This is the first book I have read in this series, and I really liked it. There are quite a few errors, but as this is an ARC, I am sure they will be fixed before it is released. Aunt May, her niece, Chelsea, and her best friend, Teeny, are out to solve the murder of a body found in her apple orchard. I really liked the camaraderie between the three women. They seem to hit things off really well. Sounds like the sort of town I would love to live in, minus the murders!

I think I have read all the books by these authors and this one is my absolute favorite. The story line was positively diabolical. Highly recommend!
In this latest investigation Miss May, Teeny and Chelsea are trying to find out who killed basketball coach Ray Thornton and scattered his chopped up body parts in the orchard. The suspects are numerous as the coach was a very nasty person and hated by players, colleagues and neighbors. In a bizarre twist the ladies find the coach's intact body in a closet in the gymnasium. So who was the first body? And where is all the money the coach stole from his bogus scholarship? A must read story!

Dropping like Pies book 11 in the ”Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery” series by Chelsea Thomas. I love spending time in Pine Grove, NY. with Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny! I enjoyed this latest instalment in the series, the characters are well-developed and we continue to learn a little bit more about each of them. My favourites are still Teeny, aunt May and Chelsea. There is no longer a love triangle with Germany and Wayne thankfully.
The mystery was a continuation of the last and has plenty of twists and turns that you are keep you guessing. I continue to enjoy this cozy mystery series. I find them to be entertaining and the plot moves at a steady pace that keeps you engaged.
I can’t wait for the next instalment to find out!
I highly recommend this book/series. It can easily stand alone but I recommend you read the series from the beginning.

The mystery of the body parts that spanned two books is now getting the attention it deserves when it is finally identified as the high school coach. Despite his championship wins, there is a darker side that is uncovered by Chelsea, May, and Teeny leaving no shortage of suspects but when the coach's body is discovered for a second time intact, the case gets a whole lot more complicated as to who is the first victim, whether there is more than one killer at large, and how close to home will it hit.

