Unbelievable collection of stories from two spectacular authors. These stories grap you and don’t let go until you’ve finished. Received a complimentary copy and reviewed because I loved it.

Very good sci-fi romp. Just didn’t like the time jumps.

I enjoyed the story very much. There was an eclectic Group of characters surrounding the main protagonist. The character development was done well even when some of them died you were sad as a reader. What I did not like were thejumps between characters, you were at a particular point in time such as missiles being launched then you were taken to another scene with another character several minutes earlier. This was disorienting. There was some silly things like not enough security on the ship, transports being taken willy-nilly and a few other little trifling issues. Besides that series was very well done.

First lets get over the why not 5 stars. I really enjoyed the story, the characters, both human and alien. The story line of the aging battleship, short of supplies, refit, and people. The captain who knows a truce is just so much paper and short of fact. Space battles, people trying to come to terms with the loss of colleagues and friend. All thoroughly good read. Just knocked off a star because a space fighter cannot just turn on a sixpence, unless there is some new drive that allows inertia to disappear. Explain it to me. Just a grumpy old man, but the story is brilliant, and I do want to read the next set of books.

Ever since the truce with the Kaxeks was signed, the aging United Earth Force battleship Walker Pierce has been patrolling the border areas. Captain Devlin Carter had a feeling that the truce was only a cover to allow the Kaxeks time to rebuild and improve their forces to resume the war, so he was looking for evidence. As the story unwinds, the captain and crew are stretched to their limit, facing pirates, spies, sensor anomalies that may or may not be alien ships, questionable damage/loss of fighters and pilots, disputes over policy issues, double-dealing, equipment breakdowns, systems sabotaged by shape-shifters impersonating key people and even some humorous moments. How can our heroes handle things that constantly go wrong? When the Kaxek ships move in for an attack, can older technology and ingenuity survive against new and improved alien ships? Can they continue to survive by making their own lucky breaks?

This writer team does a superb job of blending their talents to produce a well-written story with strong, deeply developed characters and vivid descriptions that make the reader feel part of what’s happening. I read for entertainment and escape, so I don’t mind stretching the laws of physics occasionally, because it makes for a good read. The action is continuous; I didn’t want to put the books down. I thoroughly enjoyed this entire series and I highly recommend it. I received an ARC for each book and for the boxset – the reviews are all my honest opinions – and I bought a copy of all four books as they were released, to support this great team.

I loved this series. And love that you can get all three in the same set so its so easy to read to the end. The characters were fun and the series hard to put down.

It takes it time setting up the series as we get to know the main characters and all their flaws as the stage is set for something to happen. As the first book open you just know that the peace at the beginning is going to end. It was full of action and suspense as Carter tries to do the right thing and save humanity. It was fun and interesting and kept me reading to see what would happen next chapter and what the characters would do next. The crew does what it can as the story unfolds in each book. It was full of action and adventure I was hooked from the beginning and had to see how it would end. Loved the characters and had to see what would be revealed as the story went along. Had to see what would be revealed next and what each revelation would lead to. This is is my honest review I was not disappointment and lucky to read it ahead of time.

The Kaxek, an alien race, after nearly a century of war with humanity, finally capitulated and sued for peace.
Or might that be a ruse?
Carter of the warship Walker Henry, has his doubts about it and for a good reason. If only his superiors would believe him.
Legacy of War is about a particularly nasty alien species called the Kaxek. In this box set all kinds of nasty discoveries shakes up what everyone believed about the Kaxeks and surprise follows surprise the more Carter gets in contact with these aliens.
And a tired humanity just wants the peace process concluded. A maverick like Carter is therefore not a welcome voice in the process.
Action abounds in this series and, as can be expected in war, the rate of attrition and demise of a popular character tends to shock the reader as the plot moves along.
Yet, a compelling series.
Enjoy.

Legacy of War: 5 stars
"Great Action better than ANY space series!"

Legacy of War series: These two authors Joshua James and Daniel Young write seamlessly throughout all their books. This series is another hit out of the park. The crew of the ship are lead by a captain who quick on his feet thinking, and the whole crew is outstanding at being tough and also full of ideas to defeat the challenges. Every time they think that they are out of the woods, another fight ensues and it is balls to the walls guys. The fight to defend life itself is always tough and sometimes feels almost lost but The Fat Lady has not sang yet boys. Another series Crushed by the dynamic duo, buy the series and get an adventure on!

