Let’s list all the reasons why Logan Stone is the worst roommate for Alexander Kress to share his beloved house with. He: 🐀 loves possum (over-sized rodent) for dinner 🐛 keeps worms in the fridge and hunts fishes with a spear 🚚 thinks monster trucks are theatre 😉 is clearly hiding something behind that twinkle in his eye
Plus he’s straight—and sexy. And Alexander needs to stop shivering.
THE CHEEKY THESPIAN . . .
Logan couldn’t have scripted it better. Just one more day of obnoxious shenanigans and Alexander would evict his method-acting ass. Except, maybe he needs two days. Maybe a few more— What is this man made of? It’s almost like . . . Shit. The cute curator knows what he’s up to. But he doesn’t know Logan knows he knows . . . Wait. Back up. Did he just say cute?

I really like Anyta Suday, but I struggled with this one. While both MCs are interesting and sympathetic, the plot felt contrived and the question who knows what, when, why and how is simply overdone. The actions and reactions of the two guys also left me puzzled on a few occasions.
Opposites attract, roommates, and both made bets that conflict with each other? Yeah you know this is gonna be good and entertaining. Although the political stuff is still a tender subject (this year especially). But really Logan and Alexander brought out the best in each other in the end and made one another see themselves in a new light.
This was enjoyable and funny and kind of sweet. At times I felt sad for both of them, they way they see themselves or others treat them. Alexander is kind of particular and fussy, but trying to be more open minded. And Logan is self conscious about not being good enough or smart enough. They're both good and kind, though. And they have great chemistry, which is hillarious at first because of the role Logan is trying to portray. I don't know how else to put it, but I've never read a book by this author that I didn't love. I loved it.
I lost count of how many times I laughed out loud whilst reading this book. It's relevant, super funny, clever and so romantic. It's typically a Anyta Sunday read, not as slow burn as usual, but who's complaining?
It's without doubt one of the funniest book I've read. Read it in one sitting, and wanted an epilogue after the epilogue. I really didn't want it to end. I loved all the characters, especially Alexander and Logan. Their encounters are comedy gold. I'm still laughing now, thinking about the fishing trip.
I needed a feel good, light, yet entertaining read and this ticked all the boxes! Excellent!
So I have been craving a How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days retelling for way too long and Sunday definitely delivered! This book is hilarious, timely, and at times emotional, and I was totally on board for it. At times I did feel like it jumped around without clear explanations, but I still enjoyed every page and could not put the book down for anything. I loved Alexander and Logan, and while the two started out pretty insecure and unsure of themselves, they really blossomed together and were able to figure out who they were and what they wanted.
From the start we got lost between two bets .. two bets that gets both of the main characters to act like somebody else. 80% of their interaction are based on lies .. so I find it hard to believe that they are so inlove with each other when they don't have the chance to get to know each other.
I used to LOVE this author, but lately her books haven't been hitting the mark. Partially because her style is SO distinct it makes a lot of her works feel very samey, though I did appreciate with this book she attempted to have some different characters from her usual, which is why I managed to make it halfway through. Unfortunately, the concept just really squicked me out. I get it's supposed to be a light-hearted, zany rom-com, but I didn't really find the humor in a out gay man forced to room with somebody pretending to be a die-hard Trump supporter, as if that wouldn't be an incredibly stressful situation with real worry of harm in your own home. The idea of trying to get yourself evicted for a bet, when the reason somebody is bringing you on as a roommate is because they clearly need the income just smacked of privileged, and it read much worse when reading during a time when people are being forcibly evicted from their homes during a pandemic. And the whole I know that you know that I'm being a dick for a bet thing I *know* was supposed to be fun shenanigans, but came off as kind of weird and gross, especially when they added smut into the mix.
I was immediately engaged by the premise of this book and it definitely delivered on it. When you put one guy who has to say yes to everything together with another guy who is increasingly trying everything he can to get evicted, well it makes for some interesting results. Alexander trying to hide his horrified reactions to his new roommate's unpleasant and objectionable behaviour had me in stitches! To be honest, I would have caved from the moment Logan ate possum, and if that wasn't enough, from there, his antics just escalated. The highlight for me was the camping trip as Logan tried to figure out how to fish, closely followed by Granny's dancing at the housewarming party.
