2.5 ⭐️

I’m really iffy about the .5 honestly.

The storyline had a lot of potential but the writing / execution was very juvenile. It was like a YA book but with cringe smut scenes.

In addition to this the characters were written like they were stupid, literally they all had zero common sense. Anybody with half a brain would immediately know their cucumber comments were about Dick, yet the male bc was all “oh I wonder what that means” really??? You don’t know??? This happened about a dozen times, maybe more. Just thinks that were common sense yet the author made the characters clueless

The rest of it was so quick and dramatic it was just like a weird wattpad fanfic honestly.

Alyssa Summers is orphaned and raised within a broken system yet she remains a fighter. Her one goal is to graduate college and to have a stable steady career as a nurse. One night she finds herself at The Merge a place to go and unwind with an exciting night. this is where she meets the owner Zac Williamson who knows what he wants and how to get it. As soon as he sets eyes on Alyssa he knows he has to get her. Zac saves Alyssa when she is put at risk of being drugged by her date. Does this cause an undeniable connection between them and will they forever be intertwined in each other's lives?

Kylie Kent will always have books for post-slumps. I don’t know what I would do without her. This woman cannot fail with her books and she will always be a comfort author to me.

It is safe to say I adore the way Alyssa's brain works she simply is way too relatable.

"It shouldn't be legal for men to walk around looking like this. I mean, this is how accidents are caused, women stunned by the beauty and all that. It's just plain dangerous. Dangerously beautiful is what he is."

"Let's go figure out who thinks they can take my man."

Zac being so open with his emotions showing off the ‘insta love’ trope was done well. I never do well with insta loves but something about the way Kylie writes the trope never irritates me. Sometimes as a reader you do not want a slow burn and Kylie Kent will solve that for you without making the pace feel wrong for the characters.

How could you just not fall for Zac, he just was adorable. The way he speaks to Alyssa in comparison to everyone else is just so cute. The times he says PLEASE ugh.

"I will share anything with you; what I will not share, under any circumstances, is you."

"If we have kids, that's up to us to decide, not anyone else. I don't want kids if it means not having you. There is nothing you can say that is going to make me want to look for anyone else, okay?"

"Sunshine, I would never hurt you. I don't want you to ever be afraid of that. I would cut my own hands off before I used them to cause harm to you. Please tell me you know this, please."

"First, you could never be in my way, sunshine. No matter where and what I am doing, you will always be my priority. Second, you just have to be in the same vicinity as me for me to notice you're there, and when you're not around, I notice your absence. Third, you can come, but you do not, under any circumstances, leave my side, okay?"

"The word love doesn't even begin to describe what I feel for you. I don't think there is a word to describe it. It's like you are a part of me. When I'm not with you, it's like I'm short of oxygen. I would love nothing more than to wake up with you in my arms every morning for the rest of my life, to spend the rest of my life loving you the way you deserve to be loved."

One consistent thing I adored between Zac and Alyssa is their ‘we will always have tomorrow.’ It was just way too cute to see them always reassure each other.

"Go to sleep, baby. We always have tomorrow."
I look up at him. "Promise?"
"I fucking swear it," he says, kissing me on the forehead, then my nose, then my lips."

"Sunshine, you are anything but a conquest. You're my tomorrow."

I adore Bray's character I just think he is so fun and lighthearted. I cannot wait to see what will happen between him and Reilly.

"Lyssa, don't take this the wrong way, because I like you, like really fucking like you. But could you maybe wait until you provide me with a nephew before you give my brother a heart attack? Because I'm fucking great uncle material. Uncle Bray has a ring to it, don't you think?"

I look up to the cage and hear the announcer call the start of Bray's fight. He's standing in the cage, looking over at us while staring intently at Reilly. He squints his eyes, mouthing the words, "What's wrong?" I shake my head and hold up one finger. It's our signal for me to need him to finish the fight in one round. He looks back to Reilly, and I swear I see something pass over him as his face hardens. Bray nods his head and turns as the announcer starts the countdown. As soon as he yells out one, Bray lands a solid punch to his opponent's jaw, knocking him out cold. Jumping from the cage, he storms over to us and pulls Reilly into his arms, rubbing his hands up and down her back and whispering something in her ear. For once, she doesn't fight off his touch. She hands him Alyssa's phone, and I watch as his face hardens before we all walk out of the basement together. Dean leading the way with Alyssa and Reilly between Bray and me

Alyssa and Reilly share such an adorable relationship. Cannot wait to see more moments between them in Reilly's book I could not get enough of them.

