Jimmy has always known what he wants to do with his life - become a sausage maker.

When people learn that you are going to college for sausage-making - that turns heads. And before you laugh - there is LITERALLY no nobler position in this world.

But then Jimmy meets every sausage-makers worst enemy - a vegan.

Petunia is beautiful, and smart, and spirited...and she also has a few wacky beliefs.

Like (for example) she thinks that sausage is made from PIGS! (oh, the poor misguided soul). (or is she?)

And after wrestling with his conscious a bit, Jimmy decides to do whatever is necessary to date the hot vegan chick - including going under-cover at the local sausage factory.

But then...he realizes...that the crazy-hot vegan chick might be right after all.

OMG. SO. This is my second book by Andrew Rolston and dang. He knocked it out of the park.

I LOVED the humor this round - it's that perfect mixture of over-the-top and surprisingly-dark that gets me every time.

The plot itself just kept getting wilder with every moment new discovery that Jimmy made and I was there for it.

The "revelations" about the meat industry, the "protests" and the fact that Jimmy's roommate was a literal pig (like...barnyard animal that could talk) - it just killed me.

I listened to the audiobook this round and I was SO impressed by it - you can just tell that the voice actor was the perfect embodiment of the story's mixture of humor and serious moments.

The only thing that got to me was that it felt soooo short. This story had a lot of crazy-awesome bits that I would've loved to see played up more.

How Sausage's Made is amusing and funny. The story is very enjoyable. It has a bit of a dark twist at the end but is delightful overall. It is a quick read. I was able to finish it in one sitting.

I listened to this via audiobook and I really like it!! The narrator set the perfect tone. A bad narrator can quickly ruin the story, but that was not the case here.

Jimmy is a great protagonist and I was chuckling throughout the story. I wanted to keep reading because I was so very interested in Jimmy’s future and how things were going end. Petunia is also a cute addition to the cast of characters.

This was super cute, funny, and there’s a moral too. I really like it when there’s a moral to the story. In fact, I believe there is more than one moral here, but I won’t go into detail regarding what those. Mainly because sometimes it’s best that you read the story and discover them yourself.

If you haven’t read any of Andrew Rolston’s books, this would be a great one to start with! I recommend this all the way. There’s fun characters, humor, love, and not to mention it’s short enough to finish in one sitting. Seriously, I’m sitting here chuckling as I’m typing out this review.

For all of Jimmy's life, well at least as long as he can remember, he has wanted to aspire to be a sausage maker. He works hard in school and now in a 5th year at college to achieve that dream. He instantly falls head over heels in love for a girl he meets in line at college, Petunia. She is actively involved in an animal rights' group and in order to try to get to know her more, he agrees to go to the meetings. He, and later his talking pig roommate are unable to believe sausage is made from pork. Jimmy agrees to go to a sausage making conference while wearing an undercover camera in order to try to prove his activist friends wrong. Instead, he ends up getting the shock of his life when he finds they are right, and it changes the whole course of his life.
The story was humorous and, in a fun way, showed how masses of people can be deceived into believing misinformation and can have difficulty in accepting the truth, even when confronted with it. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review-- thank you!

A dark and hilariously unique premise that was intriguing and thoughtful. Our protagonist Jimmy is a fifth year college senior in pursuit of receiving his sausage-making degree. In this semi-dystopian world, the masses are informed that sausages are not made from pigs. Jimmy's world consists of everything sausages. His worldview changes when he meets the lovely Petunia, a vegan activist who challenges Jimmy's beliefs and the knowledge of the truth about sausages.

This was a pleasantly surprising read for me. This quirky plot was engrossing and executed perfectly. The writing was simple yet filled with many elements to unpack in-between the pages. The characterizations of Petunia and Jimmy mirrored the state of our current society. Andrew Rolston crafted complex characters with multiple standings portraying a human story and/or the characters representing the society itself. In the exterior, this was a charming and comedic story about one's pursuit of love and their dream. However, Andrew Rolston's impeccable writing is filled with vibrant and metaphorical details examining the elements of misinformation, activism and corruption in corporate powers. The strength of the author's writing is most notable, however Geoff Sturtevant's narration was marvelous and positively enhanced my listening experience. A fascinating and eccentric tale that will captivate the readers until the delightful end.

He meets a girl who is an animal safety activist and vegetarian, and although Jimmy loves eating sausage they become fast friends. He and his roomie both don't believe sausage is made from pigs, and the story is built around the business of sausage making and what is discovered about the process.

They will laugh, and scratch their head as they go back and listen

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Geoff

Sturtevant.

I have the audiobook version of this book and I really enjoyed it, it was funny from start to end. With a great twist! The pig is definitely my fave character!!
The narrator was fantastic and easy to listen too.

Easily one of my favourite books so far. Full of memorable quotes and puns, at times cringey or too graphic, but overall worthy. I love how the reveal is done, even though I knew what to expect before even having started.
