“One night. No strings attached. We do the kinkiest things we can think of and we never talk about them again.”
What do you say when your half-naked best friend approaches you with the craziest suggestion you’ve ever heard in your life? You certainly don’t entertain the idea. And you certainly don’t come up with a list of do’s and don’ts for the night that is never going to happen.
My best friend, Harry Parker Huntington, wants us to make a one night pact. He’s a playboy, hellbent on never settling down and I’m a tomboy ready to change my image. All of our lives, he’s been able to convince me to join in on disastrous schemes and plans that always seem to blow up in my face. But he says this one is foolproof.
We’ll be at his parents’ house for Christmas and as Harry says, “what happens at my parents’ house stays at my parents’ house.” I’m not sure it’s the best idea he’s ever had, but he always did have a way of making me say yes, to just about everything.
This gets one star for the story which actually is a good story but - where is the editor? All the typos, grammatical errors, wrong words and repetition were really difficult to wade through. The last 5(?) Chapters are not even formatted properly. Was this book written by some weird Software writing program? The age thing was also strange - Sarah is 25 and tells us Harry is 3 years older; then Harry tells us he is 25. They have been best friends since the early years of their lives which is hard to comprehend that kids with that age difference (toddlers or early elementary kids) would even notice each other. And the voices/ dialogue between the two protagonists sounded like 16-17 year olds until halfway through the book.
Such a great storyline! I love J. S. Cooper❤️ Her books are fun and interesting with great characters. This is an angsty book, Harry! He is a rich future CEO of a multimillion dollar company. He always wants Sarah to do things for him. Sarah also comes from a multi million dollar family. But she is sweet and naive. Her bff Gemma, oh I love Gemma! Harry and Sarah consider themselves best friends. This is a slow burn romance and it’s worth waiting for them to realize what they are to each other. There were some Lol moments and awkward ones as well. But this is such an addictive book! The love scenes are hott 🔥🔥 and the ending was a great one. I just realized she never adds an Epilogue to her books. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and everyone!
This is book one in The One Night series and it is Harry and Sarah's story. Sarah and Harry have been best friends since childhood and Harry always seems to get Sarah to do things for him and she has never been able to say no but when he asks her to buy Christmas presents for his three lady friends she decides to teach him a lesson. When Harry asks Sarah to do a one night last with him she thinks that it is the worst thing that he could have come up with as it could completely destroy there friendship between them but will she say yes or no. Harry is a true playboy and he has no intention of ever changing that or settling down as he loves to play the field and the only constant in his life is Sarah who is his best friend. Sarah is a tomboy but now she wants to change so that she can find a boyfriend so her friend Gemma is going to help her get a makeover but how will it all go. I loved the connection between Harry and Sarah as it was so strong and when there chemistry kicks in you could feel it sizzling of the pages of the book. Omg I absolutely loved this story and I laughed so much with all there back and forth banter and the talks that took place between them and I couldn't put this book down as I had to see what the next conversation would be between them and I was definitely not disappointed. J.S. Cooper is an amazing author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will definitely not be disappointed as she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and also entertained and her books are so addictive that they pull you in right from the page. I Voluntarily Reviewed an Arc Copy of this Amazing Book.
I was not impressed and I usually enjoy this author’s work. I was confused through many parts of the books and left with questions. Initially Sarah spoke about being able to get a job with her old professor in London. Then different times in the book she spoke about needing a contract either through her best friend’s brother or father. For Harry to want to take over a multi-billion dollar company he acted really immature when Sarah was talking to a key person to a business venture that his father was working. Also for Sarah to have money she has never been made up and then overnight she is just no longer frumpy and what happened to her glasses. She mentioned getting the lasik surgery soon but no mention that it happened. These two characters were 25 not 35 and the constant immaturity was shown. Also in didn’t understand how he didn’t know what the gifts were when it was his card that purchased them and he didn’t need receipts. Harry’s father was rude to someone he has known all her life. There were misspelled words like and reading as snd. This was a waste of $3.99.
