It all started with a fishing hook in my nipple. And no, it wasn’t anything kinky. I’m just very bad at fishing.
Emily was my nurse. She unhooked me, then we hooked up. She was the best I'd ever had, but sometimes you have to throw back the perfect catch. Because she was going off to Alaska to become a doctor, and not even my billions of dollars could change her mind.
I didn’t know how badly I wanted her until she was gone, and then it was too late. I knew she’d forever be the one who got away.
But fast forward four years and nine months, and Emily came back. Apparently fate wasn’t done with the two of us—well, now it was the three of us.
I’d never thought of myself as dad material, but after spending one afternoon with my kid, I knew I needed to be a father to my son...except Emily still thought I was a playboy who wasn’t fit for the job.
I may have knocked up the nurse, but now it's time to wife the hell out of the doctor.
Melinda Minx lives in Seattle with her loyal Corgi. She writes late into the night with a hot cup of Earl Grey. She likes to write romantic comedies, the cuter the better!
This was such a cute story of second chances, surprise pregnancy with a lot of laughs. Emily and Silas were the perfect couple...but I just couldn't grasp how easy going Silas was about things that really should have upset him. Other than that, this was perfect.
dont get me wrong, it managed to made me chuckle a few times here and there but there were parts were things are a... snoozefest.
honestly if i sum up the book, here is what i remember:
1. heroine unnecessarily rambling her thoughts that lasts pages upon pages driving the same meaning in the first chapters. 2. ultra-detailed fish hook removal (unnecessary, but ok i guess) 3. cookbook? 4. how to eat? 5. names of food everytime they eat? 6. how to play nintendo switch 7. info-dump on so many unnecessary things.
it's like 50% of this book is a MANUAL and the other half consists of the plot and the sex.
2 stars. Would have been a 3 but there are quite a lot of typos and errors here.
(Read this book because the blurb seemed kinda fun.)
I found the romance between Emily and Silas to be quite fun to read, and the dynamic that emerges between them when Emily returns with Elijah was super realistic. I felt a little weird that their relationship went from lust to love so quickly, but they faced a lot of realistic problems throughout the story that made up for that. And the jokes and secondary characters that were in the story were also so entertaining and hilarious to read.
Overall, if you enjoy the tropes of lust-to-love, secret baby, or billionaire hero, you’ll probably really enjoy this book. I know, I did.
P.S. The female lead is such a strong woman who will do anything to fulfill her dreams and take care of her child, even if she wasn’t expecting to have a baby at the time. She took her situation and made it better and that just made her a better female lead in my opinion.