"You've been my boss for two minutes, Zac. She's been my best friend for five years. My loyalty is to her, not you."

The engagement scene was done perfectly it is such an accurate representation of Zac's personality. This was done exactly how I would have pictured it.

"Umm, Zac, honey, do you see anything on my hand? Anything at all?" I ask, my voice a little quiet and unsure. Zac grabs my hand and pulls it close to his face, turning my hand from front to back and inspecting it. "Well, I can see you've still got five fingers, clear skin, no signs of a rash." Turning my hand back over so the diamond is facing him, he adds, ‘Other than that three-carat diamond on your finger, I don't see anything else. What am I supposed to be looking for? "Still holding my hand, he looks up at my face. ‘Umm, Zac, how exactly did that diamond come to be on my finger?" I ask, still staring at the huge rock. "I put it there of course," he replies. That's it, no other explanation. "Okay, but I think you forgot the part where you asked me a very big question before you put a rock on my finger?" Zac raises my hand and kisses me just under where the rock sits. "I didn't forget. I was waiting for you to wake up. I thought I'd get a better answer when you're conscious and all."

I never rate a book one star but it gets a star for the spice and only that.

It started off good then it went a bit weird and cringy. Then it was just laughable and predictable. There was so many mistakes. The characters just seemed very insecure and it was just a weird one.

I wanted to love this book and I actually did love the characters at first. But typos aside, I had to DNF when the MMC suddenly switched from “I don’t do relationships” to “we will be together forever” within the first 25% of the book. The writing is also a bit repetitive at times - stating something like the character’s thought and then having them literally say the exact same thing with the same words.

Dnf 25%. Not feeling this one and the writing style isn’t working for me either. I just don’t find the overbearing love bombing romantic, it actually feels sinister, I’m also struggling with the premise that the H is a self made billionaire at 28 from running a nightclub and an underground fight club. He’s also kind of dense as far as I can tell. Ah well.

WOW such a amazing story! I loved this book like really really enjoyed it, it was so easy to read I finished it in one sitting. Alyssa and Zac had so much chemistry I FLOVED them together. The secondary were also really good. The book was well written, I think it’s absolutely perfect for a debut novel and I’m looking forward to other stories this author will write.

I was given a copy of this book but this is a true and honest review

This book is major Insta-love, which I don’t mind. But it took being over 40% into the book for some true character development and action (other than the numerous steam scenes). So, in my opinion, the pacing and development were a little off. But overall, it was enjoyable.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it in 2 sittings. Kylie’s writing style is so easy to read, and the dialogue does not feel forced in any way. The story is gripping and the characters likeable. You find yourself rooting for them.

I am a sucker for romance and passionate love. Kylie focuses on Alyssa and Zac throughout the whole book and doesn’t get sidetracked with irrelevant details many use to just fluff up the word count. Every word in this book was clearly thought out and linked together in such a way that it was a pleasure to read.

Cannot wait to read more.

Omg, I don’t know where to begin! I love Alyssa and Zac so much. They’re my new favorite couple! I am a CNA, so I relate to Alyssa. It’s a nice change because you don’t see a nurse in a book hardly at all. I can not wait to see where this author takes her next characters :3 Thank you Kylie for the wonderful adventure! Keep up the good work!!

I read the reviews saying this was super insta love. And it was indeed over the top insta love. At times cringey. It was labeled as billionaire romance suspense. I kept waiting for the suspense. That was the only reason I finished. And let me tell you: not very suspenseful.

Alyssa went on a blind date her friend, Sarah set her up with but ended up having a disastrous date. But fortunately she met Zac who's the owner of the nightclub she went with her blind date. Zac saved Alyssa and they both felt a passionate connection for each other. So, they started dating. Both are possessive and found happiness in each other.

I really liked this book. But I was hoping for an epilogue which was not there 😢 Still I liked the book. Nothing too excessive. There was a slight drama of a crazy employee Zac fired who was obsessed with him. Rather than that the book is all about Alyssa and Zac's love life. It's an insta-love story. I liked it as I have a thing for insta-love. Also, liked the side characters. There's everything Fun, romance, slight drama, slight action and lots of possessiveness. Lol!

