This is a good source for understanding why eSports should qualify as a legitimate extracurricular activity and how to approach the challenges of creating such a program. I don’t buy the arguments for “eSports in the curriculum” as a similar case could be made for many extracurricular emphases. Such positions seem more appropriate for charter magnet schools rather than general application.
Billed as a how to guide, The Esports Education Playbook contains lots of information to justify and begin an esports team in schools. It is definitely American, and therefore, some content didn't apply to Canadian education settings. As a total newbie, I'm not sure that I was really provided with the right info to begin an esports team, but it added to my knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the growing activity.