Felt like I was reading a love story written by a teenager. What grown ass "billionaire " says the word "like" when trying to explain something every other word like a teenager and over explains like a rambling kid? Who told you a nurse can just turn into a doctor because another doctor says so?... Who takes a job without ANY thought ALL THE WAY IN ALASKA? Because out of the thousands upon thousands of hospitals big AND small there was " no other hospital " to do her residency? What grown ass adults "forgets" her birth control KNOWING she's about to meet a man for sex? I'll be honest, I only read about 35% before I just couldn't do it anymore and I could STILL come up with so many other things to complain about but I won't. I just don't understand why this book has more than 4 stars... is this how low people's standards are now?
It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. The plot was steady I suppose however there was no true resolution with Silas and his father. I did read the other book How To Wife Your Nanny (which was better) and it hardly seems like this was not the same Silas (in my opinion). By the time the ending came everything felt rushed. I didn't expect him to fall effortlessly into parenting also Emily's medical career I feel wasn't well developed and was only used as a means to the end. Also I don't think there was enough romance between Silas and Emily, there were hardly any dates or true conflict. I don't recommend this book.
This is another great story by Melinda and in this one we get to meet Emily, a nurse who is waiting to get into a resident doctor program and one night is asked to take care of a VIP patient with an unusual injury. Silas is Emily’s VIP patient who is a successful billionaire book publisher who sees Emily and knows he wants to get to know her. Silas is a major playboy who is one tall, dark and handsome man who is easy on the eyes! Silas’s injury is a fishing hook that is stuck in his chest and Emily explains what she’ll do as Silas flirts with her the entire time. When he is no longer her patient they end up meeting for a drink and spend on incredible night together. Right after Silas realizes that Emily is a special woman and tries to start dating her only to find out she’ll be moving to Alaska for her residencey. Five years later Emily returns to NY and happens to run into Silas in the park and things change as he finds out he has a son. They have some life altering events to deal and deciding how to move forward is their journey. I absolutely fell in love with these characters and hope to see them again! Ok, there was a good premise to this story and new-to-me author. The h is a nurse assigned to a VIP for patient care. Let the sparks fly with lots of insta-chemistry and lust.
This author and story had good potential it just didn't really get there. The dialogue was a little stilted and the flow was choppy. The characters have very little back story. There is a ton of unnecessary information, like how to use a switch? Why? Nothing goes in depth or really taps into any emotions.
Does love conquer all in this cheerful and funny romantic comedy?
Funny and cute romantic comedy that follows Noah's business partner and best friend, Silas, as he meets a nurse, "Nurse Emily," as she removes a barbed fish hook from his nipple. (She does an excellent job leaving no permanent scarring). Silas persuades Emily to meet him after he leaves the hospital will no longer be her patient. They meet, sparks fly, and they enjoy a night of fantastic sex. The only problem being that the first time they make love, their safe sex is not as as safe as intended, due to breakage. As "Nurse Emily" is also on the pill, they both feel confident to continue their night of passion, continuing to take necessary precautions to ensure safety. Both of them feels that in addition to the awesome sex, there is a real connection that could develop into something more. The next day, "Nurse Emily" learns she has been accepted into her hospital's. residency program. Unfortunately, the opening being offered to Emily is in Alaska-in two weeks. And while she may be an excellent nurse, the opportunity to be a doctor is why she graduated from medical school. Emily's career path was interrupted when he r mother's illness forced her to pause her career trajectory after medical school so Emily could care for her mother and in orderbto support them, she is forced to find a reasonably well paid position an to make a dent in the subsequent medical bills. Emily struggles, but decides to go after her dream, even if it is in Alaska. Although she's already smitten, she tells Silas she is saying goodbye, and why. As career-focused as Silas is, he understands Emily's ambitions. Although he suffers from a sense of loss that is unfamiliar to him, Silas and Emily part on friendly, if regretful, terms. Four years and nine months later, Emily is back in NYC and surprise, she has a four year old son named Elijah. Silas's son, who Emily has not told Silas about. In what seems like a random coincidence, Emily and Silas run into each other...as well as Elijah. Once Silas gets over his shock, he finds himself happy-an unfamiliar feeling for him. Silas struggles with self-doubt even as he is realizing his love for Emily and Elijah. Will Silas be able to put aside the fears brought forth by his family and upbringing? Will Emily risk loving Silas though if it fails, it could damage Elijah and Silas's relationship? Should she risk her heart for a man who prides himself on his ability to stay aloof? Read the book to see if love conquers all in this cheerful and funny romantic comedy.
This popped up as a suggestion on Amazon as a Kindle Unlimited read and I thought, why not?
It starts with Emily being at work and asked to go and deal with the latest patient who the doctor referred to as a VIP. Upon entering the room, she's instantly drawn to the shirtless man in the bed with the bandage on his chest. Turns out he's managed to hook a fishing hook through his nipple and Emily has been tasked with removing it, only Silas Winters - the patient - is flirting with her endlessly while she does it. He tells her he'll be at the bar across the street in a while if she wishes to go there, too. Despite herself, Emily can't help but go to the bar and they hit it off for a day before she's told the opportunity of her career is waiting for her in Alaska and she needs to be there in two weeks. Almost five years later and now a doctor she heads back to New York - only she now has a 4 year old in tow - and on their first day back they bump into Silas.
I wasn't sure how to feel about this one after that initial meeting in the hospital. It was a rather in-your-face flirtation. I almost expected them to start going at it on the examination table. It actually took a little while before the sex happened and it was a detailed one night thing before she had to go across the country for her job.
Yeah. I can't say I was pulled into these twos romance. It was obvious they were both hoping for more when Emily arrived back in New York but I never really invested in their relationship. It was all happening so quick, I never felt a connection between the characters other than the physical. And the sex scenes were rather graphic but I actually skipped them whenever they started because I didn't feel anything.
The best bits for me were Elijah and Bella - the four year old and the Corgi - who added a lot of light entertainment to the book.
I don't think I'll be reading anymore of this series. (Which aren't actually classed as a series but the covers give them away.)
Oh my gosh, this book was like a warm hug—and it’s funny too!
It’s a romance, but it really dives into family stuff too, especially with our main guy’s journey. That made me love the side-characters in this book! . He made my heart melt:
One thing I absolutely adored was how Emily never gave up on her dream career—so inspiring! It really makes this book pop in the “I-got-knocked-up” genre. And she’s super smart and funny, which I love. Just look at this perfect mix of nerdy and naughty:
And even though I usually find kids in books kind of annoying, Elijah was a super cool little kid and not cringy at all. Plus, there was a bunch of Those scenes were like the cherry on top. Loved it!
How to Knock Up Your Nurse by Melinda Minx is a fast paced, entertaining, delightful, sweet and steamy second chance/secret baby romance story of Silas and Emily..A billionaire playboy, book publisher and with a commitment issue.Emily is studying to be a doctor but when her mother got sicked she need to earn money to support her and choose to be a nurse and put aside her dream for the mean time.now her mother is cancer free she decided to pursue her resident doctor program..Silas went out with a client to go fishing, when he accidentally hook himself on his chest and he went to the hospital to treat him and met the gorgeous nurse and flirt with her, they have an instant attraction and Silas asked Emily out for a drink after her work and spend athe night together, weeks later she recieve a great news from his boss that her residency is complete and there is an open job for her in Alaska. having a second thought about the job offer and the man shes falling for,she need to decide her drem career or the man she just met not long ago? not knowing she brought also a piece of Silas with her, their baby..

