USA Today Bestselling Author of steamy PNR and fantasy romance.

Ever since my grandmother first handed me a Nora Roberts novel, I KNEW I wanted to write romance.

I love love. Crave it. For me, genre doesn't matter as long as there is a beautifully epic love story woven into the storyline.

Which is exactly why I chose to write across so many genres. Paranormal, fantasy, contemporary, suspense...no matter which of my books you choose you always know what you're getting: a love story for the ages.

And before I was an author, I was a reader! Please be sure to follow me here, or add me as a friend! I love to connect!

I was excited to learn about what happened in the years leading up to when Rainey took on the role for her family of being a Hunter, and I can honestly say that I was honestly surprised. I was completely hooked on this story from the very first page and I loved the insight that it gave us about the paranormals in Billings that took place before the series even started. It was such an intriguing book and I loved how there was characters from the series that were in this. I honestly think that Jessica Wayne did an amazing job with this book and whilst it’s a standalone it tells us things that you could never have imagined.
I honestly can’t fault anything that Jessica did, she told this story in such a way that ended up leaving you wanting more. I felt for Z because it’s not like he had a choice in what was happening, and he was doing everything he could to make sure he was doing the right thing for his pack, but at the same time his wolf calling his mate was something he couldn’t ignore. If you’re not a shifter it’s hard to understand, so it’s easy to brush off as something that’s just lust.
Seriously this book is well worth the read, but then again I’d recommend anything that Jessica writes because she is talented and I can’t help but love her work.

Three years ago Laurens family were murdered because of one promise her mother promised the lead coven they lived in… Now years on and Lauren will stop at nothing to get justice for her family, and thanks to the owner of the gym where she currently works and lives in, she is improving on her fighting skills. Everything is going according to plan, well it was until Z strolled into her life. Despite doing her best to warn him off, she can’t seem to stop ending up in the same places as him.
Will she give into the lust that she’s feeling for him even though it’s forbidden for the two of them, or will she continue on with her mission whilst trying not to get herself killed???

This book is part of the Vampire Huntress Chronicles and tells the story of elemental witch Lauren and wolf shifter Z (Zander). Lauren lost all of her family when she was nineteen, due to a promise her addict mother made to a coven of dark witches. She has been on the run ever since and ended up living at Benji’s gym and doing some work keeping it tidy for her small apartment in the back. She has been learning how to box properly under Benji’s tutelage, but also seeking revenge against the coven that killed her whole family when she refused to have her magic drained and was out when they came to her home! She has been doing this all by herself for the last couple of years, whittling down the list of dark witches, to get to the head of the coven. Z has moved from Alaska after he lost all of his pack, when he allowed a small group of hunters to rest on their lands, only to be attacked. Only he survived and after moving to the pack lands just outside Billings, he took a place as a beta, rather than fight for the position of alpha, no longer having it in him to rule a pack.

The two meet when Lauren’s friend Candice, who is hoping to get a position on the Immortal Council, persuades her to come out for a drink and something to eat. Z is with a group of fellow shifters, but his wolf has recognised his mate and he can’t keep his gaze away from her. She feels his gaze and gets a funny feeling, but knowing he is a shifter, won’t do anything about it, as relationships between those outside of a warlock or a human, are completely forbidden and against the Accords all supernaturals obey, that is apart from the dark witches! She tries to keep away, after he follows her home, or should I say, offers to protect her on her way home after she is hassled by a group of human men. But Z is persistent, even though he is the pack enforcer and would normally always follow the Accords. This urge to claim his mate is too powerful and overwhelming. If he doesn’t claim her he could go mad and would be left to live a single life, never being with another woman.

They shouldn’t be seen anywhere together, but the draw is too intense and their being seen in town together, leaves a big target on Z as well as Lauren, by these evil witches that want to claim her power. Z realises the danger he could be bringing to the whole pack and when his alpha Josiah gives him the choice of Lauren or his pack, he makes the only decision he can. Unfortunately, he may be too late, as the dark witches have come for her magic yet again and won’t give up until they manage to corrupt her magic, so they can receive more power for their coven! A perilous decision is coming, but Z will find unexpected allies in the fight to keep Lauren’s magic safe. The story takes readers to an epic conclusion and its aftermath. A great standalone read which anyone who has read any of the other books in the series, will recognise many of the characters and finally find out how Lauren and Z first came together. I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Lauren is a strong heroine, a witch who is searching for the coven who killed her family. Z is a complication no matter how sexy he is and how attracted to him she becomes. And she fights her feelings in an effort to steer clear of him. It isn't just that she knows any relationship between them goes against The Accords, but it might put him and those they both care about in serious danger.

