For a series that started out well and with real potential it dropped like a bomb by the time I read through to book 3.

The plot went awol and was ridiculous.

For a ‘good girl’ who discovers her sexuality, how are we to believe that sexuality when she was still was under her Mama’s thumb. How often did Abbi succumb to that woman’s foul, judgemental tongue?

Abbi - needed to grow a pair and start acting her age.

Where was Henry Wolf? That Man portrayed as dominant and controlling? He became a side character.

Jed? Needed to get the message. He was done. She’s told him repeatedly.

The final nail in the coffin is that this storyline is now going onto a book 4! 🤦🏻

Unecessary and would have been better wrapped up in 2 books.

The first half of this book was two stars. I could care less about her farm! Like, go do something interesting, pleeaasseeeee. I don't care about her parents or her ex. BUT THE SECOND HALF!? Five stars. So steamy and I started to really be on team Henry. So I'm settling on 4 stars. I love Margo and I'm actually excited to finish out this series now.

the aneurysm i developed reading books 1-2 finally ruptured while reading this

nothing says “im the biggest piece of shit” than the hero watching a couple have sex (while sitting RIGHT next to the heroine) and him getting a hard on while the woman says his name

“Henry…,” she purrs, her seductive eyes locked on his as she says something to him in French, a “please” slipping through her lips with a slight moan at the end.
He doesn’t respond but he doesn’t break eye contact with her—her eyes, her breasts, where Joel is joined with her—his jaw tensing. His entire body tensing, his fingers tightening on me almost to the point of pain.
I feel like I’m not even here.

did i mention he once fucked the woman he’s watching

“You want to fuck her, admit it!” I hiss. I should be embarrassed, having this conversation in front of the driver, but whether it’s my emotions or the alcohol—probably both—I can’t control the words spewing from my mouth.

A condescending smirk twists his lips.

THE SMIRK?! NO I WOULD ACTUALLY BE SENT TO PRISON FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER 🧍🏻‍♀️

meanwhile, when a man even looks at the heroine, he’s trying to ruin their life.

guys, it’s okay tho!! according to the hero, it’s justified because “even a gay man would be attracted to that woman 🤓☝🏻”oh bless you henry! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 i’m so sorry for ever wishing you ill intent!! please accept my sincerest apology…i forgot i was dealing with an UGLY MANWHORE

the real cherry on top is the heroine was only mad for .01 seconds. only a woman with zero brain cells would ever accept this find of behavior so it only makes sense! 👍🏻

I will not be continuing this series.

I didn’t like book 1 , book 2 was slightly better and book 3 is down right ridiculous.

Nothing and I mean NOTHING feels more like a ice cold bucket of water than have a scene where you boyfriend gets hard watching another woman having public sex with her boyfriend while his now girlfriend is right THERE with him. And to top it off the woman says HIS name and murmur something in French which he answers while HIS FUCKING GIRLFRIEND doesn’t speak French and has no idea what they said to each other……..
And this is just the beginning of my anger towards the book. This starts out nice, you think that you will finally having a emotional connection and beautiful relationship between Henry and Abby. But no, pretty fast this becomes a Henry always prioritizing his job over Abby and Abby being berated by her super conservative religious IMPOSSIBLE mother. Yes he gives expensive gifts to her and appears there out of nowhere but not enough to make you swoon. Jed still there swearing he loves Abby and is waiting for her despite the fact she tells him and everyone that she WONT go back to him and we learn that he is in fact NOT waiting like the hypocritical pastor son he is. I feel like Abby needed to grow up and confront her mother. I disagree with most reviews here that kept criticizing her for been jealous and insecure. I want to know a single blood red woman that would not be insecure having a relationship with a Playboy gorgeous Billionaire who OPENLY flirt with models and actress and says all the time that he is IN business with women he previously had sex with, plus he is allover the world and there are pictures of him with “other women” popping up and he is ALWAYS with his hand on the “lower back” of the woman ….. plus he never openly admits she is HIS girlfriend and never said he loves her. ALSO every time he sees a sexual something happening he “gets hard” and says he likes AND refuses to comfort or apologize to Abby. The DOUBLE STANDARDS and THE NERVE of some people reviewing this book and calling Abby jealous, naive and insecure and NOT criticizing him is MIND BLOWING to me. I want to see the same energy in anger towards him and not her. Let me say that she is not a good character either. This series for sure is only famous because of the smut and I am the first to say I LOVE a smutty dirty book, but I NEED plot, story, I NEED a possessive faithful man who will do anything and everything for the woman INCLUDING PUTTING HER FIRST. Fuck all this stupidity, I come to fiction because the men in fiction are supposed to be better and not just the same as we have in real life. Hated !