To become a doctor, you have to go to medical school first. Nurses have different training and don’t go straight into medical residency from nursing. So even with a nursing degree, you have to attend 4 years of medical school before entering residency. That means the premise for Emily suddenly leaving is based on a misunderstanding of a doctor’s and nurse’s training. It was an unnecessary plot device because nursing is an honorable profession and Emily could’ve just as easily left for an opportunity to advance her nursing career. Also, nowadays nurses do a lot more than empty bedpans so that assumption was a bit insulting. I had to get that off my chest because those errors made me itchy.
Other than that, the characters had chemistry and there was good dialogue. There were some confusing misuse of character names, typos, and odd changes in POV. Good dialogue is hard to find so if the author did more research, had more editors and beta readers I think the writing would have promise.
I was curious about this book, especially after reading the description of the book. And the title. It had me wondering how he even knocked up his nurse. To begin with lol.
But at least it had my attention. They both ended up together. Even though they separated for four years and some months.
More so she had to go away for a job. Which I understood, I feel like a lot of women end up making a lot of mistakes or sacrifices when it comes to the man that they are dating.
Where they end up following the guy and not doing what they wanted to do. I was glad that Emily did what she had to and what she thought was right.
But came back and gave Silas a chance. Even though Silas mess-ups that he made about the toothbrush. But in the end, they worked things out and got married. She even got pregnant again with his baby. But this time he gets to be there through it all which is good.

I liked it but not enough to read the prior novel in the series. Bit of a hit and miss with this author.
A good romance with a good plot and interesting characters. The story had twists, family, drama, chemistry, connection along with good friends. Also likeable characters and humour as well as life situations made this an ok read, I found it extremely hard to get passed some of the grammar mistakes and as a lover of pokemon I can't for the life of me understand how you can mess up Bulbasaur (whom I'm assuming Minx meant) with "Balthazar" and, to my knowledge, isn't even the name of a pokemon. Also, the original number of pokemon was 151, so for things like this, research needs to be actually done and verified. Time line jumps were not outlined very well apart from the "four years and nine months later" skip and that was because it was specifically stated whereas the rest I feel are just jumped into without any really planning or warning. Things like this should not of been missed and therefore threw the reading off for me. 2.75 🌟
Silas finally wises up! This is about Emily and Silas. Emily is a nurse, and she ends up meeting Silas as he was trying to impress a client by fishing which he cannot do. So, he ends up hooking his nipple and she has to remove it without leaving a major scar. Well this is how story starts, of course after being discharged and meeting up with Emily, they have their time together but it ends when she receives great news about a job in Alaska, so she breaks everything off before it starts.
Fast forward four years and they meet up again in a park, but she is not alone, she has Elijah who is 4 years old and Silas son. The story takes off from there it was awesome, but now I like to know what happens with Wyatt and Wilder now that Silas and Noah found their forever after….