"One Night Pact" (The One Night Series Book 1) by J.S. Cooper is a good read. I enjoyed Harry and Sarah's story. This is a nice start to this series. This story has romance, passion, humor, friends to lovers, family, millionaires, drama, and more. I'm looking forward to reading what happens next in this series. Recommend to fans of romance, friends to lovers, and series.
Sarah and Harry are best friends and she’s always helping him clean up his messes that result in hilarious banter. These two had the funniest interactions which made me giggle like a kid throughout most of the book! Loved these two
Harry and Sarah have been best friends since they were kids. Their mother’s are best friends. Can these two remain best friends when they discover that they are both seeing each other in a new light? Great banter between the two.

This is book one of the One Night series. It appears the series will follow the five Huntington brothers. Alexander Parker Huntington is CEO of Huntington Enterprises, a NYC-based manufacturer of toys and childcare products, and father to five very eligible bachelors. Harry, Ethan, Jack, Dylan, and Joshua all live an easy playboy lifestyle thanks to their trust funds.
One Night Pact, book one, is Harry’s story. He is the youngest of the Huntington brothers. Book two, One Night Mistake, will be Ethan’s story.
Fans of It’s Complicated, a standalone, will note that Harry and Sarah are introduced in that story. Gemma Doukas is Sarah’s best girlfriend. The pair met while working on their masters degrees in history. In It’s Complicated, Gemma signs up with a dating app in hopes of getting a boyfriend by Christmas. Lucas and Connor are both strong candidates, but choosing between the two proves difficult. It’s Complicated and One Night Pact largely take place simultaneously, leading up to the Christmas season. Note the timelines do not appear to match up precisely. When read separately, though, this fact is negligible. IN THIS BOOK:
Harry Parker Huntington, twenty-five, doesn’t see himself getting married. He is an avowed playboy and happy with his life. He may be the youngest of the Huntington clan, but his brothers have no interest in the family business. He works for his father at Huntington Enterprises, where he is being groomed to one day take over as CEO. Harry enjoys the work and is happy to take the reins, but his father periodically has a talk with him about his public image. According to his father, it isn’t in line with a man that might one day be CEO of a toy company. Harry is pictured with a steady string of women on his arm and doesn’t see the need to make any changes, despite what his father says. He currently has three ladies that he calls on to accompany him to business functions and dinners. Whenever he narrows his list to one, certain expectations inevitably get in the way. It seems none of the women he dates understand that his best friend will always come first. If only Sarah didn’t refuse to attend business functions with him, his life would be so much more simple.
He and Sarah have been best friends since childhood. The Huntingtons and Caddingtons are family friends, and their mothers are also best friends. Harry and Sarah see one another almost daily, and talk and text in between. Harry cannot imagine life without his best friend – he relies on her for everything. She is always willing to go along with whatever he dreams up. She speaks her mind freely, though, and they have some interesting exchanges. Fortunately for him, Sarah isn’t dating now, but he has every expectation that when she eventually gets married, her husband will understand the Sarah’s best friend comes first.
Sarah Caddington, twenty-five, loves British history. Her frumpy look reflects her interest in academics – and her lack of interest in fashion. She recently earned her masters degree and hopes to find a job soon. While she could easily fall back on her trust fund, or make her parents happy by eventually taking over Caddington Enterprises, she wants to be independent and find a purpose in life. Her best girlfriend Gemma already landed a job at the Natural Museum of History and Science, so Sarah is beginning to the feel the pressure. The best place for her job search would be London – and she has a connection to the British Museum there – but she doesn’t see herself leaving everything she knows behind.
Harry may be her best friend, but he has a knack of trying Sarah’s nerves. Gemma keeps telling Sarah that her relationship with Harry is toxic. Unlike Harry, Sarah dreams of one day getting married and having a family. Gemma blames Harry for Sarah’s light dating history and thinks Harry walks all over her. According to Gemma, Sarah doesn’t have a chance at a serious relationship with Harry in her life. He uses his key to her apartment to come and go as he pleases, and their lives are intertwined. Moreover, Harry has no need for a serious girlfriend with Sarah in the picture. He uses her to lean on, but lavishes other women with his affection.