4 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This was a pretty good story. I love a good romance. This had way more sex than story. I like reading smut, but not when it overpowers the story. The characters' chemistry is a little forced at the beginning, but does get better. The MMC's brother is a hoot. 🤣 I will definitely read more from this author.

I devoured this book. It’s so good. I love everything about Zac and Alyssa.

Both Zac and Alyssa have trauma in their past that shaped who they are today. These two needed each other to balance out the other.

There were definitely a lot twists and turns that kept their story very interesting. Love all the side characters.

Yes it’s insta love for these two but I’m down with it. Sometimes love just crashes into you.

DNF 38% Okay, this is the second attempt to read this book and unfortunately I only made it this time to 38%. Now I understand that this is based in Australia and I lived in Australia for a year, but I think they spell the word fetus the same way Americans spell fetus. I had to skip to the end cuz it just got so bad. It got predictable on who was the stalker and yes she had a baby after she said she might not be able to have children or didn't want children. Oh and if you're a nurse you would know if date rape drugs will hurt the baby or not. She went from yes she can hold her ground to a whimpering simp to back to being holding her ground. If I read the word Sunshine one more time I'm going to barf. I was going to start a drinking game and take a shot every time I read the word sunshine but then realized I probably would pass out from being drunk. It got boring it was just a sex book with a story in it. It seemed like every time they got together with their friends they were playing tonsil hockey which kind of got weird and old. Also if you're going to put a tracking device in your fiance's ring ask first I hate that guys think that they can do that and be okay with it. That's just a little bit too controlling for my liking. Also she's really not a very good friend. She knows her friend Riley has no filter and likes men so when she Riley was talking about how sexy her man is all the female character wanted to do was hurt her and hurt her badly. Oh and speaking of her friends can we stop talking about cucumbers that also got old too. And back to hurting their friends and family. Zack was no good either. His brother was being friendly to the female character putting his arm around her welcome to the family, and all he wanted to do was to hurt his brother badly. How come the police never investigated any of these people's disappearance? Also going back to the female character and not being a very good friend if my boyfriend ever threatened my best friend like he did to Riley I would have gotten into his face and told him to kiss my ass and f*** off. Men come and go but best friends are forever she should have stood up for Riley they weren't doing any harm. Won't read the rest of the series unfortunately. From reading the reviews and the free sample they're still talking about cucumbers really?

This was an enjoyable read. The insta love came very quick, so I think it‘s not a book for everyone. Zac and Alyssa are nice together but I was very curious about Bray and Reilly. I think this book had a lot of potential but sadly it was not fully used. Some chapters were just boring and the love story between the main characters was short. So I liked it but it was not excellent. I will definitely read the second book in this series.

Setting: Sydney, NSW, Australia; modern day.
When emergency nurse Alyssa goes on a blind date organised by one of her friends, she ends up being 'rescued' by Zac, the owner of Merge, the club her date has taken her to. Usually too busy for love but immediately taken by Zac's emerald green eyes, Alyssa finds herself falling hard - but reluctant to see any future with a man who seems to have everything. But Zac too is smitten by Alyssa and the pair soon strike up a deep relationship. The only problem is Zac's stalker, who wants to get rid of Alyssa and have him for herself....
This was only an okay read for me. I thought it predictable and somewhat formulaic with a few raunchy sex scenes and a bit of light BDSM to attempt to keep the reader engrossed. Not a bad read but not sure I shall be reading more of the series - 6.5/10.

Perfect Balance...

KU read 372 Pages
Book 1 of a trilogy
Insta Love
Grumpy x Sunshine
Mafia-ish (Club Owner)
Millionaire Romance
Found Family

I can't even say who falls first cos they both fall fast and hard. I loved FMC Alyssa from the get go and even how she was determined not to be dependant on any man no matter how riche is. MMC Zac was the grumpy club owner vowing never to fall in love them fell for Alyssa hard the minute he locked eyes on her and he saved her from being date raped.
Given its fiction I can overlook the speedy which he managed to get her moved in and engaged but like I said the story played the perfect balance as the circumstances made you overlook the time frame.
Also loved how the grumpy guy melted for Alyssa from the get go but they both got growly possessive of each other too.