I picked up this book because I had just finished a series and I wasn't looking to commit to another one just quite yet. I wish I could say that I liked this book but it really came across kind of bland to me. I really enjoy reading books that feature either a surprise pregnancy trope or a secret baby trope but this one just felt kind of lackluster. I mean it was a quick read and there were some elements I liked (I liked that Silas didn't get angry when he found out Emily kept that he had a son from him because a lot of times the men get angry) but I felt the execution wasn't there for me. I didn't think the whole resolution with Silas ending up in the hospital again for Emily was at all romantic it just seemed stupid. Honestly this book didn't deliver what I wanted and a few cute scenes did not make up for the book as a whole.

Emily Engel is currently working as a nurse until she can get into a resident doctor program. Silas Winters is a billionaire book publisher, playboy and is tall, dark and handsome. He goes fishing with a client and gets a fishing hook stuck in his chest. In the hospital he outrageously flirts with Emily as she cares for his injury. They go on a date and have a steamy night together. Emily gets accepted into a program in Alaska and leaves for about 5 years. Once back in New York they bump into each other and he learns he has a son with her. They have to overcome several obstacles but get their HEA in the end.

This is the first book I have read the opened with the man nipple. It was all uphill from there. Silas was the carefree billionaire bachelor that like what he saw in Emily while in the ER. He gets to show his possessive side more than once even though he only knew her for one day before she left for Alaska to work.
She returns 5 years later and things are different. I would say Emily was always the more serious of the two, but in watching them together for a longer period of time, it’s clear Silas has grown, too.
Elijah is the funniest person in the story. You can’t help it smile reading about his antics and how the other characters respond to him. He really adds to the lighthearted flavor of this story.

Enjoyed reading this book a lot. They met a felt the beginnings of love, she left to go to Alaska for her residency requirements to become a doctor. He missed her for 4 years and they had a chance meeting in the park when she returned to NY. Ahhh, the twist and turns start after she meets his family. They could have gone without the grumpy old father. Overall, I enjoyed how it all worked out. Loved the kids. It was a great read, thanks. Written by Cindy :)
I really couldn't put this one down and it left with a huge smile on my face!! Just what the doctor ordered!!
How to knock Up Your Nurse is such a cute read. I couldn't get enough of Emily and Silas. I really couldn't put this one down and it left with a huge smile on my face. Happy reading everyone!!
Emily is a nurse who is waiting to get into a residency doctor program, and when she is asked to attend to a VIP patient she meets Silas who is a billionaire and book publisher, and he has an unusual injury. After spending a night together Emily moves on and when she returns to NY 5-years later she bumps into Silas and he finds out that he has a son. This is a well written story which is light-hearted, entertaining, humorous, and with some twists, which all lead to an engaging and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I recommend for all.
A Billionaire Secret Baby Romantic Comedy. This is Silas and Nurse Emily story. This book was funny and angsty. Emily meets Silas at the hospital and sparks fly. But after one night everything gets a little haywire. They don't see each other for a long time. So four years, a chance meeting in the park and a secret baby later, they have a lot of explaining to do. Absolutely delightful read. I would love to see a book for Silas brothers or his author friend I'm calling Mr. G.
This book was just average nothing more or less. I didn’t really get a real feel for either of the characters. The story seemed forced and in some places unbelievable. I just can’t picture anyone who has gotten a fishhook stuck in them being able to ignore the pain to flirt with the nurse and definitely not imagine that they would repeat the stunt.

Loved reading the wonderfully written romance story. When Nurse Emily is called in to work on a VIP patient, she meets Silas, a handsome, charismatic man, and an endless night of passion, Emily goes to Alaska to become a doctor, pregnant with Silas' child. When she returns to town five years later with her son, Elijah, Emily and Silas meet again. Read the highly recommended, engaging story with captivating characters, and a must read love story.
Great follow up to How to Wife Your Nanny. Another title by Melinda Minx with a tongue in cheek title, this is a light and funny read focusing on Silas Winters (business parter of Noah Black from How to Wife Your Nanny). He meets Nurse Emily in the ER after an unfortunate fishing incident and his world takes a turn. A little bit of drama, a cute corgy, and some Jujitsu make for a sweet and easy read. Hope the link for the bonus scene updates soon—if the bonus from HtWYN is any indication, it will be worth the wait.
What can I say but this was a sweet story on second chances. Silas and Emily have hot chemistry from the beginning. The storyline evolves wonderfully from start to finish even showing this couple can endure past life scars to enjoy their HEA. The supporting cast, which were from another book I read and loved, helps this story become even more enjoyable. I recommend this book wholeheartedly. Enjoy!