Reread #2:
And that kids, is how I fell in love with your father.

--
Re-read #1 - listened on Audible:
What do I love as much as the Henry-Abbi relationship, you ask?
The Abbi-Ronan and Abbi-Margo-Henry friendships it is.

This is like a 4.5 read - 5 listen ✨
--
It is hard to rate this book as a separate entity from the rest of the series. I am settling on 4, though sometimes it feels like 5

First off, Abbi and Henry officially made it to my list of favourite fictional couples (which is a very short one, truly). 🥈
PS: They still are!

This was so sexy, so real, and so realistic.
I am enjoying this journey so much, and this book was an essential part of Abbi's growth specifically. She faced her insecurities and peer pressure, and she came on top.
The character who was inexperienced really shows maturity and authenticity to her throughout this book.

Henry is worth peeling his layers bit by bit throughout the entire series.
I like that these books are told from one point of view. In many places, it hits close to home. Seeing her POV alone allowed me to connect more deeply with her and appreciate Henry more.

This is so worth it, and the first 74% are worth enduring the frustration (not because she's bad, but the peer pressure is horrible) to witness the growth and intimacy of these 2 together.

They both work so good together, and they're perfect for each other.

Oh boy. Not going to lie I was not a fan of this one. It drug on forever and felt so pointless. I missed them being in Alaska and found Abbi being back home so boring. Plus her mom was so ANNOYING! Even the sexy moments felt meh and lacking emotion. I just wasn't a fan of this one.

I did like that we saw a slightly sweeter (at time) side to Henry. But I'm ready for him to talk about his emotions! I'm hoping the next book is better though since maybe she'll be with Henry more. Also, I oddly missed Connor and Ronan. This one just felt SO different.

3.5 Grotto Kiss Stars ⭐
Spicy Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5

This is book 3... There are spoilers in this for the previous books... so read with caution...but know this is a very predictable story with some spice, so I don't think the spoilers are too "shocking"

So our dear old lovebirds are back together again. Now they have to deal with the struggles of a long-distance relationship because Abby has been thrust back into her small-town podunk world after her father's accident...only this time having a billionaire in tow.

This continues to feel like the vibes of taking the mentality of people from Hart of Dixie and mixing it with Gossip Girl. There is small-town gossip, an overbearing mother-hen who wants to run her daughter's life like she wants to... (Gosh I hate that woman) and just general absurd drama where Abbi continues to find herself walking in on people having sex...

I felt like I enjoyed this one a little bit more than book 2 because I am finally starting to know our characters. Abbi struggles a lot with her relationship insecurities in this novel and the plot continues to play into the themes of miscommunication and assumptions.

It honestly felt like Henry had a teleportation machine... For a busy businessman with a girl who is halfway across the country (and sometimes the world) he finds a way to be with her in her little town VERY OFTEN and VERY QUICKLY... He's very much a man of little words and from my perspective, very much an arrogant asshole. He is still closed off on his feelings and very much the type of man to play into the "I obviously care about you as I keep buying you things and taking care of you". I wanted him to start talking and open up a bit more. But through his actions, you can see that he does actually care for Abbi. It's probably that no one has ever actually told him or taught him how to love that he doesn't know how to deal with his feelings.

