Ezra, a teaching priest to Israel, established the Bible literacy metric when he taught the Jews their story from creation to their present return from Babylon. He linked the necessity of knowing God's Word to their spiritual well-being through the Bible's story arc (Neh. 9). On the road to Emmaus Jesus tuned the ears of his two traveling companions to that same story arc, "And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Him" (Luke 24:27). Bible literacy is nothing less than knowing the whole story of the Bible. The CBT 14 Era framework provides a simple summary of the story that Ezra taught, the one that Jesus related, and one that we may know and tell today.