When Harry decides he is too busy to buy Christmas gifts for his three lady friends, he insists Sarah do the shopping for him. She might try to say no to him, but Harry always gets his way. There really is no saying no to him. Gemma’s words begin to sink in, though, and Sarah suddenly becomes rebellious. She starts to take stock of her life and begins the process of moving forward. But as Harry begins to see her as the woman she has become as opposed to just the friend he confesses all his secrets to, the pair must weigh the risk of ruining their lifelong friendship against the growing chemistry they can no longer ignore. Harry suggests a one night pact – a night of passion and fun over the holidays – to get it all out of their system and then go back to normal. Things go a little awry, though. Things get complicated and there are a few surprises along the way. Harry, too, has to find his way once he realizes that he is in over his head. The couple eventually earns a happy ending. There are some amazing laugh out loud moments in this zany romantic comedy. Harry and Sarah are both a bit on the crazy side – and together things can get out of control. Harry’s narcissism is epic. He suffers from foot in the mouth disease, yet he has almost no self-awareness. He is constantly insulting Sarah in a backhanded way. Be forewarned – snowflakes might take offense! Harry is selfish and rude. Sarah is shy and innocent. Together they are fun and carefree. They argue like an old married couple and are the only ones who don’t see their relationship as a little weird. There are some serious moments as well, though. Their story is a slow burn and requires a bit of patience because this couple is very stubborn! It does come together in a beautiful and teary end.
A few issues merit mention (updated editions may make these notes obsolete). First, Huntington Enterprises is once referenced to as Huntington Corporation. Next, there is confusion as to Harry’s age. He is either twenty-eight or twenty-five. Though the author has since updated it to eliminate the confusion and reflect Harry’s age as twenty-five, my copy still has this issue. If you experience the same problem when reading, just ignore anything indicating Harry being three years older than Sarah. Third, there are some issues with both Sarah’s and Harry’s parents that creep up and are never addressed. Though not necessary, it would be great to have some closure.
Lifetime best friends Harry and Sarah suddenly find love in this hilarious and zany romantic comedy. The story is nicely written. There are some editing issues in the initial release, though. The story is a bit heavy on dialogue. The plot is fairly simple. The characters are hilarious. Harry is shallow and pompous, and he walks all over Sarah – but she lets him. Despite her demeanor, she has a bit of troublemaker in her, too. They are too comfortable in their status quo to move on in life. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Harry and Sarah. I rate this book four stars.
This book was cute. I love the best friends to lovers trope so always have a soft spot for these. The chemistry and tension between Harry and Sarah was spot on. I loved Harry’s cheeky naughtiness and how he seemed to bring it out of Sarah too. It was a slow burn at the start but it’s to be expected and definitely worked for the story. I had to knock a star off because whilst the story was great there were a fair few typos and grammatical errors. If it’s the occasional one it doesn’t tend to bother me but especially towards the end of the book there seemed to be more and more and it was throwing me out of the story every time. At one particular point I think around page 264 they were getting a bit steamy, and then a line of random directions was appearing - like turn left at so and so Boulevard ... and then the story would carry on as if it wasn’t there. I’m not sure if it was dictated whilst driving in a car and it was picking up the occasional sat nav directions. That happened about 3 or 4 times in that general section, and I couldn’t understand what that was about at all!! It was a little off putting and made it a bit hard to get really into.