Received as an ARC copy, this is an honest review. Humanity and Kaxek forces have torn each other by lengthy battles, but a real lasting peace is close at hand. But within the deep Black of space, a crew member of the Walker Pierce has an encounter that sets of a series of events that could pull the two species back into battle. The Legacy of War series delivers haunting action, stark and powerful revelations and a cast of characters that accompanies the witty narrative that draws you in from the first page. Highly recommended.

Space opera/military science fiction a gripping adventure packed read!

Earth has been is a devastating war against an implacable alien foe. The aliens have sued for peace, everything is coming up roses - “not so fast” says Captain Devlin Carter. The brass is trying to force him to return to base, where he expects to be forced to relinquish his ship. He’s convinced that the aliens are not honest about their proclaimed desire for peace. Being right can be dangerous. Can he survive?
I received a no cost copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review.

I really enjoyed this series! I preferred it to the other series which I've also enjoyed but found this shorter complete series format preferable. It delivers what we've come to expect from this pair of authors, lots of action, twists and turns, aliens, space battles and a surprise or two! A complex cast of characters, most of them very relatable and likeable. I look forward to reading more adventures of this crew. I did receive an ARC of the trilogy, but this is my honest and voluntary review.

Great Story Line

This book has a great story with lots of action and great detail on space technology. You will enjoy the suspense , twists and turns, drawing you into the read. My here stars represent the good read but the last to stars are omitted because of the cussing. As a Navy veteran of the Vietnam war the cussing was always present and it never made sense. Read this book and be aware of the content.

A sci-fi smorgasbord!

One of better space war tales I've read in a long time. There's a little bit of everything in this for space marine aficionados to enjoy, perhaps even to drool over.
A well written story with sufficient technobabble to keep an ardent spacer busy seconds guessing if what was laid out is factual or script approval.
My thanks and congrats to the author for an excellent read! Looking forward to more.

A hella of a series!!!

This is a short series with all the action, suspense and turns and twists of one 3 times it's length. A single old spaceship on the boundary between the human and the aliens they are fighting, is all that stands between victory and defeat! Highly recommended for all ages.

A space opera with "different " aliens. With multiple eyes ,tentacles, you get the gist.

Listening to narration via computer generated voice is different. But allows me to successfully navigate the Kindle library. Joshua James wrote this piece read in the third person, a little unusual but it works! Not your typical space opera but everything just comes together!

Exceptional read from Joshua James & Daniel Young

From the first page these two collaborators have created a new military action drama that never slows down! With a cast of characters that keep you on the edge of your seat. Aliens who continually mystified the crew.
EXCELLENT read Enjoy

Fun story

Really enjoyed this series. Good humor , good characters and an interesting plot line made for a fun read. This was really well done and an interesting story. There were a few minor elements of the plotline that fizzled (to me anyway) but the majority worked well. Great job!

FANTASTIC!!!

Love sci-fi? You must get this trilogy! But don't start reading if you have to get up early because these books are really hard to put down. I'd give this set a 10* if I could! 😊

Great story.

I'm glad I could buy this as a set because the individual books are definitely not standalone. This was a really exciting story with a lot fewer grammatical errors than the previous series from Joshua James which . I very much appreciated.

Some interesting ideas on exobiology and different social structures. The dialogue is weak and there are far too many narrow escapes by “the good guys.” Pacing is good though, so if you want an easy read for an afternoon poolside or at the beach, this is for you.

YOU ARE THERE!

I felt that I was on the bridge and feeling the ship move under me. And the Aliens .... They were as real as Captain Marvel. Thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining. I hope we get more from this pair.

This series has caused me to stay away from other books written by Joshua James!

This had a decent storyline in spite of the characters lacking any dimension and the worst editing possible. I gave it two stars because I liked the Foster character, otherwise it would have been 0.

This is a good story with lots of good characters. The only issue I have is that the story is way too long! It is one story that is spread out over 3 books. If each book was a separate story, I would recommend reading it. Since it isn't, I don't unless you like really long stories.

A Good and Fun Read

This series was a fun read but I found out that I was missing something. There obviously was a prior set of books that l led to this. I will have to search and find them!