Abbi is racking up A LOT of experience. For someone who a couple of months ago was a virgin, to have not only slept with multiple people but also had a throuple, watched people have sex multiple times and had a girl go down on her with her boyfriend holding her hair... It really leans into the title of "Teach Me".

Considering I inhaled this book and am diving directly into book 4, I would say I enjoyed it! It's entertaining and basically trashy spicy popcorn that I can't get enough of.

book 3 felt unnecessary (and book 2 honestly). it really only served to make me dislike both MCs a little more. henry wants to call abbi insecure when she’s jealous that her boyfriend is constantly working with women he’s slept with previously but he wants to fire any man who looks at her?

also, so much body shaming in this book. don’t get me wrong, the FMC’s mom is terrible and sl*t shames her daughter but like this was a LOT of body shaming. a female bartender is described as “about 25 pounds too heavy” 🥴

giving this a pass only because the character deserved it and this was written in 2016 but book 4 better pull out a miracle

Wolf Prey was an exercise in frustration from pretty much start to finish.

If it wasn’t an overbearing mother, a foiled sexual encounter or an ex-boyfriend who refuses to get the message… It was Abby being insecure. For me, the sign of a good book is whether it can make you feel something. And Wolf Prey certainly did that. And then some.

I cannot fault Nina West on her writing. She touches on some pretty important subjects such as religion, the role of women and daughter, materialism and slut shaming. Abby has grown up some and she certainly has grown enough of a spine to stand up for herself and her relationship with Henry. I appreciated the fact that she wasn’t quite so innocent and naïve anymore but there were still a few times when her childishness and insecurities peaked through.

Her sexual awakening continues in this third book and it certainly made for some hot times that had me holding my breath! I have loved the whole voyeurism and exhibitionism angle that has been carried through this entire series and I certainly wasn’t disappointed by it this time. We get to see a little more of a softer, sweeter side of Henry in this book without him losing any of his mystery and the briskness that makes him so sexy.

All in all I finished this book in one sitting an before I knew it, I was in the last 90% of this book. And here is the reason for me taking away a star. I was so ready for Henry and Abby to finally settle into their HEA, but it seems the author has more in store for us with a fourth book. I really wish I knew that going in. Even so, I look forward to seeing Abby grow more in the next instalment.

Dark Erotica Buddy Read Cont.
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

The first half was a 3 star read for me.
The writing is amazing but I was so over Jed and he mother's crap.

Then the Biker Bar happens.
And Omg be still my Ovaries! Everything picked up and blasted me like an inferno!
The last half was closer to 5 Stars for me.

So I think I will settle on this being in between 3 & 4 Stars.

One thing for sure, I have found a new favorite author!!

Just get through the first half!! I'll be better from there.

LOL, this series suffers from bad first halves of the books 2 and 3. Because if I thought the previous one was dramatic, this one just blew my mind with all the drama llama. Jeez, there are no words for me to describe it. Just some absolute delusional craziness, I was skimming like mad because there is no way so much can happen to one person in the shortest amount of time.

What I appreciated were the little glimpses of small town life through the perspective of a person "who got away".
Like when Abbi mentioned some of her acquaintances from school who were "happy to do this or that" while the heroine wondered if those things were actually what those people wanted or what "they were told to want".  It made me think of the families in small towns who don't give their daughters any opportunities and withhold any support, basically trapping them in the family businesses because it is cheap and convenient.

And the rest of it was wonderful. I loved the relationship development between Abbi and Henry, little glimpses of their growth. This part of the series was something like "let's look at this couple in the heroine's natural habitat" and it did well even if totally over the top at times.

Thank you, Rain, for the best conversations this whole series sparked!!

I so wanted to love this series. So much so I binged the first 3 books in a day. But here I am at the end of book 3 still loathing Abbi and only half loving Henry.

Henry was perfect at the beginning of this book, the story was great, he and Abbi trying to overcome her mom’s adverse reaction to their relationship was fun to read. I love how her dad supported her wholeheartedly and how Jed was seething throughout.