When you realize your best friend is more. by and 1515
Apparently my best friend is here to play on my feelings yet again. Some how I've become his got to patsy; instead of dealing with his own business he's dumping it in my lap. Sarah truly couldn't comprehend how her best friend thought it was anywhere acceptable to play fast and loose with other women's feeling just because he enjoyed acting like a dirty dog who could careless about there feelings. Well tis the season of joy and I'm about to teach my best friend a truly valuable lesson that he'll never forget. There's a reason I'll never attended any of those functions he gets roped into attending? Because people would totally get the wrong idea like my parents and then their his whole family. Yeah my dear old dad just pulled the rug out from under this season. He's seriously insane choose just one of them? Yeah right then they'll probably get the wrong idea. Disaster was the sinking of that famous luxary ship and nope this was far worse and my best friend whom I trusted did this to me. Well two can play that game and I know exactly what will drive her crazy. Clearly I've made quite an error in judgement and maybe even my own sanity but seriously didn't she realize that darn thing she had on left very little to anyone's imagination and all the other dirty hounds are starring at her. From the moment Sarah decided to have her famous makeover now she was driving me to distractions. But when you've been each other's best friends since forever is really smart to tempt fate? Yet should you ignore what ever attraction going on between you; hope it disappears? Or should you stop being foolish and go for what you want? Sarah was done with the continued misses and all the near hits nope clearly she'd have to be the one to take them to the next level. Okay so acting like a bunch of horny teens or maybe being stuck in quite an awkward position? Or the fact they say easedropers never hear anything good and oh wow were they were right. Then while I'm trying to appease my wounded spirit everyone is storming my door step and then have the nerve to look hurt when I insist they all get out. Sarah really left; she's now in London of all places and I'm the biggest fool and yeah I may be late to the game. But that doesn't mean I'm out.
I received this ebook ARC from the author on the condition that I write an honest review. Harry is a wealthy playboy, and serial dater. He dates several women at one time, but has no desire to bed them. Instead he would rather spend time with his best friend Sarah. Sarah is also wealthy, but is more conservative. She lives alone, and would rather watch TV in her bedroom, than go out clubbing or drinking. Harry and Sarah have been best friends since childhood. This friendship continues into their twenties, but things are about to change. Harry constantly asks Sarah to do things for him, like asking her to buy Christmas gifts for his women. She is tired of his abuse of their friendship, and rebels by buying gag gifts for the young women. Sarah decides to change her life around, and has a makeover. This makes her feel better about herself, and more outgoing. This change causes Harry to realize how beautiful she actually is, and he begins to have different feelings for her. Eventually they begin a relationship, but outside family forces try to destroy this relationship. After surviving a separation, Harry follows Sarah to England to admit his true feelings for her, and they finally obtain their HEA. I’ve read several books written by J. S. Cooper, and they never fail to entertain me with a good flow to the story, and great characters. I always recommend her books.
Harry and Sarah’s parents are best friends so Harry and Sarah grew up doing almost everything together. As adults, they are still best friends spend most of their time with each other. Harry has grown complacent with Sarah’s presence in his life and takes advantage of their friendship quite a bit but Sarah has had enough. With the help of her best female friend, Sarah gets a make-over and is learning to stand up for herself more. When things begin to heat up between Harry and Sarah, will they be able to have one night together and still remain best friends?
Loved reading Sarah and Harry’s story. Although Harry is an arrogant successful businessman, he does have a heart and he truly cares for Sarah. This a story of two friends finding their way in life. I enjoyed “seeing” Sarah’s transformation into a more confident woman who goes for what she wants in life. I did feel that Gemma’s character (her best female friend) was not as strong in this book but on the whole it is another great love story.
I received a free copy of this book from the author. I am voluntarily leaving a review which is my opinion alone.
I Loved it ! A very enjoyable and compelling read by J.S Cooper,I adore her writing and witty stories and this is no exception. Harry and Sarah are best friends and nothing inappropriate has ever happened between them, until Harry begins to look at Sarah in a whole new light. She has always been a tomboy type so when she decides she wants a makeover so she can start dating. She goes from tomboy to a Beautiful, sexy hot woman and Harry takes notice. This is when things start to get interesting, theres an attraction between them and the dilemma is should they act on it. I Loved Harry and Sarah's easy connection they were so comfortable with eachother and their chemistry is explosive. J.S Cooper has wriiten a perfect emotional best friends to lovers romcom, with wonderful characters that have delightful funny banter which made me smile. Another addictive, humourous, smart and sexy book by J.S Cooper which I highly recommend.. Magnificent 5 Stars.
