“Kyle Clady, you are under-” The rest of his sentence never makes it out. Or rather, if it does, I never hear it, the words drowned out by what I mistakenly thought was thunder. On the south end of town, Detective Malcolm Marsh is called to a crime scene in the middle of the night. A quaint home on a bucolic neighborhood street, no part of him anticipates the macabre sight he’ll find...or the identity of the half-dozen victims it holds.
Along the coast, Sven sits in the sand. Staring out over the ocean, he uses the calming influence of the sea to steel his nerves as he grabs a pair of forceps and painfully removes the metal projectile scraping against his ribs and protruding from his flesh. A remnant of the very same incident Marsh is now investigating.
In Mira Mesa, Byrdie is summoned by the newly installed leader of the Wolves. An olive branch, extended to one of the longest-tenured members , even in the wake of all that recently happened. And at the center of it all, Kyle Clady, his frantic search for what happened to his wife continuing, even as the various players around him begin to converge.
All of them looking for their own answers, with absolutely no qualms in extracting them by any means necessary…
I originally hail from the midwest, growing up in the heart of farm country, and still consider it, along with West Tennessee, my co-home. Between the two, I have a firm belief that football is the greatest of all past-times, sweet tea is really the only acceptable beverage for any occasion, there is not an event on earth that either gym shorts or boots can't be worn to, and that Dairy Queen is the best restaurant on the planet. Further, southern accents are a highly likeable feature on most everybody, English bulldogs sit atop the critter hierarchy, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with a Saturday night spent catfishing at the lake.
Since leaving the midwest I've been to college in New England, grad school in the Rockies, and lived in over a dozen different cities ranging from DC to Honolulu along the way. Each and every one of these experiences has shaped who I am at this point, a fact I hope is expressed in my writing. I have developed enormous affinity for locales and people of every size and shape, and even if I never figure out a way to properly convey them on paper, I am very much grateful for their presence in my life.
To sum it up, I asked a very good friend recently how they would describe me for something like this. Their response: "Plagued by realism and trained by experiences/education to be a pessimist, you somehow remain above all else an active dreamer." While I can't say those are the exact words I would choose, I can't say they're wrong. I travel, live in different places, try new foods, meet all kinds of different people, and above all else stay curious to a fault.
Here's hoping it continues to provide us all with some pretty good stories...
Wow, no problem here with being a fast paced, spectacular story as always. Kyle and his team are still trying to figure out why his wife was murdered. I was so caught up with the story that I never realized when I was at the end.
Run, don’t walk to your source for books! Battle Cry, the next segment in Dustin Stevens’ “My Mira” series is that good. I had never been keen on any ‘series’ as I found that they ran out of steam very quickly. Stevens has not fallen into that trap. Each book holds the excitement and suspense of the last segment and amps it up.
Stevens always delivers strong characters and tight plots. The My Mira series hosts some of the best complex characters. Battle Cry, with effective flashbacks, fills in more personal background on all the players. Battle Cry also pulls back the curtain revealing more of the unfolding plot - a well woven and shifting tapestry with a nod to the painful reality of COFA.
Kyle Clady, searching for why his wife was murdered, continues to be a lightning rod for dark forces including a corrupt Senator, a deadly assassin, a misguided detective squad, and an outlaw biker gang. All wanting him dead or locked up. Kyle along with Fran and Valerie Odo are stashed in a remote motel while trying to tease the truth from the chaos without getting killed.
With the dust just settling on the Ogo house crime scene where six Wolves died in the crossfire adding to the body count, tensions are in hyperdrive. Byrdie has grabbed a clue but left Sven alive. Sven gets away under his own power and performs cringeworthy battlefield first aid on himself. Too many bad guys are still in the game. Detective Marsh’s survey of the scene sends him to an unfortunately wrong perception.
Kyle’s Seal buddies continue to be there for backup and support - but they can’t sleep for him. Fatigue is becoming a factor that even the reader feels. Kyle describes himself as “...fighting a constant battle between sorrow and outrage…”. Doing the right thing has never been easy.