The banter between Alexander and Logan is witty and engaging and it's easy to see how the connection and attraction between them slowly develops. It isn't quite as slow burn as some of Anyta Sunday's other works, at least in terms of physical intimacy, but the game of chicken they start once they figure out "he knows I know" and so on, well, that is a different story. The build up of emotion is perfectly executed and my heart was aching with how much they loved each other. A truly beautiful, humorous and downright fun story!
It took me quite some time to get in on it with the humor and all but when I did I was all in. The humor was a little over the top at times and I needed both Logan and Alexander to get it together at times but when they did, this was great.
I’ve seen some mixed reviews for this one, but I actually quite enjoyed it. Some people are saying it’s over the top / exaggerated, but as someone born and raised in Tennessee I can confirm some rednecks are legitimately like this. I think that made it all the more hilarious to me. I’ve had a terrible week, and I’m a little sleep deprived so maybe I found this more amusing than I otherwise would’ve. Idk. I usually love Anyta though so I’m not truly surprised I liked it. The story doesn’t take itself too seriously, the steam was great, and the MCs have a sweet connection - it was a great pick-me-up read for me.
I'm actually surprised by the low rating of this book.
Was it the best book written by her? No. But still, the story was actually interesting, the whole lying thing kind of childish but it didn't bother me that much.
The thing I liked the most was the certain kind of humor Anyta Sunday has in her writing. With a zero sense of humor, I can only be thrilled while reading a smart dialogue with humor in it. Both Alexander and Logan were sweet together and their chemistry was believable beneath all that pretending. It can happen to be attracted to someone you actually don't like. It's not a nice feeling but it happens.
The things that bothered me, though, were two actually - the story dragged in the second half of the book and some of the actions were very unbelievable. I rolled my eyes a little. Just a little, I promise.
It was cute. When I finished the story and got to section that listed the author's other works, I realized that this was an Anyta Sunday book. Um, what? I didn't really buy all the craziness, and the setup was just too unreal. But it's cute, relatively low angst.
This book had me dying laughing. I had to pause at 16% to text a friend and demand that she put this on her TBR.
We've all seen 'the bet' type of trope done before, but this was a totally fresh and relevant take on it. The opposing goals of the MCs put them in an almost impossible situation. One cynical, neurotic character who was challenged to say YES to everything and to not evict his new roommate, no matter what. And one liberal actor who was bet that he couldn't pull off a role as a MAGA hat-wearing conservative well enough that he would be evicted.
The over-the-top political and cultural stereotypes on both sides really drove the humor home in this satire. During their OTT attempts to outwit each other, there were glimpses of raw authenticity from each character that made for some really sweet, romantic, and vulnerable moments. I loved this juxtaposition.
As an American who barely managed to survive this election season in one piece, this book was a nice release valve. Hilarious, heartwarming, fun, and very cheeky. Exactly what my 2020 needed.
Alexander and Logan's story is full of banter, humour, and some delightful tropes; it's a brilliant light-hearted romance in true Anyta Sunday style. Definitely one to visit often, when I need something that makes me smile.
Oh how I love Alexander and Logan! This book was so much fun! It's got hilarious banter (I couldn't stop laughing), this sort of frenemies to lovers with UST and and an adorable romance. And they were roommates!
It's a very fresh take on 'the bet' trope. If you've seen the TV series Friends , you'll remember the iconic "They don't know that we know they know we know". That's all I'm saying!🤐
Both Logan and Alexander were real and vulnerable and I also adored the secondary characters. It was amazing to see them out of each others comfort zones and grow. I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for a heartwarming rom-com that is fun, steamy and emotional.