You'll love Harry and Sally's story. It's fun, it's humorous, it crazy and ever so sexy. Best friends since childhood raised almost as siblings since their mother's were always besties. Sarah loved the gorgeous playboy like a brother. She was always best 'tomboy' Sarah. But my oh my what happens when she does a glamour makeover. Wow, Harry's eyes did a pop-out. Gorgeous is an understatement and he saw Sarah in a whole new light. The book is written from a dual POV which lets you know what each are thinking and feeling. This was a really cute book and as usual I'm never disapointed by J.S. Cooper. Her books are always fun to read and usually make my day. The chemistry was strong but a little toned down because of their best friend 'friendship'. A great best friends to lovers relationship. I rad an arc via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
BFF’s to BFF’s with benefits to ???... well… it gets complicated!
Harry and Sarah have been best friends since they were kids. They have a routine to their friendship with benefits of their friendship always going in Harry’s favor. Harry takes his tomboy BFF Sarah for granted. Sarah is going to teach Harry a lesson with his latest favor. Maybe then he will stop taking her for granted.
Sarah needs to make decisions for her career and her love life. So, first thing is giving into a makeover.
Harry is finally noticing his BFF has grown into a beautiful woman. So, of course, after some lines are crossed… he offers Sarah a pact.
It’s a fun story and have been looking forward to reading their story since they were introduced in the “It’s Complicated” book.
Even if you haven’t read the previous book, this story is a fun standalone read. Enjoy! 😊
This is a best friends to lovers story that is as much comedy as romance. Sarah and Harry have been best friends since childhood and their friendship has grown along with them. They are sweet, silly and so comfortable with one another and you can't help but notice that there is love between them, too. Harry is a playboy and is seen with a different woman on his arm almost daily. There are three that he's been dating who he asks to attend family and business events with him. If only Sarah would consent to go with him, but she's afraid to break their friendship. When Harry asks Sarah to take his credit card and buy Christmas gifts for the three women he's dating, she goes crazy! Those gifts and the cards...payback! I really did like the story and the characters were endearing, relatable and quirky!
Sarah and Harry have been best friends the majority of their lives and their mothers are also best friends. They may hang out, have fun, share a bed sometimes, and bicker like crazy, but they have never crossed the line. That is until now! How will it affect their friendship?
Written from both Sarah and Harry’s point of view, you get insight into how they feel about each other and their relationship. I like how Sarah stands up for what she wants in life (at least when it comes to a job) and she calls Harry out for being a selfish friend.
Witty, fun and romantic, this is another five star book from Ms. Cooper.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily giving an honest review for no compensation
From besties to forever Sarah and Harry had been the best of friends since they were children. Their parents were friends so they spent a lot of time together. When they became young adults they had made no significant change in their relationship; however, Harry was enjoying the company of other women. She dreamed of going to London and working and researching in one of their extensive libraries. How will they handle the separation? Will they finally acknowledge that they “might” have strong feelings for each other? Terrific characters and a well-written story bring you into their world for a truly enjoyable experience. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I received this book as an ARC copy from the author. This is my complete and honest opinion.
I previously met Sarah in “It’s Complicated” and love that I now got to read her story.
Sarah is a sweetheart, but she’s also clueless. Her best friend, Harry, takes advantage of her. What Harry doesn’t know is that Sarah is in love with him, but he needs to change his ways if he’s to ever get a chance with Sarah. That is until the make the One Night Pact is made. They can’t get enough of each other.
But what if one night isn’t enough. What if the outside world they try to keep out begins to interfere with their private time together? Will Harry just keep using Sarah and never see her for who she is? Or will he see her for everything she is before it’s too late?
There were quite some things I absolutely loved here. Firstly, the best friends relationship between Sarah and Harry is what real friendship is like. Secondly, I liked how it wasn't a typical bestfriends to lovers but one where the equation of selflessness was imbalanced. Thirdly, how the events didn't stick as they were decided. Even though the author already gave us a hint of what will separate them, it didn't happen that way.
I feel the ending could have been better or different. The ending was a bit... plain I guess.
Also, there were quite some many errors; grammatically and word wise which the editor(s) totally skipped.