What I hated though was the introduction to Margot, and her harem. If I’d known that was where the books were going I would have bowed out earlier. But I didn’t so here I am.

I’m leaving this series here as the reviews for the last book have put me off even more so. I loved the first book and am so disappointed it wasn’t what I was expecting. Henry Wolf had such potential to be a high ranking book billionaire boyfriend!!

Note to self, read the reviews next time.

two stars! ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ me rn: what happened to the original plot of the movie?

like, be so for real. what is the point of this? abbi is literally so gullible and untrusting, henry is such a piece of shit, their relationship is built solidly on lust and that’s about it. literally was like love at first sight for abbi. also, the ungodly amount of body-shaming for abbi’s mom is really disappointing. also just the body-shaming in general, with describing a couple characters as “twenty-five pounds too heavy” and whatnot. like why??

this shit is entertaining as hell though, unfortunately, so i will be finishing this series. but jesus.

Besties, this is a ROLLERCOASTER! And I NEVER want to get off. This series is so addicting.

This series is seriously such a rollercoaster in the best possible way. Just when you think that maybe Henry and Abbi will be able to catch a break and just be with one another, they hit another road block. So what road blocks are they facing in Teach Me? Well there is a laundry list that includes: long distance, different time zones, different lifestyles, an ex boyfriend who is like a leech, a mama who will literally fake a heart attack to prevent these two from being together and lastly, Abby's jealousy and insecurity plays a big part of this book.

Like the previous books, my boy Henry makes it hard for me to like him at times. Like I get it, Abby's insecurity and inexperience can be annoying but he does nothing to help her feel like he actually wants to be with her at times. But then he will be really sweet like fly in for the night when she doesn't answer her phone. Like I've never met an MMC who makes me swoon and want to karate chop him in the throat at the same time. Good think he dicks our girl into next tuesday, is hot AF and is also a billionaire. If he didn't have those things going for him, I would be telling Abbi to ditch his ass and take the next flight to Alaska to be with Ronan.

Now let's talk about Mama Mitchell. Why is she so awful? Like this woman is relentless. Like we get it, your girl is a little hussy but she's happy and in love. Let the girl live! And she needs to give up on the fact that her little girl is going to be with the reverends son who is sticking his dick in everyone he sees because he has needs 🙄 Luckily Jed has gotten the point.

Lastly, the spice 🥵 Like not only is our girl a little voyeur, but she also likes to be watched. She's really blossoming and flourishing. Two scenes that will live rent free: that truck scene (clearly our girl has a thing for fucking in trucks) and the grotto scene 🥵 That grotto scene where there was some girl on girl action was HOT AF

Ok I'm running immediately to start the next book. At this point, I can't stop, won't stop til I make it to the end. I have been running a marathon to see these two finally communicate and a had a happily ever after. Ok tootles, I'm off to find out what road block were gonna run into next :)

*3.5* This third book in the series was W E I R D. There's so much angsty back-and-forth between the H and the h, lots of voyeuristic sex, some awkward backdoor car sex, and one brief but intimate FF scene. Unlike other erotica where it's just sex sex sex, this series has a beautiful love story intertwined. Which almost feels the opposite of a sexual coming of age journey, but it's done in such a way that it doesn't feel overly cringy. I will say it certainly pushed my book relationships boundaries a few times!! Is this really this romantic?

Abbi's family drama is ott and utterly ridiculous. It felt out of place in the story, but it also fit the drama lama aspect. This book alone is a complete disaster, and I wouldn't recommend it, however as part of the series it somehow works. Hey, there's no cheating in this so that's a plus.

Drama, drama, and more fucking drama. I don’t know why this series is so addicting, but i’m high key loving it even tho it’s low key ridiculous lol.

Henry still doesn’t really know what he wants. He maybe clarifies it a bit at the end, but it’s been 3 books and y’all still are just ‘seeing where things go’ it makes me laugh.