Vengeance driven outlaw biker Byrdie is more crafty and lucky than you would expect and locates Kyle - and calls in the Wolves. This happens at about the same time that Detective Marsh and Sven, the assassin, connect the dots. All opposing factions converge on the motel where Kyle is protecting the Odo family - the key to Mira’s death.
Battle Cry is the sixth book in the My Mira series. It continues the story of Kyle Clady and his Seal trained friends in their quest to find out why Mira, Kyle's wife, was murdered. This entire series has surprises thru out each book and definitely has you wanting to read the next installment. This series has alot of descriptive violence, so if that bothers you, you might want to pass reading it. However, if you love a good story with lots of twists that leaves you wanting more, then I highly recommend it. Be aware, you need to read this series from the beginning, it isnt anything you can pick up in the middle and understand the storyline.
Warp speed entertainment This series just keeps getting better and better and building towards a cataclysmic finale. Kyle goes one step forward and 2 steps back it appears, but always is moving towards a solution( I hope!). The pace keeeps increasing and although I do not want it to end I also need to know how it does, if that makes sense. As the series progresses we learn more about all the characters and their backgrounds which just adds to the depth and complexity of the story. Kudos waiting for the next one.
Book 6 in this amazing series and it just keeps getting more thrilling, I seriously can’t wait for more.
Kyle Cady is still looking for answers, all he seems to get are more questions, what is happening why was his beautiful wife killed and how will everything that has happened tie together, will he ever find out what’s really going on???
Oh this series is just full of intrigue, action and lots of questions add in amazing characters and it’s a just-read series for me.
This is one of the best, action packed series that I've read in a while. Poor Kyle Clady only wants to know why his Mira was murdered, but a motorcycle gang and other nuts are out for revenge on him and he is hard pushed to stay ahead of them. Thoroughly riveting and darned hard to put down!
A battle cry for sure is this story. In the strum of all that’s come to pass with the death of his wife, Kyle isn’t keen on the idea that the police need to speak to him again! Never ever believing the story comes roaring in on motorcycles and ends with yet more death.
Kyle Clady has lost the love of his life. How? She was murdered because, well, that's what he'd like to know. And so far, a Doctor in a clinic and lots of bikers among others have died as well. And all because of - what?? That's what Kyle wants to know. To know what's going on you'll need to keep reading. I know l am.
Still only giving 4 stars, but only because of the "short stories". It's a good book, even if it had been a two part series. There is no doubt Kyle Clady is a bad a$$...he's determined to find out what happened to Mira...even if Detective Marsh doesn't have all the facts.
I wasn't aware this was a cliffhanger. My bad. Liked the story. My first in the series so I am just getting to know Kyle. Still I am very disappointed with the end.
Not interested in trying to follow this saga without having the series presented in consecutive order. Not easy to follow the story line and keep track of characters.
Kyle is still searching for his wife’s killer in this addition to the My Mira series. This is a very exciting book with so many twists and turns and drama. It held my interest from the beginning to end. I can’t wait to see how the plot plays out. This is a very entertaining mystery thriller. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and this is my honest review
A POIGNANT, HAUNTING, TWISTED AND POWERFUL CONTINUATION OF A DYNAMIC SERIES. THE CHARACTERS ARE RIVETING AND INTENSE. THE SITUATIONS ARE HEART-WRENCHING. IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT THIS BOOK DOWN. MR. STEVENS KNOWS HOW TO WEAVE AN INTELLIGENT, GRIPPING NARRATIVE THAT BEGS FOR MORE. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
6 motorcycle club members of the Wolves are found dead. Someone puts the blame on Kyle for the killings. Kyle did not do the murders, but the Wolves members are after him to kill Kyle. A lot of action and suspense in this thriller.
Kyle Clady (retiring navy seal) is still chasing down why his wife was brutally murdered. As he gets closer to the answer he and his friends get closer to death. He has the cops after him as well as a motorcycle gang and just can’t seem to get far enough ahead of either of them. A hired assassin is after the lady he’s trying to protect and this trifecta is taking it’s toll on Kyle. Non stop action, terrific cast and a well written story line will keep you on the edge of your seat.
