Everyday Magic

Rate this book
Everyday Magic will strike you in a spiritual sweet spot you probably didn't know you had. At its core, Schapera's second book is an elegant memoir that traces the lines from an outwardly quiet girlhood in stricken South Africa to the novvelty of raising a family around the turn of the millennium in the US. Flowing through that simple fame come waves of self-discovery syncopating the rhythms of spiritual progress. The result is a concise and pleasing guide to the terrain of everyday magic, which yields fresh insights upon each rereading. The author provides us with launch points to further study a variety of disciplines that she has integrated into a seamless and coherent whole. With the Alexander Technique at the core, Schapera shares her discoveries about nutrition, crystals, healing, shamanism, and other paths, and shows us how they all, in the end, share the common magic is within your reach and mine, every day. Allow it to happen.

I read this book many years ago after meeting Vivien. I really enjoyed the book at the time, but what I most remembered was wondering what the Alexander Technique was. It was what most intrigued me. That question followed me for years until I began taking Alexander Lessons from Vivien. I was “hooked” from my first lesson. Eventually, I trained at Alexander Technique of Cincinnati. Vivien and Neil are wonderful teachers. Recently, over the last several months this book has been on my mind. When heard that it had been released as an ebook, I immediately downloaded it to my Kindle and my Kindle App. This time I enjoyed the book even more. All that Vivien writes happened, happened. Thank you Vivien for telling your story. It has helped me realize the everyday magic happening in my own life. I highly recommend this book.