Eleven books into this series and the banter and camaraderie between Miss May, Chelsea, and Teeny still wonderful. The only thing I didn't like was the breakup of one of my favorite characters, Germany Turtle, and Chelsea.
I received an advanced review copy from the authors in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own and not affected by the giveaway.
Chelsea and Miss May are shocked to discover body parts hidden in their orchard. As the police start digging up hands and feet, Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny start to dig for clues. Chelsea identifies the hand as belonging to high school basketball coach/gym teacher Ron Thornton. When Chief Flanagan locks up Brian of the Brown Cow, Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are shocked. They don't believe he is the right culprit. Can the intrepid sleuths figure out whodunit before the chief orders an excavator to dig up their orchard?
The whodunit seemed a little obvious to me. Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny found other suspects so I wasn't sure but given the timeline of the story, I figured I was right. Still, I was interested and eager to see where this was going. Not having read #10, I seem to have missed a development in Chelsea's love life. Her love triangle is resolved in this book when she makes a decision. I feel badly for the one she didn't choose.
Chelsea manages not to be such a crybaby and babbler here. She actually uses her brain and her sleuthing skills to ferret out clues. The catch a villain scene is funny and unusual, especially for Chelsea. Miss May takes more of a back seat and acts as Chelsea's aunt more than co-sleuth. Teeny, however, is eager to get this thing solved. She keeps her TV show program references to a minimum and gushes about her relationship with Dan instead. As always she serves up delicious food too.
Sunshine Flanagan is as mean and incompetent as ever. How is this woman still chief? Wayne seems to have made up his mind which side he's on but still toes the line to keep his job. Clearly his job security is more important than actually catching a killer. I still don't like him too much. Germany is still awkward, sweet and caring. I like him much better than Wayne! Teeny and Big Dan are official dating. They're a cute couple. I like how each accepts the other for who they are and somehow they make it work. Humphrey is a hoot but I don't like him so much here. He is correct that Teeny doesn't really know him, know him. They're casual acquaintances nothing more. He shouldn't be allowed to work at the sports museum if he's only going to fall asleep and allow people to sneak in. His revelation at the end is unethical and illegal. I would expect Sunshine Flanagan to go after him. A new Pine Grove resident who pops up here is Mr. Wentworth, the snow plow man. An older gentleman, he has a crush on Miss May. I can see why he does but he's unwilling to accept no for an answer and that is not cool. I don't know how I feel about him yet.
Coach Thornton was a rotten man. He deserved to be disgraced and sent to jail but not murdered and hacked up in pieces. Still, if anyone in Pine Grove deserved that fate it was Coach Thornton. He perpetuated child abuse through the guise of coaching. His boys are taught to be TOUGH and take no prisoners. Coach Thornton would do anything to win and was vindictive against people he didn't like, even taking it out on their children which isn't fair. His sister, Sissy, also seems possessed of a nasty temper like her brother and a lot of family pride. How awful for her to have to identify her brother's body from his hand. She isn't very nice and she doesn't seem to be grieving normally so I don't feel too sad for her.
The suspects include any of the players who had reason to hate Coach Thornton! Also, the teachers at the school like Miss Wimple. Chelsea's favorite English teacher was constantly bullied by Coach Thornton and has a very good reason to hate him. She seems way too sensitive and angry. Where was HR? Did she complain? Brian, the laid back owner of the Brown Cow, has secrets connected to Coach Thornton. Who knew Brian and Mr. Brian were so vindictive and nasty towards an enemy? I would have expected Brian to turn the other cheek and meditate. He's a good candidate for murderer but as a series regular, I know he didn't do it! Plus he's super nice, especially to Teeny and aids her sprinkle obsession. There's another regular character the Thomases accuse of killing Coach Thornton. That one is a little more plausible given the body was buried in the orchard. That person seems suspicious in the way they are acting right now but nothing about their past behavior shows any indication they are capable of murder. Meditation, yes, murder no. Coach Sheila, Thornton's biggest rival, is JUST like him! She doesn't see it that way but to her winning is everything. She's OBSESSED with Coach Thornton's championship wins against her team from years ago and hasn't let it go. She's nursing that grievance and certainly has some valid reasons to loathe Coach Thornton and want him gone. Did she do it? She seems capable of cold blooded murder and hacking someone into tiny pieces. She doesn't seem to know the Thomases though. Finally, there's James McGregor, a former student athlete turned plumber. At first he tells Chelsea he lives in Staten Island and then he's suddenly from Orlando and she doesn't question it. Did he lie or is this an example of the poor editing job done on this book? James seems to know a lot about Coach Thornton and those championship years. Could he have returned to his hometown bitter and angry that his life hasn't turned out as planned? His alibi sounds completely ridiculous and unbelievable. Chelsea, being so innocent, believes him 100% but I don't. He seems sketchy to me and that incident in Orlando was never fully resolved.
This is a fun series for a lot of escapism. It's just what I needed right now. I wish the authors would do a better editing job but this one is better than the last one I read.
Typos/errors Why does Jimmy first tell Chelsea he lives in Staten Island but then he's from Orlando? Chapter 11 p. 3: qfingers should be fingers whole book: alright is still spelled wrong. It's two words : all right. That's my big pet peeve. Also grammatical errors: Thomases as in Chelsea and Miss May or Thomas's as in their farmhouse or orchard. James's as in James's alibi. Please Chelsea and Matt, read a style guide and have someone proof your books!
Yes there was an eastern snowstorm before Halloween this year and again just before Christmas! Unusual and weird but true!
