Just Keep Running

Rate this book
If you asked Alison Hilton on Monday how she felt about her estranged mother, Keira, she’d say she hated her for every misfortune her life had become since she walked out on her and her father thirteen years ago; his eventual suicide served to cement that hate.
Although, the phone call Alison received from Keira on Tuesday morning changed everything, and she’s compelled to run from the danger that now breathed down her back in pursuit, while also running to the danger that threatened her mother’s life, and from which she, herself, ran.

Jason (Hooka) Corbett won’t stop until he retrieves what he believes is his, and Martin O’Brien and Sashanna Milovski won’t stop until they retrieve what they believe is theirs. The AFP want their retribution for the actions of an undercover agent who’s betrayed the code, and that rogue undercover agent is hellbent on keeping what she sees as fitting compensation.
Alison possesses something she knows nothing about, and Keira knows everything about something she doesn’t possess.

Writing came to me in 1975 like a lost dog emerging from a storm. I knew it, and it knew me, though we had never met before; that dog has been at my side ever since.
I have no idea as to from where the muse comes, and I’ve never sought to question it.
I write whatever comes – only if I believe I’m connected to the idea – and I’m happy to go about this work without the restrictiveness of feeling bound to any one genre.
I went to the University of Sydney and, after the professor took delivery of the bottle of wine that had been sent to him as a Christmas gift, I was then required to leave campus and go about my courier work once more.

Alison has an OK life. Good job, great friends, she’s making out and doing well. Her parents are no longer on the scene, but she’s living with that. Then one phone call from out of the blue and it’s all turned upside down. Within minutes she’s running for her life, and we’re right behind her to find out why some very bad people are falling over each other to get her.

There’s a good plot line here, set in multi-cultural Australia as is obvious from the places travelled through and the language used by a colourful cast of characters. Who are the good guys, and who the bad? It’s troubling to think that just because you thought you were one of the former you can’t end up in deep trouble and on the wrong side of the line.

Fast cars, sophisticated tracking technology and an arsenal of weaponry are all in here. Travel with Ali in her search to find allies and assistance in a race to come out on top in another fine offering from Steve Rogan.