Man, I have no idea how the quality of Anyta Sunday's books vary so widely from novel to novel. Overall, I am a big fan of her work and would rank some of her books as among my favourites, but this missed the mark by a mile. It tried to hard to be funny and fell really flat. The pacing was off, and I kept having to flip back a few pages to see if I had missed a page or scene or, indeed, the point of the scene I had just read. I've finished reading the book and I STILL can't figure out how these two supposedly had enough conversations of substance to have fallen in love. The entire book felt amateurish, and Sunday is no amateur.
I think I would’ve enjoyed this more if we’d had a bit more time of real Logan with Alexander.
Also, like these two characters, I am so far left politically that it was difficult to imagine being in Alexander’s position in the beginning. I also really struggle with first time anal scenes with no discussion about it.
Most of the book was great, especially Alexander’s wit, but it wasn’t the usual Anyta Sunday perfection for me.
Y’all. The MCs are basically trying to get rid of each other. Fine. No problem.
Logan tho? His method is to pretend to be a MAGA djt supporter. Complete with merch and a pic of the racist in chief. Not funny. They even go to a bar where Alexander gets spit on for being a gay liberal and wanting free health care. WHAT THE FUCK
How? How is any of this okay? I was actually physically ill while reading this. I had to leave my house and take a walk.
There’s also a ton of southern stereotypes that can die in fire too.
Please. Pull this book and change Logan’s method to something that won’t cause actual harm to *gestures* the world
Well now.....Anyta Sunday is known for low angst, slow burn stories and this really delivers on that. It's also funny. Logan is a character that just keeps giving. The situations he gets himself into with poor Alexander in order to win the bet are hilarious but he's an absolute sweetheart underneath all. Plenty of fun with a side of steam
I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. It was just FUN in the most unlikely way. I mean, you'd think Alexander and Logan wouldn't get along but somehow they did even when they didn't hehe. I'm not the kind of person to bet on anything and if I did I would NEVER play with SUCH high stakes but for both Logan and Alexander they were in a place they needed to prove a point not exactly to the other person but for themselves and I think this is what made them keep this bet for so long, or rather, right up until the end. So who lost? You'd need to read and see :)
Alexander Kress might have a house he loves and a job he enjoys as a art curator, but his life is rather empty. His strict and critic way he looks at the world (himself included) doesn't allow for mistakes. Which makes it hard to find a special someone for himself but not easy also in renting a room in his place to anyone he can put up with. When his brother Nico finds him a rather okay guy to rent the room to, he offers a bet, if Alexander can't handle the guy for 3 weeks he'll have to swap places with him for a year. Alexander shudders at the thought but he is willing to commit this time. How bad could this guy be?
Logan Stone is actually a great guy but when Alexander meets him he doesn't see the sweet and considerate guy he really is, he only sees the character he want to play in the theater his brother runs. The only way he thinks of showing both his brother and his ex-girlfriend he is REALLY into this role is actually BEING the guy, playing SO well he gets evicted. After all, playing the Trump supporter who hunts (and eats) possums and catches fish with his bare feet isn't exactly what Alexander had in mind. But somehow Alexander DOES see in Logan more than the act. Especially when his bet included needing to actually ACCEPT Logan's outrageous offers of "good time". It puts Alexander out of his comfort zone and makes Logan explore something in himself he hasn't really figured out yet.
Alexander and Logan's feelings towards one another with each day goes by confuses both of them. How can Alexander be attracted to THIS GUY with his right views which are everything he doesn't believe in (and would fight if he could). But there is something MORE to him, he knows it. For Logan he firstly doesn't understand just HOW can Alexander keep playing along and actually enjoy some of the time they spend together, that's without mentioning his attracting to him. He'll be the first to admit his previous relationships with women didn't really work.. But alexander of all people? and especially when he is playing this horrible role!
When Alexander figures out what's going on, he decides to play along and when Logan realizes Alexander knows and STILL keeps it up he has even more incentive to making it harder on Alexander (and on himself as well). How can their growing feelings be real when everything else is fake?
These two go through quite the journey in this one. It's a self discovery bundled up with the sweetest love story. I laughed-out-loud so many times with Logan's shenanigans but Alexander had the will of steel! (which was hilarious in itself).