This is book eleven of the Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery and starts just as the trio of Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are celebrating finding a killer and solving their latest case and Chelsea is left shocked by Germany Turtle’s unexpected marriage proposal. They have already uncovered a couple of feet that were buried in the orchard, but now a hand has been uncovered and Chelsea knows who it belongs to, the three gold championship rings and the hairy knuckles were a dead giveaway. The orchard is swarming with police looking for more body parts, but as usual Chief Flanagan refuses to believe Chelsea when she identifies the dead person, from the hand and arranges to bring in a bulldozer to destroy the orchard in her bid to find the rest of the body parts. Miss May and Chelsea need to stop her from doing that and it is Teeny who brings in the big guns and calls a surprise visitor, who can identify the hand without a shadow of a doubt, that even Chief Flanagan will have to listen to.
The Chief further thwarts the trio, but answering Detective Wayne’s phone, whenever they have Chelsea try to ring him for an insight into what evidence the police may have found on the orchard. She is ahead of them each time and refuses to allow Wayne’s weakness for Chelsea, to allow them to find out what the police suspect. As usual, the police arrested a person, who they deem to be the killer, but it is obvious to most and even Wayne eventually agrees with the trio, that the person they are holding in jail is not the killer. Now the trio just need to carry on with their investigations to find out who killed Coach Thornton. He may have coached a team that won three championships at basketball, but his players and lots of other people who knew him, called him a bully and had quite a deep hatred for the dead man!
They soon have quite a list of suspects and even someone close to one of them, seems to have a guilty secret concerning the dead coach and they have to work out what he is hiding. They narrow down the suspect list, but are waylaid by a sudden and severe snowstorm before Halloween even arrives, which leaves them stuck at the farmhouse and investigations having to slow down a touch. Just as the roads get cleared and the school snow day is cancelled, they go to question someone at the school and fall across another dead body! Chief Flanagan is not amused and keeps them waiting as usual, while she directs the local officers around like a headless chicken.
A lengthy investigation, which leads them to more discoveries than expected and a much more complex series of interlinking circumstances behind the two bodies found. Chelsea’s love life gets one conclusion, but she then gets an offer from a visiting former basketball player, never mind her fascination with Detective Wayne! Even Miss May could finally be getting a touch of romance in her life, amidst her busy life of running the orchard, baking and solving local murders. A fairly typical investigation for the trio, but definitely with a greater touch of violence and aggression in the method of murder, for the first body at least. Why someone would think to leave bits of a body buried in the grounds of the orchard, when this is where two of the town’s amateur sleuths live and work, you have to wonder! Not the brightest cookie in the bunch, if the killer was hoping to get away with murder. Quite a spate of murders recently and the trio may well be exhausted with what Pine Grove has pushed upon them. Let’s hope they have a bit of a break before their next case hits! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are so happy they can celebrate the solving of a murder last week when their excitement is ended abruptly by their dog finding a hand buried in the orchard. OH NO, here we go again and with the total dislike the police chief Flanagan has for Chelsea, Miss May and Teenie, the super sleuths have their work cut out for them as they investigate. Chelsea felt she knew whose hand it was and Teenie called Sissy, the sister of the mean and major bully football coach for the local high school. When Sissy, who was nasty herself, identified her brother's hand, Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny got started investigating. And when they arrested Brian, the owner of the Brown Cow Coffee Shop is arrested for the murder because he was a disgruntled neighbor or the coach and they had their confrontations, the ladies knew they had to step up their game! When Detective Wayne, who usually shares information when Flanagan isn't looking, was tighter than a clam on this one. Given the coach was not loved by even the opposing coaches since he cheated a lot as well, there was a plethora of suspects in this one. Will they be able to find the real murderer and who is the second body they found? So many twists and turns and plot twists you just can't put this book down until you have reached the end! I received and ARC of this book, but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own!
After body parts have been found in their apple orchard, Chelsea and Miss May want to find the murderer. Especially in consideration of the rude and not highly competent local police. The detective trio is complete with their friend Teeny. They think the missing person must be the basketball coach who won three championships. At first it seems unlikely that anyone would have killed the popular and successful coach. But the three quickly find out that he had made a lot of enemies. Like former students that expelled from his team, other coaches, the English teacher he constantly bullied, and many more. Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny feel they investigation is also a race against time as an early blizzard is approaching and the murderer is still roaming free ...
I hadn't read any other novels from the "Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery Series" before. But even though this is the 11th book, I didn't have any problems finding into the story. "Dropping Like Pies" has everything a great cozy mystery needs: sympathetic characters with a few quirks, pets, a possible love story, and of course a murder case that seems almost insolvable. I highly enjoyed that the three amateur detectives pursued several leads and that it only becomes obvious towards the very end who the actual murderer is. The story with all its details is narrated in a convincing way that all other suspects could have killed the coach. Having read this novel makes me actually want to read the whole series.