Abbi goes through shit this entire book, but she finally pushes back which was good. She does things for herself and lets Henry spoil her as she should. They had some good fucking spice scenes and it was just a really enjoyable read. Onto the last book!

This book started off with a 1.52 star rating, but as it went on, it earned that extra half star by the second half of the book. Teach Me just annoyed and infuriated me to no end. 😖 this installment feels like a step back for the series.

One of the main issues I had was the character development of Abbi, while she has had some character growth over the series and, let’s say, some experience in a short space of time 😉. Her insecurities resurface time and time again and remain a constant source of frustration for me as it didn’t feel like it was real or could be relatable.

The other issue I had was to create tension; this book relies solely on the miscommunication/no communication trope, which is one of the worst tropes in my opinion. It feels tired and predictable.

Additionally, the conflict between Abbi and her mother is excessive, which also extends to the community's perception. I so can’t stand the mother! Henry is trying so hard, and it was difficult to read, especially with the misogynistic attitudes and gossip.

Despite a satisfying and exciting ending to the book, the issues from the first half of the book created a negative overtone and took away from the positives. I’m excited to see where this series goes next, and I seriously hope it’s a redeeming book. Like, can we pretend this one never happened?

I'm not convinced by the romance side of this series.

I swear to god, this man. He sights when she tells him she loves him, and he smirks when she's all insecure about another woman. He wants them to communicate but then he tells her a half-truth hidden under the famous "But you didn't ask." because she's naïve enough to think that if she asks, he'll tell her everything. The whole situation with the French OW was so unnecessary. He knows she's insecure and jealous, but never thought telling her beforehand what happened with this woman was relevant? Especially since she seems to love to have sex in front of people. And her. I have nothing precise to yap about, she was just still a naïve little girl, with no backbone. I blindly expected some growth from her, and I was just disappointed. Both of them are the worst.

I can't say I'm really seeing the romance part of their relationship. It feels way too sexual. The distance is not helping, but I don't know why he's into her (still not having his POV and instead, having an insecure and inexperienced FMC's POV is really not helping) and she just seems emotional dependent of him. Their relationship is still not healthy at all, he's too dismissive of her feelings (might they be valid or not, idgaf) and if he really not has the time for this kind of relationship with this kind of 'insecure little girl' then he should just let her go. And she's not better, she's clearly not ready for this relationship, she needs to grow up as a person. She doesn't know what to do with her life, what to think but she knows she just wants to follow him everywhere? That's not a life goal, girl.

I also don't understand why there's so much group sex. It could have been toned down. I get it, it's their kink, but chill out.

I'm not even finished with this series, but I can tell you, after their HEA, there will be a divorce, I'm sure of it.

Update: I won't finish this series, I'm so annoyed.

This book starts off with the FMC, whose dad suffered a near-fatal accident at the end of book 2 where everyone was convinced he wouldn’t making it, finding out that her dad just got out of surgery and she should go see him and how he’s recovering immediately.

Except she doesn’t want to go yet because she wants to spend more time making out with her boyfriend.

I’m not kidding. This is literally on the first page of the book:

I really should get out of the car and go in there. Jed texted about an hour ago to tell me that my dad was awake. I do really want to see him.
But going in there means leaving Henry, something I’m just not ready to do.

Let me tell you, I freaking CACKLED at this. It’s so ridiculous.

And yet it didn’t stop me from reading. 😂😂😂😂 And giving it three stars. 😂😂😂😂 Again, I was entertained, so idgaf. (What even are standards?)

Also, this girl accidentally happens upon so many sex parties and threesomes that I’m beginning to wonder how anyone gets anything done in this world.

So this is the book I like the least in this series for sure. Though it's still enjoyable enough to keep going and it's a quick read.

Abbi is back at home and we learn more about her in this book + her relationship w her parents (including her v controlling mother...). Some people in her hometown are so annoying it took away some enjoyment from me especially since most of this book is all that.

There are a few scenes with Henry and Abbi and I liked those the best. It was cute seeing Henry in her hometown helping out and seeing him making more of an effort.
