so i'm new to this whole manga thing right? and i started off w/ webtcomics. now, diving in to the manga/manhwa world after being used to webtoon's slow burn, i didn't really liked the insta love trend here. (havent read that many but few that i encountered, they're all v v insta and i just needed more.) also, my dumbass kept forgetting the fact that with manga, we gotta read from the right side of the book, instead of the left side, like i'm used to
Ossan & the girl's relationship has great potential to be my next fav manga, w/ the whole age gap thing (which i'm a sucker for), but i really needed more (little moments), the 'love' part happened way too fast for my personal liking, but they still be cute tho
So far, this is the cutest, non-toxic, refreshing and not-to-dramatic josei manga I've ever read! Also, please give me a guy who'd choose to kill off his cigar rather than push you away [for safety reasons,] when you hug him! Like this silver fox!!
May I interest you in: 🍮 the after of "happily ever after", i.e., the story starts with two strangers who get married on a (drunken) whim 🍮 age-gap (he's 20 years older) 🍮 non-over-romanticized relationship (as it often happens in manga) 🙌🏻 🍮 great illustrations
It took me a while to find the age gap manga trope I was yearning, but I eventually did. I adore Haruhi because she has such personality, and Ossan—not let's even begin. He's so 🤌💜
20 years age gap with no minor involved. They respect and treat each other as equals regardless of their age gap. It's actually a nice romance manga though I almost wanted to kick the childhood friend.
I despise age gap romance mangas mostly because they all end up like "Koi to Yobu ni wa Kimochi Warui" pairing a grown ass man with a minor still in high school. Which is obviously gross on so many levels Japan's age of consent be dammed. They turn me off and I've never once found such pairings romantic.
This isn't that kind of manga. For one thing, the female protagonist is 22 years old, already has a steady job, and is living independently in Tokyo. And while she does have a 20 year age gap with the love interest, their relationship is one that's build on mutual respect, love, and a deep seated yearning for safety and stability. These two shouldn't work on paper and yet somehow in the span of 3 volumes they make you believe this could actually work out.
I liked their relationship dynamic that was part sweet part bickering friendship. I wish the other side characters were more fleshed out, specially the other love rivals who ended up being more immature, petty, and surprisingly violent. I also wanted to see more of Aya and her relationship.
Overall, this was quite a fun read. Overall rating: 4 stars.
There's a lot of plot progression here in just 6 chapters. But it doesn't feel forced, more right person and right time stuff. The characters have unique, but believeable personalities and I appreciate the realistic adult character styles. It's all good fun, if an excessive amount of circumstance drama for people who just met.
This was sooooo good. It reminded me of はぴまり~Happy Marriage!?~ 1 but with an updated look at M/F relationships. I think its biggest (and most refreshing) departure is its approach to class. Unlike the aforementioned Happy Marriage, our love interest is not a CEO with a vague business. No, our dear Sunuhora is broke as hell and incredibly unemployed. (which makes him way hotter than Hokuto could ever hope to be. I just love pathetic men.) Our heroine, Haruhi, is the working class breadwinner which adds an interesting dynamic to their age gap relationship. Though Harui is twenty years younger, she wields the most power in their marriage.
Anyways! My quick analysis aside, this is a super fun quick read.
Ugh... this series was so adorable! It's guilty of the hallmarks of shoujo, especially with the OM (other man) and OW (other woman) interfering in their new relationship, but it was all kinds of sweetness, rather than the discomfort I would've expected, given their massive age gap.
I'd like to point out that, despite the fact that our female protagonist, Haruhi, is a clown for drunkenly pushing a man to marry her simply because she doesn't want to return to run her father's company, she chose a very fascinating sliver fox. Basically mr sliver fox himself, Sunohara is a calligrapher and is 10 years older than her (she’s 22 basically). She on the other hand, is a machine operator working in the construction sector. I liked the fact both the characters occupations are uniquely different cause I hardly ever see those jobs roles being mentioned in manga!
I also liked how simplistic and lovely it is for both the characters to get to know one another. That’s regardless if they married at first sight like yeah, it’s a odd way to sign marriage papers at a pub but hey, anything can happen anywhere I guess! Also I hated that guy that fancied Haruhi, read to find out why....
If you want a cute story to check out, this one is definitely one for you all to see!
I see this manga talked about on tik tok a lot so I had to give it a read. The male MC reminds me a lot of Viktor from yuri on ice as well.
The biggest thing for me in this manga was the fact there was such a healthy relationship once it was established (bc they are faking marriage like in the proposal). The story is funny and cute and I loved how hardworking the MC was and how she was a heavy machine operator. I’m a big fan of the fake dating trope and it was cute and funny. I’m personally not one for age gaps but she is 22 and everything was healthy and consensual.
There’s some TW for about two panels in this story of assault that the MC experiences (not from the love interest), there’s also family member deaths talked about
A 42 years old man marry a 22 years old girl because she has to get married in order to stay in Tokyo doing the job that she loves or her father will make come back to their hometown and enter the family business. This story is so funny and original. The characters are so refreshing and so cute together. I discovered this manga by accident and I'm happy for it.