I received this book early (and free) in exchange for an honest review.
This is book 11 in a series. I will proceed my review by saying I have not read any of the other 10. The story line is complete so there is requirement that you read any of the preferring books. However, you may gain more insight into the characters if you do. .
I liked the main characters, they complement each other well. I like the banter between them. I think they could stand a better introduction. Maybe a case for reading at least the very early books. The secondary characters, including the guilty party could stand a bit more development. Some of the settings seem to be a bit contrived. If Teeny owns a restaurant, it seems out of the ordinary that they frequently eat at different places.
Spoiler alert. I really did not like the story line about the tattoos applied just before or after death. Tattoos need time to heal and would be a clue in themselves if they were raw and new. Up to that point, it was a quick, easy read. From that point on, for me anyway, the story line went way south and was no longer believable.
I grew up with the Hardy Boys so I won't let one bad experience from reading other stories in the series, maybe start in the begining next time.

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. I can't believe we're on book 11 of this amazing series, it doesn't seem 5 minutes ago that I started reading it. I think it's the mark of of a good series that I'm still in love with all of the time characters and can't wait for another book. In this book we discover who the dismembered body part's belong to that that Steve the dog found in the previous book. The three amateur sleuths soon get on the case and are determined to solve it before the police do, and they are personally invested in this one as the body part's were found on the farm. As with all of their investigations there are laughs along the way and people wrongfully accused of murder, but you know our girl's they get there in the end. I'd definitely recommend this book and series to anyone who enjoys a good cozy mystery ❤️❤️
This was book eleven and I think it was the first one that I really had the killer figured out. There were a couple of twists and turns but, I got things straightened out finally. When the Chief arrests the wrong person again, the girls up their game before the killer strikes again. Some families just don't get along. Enjoy Chelsea, Miss May and zany Teeny with her sprinkles. Not many Apple pies handed out this time around. Interesting things going in in the romance department. There are the the usual cast of characters, Chelsea, Miss May, Teeny, her boyfriend Big Dan, Germany Humphrey, Officer Wayne, Officer Hercules and of course, Chief Sunshine Flanagan in all her redheaded glory.
Really enjoying this author. Make sure you get her cookbook as well!
It has only been a week or so since solving their last case, but murder does not take a vacation. It is safe to assume there has been another murder since unattached hands are not that common. Now, police are swarming all over the apple orchard and the Chief is calling for an excavator to dig wider and deeper in search of body parts; an event that will destroy the orchard if Chelsea, Aunt May, and Teeny can’t solve the murder in time.
I really like Apple Orchard cozies. There are always plenty of twists and humor to keep it interesting. This is a fun series and the dialogue between Teeny, Aunt May, and Chelsea is hilarious! I received a free copy of the book, but my review is voluntary and honest.
A really good read in a wonderful series that will keep you swiping the pages of your Kindle. Never a spoiler in my reviews, here's what you need to know: A well-told story with well-developed characters fill the pages of this page-turner of a mystery! Hard to put down with well-developed characters that keep you interested and on the edge of your seat with twists and turns that keep you guessing! This can certainly be read as a standalone, but you'll want to go back and read the others because although not necessary, puts together a backstory that's nice to know. An exciting page-turner you don't want to miss!

There last case just barely finished and they are handed a new one. Body parts are found buried in the apple orchard and they think they know who it is. But why was he buried in the orchard, why was he killed, and, of course, who did it? The three sleuths think it is the basketball coach who won 3 championships. While investigating, they come across a second body and it also looks like the coach. Did he has a twin? Or is it something more sinister. And with a blizzard hitting the town, they have precious little time to solve the case. Enjoy this great addition to the Apple Orchard Cozy Mysteries.
Chelsea finds another body part in the apple orchard. So begins this next installment in this series with the police digging holes looking for more parts. When Miss May hears the police chief is planning on bringing in an excavator, she knows that the three amateur sleuths needs to figure out who killed the owner of the parts found.
As Miss May, Teeny and Chelsea investigate the death, they are finding a number of suspects, even one that appears close to one of them!
Oh and by the way, you need to read this to learn how Chelsea’s romantic relationships are working out.

When a high school basketball couch is murder Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny have their work cut out for them. There are too many suspects as everyone hated the couch! He was a nasty, mean and evil man from an equally nasty family! When a second murder occurs the lady’s have to start their investigation all over again from the beginning! I love the characters in this book and series. We learn more about Chelsea’s love life and surprisingly Miss May’s too. I highly recommend this book and this series especially if you are looking for a light fun read! Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Finding body parts in their apple orchard, and so soon after their last case, Chelsea, Miss May, and Teeny are called into action. They won’t have much time to find the murderer with a snow storm coming, and the inefficient local police who are ready to dig up the entire apple orchard to search for more body parts! If Chelsea, Aunt May, and Teeny can’t solve the murder in a timely manner, their entire orchard could be destroyed and their business ruined! Will the team pull through again and solve the case? Don’t miss this wonderful addition to the series that seems to always make me crave one of Miss May’s apple pies!
Any fans of this series are likely to know that despite an odd affinity for karate, Chelsea is more than a bit of a klutz
Unsurprisingly, PE and sports were not her favorite activities in high school
The death of a basketball coach with dubious popularity leaves the apple orchards vigneron to Flanagan and efforts to uproot the apple trees in hopes of additional gruesome discoveries
Too many suspects, not enough compassion as our favorite sleuthing trio Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny get crazy serious with their investigations