I will admit this is a reread for me. The first time I read this it was in July of 2021.

This is the perfect beginning to this series.

Alyssa and Zac are seriously meant for each other and their connection screamed through the pages. Alyssa deserved to be worshiped and Zac did just that. This couple set the bar high for everyone involved in this series and any other books that happen.

Alyssa and Zac are couples goals ❤

DNF 23% the romance was going to fast. I don’t like it when they are only attracted to each other physically. especially at the beginning of the book, because then they have to like each other on the inside (for example, that she is nice or funny) not the outside. MMC jerked himself off after 1 FOCKING DAY!!!! DO YOU EVEN REMEMBER HER FOCKING NAME!

I give it 1⭐️

I've recently discovered Kylie Kent and after reading her trilogy The Valentino Empire Series (Holly the FMC is part of this series) I decided I wanted to read more of hers and I was not disappointed.

This book is dark romance (on the light side though), with a touch of suspense, with instant love with a billionaire club owner (who plays a little on the less than the legal side) and the woman that knocks him flat. A nice bonus the spice between the two is hot as hell.

The characters were easy to fall for and understand but she held back just enough for me to keep wanting more. I love the alpha males she writes that when they find the one, they are all in no going back, laying claim to what they want. I love that the woman makes them work a little for it too.

Look forward to reading about Bray and Dean next.

Alyssa is finally going out on a blind date her best friend Sarah set up for her. She really doesn't want to but knowing her friend has her best interest at heart she goes. Saying the night is a disaster is being kind, he only talks about himself, shows no real interest in her apart from talking to her breasts, and then wants to split the check. But really sealing the deal was that he drugs her and if it wasn't for the GQ model she spots at the bar before passing out who knows what would have happened.

Zac isn't usually on the floor of his club but with his baby sister showing up he's keeping an eye out sitting at the bar. When he notices the curvy blonde in the red dress standing in the doorway, he's suddenly happy to be sitting at the bar, pity about the pencil-dicked douche who joins her and escorts her to the bar. When they finally make eye contact it's like she cast a spell on him. Watching the guy she's with slip something into her drink sends him wild. As he rips him away making sure one of the security team takes him downstairs to be dealt with, she collapses in his arms.
'Walking up behind him, I throw him across the room before turning back to my sunshine. Huh, my sunshine?'
Watching over her all night while she sleeps in his office the possessiveness Zac feels only cements itself deeply.

When Alyssa awakes to find the GQ model look alike watching over her and dozens of worried messages and calls from her friends she struggles to put the pieces together. When he fills in the blanks she can’t believe what happened. Even more shocking is the fact that Zac wants to drive her home and seems worried about her.
‘I’m momentarily stunned by the electricity I feel run up my arm from his touch. I look at him, his muscles stretching out the black V-neck, his forearms tensing as he grips the steering wheel… damn. Unintentionally, I squeeze my legs together and supress the moan that wants to escape. What the hell is wrong with me? This handsome stranger is nice enough to give me a lift home and all I can think about is jumping his bones.’

Zac has made his mind up he wants Alyssa and even she won’t stop him from making it happen.
“Where the hell have you been all my life, sunshine? You might not know what this is, me and you, and that’s okay, because I know. This is us always having a tomorrow, together.”

When Alyssa feels like her life is finally getting good the world tilts as a stalker begins to make threats. After what has happened in her past, this just might break her. But Zac will never let anything harm his sunshine and once the threat is eliminated, he’ll spend the rest of his life making her happy.
“I want to always have a tomorrow with you,” I tell him. “Sunshine, I want nothing more than to raise a family with you. For all of my tomorrows to be with you.

Happy Reading.

Get a drink, snacks and whatever else you need because once you start this book you will not want to put it down! I stayed up till 3:15 in the blessed AM on a work night, because I simply could not put it down.
You will fall in love with the characters and their stories. The relationships between the characters make you want to be a part of their world, go to dinner, watch movies, you know like they are your friends now.
Kylie Kent is a genius with her writing style, the way she builds up dramatic situations, uses current modes of communication, and describes scenes, all just lead to a fantastic story. There isn’t anything I didn’t like about the book. And I’m sitting as patiently as I can waiting for the next book.

As an avid reader the only other thing I can say is: Way To Go Kylie, Way To Go!
