done, and the cliffhanger is, once again, frustrating--as I should've expected it to be.
Max and his crush Erin are back trying to escape the school and the burglars they'd found in there!
They have to escape a dumpster, Get home without angering a police dog, delete the school cctv showing them inside and warn the school of the three burglars!
It was a super quick and fast paced lively read which didn't slow up in action and pace at all Max and Erin are an adorable couple and the illustrations make the novel come to life as well as the journal style making it seem a more authentic story from Max's direct point of view.
Daarom mijn vier sterren.
When you've had a busy week - or two - (first, President Macron does NOT act like his namesake cookie. Two, I've been thinking a bit on the Syrian Refugee Crisis. Three, THIS ELECTION!! At this point, I don't care who wins as long as they FINALLY reveal who does! I'm going crazy!!), it's nice to step back and relax with one of Max Crumbly's absolutely humorous misadventures. I didn't think it was interesting as the first two, but it gave me much-needed humor, so I'm grateful for it. 3.5 overall!
Basically, when we last left our hero, Max, and his crush/sidekick, Erin, they had, unfortunately, dumpster-dove to escape the police which were now swarming the school and the criminals chasing after them. Still, Max is really paranoid about all the events that have took place, and, consequently, becomes involved in another set of misadventures set off by the one preceding it. This book is a wonderful bundle of laughes, annoying siblings, and hilarious plot twists!
I've read all of the dork diaries books and the max crumblys too but this one was the best. If this one ended in a cliff hangar that means there will be a fourth max crumbly book. I'm really looking forward to reading it. Thank you very much for writing this book and all the other books you wrote Rachel Renée Russel. My name is Keamlak Debay and I am an Ethiopian boy 👦 and I am eleven years old.I learn in a really good school called R.I.C.E and I really love reading English books in my free time. I give this book a five star rating because I really loved it. I could even express my love for this book because I bought it today and I finished it today. It was worth buying this book for ten dollars.💓💙💚💛💜
If You Like Action, And Shocking Moments, This Is The Series For You
I liked this book because it had shocking parts everywhere that would make you so you didn't want to stop reading. Every book leaves you on a cliffhanger so you want to buy the whole series. In my opinion I find this book and the rest of the books interesting. This is why I gave this book a five star rating.
Awesome book series. In my opinion this was the weakest out of the three books but it is still great. I love how suspenseful it is and the cliffhangers. I recommend this book series to anybody who liked or loved the Diary of A Wimpy Kid series or the Timmy Failure series. I can’t wait for the next book.
1 ꙳ for now this series is bad. in dork diaries there is also no moral, but there is some passion that the author had to put in. i don't know if releasing this book was just a business move or genuine idea straight from rachel's heart. it was not as painful to read as the second part of this series, from the good side the first few pages with erin were anyhow nice.
Again, the action picks up immediately following the end of the second book. Max and Erin escape the burglars and continue through the weekend. The book concludes on the following Monday with another cliffhanger. Written as a journal. Middle grade readers will appreciate the humor and adventures.
This book is SO GOOD!!!!!!!!! It tells the story of Max Crumbly, middle schooler. This book is similar to dork diaries and is dangerously funny! I love the way Max is so funny around Erin and how he imagined getting caught by the police. This book is great for ages 9+.

uthor Rachel Renée Russell returns with the third book in the bestselling The Misadventures of Max Crumbly series, Masters of Mischief. You will probably be familiar with the name of author Rachel Renée Russell as the creator behind the tremendously popular and much-loved illustrated middle grade series Dork Diaries. The Max Crumbly series takes place in the world of Dork Diaries, but with a focus on a different set of characters and protagonist/hero Max Crumbly leading the way.
"I knew middle school was going to be really hard, but I never expected to be BURIED ALICE in a DUMPSTER full of ROTTING GARBAGE, wearing an ICE PRINCESS COSTUME and BIKER BOOTS!"