Leaving the errors aside, this was an okayish to good read.
4.5 Stars for One Night Pact ( The One Night Series #1) This is book one in the series that follows the Huntington brothers and this is the youngest sibling Harry Huntington and Sara Caddington’s friends to lovers romance. Harry’s reputation is all about a man not looking to settle down, but if he is going to take over the family business he needs to prove to his father he is worthy and happy to find love. Sara has always been in his life but up until now she was only a friend so what happens when Harry starts to see her in a very different light and will this couple go from friends to lovers without a hitch...... The witty is banter and flows naturally, the chemistry is sizzling but will this couple find love or ruin the friendship that means so much to both of them.
Here is another delightful romance by J.S. Cooper! We met Harry and Sarah in "It's complicated", and I loved the promise of a good story! Harry is arrogant and has a special relationship with Sarah: they're best friends! Sarah had a crush on Harry, but he never showed any romantic interest, so she decided to keep the friendship and find someone else to love. At the same time, Harry realises that Sarah is all grown up, a beautiful girl, and he wants more than a friendship! They have such a crazy, funny, hot relationship, and it will be a real delight to see how they will discover their HEA! I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this book, I’m not normally into rom com but this was quirky and sweet. There was a lot of wtf moments and a lot of laughs, all in all thoroughly entertaining. The characters were well thought out and I felt Jaime did a good job of really helping the reader to appreciate the emotions the main characters Sarah and Harry were experiencing as they navigated there feelings and realised that they were actually made for each other. If you are looking for a light hearted read with some depth, humour and a bit of spice then this is for you. I was given this as an ARC by the author in exchange for a voluntary honest review which I was totally happy to provide.
A rather special friendship 4.5 It's a very good romance, very well written, hot and fascinating, with a special friendship in the sense that you wouldn't necessarily like having a best friend like Harry. At first, it is difficult to appreciate him (and this for a long time in the story) because he is egocentric and selfish, with no hindsight between his actions and the consequences on Sarah's life his best friend. This is also why I liked this story which has a slow rise to build this awareness of Harry's feelings for Sarah and to change the reader's outlook on him. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Ms. Cooper is a definite go to storyteller for me! I absolutely love her writing style! I know I am going to just love this series, as I have her others. There really never is a dull moment. She offers wonderful plots, great dialogue and well fleshed, they could be your friends, characters.
I do love when friends for life can become more! But, will Cooper give Harry and Sarah an HEA?
Harry is a definite playboy, who is loving his life! He knows Sarah wants marriage, but hubby will know these two are BFFs, right? And, BFFs come first!
Read it! Find out! I think you might really like this story!
ARC received from author in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced in any way.
Friends with benefits - to love and a HEA ....
Loved the cover Great characters in childhood friends Sarah and Harry Wealthy playboy serial dater vs conservative / wealthy but happy to stay home Sarah Angst ... Angst and more Angst Should they or shouldn’t they take the next step as in a relationship vs just one night Eventually true love wins out and there is a great HEA
This author never disappoints- just a great feels good read ! Loved it !!
Great first book of the series this one is between Sarah and Harry. They are best friends since childhood. Sarah has also got a female best friend Gemma. Great storyline. The main characters do seem to be sometimes childish and irritating but they love each other as only best friends can. Very funny when Harry asks Sarah to buy 3 female friends of his Christmas presents!! This book will have you on the edge of your seat. Will they or won't they. I read this book in about two hours and couldn't put it down. Well done Jaimie

I’m so happy that we got to read Sarah and Henry’s story! I loved the glimpses we got in Gemma’s book and couldn’t wait to see what happened between these two!
This is a great friends to lovers book that all starts over a pact of just one night of fun! Have you ever know people with this kind of chemistry to have only one night? No? Me neither! They may avoid the reasons neither of them are in a committed relationship ship and avoid their true feelings for each other but you can see it in how they act with each other and how comfortable they are together!
I loved this book, it made me angry at Henry’s blindness to his ways at times, but it also made me laugh and love them. I definitely would recommend this one it was easy to read and loved there HEA!!