HIGHLY RECOMMEND you give this one a go. I also recommend you try the first in this series (which isn't connected in any way though the characters from "How to Steal a Heart in 500 Kisses" do make the smallest appearance.
This a great read, funny and heart warming.... can a little bet turn into a great romance or will this be a mess??
Alexander made a bet with his brother Nico about his new roommate. He needs to agree with whatever the new roommate wants, he needs to try be not so picky. But went he agree, he isn’t aware that he will have a test in his strength, tolerance and acting abilities to not bass Logan in the head. Lol poor Alexander all he had to suffer the first days went Logan move in, all the flags, the picture and all that paraphernalia...
Logan is always been put down by friends and family. He didn’t finish College and is always remained of his failures he always doubts himself, when his brother’s theater is up for auditions he wants that role but his ex-girlfriend tells him he can’t do it and they made a bet, so the will practice with his new roommate. You need to read the book to find out the type of role Logan is practicing!
This two are great together despite everything they put each other though....can they survive when the true is out? will they be disappointed and alone again? You need to read this book, Anyta did a great job with their story. Alexander and Logan are wonderful characters, you won’t regret reading this book!
I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review.
This book was so funny!! Honestly, I couldn't stop laughing at Logan and Alexander's shenanigans.
Being put down for years by family and friends has taken its toll on both Alexander and Logan's mental state. They are lonely, discouraged and self-conscious. Alexander is constantly described as picky, with friends, roommates and partners. Logan, on the other hand, is seen as not cultured enough college dropout.
So, just before the two of them became roommates, Logan and Alexander made a bet that will change their lives. Logan made a bet with his ex that he'll make his roommate evict him in three weeks to prove that he can be committed. Alexander made a bet with his brother that he'll try not to evict his roommate for at least three weeks to prove that he is not as fussy as he sounds.
From the day they met, their lives became an adventure. They were absolutely hilarious together. Logan, who is an actor, put everything into this „role“. Fake accent, fake beliefs, fake everything. Alexander was slowly going insane. Their banter is amazing and the chemistry is definitely there.
Plus, we get a glimpse at the characters from the previous book. Also, I absolutely adore Alexander's brother Nico, he's such a sweetheart.
I received an ARC from the author and I'm forever grateful.
Bet conundrum traps Alexander & Logan: 💦steam and heart💕
4-4.5🌟 stars I particularly liked the humor of the first half of this story and the depth of hurt and emotion in the latter chapters. Both would-be actor Logan and persnickety art gallery owner Alexander have insecurities to work through and the wager each enters into, unbeknownst to the other, puts them to the test. The plot was refreshingly different from what I usually see and pretty well executed.
The story slows down in the second half with some pretty extensive steam and the unraveling of Logan's deception. For me, Logan's angst about how others, particularly his mother, brother and former girlfriend, perceive him and Alexander's fear that his perfectionist attitude will sabotage his own chance at a loving relationship are the emotional heart of the story. Nicely addressed and resolved eventually but the journey had me on their side all the way.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
ARC provided by GRR in exchange for an honest review. Well I absolutely love this book. It was full of all the emotions and made me feel each one. I love the premise of the story, being kind of a play on How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, but so so much more. The characters were so likeable and real, and the side characters were the same way. The story was about both MCs growing for the better and them both realizing what they meant to each other. It was a beautiful story. The epilogue was amazing too!! I just adored everything about this book. I laughed, cried, swooned and cringed a bit. But Anyta did that for all of us to enjoy. I cannot wait to pick up many more books by this author!!
Gallery owner, Alexander fails to be able to keep a room mate for more than a week and bets with his brother that the next one will last at least 3 weeks or his brother gets the house. The trouble is the new room mate has also made a bet with his ex he will be evicted and his reward will be a part in a play.
This story is full of chuckles as they both contrive to succeed in win their bets, unbeknown to the others. The forces at play have another consequence when mutual attraction complicates matters.
How to Evict a Hot Jock in Three Weeks by Anyta Sunday is a light-hearted enjoyable read.