In first-person narrative- through Max's journal entries- Masters of Mischief begins right where the climax of book two, Middle School Mayhem, left off. Max and his friend (and very, very, secret crush) Erin find themselves stuck in a horribly icky and smelly dumpster on school property after thinking they have foiled the plans of three loud, oafish and scheming burglars who were attempting to steal school property. After a nail-biting, smelly, and funny turn after turn of events, Max and Erin find themselves free of the dumpster...but facing the possibility of a lifetime of being grounded or in detention! As Max and Erin try to stay ahead of the trio of burglars, the troupe of thieves very brashly and very boldly return to the scene of the crime (!) and the crime-fighting duo finds themselves in yet another incredibly tight and dangerous situation. The ending leaves on quite a clang of cliffhanger (Max had warned readers that it would!), and it will likely leave readers clamoring to read the next book.
Masters of Mischief is rollicking and fast- highly, highly entertaining and readable- beginning to end. I would say that while it is not totally essential to have read the first two titles in the series (and I had not!), I would still recommend it- to get a better sense of characters and prior events. Readers who have read through the Dork Diaries series may of course adore this series, but readers who haven't read the Dork Diaries series and are looking for more fun illustrated novels to try out, I would give this one a whirl! The boldly-lined illustrations (done, as I learned from the Acknowledgements, by Rachel Renée Russell's daughter Nikki Russell!) interspersed within the journal-format are super appealing and add a great action-adventure graphic touch to the books. Masters of Mischief is tight and zippy, packed with zany detours and adventures, with an energetic, sometimes jinxed, sometimes super-winning young protagonist in Max and an awesomely talented and stalwart friend in Erin...and the promise of more series entries to come!

Masters of Mischief starts up where Middle School Mayhem leaves off. With a cliffhanger. Max and Erin are trapped in a smelly dumpster outside school trying to avoid both the trio of criminals stealing school computers and the police who are investigating.
They do manage to free themselves from the dumpster but get themselves into a whole lot of other hot water. From crotchety neighbors, clueless principals, and mean older sisters, Max has had enough! He is going to confess (WAIT! for what? well, maybe? who knows what?).
Putting their heads together, Max and Erin come up with a plan. But, this plan is flushing them out big time. What's going to happen? I will tell you: ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER is waiting.
I should have read books #1-2 first, but I still enjoyed Russell's story of Max and his friend Erin who in this book are attempting to evade getting caught for their hijinx at their middle school, after hours, the night before. Would the police figure out who broke in? Would they find out that Max and Erin discovered burglars who were trying to steal the school's computer? Will Erin find out about the crush Max has on her?! Funny with great illustrations from the author of the Work Diaries series.
There is nothing wrong with the story, it’s a good continuation of the second series and overall this had been a great series. However the problem is; it’s so annoying to leave it as a cliffhanger then we look to see the next book coming out and Ms. Russell hasn’t made a book in THREE years! It’s really annoying to leave it on a cliffhanger and then we don’t know when the next one is coming out! Six months? Fine. Even a year; sure. But three years?! Don’t read if you get attached to stories because it’s not coming out.
Loved the book as it was alot like dork diaries which I love,it was a bit boring at the start as I was confused on what was going on but then it got super interesting in the middle and I really enjoyed I. Even though there was a warning at the begging that there would be a cliff hanger at the end I still wasn't expecting one,I really want to know what happens next 😂
It's easy to get stuck in these series because it's so good! I can't relate to how the illustrations are perfectly drawn, and Erin and Max are such a cute ship! Though it always ends with a cliffhanger, which leaves me feeling urggghhh. Nonetheless, I will definitely keep up with this series, and hopefully, the catastrophe will end soon. 👉🏻👈🏻
I didn't think the 3rd book of the Max Crumbly series would be this interesting. Max ending up getting into more trouble and getting his way out of it was a great part of this book. I am glad the series will keep going and I am excited to see what max and his crush do next.
This is a great adventure and mystery book it puts at the edge of your seat and you don't want to stop reading.I personally love this book because it contains wacky humor, thrilling action,a cool rap, and a mind blowing cliffhanger!I think you should read this book!
I loved this book it was amazing. My only problem was that it left off on a big cliffhanger. I was really annoyed about that but loving the dork diary series I knew that the next book was going to be great.
Another cliffhanger!!! It was time for the series to end, but the author chose to make four(or more?) books from one story. Books will be confusing for the kids. Don't read them out of order. When will the story end? There doesn't appear to be a book 4 at the library or on Amazon.