Chelsea finds a disembodied hand wearing three big gold rings and a tattoo on the wrist. It is later confirmed to be the hand of Coach Thorton. The police come out and they find more body parts. This brings up three questions -- why kill the coach, why chop him up, and why scatter the body parts in an apple orchard. But the biggest question is who did it? But things arent' always what they appear to be. Miss May, Chelsea, and Teeny are confronted by one of their most difficult cases. There is also a huge winter storm coming and a storm of the personal kind for Chelsea. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
In a well written cozy mystery, the biggest questions are always who did it and why. In this case, almost everyone hated the victim so finding out who did it won't be an easy task and the why may be easier to answer.
The twists and turns and the ups and downs keep you on the edge of your seat and just when you think you have it figured out, you realize you don't. The main characters are fun and entertaining and they work great together to try and solve the latest murder in their small town. A perfect read for those who love a good, well written cozy mystery.

You know that saying: don't believe what you see? That might be helpful when reading this story.
Our lovable characters are all here. Murders to solve. Children's love life...
Fun, easy to read , can be read as a standalone.
Note that I did a BETA read of book. I gave it four stars because in my beta copy, I missed some of the quirks from the early books. Authors may have changed that since my input. One of the reasons why took much longer to read.
If you start here then ignore the above. Read and have fun.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive a BETA book.
This is the 11th book in the series and it doesn't disappoint. When a severed hand is found in Miss May's apple orchard, May, Teeny, and Chelsea are on the case. When the hand is identified as belonging to a local basketball coach, the list of suspects is a long one, as he was generally disliked by all. But when Coach Thornton's intact body is found in the school gymnasium, the complications grow. Whom does the hand belong to? And was the shady business that the coach was involved in what got him killed? The characters in the series are wonderfully crafted, and always humorous. The story has many twists and turns before the case is resolved. And the series is still highly entertaining.
Steve the dog has been digging up body parts on the Apple Orchard which has lead Pine Grove Police to threaten to bring in an excavator.. As Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny investigate things are not so simple. In the process of narrowing the suspect list they find another body that turns out to actually he the original victim. Now they must find out who the first body belongs to and solve 2 murders. They seem to continue to rub the Police Chief the wrong way but they do end up solving the case.

Dropping Like Pies is the 11th book in the Apple Orchard Cozy series by Chelsea Thomas.
Chelsea, Miss May, and Teeny have their hands full! When another body part is found in the orchard, Chelsea recognizes who it is. They have a murder to solve as well as dealing with romantic relationships.
There are the zany antics that you expect from the 3 amateur sleuths, but this story had a lot of twists and turns as they protect the innocent and hunt the guilty.

Another good mystery solved by Chelsea, Miss May & Teeny. This time as soon as they wrapped up one case another presented itself. They found body parts buried on the orchard. Believing it to be the local high school basketball coach, they set about trying to solve the case. There were lots of twists and turns and lots of laughs before they cracked the case. Also a little romance thrown in with Germany Turtle out of the picture. And even Miss May has an admirer. What fun! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This time the trio of sleuths have to work double to find who murdered who and who the murdered persons were. As always, they do everything with a lot of humor and involving a lot of eating. The way the foods are described, I got hangry and wanted to eat ice cream and waffles as the characters were eating. They work hard and have fun and so do the readers! A very entertaining story! Looking forward to reading the next book.

I received this book as an arc reader. I have to say this series is consistently great, and the up, downs, twists, turns of trying to figure out who done it, keeps me on the edge if my seat, and not wanting to put the book down. The three main characters are a hoot, Aunt May is straight forward, Teeny is a goofball, and Chelsea bumbles along. But the combo of the three characters working together to solve the latest murder in their small town always works out with the correct bad guy taken into custody!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Well this one had so many twists and turns as well as suspects and bit and bobs of bodies that I wasn't sure that our super sleuths would find out who did it. I admit there were times I was a bit worried we would never find out who the killer was or dare I say it ..... the police would finally solve a murder themselves 😱 Be ready for some good laughs, head scratching as you try to work things out and hungry with all the food you read about! lol