Z is a werewolf with no idea what this draw is he has to the beautiful witch. She's trouble, and he knows their attraction is forbidden. Still, there's something about her that pulls him to her like a magnet. By the time he discovers how deeply entwined they're becoming, he may not be able to escape the magic. And it could put his entire pack in danger, something he is very familiar with.

This is such a fantastic prequel and makes me look forward to discovering whether these characters will show up in a future story in this series. I love Lauren's strength and determination, and the angst between her and Z is gut-wrenching. This author has weaved another magical tale that just draws us deeper into this world. I cannot wait to see what she does next.

„Witch Hunter“ by Jessica Wayne is a standalone paranormal romance set in the “Vampire Huntress Chronicles” world some years previously to Rainy becoming a Hunter. The story follows Lauren in her path to exact retribution for the slaughtering of her whole family two years ago. A faithful encounter with a beta wolf shifter (Z) ends up with him claiming her as his mate, but Laurel has not time for romance, the mission is what matters, and her mission is avenging her family. However, Z has not intention to let her go, even if that means smash down in the middle of her mission. Revenge and fated-love might not be a good combination in Lauren’s mind but they keep on mixing and sidetracking her.

This is fairly mid-length story at 136 pages, that offers another view on the Vampire Huntress Chronicles world for a very different point of view. Easy and fast paced paranormal reading, with lots of twisted romance and interesting characters.

This book about more than just revenge or redemption. It tackled prejudice, where different supernatural creatures were not allowed to be together or they risked death. The council feared a hybrid would have too much power.
Lauren was a broken woman seeking revenge against those who killed her family. She also carried guilt that she was the cause of them being murdered by the dark magic coven.
Z was a shifter who started a new life. He also carried guilt about losing his old pack. As much as he longs for a mate and a family, he doesn't believe he will ever have that and then comes across Lauren in a bar.
As much as these two characters seem different they are so much alike because of their past.
I love that the author made Z a straight up kind of guy. He was not about playing games. He wanted Lauren and accepted that she was his mate and he made that clear to her.

I love the Vampire Huntress Chronicles world, and was excited to meet Z and his mate, Lauren! She is a witch with a murdered family, out looking for revenge, and he is a Pack Beta, not looking for a mate. Not only does he find her, but per The Accords, an ancient set of laws, there is to be no intermingling of species! Pshh. The sparks fly off the page with this one, and suck you in in a delicious way! The romance and steam were on point, with adventure that makes this unputdownable. I highly recommend this fun addition to the VHC world!

Witch Hunter, Jessica Wayne's new standalone in her Vampire Huntress Chronicles, is on fire! Revenge is the name of the game and Lauren has no intention of losing. Now she has a taboo relationship to deal with.

The storyline is fast-paced and well written, filled with magic, danger, adventure and intense romance. The characters are well developed and engaging. It was nice to see characters from other books; it brought further depth to the story.

Witch Lauren’s family is murdered, so she’s out for revenge. She meets wolf shifter Z on her path for revenge; there’s a hot connection between them, but their relationship is forbidden. Loved their connection! Sweet and passionate! This is a stand-alone story that takes place in the same world as the Vampire Huntress Chronicles series. Love that world and so happy to get more books set in that world. Entertaining and fun prequel! Good action in this short read. Excited for more!

I love this fantasy world that Jessica has woven for us. You can get lost in it. Lauren is out for revenge when she meets Z. So what happens when you meet your mate but are forbidden to be together ? Do you go for it anyway or do you leave to live your life alone ? Find out in this action packed prequel.

I received this as an arc and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Favorite Quote:
“You’re my mate, Lauren. Whether it’s something we can act on or not— there’s not a damned thing I won’t do for you. I’m loyal only to you and my alpha. And my attachment to you surpasses even the attachment I have to my pack.”

Loved This!

I absolutely loved this tie-in prequel to the Vampire Huntress series. Am I the only one whose anxiety ramps up when reading about forbidden romance? Z and Lauren are HOT together. I love how they can't stay apart even though they can't be together. I'm so looking forward to seeing them make an appearance in the next Vampire Huntress books.
